Here is a few snap shots of my Trek. Ill include any cabs i used and i have a few useful registry tweaks also.
I Have the 3125 from Cingular. I have more program memory than the other variants of this phone. Any tweaks or programs I mention worked fine on my phone but you may enounter low memory issues due to the size of some of the installs.
Pimp Your Startrek based on WM6.1 Professional v2
This is a tutorial on how I tweaked my Star Trek to near perfection.
System Volume Tweak
This gives your phone an overall additional boost on sytem volume. It works great sometimes you might have to reduce you volume a down 1 bar because it does get loud. Clipping and distortion may occur. I was satisfied. I didnt notice much distortion but think it also depends on how your music is mastered and what format.
Navigate through your registry and change the following keys.
HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\AUDIOGAIN\EAC_GAIN_EMBEDDED set value to 72
HKLM\Software\HTC\AudioGain\CODEC_GAIN_EMBEDDED set value to 00
The Comm Manager is a variant of the one use on the Kaiser (Tytn II or Tilt). The gradiance on some of the buttons because the 3G button and WIFI Button had to be omitted and it threw the natural order of the buttons off so thats why the shading is off but it works great. If anyone can post a fix for it please do. I had to use an additional program called (CM Settings) to remove the extra buttons. Ill include the cab in a later post. It can be removed once the change is made.
Cabs
Attached to this thread are the cabs i used to accomplish what is in the above post.
Theme Install
Unzip and drop the Vista theme in your Windows directory on you phone. Navigate to Start\Settings\Today and change your theme to Vista Black WM6
Audio Manager Install
Drop the Audio Manager Cab on your phone or storage card and install as usual. I installed on phone. (Works with no known Issues)
Touch Dialer Skin
Drop the Wizard ReTouched Dialer Cab on your phone or storage ard and install as usual. I installed to phone. Soft reset and you should have a new dialer.
Touch Calculator Skin
Drop cab on phone or storager card as usual. Install to phone. Open Calculator and it should be skinned like the Touch Calculator.
WMP Touch Skin
Unzip files to a folder in your desktop. Open that folder and select all and copy. Navigate through active sync to the path of \Program Files\Windows Media Player on your phone and paste the files there. Then open up Windows Media Player on your phone it should open to your library hit the back button it will take you to the player. Go to menu and select options navigate to the skins tab and you should be able to switch to your new theme by selecting the arrow button.
HTC Home
Do the usual drill in copying it to your phone. Install program to the phone. This installs the 6 button Home plugin. This is the older 1.5 plugin in so the weather tab is not functional until you modify the dll to update from the new server. Only bug that i found is that the brightness toggle and screen rotation locked up the phone. But i used the HHC program to customize the plugin and I omitted those buttons and replaced with programs i frequently used. I will post the tutorial on how to get the weather working (FOR US ONLY)
Install the Home DLL Patcher. This will update the HTC Home program to update the weather from the new servers. Then open the HH_0409_WeatherCities.zip and unzip it to your desktop. Open the HH_0409_WeatherCities.xml file in notepad and you will see a line like this <city name="Carrollton, US" loca="30117" land="United States" />Copy this line and paste it directly under the line you copied. This is the line that you will modify to add you custom city. Lets say I wanted to add ATLANTA GA as a custom city I would change it to be like this <city name="Atlanta, US" loca="30331" land="United States" />
The loca="30331" is the zip code that you will replace with your own.
The city name="Atlanta, US" is the the city name you will replace.
Once you add your custom cities. Save the file. Take the file you saved and place it in the windows folder on your phone and soft reset you phone. Now when you configure your HTC home plugin your city will show.
The Comm Manager is a replacement for the Kaiser but since our phones arent technically a smartphone anymore but they are viewed as Pocket PC by software installs we can use this updated Comm Manager. Put the cab on your phone and install as usual. Soft reset is recommended but not required. Now that the Comm Manager is installed next install the CM Settings program. This program will allow you to remove and add buttons on the new Comm Manager. It has a small foot print but you can remove it after the mod is made. Open CM Settings. It will say something like do you want to use an 8 or 10 button Comm Manager. Select 8. Using Fake Cursor navigate to the left side of the screen and select the middle Comm Manager it will turn GREEN. Navigate to the right side of the screen and select Flight Mode, Phone, Bluetooth, Mirosoft Direct Push, Data Connection, Ringer, Active Sync, and Wireless Modem. Deselect anything else like WIFI etc (You done have MS Direct Push installed but its kinda filling the last space on the Comm Manager since it is an 8 Button one. Otherwise it will give you an error message when you try to apply without it. Go to menu and apply settings. Select no on applying the default settings. You will get a confirmation that settings were applied. Exit out of the program and open up your Comm Manager and you should have 8 Buttons with MS Direct Push greyed out but all other buttons should work flawlessly.
More cabs...
More cabs... Yeah I could zip into one but im not at home.
UPDATE: I added SRS WOW HD driver. This is just icing on the cake for the volume registry tweak. Adds loudness and clarity. This version has the normal stuff but has an added input and output gain control. This helps with any clipping issues with internal speaker. The good thing is that it works with A2DP right out the box no registry tweaks required. It made my Jabra BT620s sound like studio headphones. I keep it on the head phones setting all the time even when using internal phone speaker. But when not using A2DP keep the SRS Center Effect below 30-40% this seems to control how loud the internal speaker gets. Any higher it sounds like garbage and you may risk blowing the speaker. Change everything else to your liking.
Added new Startup splash screen to match today screen. Drop the welcomehead.96.png into your windows folder.
Will add a new external display backgrounds. (screen that appears on the external display when the phone is open) I have one that will have the vista bars on the external screen but it gives the phone a look like your looking through the phone to the main screen. Kinda weird and creepy. I also have one for the htc logo that appears during the boot process.
Questions Comment Suggestions Welcome
good one.. would try it tonite...
This is really cool, but I have two questions:
1. Installing the dialer changed it in the regular OS, but not during PIN entry... any remedy for that?
2. The comm manager looks really weird, but you mentioned that... however, it doesn't seem to accept D-Pad / keyboard input... is that normal?

