I think you got a free UK phone. There's not an official update at this moment for free UK phones, just get the last version of Kies and wait until the update is released.

what is meant by free uk fone. and i m using kies version 2.3. in the option where my fone name is written in the bar of left panel of kies. all the options are black except firmware upgrade. it is greyed. what and why is this?
Kies updates official firmware ONLY .
Only when the provider of the phone updates .
Example
Provider xxxx Saudi used in yy Turkey network .
Update from the provider Saudi when they update only .
SEARCH for CHECKFUS and put your product code etc in the boxes as the codes you post show possible UK as provider of the phone .
jje
You can flash a ics rom from odin
check the guide here to use odin and flash ics:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
Download this latest ics:http://skywanker.net/download/downl...9100_SER_I9100XWLP7_I9100OXELP7_I9100XXLPS.7z
Update has not aired yet lad, best bet would would be to flash a custom ROM if you can't wait. But if you don't want to play around with custom ROM then wait.
..
same here try to use ODIN if you want to upgrade your SGS2 into ICS based..

No...data and settings will not be erased....enjoy...
Thanks guys.. it worked.. Only one problem i find now..
KIES is not detecting the phone..
Is it because i installed the UK firmware in India ??
EDIT: It detects the phone.. But shows,
"This version of the device cannot be updated"
Product code no longer matches firmware on Kies server or their is as of yet no update .
jje
Flash one more time to get your csc replaced with ke7 version.
Where do i get the CSC file from ??
Any link please??
Why can't I update firmware through Kies. Everytime I check it says "This is the latest firmware". It seems everyone else has had the option to update with kies for a while now, so why not me? Im on vodafone uk.
Current firmware:
Gingerbread 2.3.3
PDA:KG2
PHONE:KG1
CSC:KE2 (VOD)
Thanks

Garbage some have updated some phone providers have not updated and probably will skip 2.3.4 as 2.3.5 is rolling out .

You need to ask Vodafone or take phone to Vodafone service centre see if they have an update .Vodaphone update the firmware and push it to Kies server .

Mostly but not always it all depends upon the phone supplier .
Thats why most XDA members go down the unofficial route and many are running KI3/8 2.3.5 .
jje
Thanks JJEgan for your help.
As I got a vodafone branded sgs2 (locked with vodafone) would flashing XWKI8 or XXKI3 from Intratech's rom page be ok?
I read somewhere you should only flash unlocked phones.
I currently have my phone rooted with unsecure BUKG2 stock kernel, other than that its untouched from purchase.
Hi,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 which states:
Baseband version:
I9100JHKE2
Kernel version:
2/6/35/7-IJHKE3-CL225022 [email protected] #2
Build number:
Gingerbread.JHKE3
Anyway, I was looking for the ICS upgrade with these numbers and failed, but someone told me some of them were meaningless. The phone was bought from Orange Romania, but I live in Israel and need Hebrew and true Right to Left support, and for the phone to work in Israel's Orange network.
Any idea on such an *OFFICIAL* upgrade?
Thanks!
Oren
Its all good !

I'm using an UNROOTED 4.0.3 from sammobile(dot)com on my SGS2 also on ORANGE network . with it i use GO!Keyboard and no HEB problems.
I think that if you use |CM9-4.0.3 Nightly| it will work just fine too.

What if KIES does not support it?
I tried (because of an answer I got elsewhere) to install Samsung KIES and use it. There's a message there saying "your device does not support software upgrading via kies".
Does this mean I have to use the flashing with download mode?
Also, I couldn't find the sammobile ROM suggested above. Can someone explain how to obtain in?
Thanks,
Oren
Just install SPOOFFW from the market, change your phone into one of the regions which supports the new version ( such as POLAND, XXLPQ ) and then connect to kies.
It will let you upgrade to ICS from kies to the European version
Thanks, but...

First of all, we're not geeks; we're technical enthusiasts!
Second of all, as JJe said correctly, the button was probably removed by the carrier, you are at.
Third of all, you can always download frimware from here incase you don't have the OTA button
*OTA = Over the Air

I very much doubt your phone is broken/defect or what ever, I'd say go to sammobile.com/firmware and download the latest firmware you can find
Or, if you never have, try flashing a custom ROM, they're definitly worth a try! We've got some developers here, that should be prominent!

I am guessing you are with orange. Or maybe t-mobile as they are both one now. Your phone is not faulty and it is your service provider (orange/ t-mobile) who have disabled the updates option. I am in the same situation. You can either ring your service provider to give you an unbranded phone or flash the rom as suggested.
yeah, just flash some unbranded ROM available for you phone, I did exacly this and now I am FREE of carriers logos and other stuff, they should't control our lives, dam operators..

It doesn't really matter what ROM you use. The only difference is, is that you then have all the carrier crap on your phone. If you can, find the latest version for Europe/No carrier and flash that.
I mean, I live in Germany and I flash the European ones alll the time on other phones, because their fed up of all that bloatware on their phones.
But, I'd suggest trying out some custom ROMs. Personally, I'm using CarHD ROM v6 for my Galaxy S 4 (I9505), it use TWiz, but it's themed. Looks real awesome, though.
On my GS III, I at first had stock Telekom Germany, then I flashed Android Revolution HD - Wasn't happy with it at all after a week of use, constant lag and battery life was terrible (Please don't use this as an argument not to flash the ROM. The lagginess and battery life is relative, as it differes from user to user, as we all have different habbits of using our phones!), then I had Paranoid Android, CM10 and so on.. The last ROM I had on it was MIUI. I stuck with that until I got my new phone - Which was about half a year.
So, if you want my personal opinion, go check out MIUI, whether you choose the CM-based version or the official download from http://miuiandroid.com - It's your choice. In all the time I was using that ROM, using it rather heavily, my battery lasted just over a day and I never had any form of lag, whether it be in games like Hill Climb Racing or graphics-intense games like Asphalt 6. They all worked perfectly fine.

sammobile is NOT an official samsung website. Consider it more like a fan site. They collect and share official firmware that's it (it's actually quite a lot of work)
so if there is no update in kies then update in Romania and your provider is not ready. (and it wont be on sammobile until it is present in Kies)
there is one 4.3 for Vodafone Romania, if ur phone was bought to this provider then u should have it in kies. If you have another provider or unbranded phone then u have to wait.
last thing, question goes to Q&A forum!!!!
great thanks ,but i don't have any provider ,i bought it from flanco .
so u have to wait until samsung provide unbranded firmware in Romania...
i am also waiting (i live in Poland)
ps: to thank people there is a "thanks" button

Then pick one to suit your location and network its all posted in the faqs and guides .
You will need Samsung to provide you the update
