I have a question, searched the forum, couldne see nothing on it.
I owned N95 8gb before, and there was an option to name pictures (automatically) in the date + number format.
In the Ray menu, not only I didn't see any such option, but when viewing picture files on the computer, I noticed, the files dont even have any metadata about time or date taken, type of camera, shutter speed or so... Am I missing something, or is it just so. I always used to keep pics on the comp foldered into years, then months and so on.

If you are using the stock camera, the exif should tell you all that data. If you are using another camera app, some don't put all the information of the photo in the exif. For example, i use vignette and it doesn't record all the important data in the exif.
As for the naming, with the stock i don't think it's possible. You should try other camera apps.

All it shows on the stock camera pictures is modified and of course permits.
While I don't really need all the metadata about camera type and all, just for the sake of labeling midit just have to resort to some third party cam. Shame tho, it ain't really broken.

Im looking for an alternate camera app to the stock ones. It needs to do both video and standard pictures. The only one so far I was able to find was LG Camera Pro all the other apps only are good for pictures.
Only issue with this app is currently there is a glitch with the flash thus making it useless in low light situations.
Main reason im looking for this is CM7 and MIUI roms don't allow to change save location for pictures or videos taken with the stock camera.
Thus the content is saved to the built in flash memory but I prefer having it saved to the external for easier access, transfer and since I have a memory card reader to transfer stuff faster as well
So basically need a camera app that does video and pictures and allows changing storage location
Any help would be appreciated
No one....so there is really only 1 app that does video and pictures that allows changing default save location
Got this today and love it but the pics don't show up in the Gallery until I rename them and remove the 'cameraZOOM' prefix part of the file name. Anyone else have this?

No. I installed the app today, and I am able to see the pics just fine in the gallery.
Judging from the lack of response, I'd say it looks like I'm the only one who has this.
I've been playing with more since my original post and what's really weird is that:
1) Pictures I take using the RAZR's stock camera app (not using Camera Zoom FX) show up right away in Gallery - and they are all in the same external SD folder.
2) After I powered off my phone, then turned it back on, the pictures I took using Camera Zoom (but not renaming the files) show up in Gallery. Although any new ones don't until I turn it off and on again.
This is strange. I installed QuickPic and it sees the pics right away, no matter which program I used to take them.
When you installed it, did you use Camera Zoom FX folder or the phone camera folder?
I installed to my external SD card with the path /sdcard-ext/dcim/Camera
For some reason, Gallery won't see them until I reboot. QuickPic sees them right away.
Hey guys,
I want to perform a complete DFG fix on my S3 (running SlimBean), so I want to free up as much memory as I possibly can. I have 3.7GB worth of photos and videos - is there a proper way to perform a backup and restore while keeping the date organization?
As a test I transferred my S3's DCIM folder to my Nexus 7's. The result was that the gallery was disorganized, where some of the videos where clumped together in the front, and images taken last year appearing before recent pictures.
So is there a way to restore the gallery while keeping the date organization of the photos and videos?
Thanks for the help!
You should have backed up with Dropbox... but any ways... you can still just copy paste to your computer. it will just change the modify date in your picture cata. Created date will stay untouched...
I have a backup on my PC + Google+. That's not the problem. I am worried that when I restore the images, I will loose the picture's data organization as it is now, sort of by when I took the pictures.
I guess there is no proper way.

Shouldn't this information be stored in the picture itself, talking about date when taken etc.?

Just copy and paste all the data you need to back up on your computer and copy them back afterwards.

I would assume so, but as I said in my original post, when I had transferred all the images on my Nexus 7, as a test, the gallery wasn't organized correctly, where some of the videos where clumped together in the front, along with some old pictures, followed then by the new pictures.
I am assuming I will face the same issue when I restore my pictures on the S3, and that's something I want to avoid.
I started off with the original Droid, and I remember when you would go into the gallery, the videos and photos YOU took separated themselves into different folders. Since then I haven't had a single android device that did that. Now It's just one big folder of your videos and photos in a big mess and I can't find them. Is there anything i can do to have it separate everything automatically like it use to? An app, an option? I feel like it's a huge step back and annoyance and right now i'm doing it manually every time i take a video. Thanks.
Is your gallery set on "Albums"at the top? There's too many different arrangement settings lol Also check out "quick pic" from the play store seems more responsive than stock gallery IMO.
edit: NM I see what your saying. Don't see anyway to push videos into separate folders taken from phone besides manually moving them.
