Hello everyone.
I'm unlocking the bootloader on Xperia X10 mini, using the following tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254225
I have kernel [email protected] #1. The phone doesn't have a simlock.
I'm in section 5c (flashtool). Until this section everything went according to expectations.
There's a sentence in the guide that says: "Wait until Flashtool asks you to disconnect the cable off the phone, then turn on the device and connect the usb cable once again."
What happened was that I didn't see that sentence in the log, yet the phone turned on by itself.
I unplugged the cable and connected it again. The tool started to push files.
During the process the following error came up:
"Error mounting /system rw" (after "Remounting system read-write")
Not surprisingly, the message "Successfully applied unlock" did NOT appear.
Here's the whole log of the flashtool:
07/044/2012 14:44:26 - INFO - Device connected with USB debugging on
07/044/2012 14:44:28 - INFO - Connected device : E10

07/044/2012 14:44:29 - INFO - Pushing C:\Flashtool\.\devices\E10\busybox\1.19.0\busybox to /data/local/tmp/busybox

07/044/2012 14:44:31 - ERROR - Error mounting /system rw
07/044/2012 14:44:31 - INFO - Root Access Allowed
What can I do to overcome this problem?
Thanks a lot!
Maybe you can use this guide :
http://www.androidaddicted.com/sony...eria-x8-w8-x10-mini-and-x10-mini-pro-708.html
I unlocked my x10 mini pro booloader yesterday using that guide (x8,w8,x10 mini also included),and it doesn't have many step to do,and it also Small Step and Easy to understand...
Don't forget to click Thanks button if my post help you
EDIT : It also provide Xperia x8,Xperia w8,and x10 mini other then x10 mini pro
Take the battery out?
Thanks for the link, UchihaDareNial.
What is written there is similar to what I did, in the most part. Yet I now notice a couple of things that I might have done wrong.
That phone belongs to my family relative. I'll give it another shot when he is around.
Yet I haven't found a way to take the battery out in X10 mini...
Is it posssible at all?
Thanks!

Hi!
Having looked around, almost smashed my computer & phone to bits i thought I'd ask on here if anyone can help me out here. I have an Xpreia X10 Mini Pro.. It had Android 1.6 and i wanted to update it to 2.1.. (network locked to 3)
Two things happened here, PC Companion didn't work on my PC.. Dont know why, so i used SEUS(Sony Ericsson Update Service) to get me the update. This update downloaded successfully, then decided it would give up after about 5% of install.. Bricking my phone.
So i downloaded Flashtool. Great! (i thought). I installed everything, downloaded the UK 2.1 firmware in .SIN format, compiled it (or bundled). I had a rough idea of what i was doing however two steps were missed by the tutorial on this site.
My Flashtool asked me on bundling what model my phone was, there were 2 option which may apply, the first: Xperia Mini Pro, the second, X10. i chose X10.
then asked me if i wanted a locked bootloader or unlocked. ?! not knowing what this meant i opted to make two ftf files, the first with the locked second with unlocked.
none of those worked.. this is what i got in flashtool log:
10/017/2011 15:17:14 - INFO - Searching Xperia....
10/017/2011 15:17:33 - INFO - Found at USB\VID_0FCE&PID_ADDE\5&36089B2&0&2
10/017/2011 15:17:33 - INFO - Start Flashing
10/017/2011 15:17:34 - ERROR - Error flashing. Aborted
10/017/2011 15:17:34 - INFO - Now unplug the device and power it on
10/017/2011 15:17:34 - INFO - Then go to application settings
10/017/2011 15:17:34 - INFO - turn on Unknown Sources and Debugging
i also not that in the stderr.txt file i had this:
"Error loading log4j properties file."
although i cant be sure as to when this happened.
Please help. I'm going to lose my mind here.
By the sounds of it you downloaded the latest flashtool which doesnt support our x10 mini pro. Try downloading an earlyer one and try again.

Can you try this :
1 - Exit Flashtool
2 - go to x10flasher_lib folder inside Flashtool install folder and edit driverid.properties
3 - remove all lines except this one : flash1=VID_0FCE&PID_ADDE
4 - Restart flashtool
So now we can flash costum kernels even if we dont have fastboot on device right?
Doomlord you should reall make a tut for this.
Thanks in advance

those devices have hacked bootloaders to support flashing custom kernels...
since new xperia 2011 device already support fastboot there is no need to hack their bootloaders... simply unlock them... the official or unofficial way

ah ok, thanks for clarifying.
I'm new to the new mini pro so please pardon my ignorance.. I've been reading through the forum and even though it is possible to unlock the bootloader on a branded phone (like i have), it is not possible to enable fastboot on the branded phone? For people who have this problem is it going to be forever impossible to flash custom kernels?
thanks
Thanks for the info i have unlocked my bootloader with the hardware trick
so now i can flash costum kernels and roms
Thank you Doom so much
Here is a small update that resolves the following issue :
Device not recognized correctly when plugged.

I don't have the driverid.properties file in that folder.
shall I create one? EDIT - I tried that, didn't do ****. Something wrong with my install?

Install 0.5.0.0 then install 0.5.3 update and you shouldn't have anymore problems.
the driverid.properties file is removed with the 0.5.3 update. No more used.

I just installed flashtool for the first time, (0.5.0.0 with 0.5.3.0 over it) and I had the same issue, that flashtool does not recognize my usb debugging settings.

The problem is that all these case can be detected by program by I go on step by step and each time someone get stuck, I get some info and I go one step further
My goal is that flashtool will detect correctly how your device is connected and give the advice itself
OK thanks guys (by the way, my phone is not unlocked, maybe that's why I couldn't get to flash mode?)