Hmmm, I can't find a version of the HTC Home plugin that doesn't terminally crash my install.
I've tried the one attached here, Schens, the older v1.0 but they all eventually (30 seconds or so) freeze the device and it needs a hard reset to get it working again.
Any other reliable ones floating around that you know of?
yup it freezes device. But u dont have to hard reset it. Just power off as usual, turn on again and QUICKLY disable htc home in settings. Is there any fix?
I will be compiling a list of tips and tricks as I'm getting used to my S740 that will hopefully help others ramp up more quickly.
Desired Result: I'd like to have my phone lock when the screen goes dark so I don't accidentally call someone from my pocket
Suggestion: assuming you've already tweaked your power settings to turn off display per your preferences, go to Settings, More, More, Key Lock. Select "Lock Device When Idle" and check "Unlock Device When Keypad is Opened"
Result: this ensures I don't call someone accidentally (power timeout for screen is set to 10 seconds, lock device when idle locks device when screen goes off) but still allows me to grab the phone from my pocket, open it, and txt someone without having to enter my pin.
Quickly Toggle Bluetooth On/Off
(an old favourite)
Desired Result: a quick way to toggle bluetooth on and off
Suggestion: install Bluetooth Toggler from this thread; map a SpeedDial button to it by going to the app (might be under Accessories), clicking Menu, Add to Speed Dial
Result: holding down that Speed Dial number = BT toggles
Here are some in which i have used and compiled :
CHomeConfig - Configure your Sliding Pane
clockontop - Display digital clock on top bar and make avalible on all screens (except home)
Dr.Gonzo Clear Fonts - Installs clear fonts (beautiful)
HTC_Touch_Dualt9_problem_patch - Disables XT9
mixtapeking1900-turn-sms-sent-notification-off - Disable "Message Sent" notice from SMS
moBluev2_1_setup - Receive bluetooth files to Storage Card
SMSBubbles - Display new SMS message on home screen.
Additionally, i wanted to check with you guys. I notice that on my default HTC Sliding Panels, the photos plugin is missing ! I have seen it on preview videos, but somehow it's not on my unit. Is it avalible on yours ?
Here are some more
spreset - soft reset
QuadSMS - Automatically resolve phone numbers to contact for SMS and Delivery Report
VGA MusicID - Music ID

