Is true and I am not certain that every time you update email manually that it Works. I have the same problem. The solution for now is use a alternative like K9 referred by sdk16420.
Regarding using GB email apk on ICS it works but last time I try it with ICS it as some bug I canĀ“t remember.
I believe krabappel2548 is doing something about it on his rom.
The last option is wait for final ICS on our phones and see what Sony did !

[Q] Facebook Push

Does the facebook push (version 1.5.1) work on any rom.
Because the push function needs 2.2. So it cant work on the stock
But i tried a lot of roms and it doesnt work on any of them.
So if somebody has experience or knows how to get it work pls tell me
iPhone, BlackBerry and all phones support push so why not ours
thx for replys
I've had same issue with facebook. Its absolutely rubbish.
I set facebook to send me emails to my gmail account (with an appropriate label and filters to keep them seperate). When facebook gets an update it emails me and then gmail pushes it to my phone. Its awkward but the only way I can get it to work, every once in a while oddly enough I do get a facebook push notification - but its completely random and on about 1percent of messages.
Google+ works tremendously well however so I assume it's facebook being rubbish. Just need more friends to move over to google+ then I can wave bye bye to facebook.

It worked for me.. But I felt it annoying so I turned off facebook sync
on which rom ?

E-mails not showing as read using hotmail

Hey all,
I recently upgraded to ICS on my samsung galaxy SII using KIES. Since the update i cannot get the stock e-mail client to show my hotmail e-mails as read on other devices.
For example, when on GB if i read an e-mail on the phone while i was out, and then checked my e-mail on my computer when i got back home. The e-mail would show as read on both devices.
But since ICS the e-mail only shows as read on the phone, is there any way to change the settings so that it works the same as it did on GB?
All other e-mail/calender/contact syncing works correctly as does sending/recieving and deleting e-mails. It is only the read massages that seems to be an issue.
My phone is not rooted and is XEU model running 4.0.3 XLPS.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
I had the same problem using email configured through Samsung sns.
I ended up using the exchange (push) option during setup. Once setup, goto menu / settings / tap your account / scroll down to "in case of conflict......" and change to "....... update to server"
Works for me.

Thank you for your suggestion UpInTheAir, i have tried this on my phone but i am still getting the same results :-( Do you have any other ideas?
I haven't used K9 email from Google Play since Froyo days on the HTC. You could check it out and see if that's working. The only other thing I can come up with is trying another firmware or custom ROM.
Ok, just rechecked myself. Seems to be intermittent!
I had some showing up as thread as well. I increased from 3 days to 1 month sync andlet it reload the app inbox, selected the first unread and refreshed my html email.worked, showing the previous unread message as read. Now I read another unread and or doesn't work. When back to 3 days sync and didn't work.
Bummer, just wonder if this is for just hotmail account or other. Will have to search XDA and Google to see about this bug, surely the question had been asked somewhere before?
Edit : tried a couple of modded email apks but no good.
Tried official Hotmail app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hotmail.Z7
Any changes to inbox seem to work and will show up on the Web inbox within a few minutes. Emptying the trash folder doesn't sync with the server though. Also don't know if it's a battery hog and causes wakelocks etc. yet.

Might try wanam's hacked LP8 stock email

But of course you'll need root

[Q] Why samsung stock email app is so slow

I'm running on CF-Root + Siyah 1.2.6 kernel + stock ROM (+ modified NFC_screen off). ROM is XXLE8.
I've been using the stock email since the begining (with only root & stock rom) with 3 Exchange accounts synced.
Email app is taking forever to launch. Navigation in email app is laggy.
Whenever I want to move emails to subfolders, it takes ages to get the whole list.
I'm still running a Samsung Captivate Glide (Rogers ROM, root, OC @1.3GHz) with Android 2.3.5 : email stock app synced with these 3 exhange email accounts: it is clearly faster, no latency at all.
Even when it comes to load the same subfolders to move emails ...
Right now, it is really the worse "email user experience" I had.
Thought ICS would do better than that. :-(
Anybody else experiencing this ?
Is there any tweaks to make this app much, much faster ...
Is there a way to replace this "Samsung stock email app" (I guess) with the standard ICS one (only if it is faster) ?
Thanks
i have noticed none of the problems you experied with the email app. though i am only using it with one account synced. The app launches instandly and never lags or something similar, try removing 2 of your accounts and see if the problem is still there. its the only thing i can think of now, if the problem persists maybe another app you installed interferes with the email app and causes problems or...?

I removed one account ...same. Slow as "usual".
I remoed 2 accounts (only one left) ... same.
I wiped the whole device. Reset to factory defaults.
Loaded one Exchange account: email app was definitely faster.
Added a second one (Exchange) ... started to get slow ... Not as slow as it was, but slower.
Found a thread mentionning a way to replace Samsung stock email app with ICS email app. Going to try that...
Same very annoying problem here.
Any chance to get the stock nexus email apk here?

E-mail app?

Why standard e-mail app (semcemail.apk) in ICS not automatically check mail? I try to replace semcemail.apk with AOSP email.apk. same problem! On GB all works good. On Xperia neo I was find this problem on ICS beta and solve by replacing semcemail.apk with one from GB firmware and it works fine. Unfortunately, GB email app version not works on stock ICS on Xperia P and Neo. May be something is wrong in settings, I was trying 5 min checking interval?
Now I use K-9 mail app, but this app uses lot of battery.
tried automatic push?

Solved!
Must be on phone settings: Accounts & sync - ON / e-mail / syn on

exchange mail, Sony stock email app, high battery usage

Is anyone using stock email app for exchange mail?
I was using the one from .587, it was ******, then I thought maybe in 2012 xperias they fixed it so I used email app from xperia P, but no..
Push is eating battery(not to much), ok.. I could survive that, after all it's push.
But I can't stand battery drain after simple mail check.. sync is set to manual, I just check if there is any email and in 7 out of 10 times it start eating battery right after, sometimes I need to restart it 2 times.
Using stock app for other types of mail is ok, but I can't believe that Sony still didn't fix that exchange service.. or is down to android itself? I read some other manufactures have same problems..
I tried TouchDown HD, it was good for emails, but I need stock app for integration with phonebook.
Me too
mail app eating battery like hell
Cm10 has better mail app but i don't like cm10 not stable as well
Did you try mail app from leaked .13 firmware maybe they fixed the problems
Anyway
Sony uses mail app v4.0.1 and exchange service v4.1
Old version doesn't help stability
They should do something or just need to update app

Didn't try the one from .13, could try it..
Titanium backup (as I'm not sure how else to check) is showing that email app is 7.0.A.0.32 and exchange service (like you said) 4.1.

Looks like its not problem in email app but in exchange services..
