Blared out by the flash though.
Vignette worked fine with the AF too.
Cant do it !! with nothing on , it focuses, then blurs, so the picture is taken blurd, even though it saw it fine and focused ok.
Vignette ???.... mmmm do you dip the phone in that stuff?? LOL

I have read somewhere there is no setting its just auto for macro, but having never tried it I can't confirm sorry
Xperia S white
auto focus , just zooms in and out ... i have a 3rd party which will take macros.. of sorts... lets hope ICS fixes this !!
I'd say the minimum focusing distance is around 5cm for me on the stock camera app, which seems pretty reasonable to me. Perhaps like seanicca said, maybe the phone just tries to AF regardless of distance?
I mean, not all cameras have a "macro mode" per say (ex. most DSLR class cameras don't), as all it really is just software that tells the lens to search for focus with a closer and more narrow range of distance. Its benefit was really just to make the AF faster. Maybe they just decided to do away with it as the phone can handle focusing on a wide distance range quick enough to make the shooting experience simpler?
Here is a macro I took on auto settings. I think it turned out great.
How do you do it ?
been trying loads of things wit the stock camera, nothing is working .. i just get the focus zooming in and out , tried touch focus ( with the 5 dots .. ) no good..
My picture took in marco mode:
Just point the camera close to the toy, wait for focus and...

There is a limit to how close you can go, if the focusing is unableto lock, you just need to back off until it locks. This is not your point and shoot compact which can take a picture as near as 20mm.
Very strangely, I was playing around with the camera on the bus in the dark, and for a brief two seconds the camera displayed the macro flower in the top left in the stock camera app when it failed to lock onto anything (it was really dark and I disabled flash). so it appears that macro mode is automatic.
However, I've not seen the macro flower icon since in any other shooting opportunities, even when I'm shooting something close around 5cm distance.
Weird, but I'm not complaining since it works fine.

I've been searching for a good review for the camera phone lens, but all I found was reviews using stock photos and amateur photos. So here's my review!
I'm a Model builder and I always take photos of my models. Im not an amateur photographer. Sometimes I go to stores and, if I see model I like, I would take a picture of it. But since the wizard camera sucks, there’s really no point.
so here's a simple review I wrote.
http://nlstudio.us/VK/phonelens/phone.htm
great review
Nice done! even though its not a "camera" phone.. the pics were pretty good after the photoshop tweaks! nice review and the lenses dont look that bad!
Good review although not worth $51!!!
would you agree that the macro lens makes the best improvement?
would you agree that the macro lens makes the best improvement?
Nice.
thats pretty great!
off topic, how did you make it clearer with photoshop?
the macro lens is only good for very close close-ups.
it only had a like a 1 inch focus range.
for the tweaks, i used sharpening filter and edit the brightness and contrast.
thanks
some update on more field testing:
so far i only use the super wide angle often.

this pic came out bad, cuz i switched it to burst by accident.
but it looks cool.
If you want a fancy lens, buy a digital camera. Walking around with a stick on lens attached to your camera phone will make you look like an idiot.

LOL, it's magnetic, u can pull it off, when im not using i just pull it off and put it in my pocket.
i like to take random pictures of things, and i wouldn't normally bring a digicam everywhere i go, since my digi cam is a huge SLR, lol
I didn't know someone even made lenses like that! I take my phone lots of places I wouldn't dare take my fancy camera (and I'm SO sick of that condescending "get a real camera" crap in general) so I may have to spring for a set. Thanks for the review and pix!
oh yea, u before u buy, u can create ur own wide angle lens with door peep hole lens, only thing u need to do it, find a way to clip it on, lol
This type of lenses is also sold on ebay for approx GBP 3 per lens.
I dont know if they are better/worse but sure they are cheaper.
search for "gummi phone lens"

I went to see a Mozart yesterday and a HD7 today and I can say personally I find the Mozart camera waaaaaay better. With the Mozart you can mmove the phone around and take a picture and it is perfect, no blurring whatsoever. But on the HD7 even holding it perfectly still it was blurring. BUT the HD7 is so much better looking! Both me and my missis were blown away but the Metro UI, so smooth and responsive.
oh really?can you show more about them?such as cpu。。。。
no review without shots man! show samples!

Wow, seriously?! That's from the Mozart???
I read in a Pocketnow review that the camera was rubbish. Clearly they were wrong.

That pic is from the HTC 7 Mozart, I got one from Telstra on the launch day. I had issues with the headphones so now I sent it to back to HTC. I took that a few days back in the macro mode
what are the different modes for the camera? from what i read there aren't any.
My touch pro has a good camera with a lot of modes and brightness settings I use, this is a feature that I think should be available for the mozart.
I dont have the devicce with me now, Will add it once I get it back. If I forget just give me an shout on Twitter @1800PocketPC

The scene modes on my Mozart are: Auto, Portrait, Landscape, Sports, Beach, Backlight, Candlelight & Macro.
There is also are also options to adjust the metering mode, resolution, effects and Flicker correction but that's about it.