I have it in my 740 rom on my shadow. are you also missing the reg entries for the pictures homescreen plugin ?
I doubt they removed it from the cpr. check the home.xml to see if they just removed it from there.
Guys remember chomeconfig will not save your configs after reboot.
so any homescreen order will be reset to default after reboot. at least on my 740 rom it doesnt save because the HTC home.xml is diffrent then normal 6.1 home.xmls
can anyone realize a direct link to "write new sms" on the home page?!?
thank you in advance!
Luca
ShadowMike,
Thanks for your info. I used CHomeConfig to check and looks like the CMyPhotos there, but disabled by default on HTC Home . Wonder why they did that.
Viskas,
If you change the default home screen from HTC Home to Windows Sliding Panel, the SMS/Messages plugin allows you to create new sms from the home screen.
However, i believe you should also consider the faster way to write a new SMS from the home screen, which is to just start typing the contacts NAME from the home screen, and select send SMS using the softkey. I think this is the best and fastest way to do it.

For people that want to have control on what is tweaked to allow them to easily revert back. You only have to add the following key to your registry for defaulting to abc mode instead of the annoying XT9 (see CM_ENT~1.001 in HTC_Touch_Dual_t9_problem_patch.CAB):
Key Name:
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9\IME

It seems people trying MorphGear on their HTC devices with Keyboards (HTC Hermes,Tytn II,Touch Pro, Touch Pro II etc.) are having problem with configuring/running MorphGear in full screen landscape and having issues on gamepad mapping in their hardware keyboards.
I have found a way to run playable games in landscape mode full screen with correct keypad mapping without installing anything except MorphGear and it's modules. (even no registry tweaking or adding files)
Although I have a non-HTC device (Acer Tempo M900), I see no reason why my method will not work on HTC devices with keyboards because:
1. They're both Windows Mobile
2. And of course, they all have keyboards.
So it got to work
Though speed may vary due to different processors.
There will be no screen resolution issues too. Acer M900 is WVGA and it runs MorphGear well in full screen landscape. Morphgear was made when VGA and QVGA devices dominated Winmo world.
So if you have an HTC device with hardware QWERTY keyboard and have issues in running Morphgear landscape full screen and glitches with mapping controls, please try my guide and let me know is my method works with HTC devices too, so all of us may enjoy running Morphgear in full screen landscape and use our keyboards as decent gamepad controls. Give me feedbacks if it will work or not If this guide does not work with HTC Devices I'm sorry to waste anyone else's time, I just want to share, like everybody is doing.
How to Install Morphgear in M900 (and make it work in landscape hopefully with HTC devices with Keyboards too)
A. GDI Landscape (Full Screen)
1.Download Morphgear 2.4.0.9 in the official site http://www.spicypixel.com/web/page/morphgear/Home.aspx . Extract the files anywhere on your PC.
2.Connect device with ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Center, run the .exe files and install (to memory card). First install MorphGearSetupPPC2003. exe then others.
3.On the device, Run MorphGear (located in Games folder). Be sure the device is in PORTRAIT mode.
4. Click settings icon (3rd from the right) and select Global Settings.
set the following:
Driver: GDI
0rientation: North
uncheck- Disable full screen
uncheck- use virtual pad
Check- Enable Sound
CPU Throttle: High
5. Soft Reset Device
6. When the device resumes, slide the screen to set screen to Landscape and run Morphgear. After starting Morphgear, make sure that the settings icons and the MorphGear logo are in landscape too. If not, check Global Settings again to configure it correctly.
7. Now depending on what ROM you want to emulate, open settings and choose an emulator, for example, if you have a NES ROM, Open iNES then set Screen Size to Windows Size (for full screen landscape).
8. Scroll down and set Input. Double tap the controls (up,down, left, right etc.) and select keyboard keys(or even hardware keys) to map game controls. Then press ok.