Its very easy using flashtool.
All you have to do is download it and install and follow these steps.
1. Enable "USB Debugging" and "Unknown sources" in your phone.
2. Open Flashtool
3. Connect the phone to the PC with usb cable and skip "install pc companion" message on phone.
4. So if you connect it properly, the flashtool will indicate that "device connected with UDB Debugging on".
5.Then click on "Root" icon in the menu and after reboot your phone will be rooted.
this is my log!

mrpsyko, try this tool: SE Extreme Tweak Installer - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346190

Please note, that previous to running the mentioned tool, I rooted my Xperia Mini with this kit: DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321582

Apparently, installing CWM and busybox did not let me to install CM7, it is crashing while flashing.
I found that I had to install drivers, which are coming with FlashTool (see c:\Flashtool\drivers\).
After that fastboot connection went just perfectly fine and I was able to finish this HOWTO: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Sony_Ericsson_Xperia_Mini:_Full_Update_Guide

what firmware?
Hello guys,
I´m new here, and before everyone starts throwing stones on me , I´ve already tried some steps and got stuck (the welcome video is awesome! hehe).
Well, I tried to update my android on my phone, and after the reboot, got stuck on sony ericsson title screen.
1. I searched over the internet same issues, and i got this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1602489 .
2. I followed Someguyfromhell indications at this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1568792
3. I got the flash tool , PC companion, base drivers, and the ftf file for flashing.
4.After install flash tool, selected the ftf file, and got this message :
05/019/2012 14:19:47 - ERROR - ERR_SEVERITY="MAJOR";ERR_CLASS="SECURITY_CLASS";ERR_DYNAMIC="SIN header verification failed"
I think the rom file is not compatible with my phone (2010 production date).
I tried to find other ftf files, without success.
Anyone can help me with that?
Thanks in advance
Use the repair option in PC Companion to restore your stock firmware if at all possible.
After that, you can tell us how you tried to update the android on your phone, like: what did you want to update it to, which rom did you choose, what steps did you take...
By the way... the links you provided were for 2011 devices, Experia Mini and Mini Pro
the 2010 devices are Experia x10 mini and x10 mini pro. Different hardware altogether, I know it's confusing but please be careful where you choose your new software from
Don't feel too bad though, we've all made mistakes, just try to be a bit specific as to what you did first that made your phone get stuck, we can go from there.
well
Hello Guys,
After a loong search i found one ROM who fits with my cellphone - kind of old one.
I followed the steps on flashtool and "recovered". Sometimes it acts strange : if I turn off, it's very difficult to turn on in normal ways.. i need to plug on usb or re-flash... and if I switch the sim card, sometimes works, sometimes not...
Now its stable, but I think something is wrong.
and i got this information about my current version status :
Model : U20i
Firmware Version : 1.6
Kernel : 2.6.29 [email protected] #1
Compilation Number : 1.1.A.0.8
Is there any possibility to upgrade my android version?
use the upgrade option in PC Companion
Again... what rom did you download, what steps did you take.. be specific when you ask questions, and please, let us know if you tried the advice given when you ask a question

are you have try use SEUS new version to get SE original rom+kernel , its work to me when i downgrade my E10i from MiniCM9 to SE original stock.
if you want to upgrade your phone to android 2.3 you can try MiniCM7 for U20i or for MiniCM9 for android 4.0.4.
I already try used MiniCM7 and MiniCM9 with nAa kernel, and its work fine to my E10i.

so i dident flash ore fastboot the x10 mini pro u20i. i just restarted it in cwm and started to delete the davik and factory reset. then i got in mounts and storage and formated all i could format. becouse on a previous phone i had the galaxy s2 i did the same and i could do a clean install on that phone. but on this x10 mini pro after i did all this. i tought instead of installing the roms via cwm. i rebooted the system.
and now its stuck at the sony ericsson name and wont go in cwm. only flashmode works. also i tried xperia companion.
at the pc companion i got this error after entering flashmode and trying to repair it:

Dear developers,
I would like to ask for your help, since I, like others, have messed up my X10i.
***Note, I am a newbie. Before trying anything, the X10i had latest Sony stock GB 2.3.3***
First, phone got rooted & bootloader unlocked, via flashtool.
Then,
I installed this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1780398. It worked.
But, since I am in the process of testing & learning different things, decided I wanted to test that I could revert to the stock rom, which I had hoped it was backed up correctly with ClockWorkMod. Something must have gone wrong. Stuck at SE logo (sphere).
Later,
I figured I should try and flash the X10_V1_BLRelock_oemkernel.ftf ( i assumed that was the stock one, in the C:\Flashtool\firmwares folder). The ICS 4.0.4. rom I had flashed, previously, would require the kCernel-CM9-v03.ftf (however, since wi-fi would not work, I changed to: X10_CUSTOM_kernel.ftf).
Thus, after flashing to the X10_V1_BLRelock.ftf kernel, now stuck at the SE logo (letters: Sony Ericsson). Problem is that now in flashtool I get:

PC Companion also does not detect the phone anymore.
AND,obviously phone is not recognized anymore & cant do much. Could you provide some of your wisdom to a dummy?
Have you tried to flash Stock 2.3.3 ftf firmware with Flashtool?
For the info: BLrelock ftf is not a kernel, its to relock the bootloader again.

Big Thanks to G-Face for his tip. Worked out pretty easily. It was all my fault, being dumm.
*Thanks for the clarification. That's what happens when some1 is stupid . Obviously "BL" stands for bootloader and "relock" ...well duh (lmao). I choose the wrong file, and I'm sure this messed things up even more*