From the bad engadget review it sounded like it didn't have much to prove. Id really like to see a professional photographer review this phone for the least and not some worthless teenager. Those modes do sound reasonable. .
Can anyone give me some tips on taking good pictures with the camera on the phone?
Unless I'm in natural daylight, the pictures I take are almost always blurry or glossy looking.
I've enabled the anti-shake option and this seems to have helped some, however, it is still pretty bad. I've seen examples of pictures taken with this camera that look amazing, but I can never reproduce this.
Please help.
Do you manually focus, like tap-to-focus? You should try to and see if it helps. Maybe if the photos are blurry, either clean the camera lens if its dirty (you may want to check!) and go to setting in the camera app (stock or whatever the one you use) and make sure the focus mode is auto focus (or in some other apps Manual focus) and then try again. You really can take unbelievable photos with the phone. Me being a photographer for the past 6 years, it truly is awesome.
Here are some of mine I took all through the stock camera app untouched.

What settings were you using on the camera app to take the one of the fanta?
I've been doing some experimenting and I'm finding out that unless I'm outside, with lots of natural light, I need to use the flash, anti-shake, and often set ISO to 100.
Oops, I should have said reduce the exposure to -2.0 or ISO to 200 or 100.

I set the exposure to -1.0, everything else auto so I'm not quite sure.
I started a thread on this topic a while back, but things move pretty quick here you might not of seen it. Some good information there about taking pics
Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1291091
It's really all about your lighting and the iso. I also have my metering set to matrix. try experimenting to see what works best for you.
Hi chaps, i know most gettin the phone soon, share your best pics when u get it,
Had it for a day so far...
What I will be doing in coming days is comparing side by side with lg g7 with the gcam port.
And taking wide angle landscapes with front camera (just flipping phone around).
More to come...

First pictures with natural bokeh and portrait mode. It was a cloudy day so the pictures aren't as vibrant as they could be.
Pot stickers for dinner.
A couple more...
After using gcam ports on several recent phones, it's nice to have a zsl real deal gcam again for a change! View attachment 4624461
Nothing fancy here, but I just love how crisp and detailed the images are!
Even taking up close pictures that are quick are really clear. Took this before going to Home Depot for more. Wasn't trying to get a super clear picture and was a little worried I was going to have to retake it with how blurry it looked on screen before I snapped it. Looks way better than I expected it to. Loving this phone so far!
Natural bokeh, no portrait mode, auto awesome in Google photos
Love, love, love this camera

How did you get that close?!
First pic I took, not bad
This camera amazes me. Here's one I took fooling around just to see what was possible.
In Italy. Breathtakingly good camera. I have also been regularly flipping the phone around to get wide angle shots out of the front camera (non selfies).
Hello everyone,
Pictures, i can't say how impressive.
I was trying to get a review from people about Pixels but then I decided to give mine.
Let's see if Pixel 3 is worth the price.
Let me know !!!

Hi everyone I have one question. Maybe my phone is bad?
So when I shoot pictures in a room that isn't that bright and the phone turns on night mode and I try to focus on my dog (he is black) the pictures appear blurry and my dog isn't focused but when I use the flash the photo turns out great.
For example when I picture with my old P30 Pro and use night mode everything looks good.
Did someone else had the same issue?
Thanks
Anyone?
I had to login to my, god knows how old, xda account just to report I'm having the same issue, which in my case is not tied directly to night mode but rather to all modes.
I don't know if this is a bug or a fault but my Ultra has a really hard time focusing on anything in dark rooms. It seems the autofocus when moving the phone works fine until I tap to focus on anything, then it just blurs and the focus no longer works until I get more light, restart the camera or switch lenses.
This happens on all camera apps I've tried so far. It only happens in dim environments. My lenses are clean and I dont use any lens covers.

I am having the same issue with my S23 Ultra. It probably started after the recent software update.
It was working good around a week before. Now it's not. I didn't change any settings or put any lens covers.
Yeah same thing here. When there is low light, focus is not working at best. Atleast compared to my old P30 Pro which has much better night mode indoors.
Since it happens to other people I doubt phones are faulty.
Same for me. I think after the last update.

Same problem here: s23 ultra isn't able to focus in extreme low light scenes, and pictures result blurry. But if I cover with a finger the laser sensor, focus works well. Very slow focusing without laser but it works.
This issue must be fixed by Samsung as soon as possible. As to mention, p40 pro was a beast with ultra dark scenes!.
Update: my s23 ultra has just received latest ota upgrade, and I can say that now low light environment focus problem is solved! Great job, Samsung!