9. You'll return to the main screen. Select the Folder/Open File icon (first icon) to locate your ROM (in this case the NES rom),select it and the game will automatically start. Double Tap screen to activate full screen. Enjoy the game.
10. If you want to play another console rom (like gba, snes, genesis etc.) just repeat steps 7 to 9. To close current game, choose Stop icon (hand) and choose exit game (choose exit MorphGear to exit the app).
It is interesting to note that TurboGrafx-16,NES,MasterGear,Gameboy GB and GBC run well in full screen landscape (based on my M900). SNES,Gameboy Advance and Genesis ROMs will still be playable also, but there is a little speed drop.
To get more fps and smoother speed, adjust video size (step 7) to Fit Windows or smaller. (don't add more frameskip (default is 3), it will just make the speed choppy). There is another option in emulator settings named Image smoothing, which is like anti-aliasing and smooths graphics but noticeably affects speed. (I recommend not using this setting)
Speed
It is interesting to note that using the RawFramebuffer as a Driver gives better speed than GDI,(based on my M900)which works effortlessly in Portrait. But making it work in Landscape mode full screen is a little bit tricky.
To use Rawframebuffer in landscape:
B. Rawframebuffer Landscape: (Full Screen)
1. Repeat step 3 (of the above GDI guide)
2. Do step 4 (above) but change set settings to:
Driver: RawFramebuffer
0rientation: East
uncheck- use virtual pad
Check- Enable Sound
CPU Throttle: High
3. Soft Reset Device
4. When device resumes, slide to reveal keyboard (this will automatically sets screen to landscape).BUT BEFORE running MorphGear, with/while keyboard slided out, change Orientation to Portrait.
5. Run MorphGear. Check if the settings icons are vertically situated in the LEFT side and the MorphGear logo horizontal (if this is the case you're in the right track).
6. Repeat step 7 (above)
7. Now the tricky part, in mapping controls remember that the directions are not what they seem. For example if your using keys W-A-S-Z as UP-LEFT-RIGHT-DOWN (IN GDI landscape mode), WHEN using Rawframebuffer, UP=LEFT,RIGHT=UP, LEFT=DOWN, DOWN=RIGHT.
Yup it's a little bit confusing, but it's the only way to get logical direction controls. If you want to use W-A-S-Z, just set it this way:
UP-A
LEFT-W
RIGHT-Z
DOWN-S
And click ok.
8. Locate and Choose ROM.Tap screen to set Full Screen. Enjoy Game. (Refer to Step 9 above)
9. If you want to play another console rom (like gba, snes, genesis etc.) just repeat steps 6 to 8 on this Rawframebuffer guide.
NOTE: One important thing to remember is NEVER activate the device's LANDSCAPE mode WHILE using the RawFramebuffer or you'll end up a jumbled display. If this happens, just totally exit Morphgear via exit button or via task manager, switch to portrait mode while the keyboard is slided out and run MorphGear.
To sum up things, if you want to have Playable Games in Full Screen Landscape.
1. For TurboGrafx-16,NES,MasterGear,Gameboy GB and GB ROMs,use GDI.
2. For SNES,Gameboy Advance and Genesis ROMs,use RawFrameBuffer(TurboGrafx-16,NES,MasterGear,Gameboy GB and GB ROMs works great in RawFramebuffer too, but as I said, it's a little bit tricky.)
To have more speed.
1. Adjust screen size to Fit Window or Smaller.
2. Disable Image Smoothing.
3. For even more speed, play Games in Portrait Mode ( just set Global Settings/Orientation= North, applicable for both GDI and RawFramebuffer.) But why bother portrait, games are still playable in landscape, and our device have a KEYBOARD remember? (reminds me of the upcoming PSP GO)
Enjoy!
AFAIK this guide works with HTC TYTN I,HTC TYTN II,SE Experia,Acer M900 and TP1,TP2
Note:
I read somewhere that there is a workaround for htc touch pro and pro (button key 229 solution from rhodium thread)
1.
- Go to button setting in Morph Gear.
- before click the assign button press and hold the ctrl key
- then you can enter the hardware key you want
now you can play by holding ctrl and the mapped keys
2-
- go to global menu in Morph Gear
- in the submenu Input: click Polling Method
Miscellaneous:
To use a WVGA compatible Screen Gamepad (to use while playing in portrait mode) check here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=489147
For Game ROMS, just Google it
I also uploaded a video to show all how playable it is with Acer M900. Video is in here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XocdojhNpo
Below is a screenshot of a NES game I'm playing with M900.

Thanks for the tip. It worked like a charm. Now I can actually play games the proper way. By the way I have a htc tytn2 with windows 6.1.
Nice to hear my method worked on an HTC device
Anyone tried my method on other HTC models with keyboard?
mapping controls
Ooookay! Thanx for the superb step-by-step on how to setup MorphGear. I have the TMO TP2 w/stock ROM. I've had this app installed since Sep.15, 3 days after the release and I havent been able to figure out how to configure the console settings. So, I finally have the game up and running but when I got to assign my action buttons (particularly A, B, Select & Start), they all set as "229", whatever that means. What do think the fix to that could be. I'd appreciate any advise. I'm lost!
Hay,
I have the same problem, when I try to set the keys its "229"..
Maybe it is because I have the new manila 2.5.1919..?
Did you find away to have it set?
no change
nope... nothins changed. i still cant use my other keys. same results.
it seems there is really an issue with touch pro/2 keys...

hey,
I just found your other post in the Rhodium-thread and wanted to add this here, but you already did ;o)
But one should add that you mean the ctrl-key, it confused someone.
Thanks a lot for this advise, it worked with my rhodium!
This works

I used to have that problem on my hermes until I used the cab from this post. It seems to be connected with the T9 function.
Now that I have a Touch Pro running a wm6.5 rom I am unable to exit from the settings menu, any ideas? it may be something to do with the thinner taskbar.
Interesting. Thanks
THIS IS FOR HTC TOUCH PRO / PRO2
I HAVE A HTC TOUCH PRO2 AND ALL MY KEYS WORK JUST FINE AFTER I SET THEM
1.
- Go to button setting in Morph Gear.
- before click the assign button DOUBLE PRESS FN KEY FOR 2ND FUNCTION THIS WILL LOCK ON YOUR 2ND FUNCTIONS COMMAND AND ALLOW YOU TO CHOOSE ALL YOUR KEYS AND PLAY YOUR GAMES JUST FINE WHEN YOUR DONE PLAYING SIMPLY HIT FN BUTTON AGAIN TO TURN OFF 2ND FUNCTION AND USE YOUR PHONE NORMALLY- then you can enter the hardware key you want
now you can play by holding ctrl and the mapped keys
Now the tricky part, in mapping controls remember that the directions are not what they seem. For example if your using keys W-A-S-Z as UP-LEFT-RIGHT-DOWN (IN GDI landscape mode), WHEN using Rawframebuffer, UP=LEFT,RIGHT=UP, LEFT=DOWN, DOWN=RIGHT.

i cant get sound on my m900, whats wrong? thx
does this work on 6.5.1... i have a TMO touch pro 2 .. i am not able to set the driver to GDI.. even if i select it , it wont change.. also i cant close morphgear both the start buttons and ok buttons stop working ... guess it will work only in 6.1 or 6.5
They took GDI out of wm 6.5, there is a fix floating around that either unlocks it or puts it back in.
Look for it.
Also how to I take the screen out of lanscape mode with a Sprint TP2, there does not seem to be a way to change it back once the keyborad is slid up.
why don't work on my i780??

Below is a screenshot of a NES game I'm playing with M900.

not to sound like a lazy asshole but can you just post you morphgear settings there in HKCU\Software\MorphGear. Thanks
This guide worked perfectly for me, now I can play everything in full screen on my TP2, thanks a lot for the information! And b the way SNES plays just fine without having to do rawframebuffer
nice! thanks for posting

Hay,
I have the same problem, when I try to set the keys its "229"..
Maybe it is because I have the new manila 2.5.1919..?
Did you find away to have it set?

This is because of the t9 there is a disable t9 cab which works only you have to reset your phone and it disables your onscreen t9 i Found a great app for disabling t9 this is great for using the keyboard for morphgear without disabling your t9 on your onscreen keyboard. Its called kais T9 its only 3 bucks and it is very useful without having to install a cab on and off without resetting your device. Here check it out: http://www.pocketgear.com/en_US/html/display_product.jsp?id=prod7228134 only 3 bucks and is very helpful

I used to have that problem on my hermes until I used the cab from this post. It seems to be connected with the T9 function.
Now that I have a Touch Pro running a wm6.5 rom I am unable to exit from the settings menu, any ideas? it may be something to do with the thinner taskbar.

It looks like what happens is that Morphgear is not compatible with the new WM6.5 task bar. Basically, if you click where the OK button used to be in WM6.1 (top right hand corner) it should exit the menus with no problem. In my case, i prefer to use a taks manager software (i.e., pBar) where I can close the menu from. You can also try pushing the OK button in your Phone, however, this doesn't work after a game is already being played.
Now, has any of you guys achieve a decent speed using a Kaiser?
So, another Sudoku player hits the Pocket PC, so what's different about this one? As per 5x5, another puzzle game from the 'stephj' stable, it's small lean and mean, with a clear no nonsense display. It only allows you to play Sudoku puzzles, it does not generate them.
SUDOKU.EXE is in the file Sudoku.zip
Written in eVC++ as a Win32 application, it requires no extras, or runtime, only the executable, which itself is under 16Kb in size. All the DLLs it calls are already on your device as part of the WinMo operating system. As it is targetted at WM2003 and the ARMv4 instruction set, the lowest common denominator, it should run on all Pocket PCs. The main menu is limited to two items so it will appear correctly on WinMo 5 onwards, as can be seen in the screen dumps. Just drop it onto your ARM powered Pocket PC and run it.
As it requires a touch screen, FileOpen, and FileSave dialogs, it will not run on Smartphones, and will say as much if you try and run it. It can deal with screen orientation changes, and will run on the majority of common screen formats. On QVGA landscape it just fits one way and on a 240x240 square device things get even tighter. It has been tested on the all the current emulator images. If it doesn't behave on your device, send bug reports on the back of a cigarette packet to the usual PM address, or just report them in a post here.
It creates and uses the file "\Sudoku Save.dat", in the root directory of your device. If the program is terminated by Task Manager or by the WinMo OS when resources start to get a little tight, it will dump the current state of play to this file. When the program is restarted, the state of play resumes where you left it, but if the machine is soft reset, this auto-save feature will be bypassed.
There are two ways to get a puzzle started.
1.) If you want to use one printed in a newspaper, for example, you can edit your own starting puzzle pattern, by selecting 'New' from the menu. The grid background turns light grey to remind you that you are in this mode. Highlight the number in the selection box and tap a square to drop the number in it. When all the starting numbers have been entered, and you are ready to go, select 'Play' to store this as the starting position, and start playing the game. The background returns to white. Save this start position as a puzzle that can be loaded again later if required.
2.) Alternatively create a text file, (.TXT) using your PC (Notepad) or PPC Pocket Word to create a Sudoku file using zeros as space fillers, similar to the following :-
White space is ignored so the files:
Code:
049000050
000050600
000302000
200030006
504010902
800070001
000004000
007090000
020000480
or
049000050000050600000302000200030006504010902800070001000004000007090000020000480
are identical, and create the puzzle shown in the screenshots.
Use the 'Open' menu to select and load this file.
The program will not let you play an invalid move, but it will let you play an incorrect one. To undo a move, tap the square again and it will clear, providing it was not part of the original start pattern. The menu option 'Reset' will clear the grid back to its original start pattern. The selected number can be changed by tapping the new number in the selection box, or alternatively, moved to the next number by use of the Left/Right buttons of the D-PAD, Up/Down in the case of landscape.
Two moderate puzzles are included. SUM07121.TXT is the puzzle above, as shown in the images.
SUGET.EXE is a .NET CF 1.1 program that can download a daily Sudoku puzzle from the internet and save it in the above format, that this program can load and play. It will run on later versions of CF .NET. It is posted here
