Update .21, Google maps pathetic performance!! - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Strangely enough after update .21 and after the latest Google maps update, it keeps crashing without any error message. Now I even tried removing the maps update and cleaning up the cache and data from setting-apps, still no use. Since it crashed even after restoring previous version of maps, I suspect issue with prime update.21, had anybody else faced the same, any solutions?

Yes, same issue here. I found that a reboot seems to fix the problem for a few days.

Change the damn heaadline for ****s sake, it looks like something positive on the surface!

Changed subject. More to the liking, is it! Eh!!!

I have the same frequent google maps crashing problem. Reboot helps for a day or 2. Currently I have ver 6.5.0. The crash happens frequently, and no error message. ANNOYING!!!

Maps been working fine for me here... even checks me in fine on latitude when i get home or to work...

guys, the crashing has nothing to do with the .21 update. I had this happen to me prior to updating and after doing so. I actually did a soft reset after updating to .21, and I have not have any google map issues since.
FYI, A soft reset DOES not erase any data, think of it as a nap during work, it rejuvenates the Prime

[Q] "Connected to Multimedia Station" Notification

Hello!
First, let me please say that I am entirely new to the Android world (former iPhone owner). I absolutely love having a phone that runs on the Android system, but it is quite the adjustment! I'm slowly learning... or trying to.
A notification stating "Connected to Multimedia Station - multimedia station is currently connected" appeared on my phone. When this appeared, my phone was not connected to any other source. I am unable to exit out of this notification. Since it appeared, many aspects of my phone have changed and/or are not working. When the notification appeared, it altered my lock screen, home screen, and icons. Many apps will not open, and I receive an error message when I attempt to open them. In addition, my app store will no longer work. I cannot download any apps or make any updates. I receive error messages with those as well, and then the program force closes.
So, I guess my question is this: What in the world happened?? How do I exit out of this notification/program that randomly connected, and restore my phone to how it was previously?
Ok, so that's more than one question. I appreciate any and all assistance!
Ok, that even confuses me. Whenever it happened, do you by chance remember what you were doing? Plug it in to your comp? The wall? Anything? Have you tried rebooting or pulling the battery?

I actually was not using my phone when it appeared. My phone was simply on my work desk. When I had a moment, I picked up my phone to use it, and noticed what had happened. It was not plugged in to any source. I have not tried rebooting or pulling the battery... which seems like common sense to try, I'm sure, but I was afraid of messing it up even more! Just being cautious!
I would try to reboot and if you are unable to, then I would pull the battery.
Also, welcome to XDA and thanks for the thanks Make sure you hit the thanks button for those like the poster above me whenever someone helps you out. You're limited to only 8 thanks per day, so use them wisely

Hello! It's taken me quite some time to find my way here; have been reading and gathering questions/thoughts for some time on threads in which I am not permitted to post...I guess this initial foray is in this location because I too have been getting this "Connected to Multimedia Station" notification and see no resolution tothe issue - It has happened several times at work usually at a consistent time/location-- turning wifi/BT off does not resolve as doesn't Airplane mode- rebooting fixes it fine--yet inquiring minds need to know!

I, too, wish I knew from where this notification came. Rebooting does fix it, but only temporarily. The notification would appear again in only a matter of days. I have since installed a new rom, and I have not seen the notification since. Wonder if backing up the phone then wiping the cache would do the trick for good... but still, I also want to know why it happened in the first place!

I am using liberty rom and I have had that problem on this rom only. I find it happens when I have had my phone on for days straight. A simple reboot fixes it And makes my phone run faster. Nothing I have found works even freezing in titanium. Just reboot

Connecting to DM server

I got this out my phone a few weeks ago when I checked to see if I had an ICS update
Of course I didn't.
Well now this message "connecting to DM server" stays in my notification bar. It also stays running. I did a check to see how much they battery life it was eating and it was well over 60%.
I tried the settings, manage apps, att update, clear cache but it still ran.
I finally used app quarantine to stop it.
Well now that we may get ICS soon I want the update option to run with out it running at all times.
Anyone else having this issue?

Connecting to DM Server
I had the problem today. Went to manage Running Apps and was able to stop.
If this does not work, did you try rebooting the phone?
I have tried resting the phone.
I even shut the phone off and took the battery out for 5 min.
It won't go away unless I put it in app quarantine.

I'm also having this same problem and have done everything that you've done to try and fix the problem, but it's still happening. Have found a fix by chance? This has been going on for about a week or two.

Load titanium backup and freeze it, or you could delete it too.
I just deleted it.....g
Mine just started showing this in the notification tray yesterday. I can freeze it and the notification goes away, but I don't think we want to delete it though, right? Isn't this how the phone connects to the AT&T server to get software updates? I figure I'll freeze it for a few days then defrost it and see if it fixes itself or connects to the server.

My prime slows down my entire home internet network! (Solved)

EDIT:
PROBLEM SOLVED
It was google plus, I downloaded a networking app, and it turns out G+ was sending and downloading a ton a data, i stopped the App and internet speed went back to normal.
I found this pretty hard to believe. I've been having internet issues at home for a few weeks, perhaps since 0.28? I have been calling back and forth with my ISP and bought a brand new router yesterday. I could not figure out why my internet would go from 9-10Mbps to 1-2Mbps randomly, it was infuriating. I finally noticed that when my prime wasnt connected to wifi my internet speeds were fast. I ran a speed test while my prime was connected to wifi getting 1.4Mbps, and pressed the wifi button on my Prime to turn it off, and instantly my speed test went to 9Mbps.
How is this occurring? Is there an app that could cause this?

Nothing was downloaded. I did a soft reset (holding side button for 30 seconds) and immediately after it booted my internet slowed down again. I'm glad I figured out what was causing the issue, but this is definitely a strange problem.
I may have to factory reset : [

If it was doing like mine was, and constantly uploading then I'm sure there was a real life improvement. I wonder if anyone else with wifi issues needs to stop google plus
Isn't G+ bloatware? Did you just disable G+ or uninstall it all the way. I tried to uninstall it (not rooted or unlocked) and all I got was app info not uninstall. I disabled it. Will this cause other unforseen problems?

Very likely syncing up photos. If it's maxing out your upload will be congesting the download too. Turn off photo sync in the application options.

[Q] S3 freezing or switching off

In the last few days my phone has continuously been switching itself off or freezing and the only way to get it to work again is pulling the battery or resetting it. The phone is stock, running Android 4.1.2 with firmware I9300XXELLA.
I did notice the phone had switched itself off a few times before now, but now it has got to the point where its happening all the time. I've also noticed that when the phone is booting back up after the lock screen appears the message "Currently unable to download please try again later" is coming up (which I think is more than likely the problem, but when I do attempt to update the phone it says its up to date).
So far I've tried running without an SD card, clearing Touchwiz homes data and switching off auto updates but these have made no difference. If anyone can offer any help it'd be really appreciated as the last thing I want to do is exchange the phone as it can be a pain in the butt.
Tried factory reset? I would suggest flashing the same firmware using odin and see if that makes any difference beforehands.

I've only ever used kies so will have to investigate Odin.
Out of curiosity is there actually a manual way to check for updates through Kies, as I can't for the life of me see how too?
If there is an update, kies would show you the next firmware details below your current one I think.

Hi, I'm laso getting the same issue with I9300XXELLA via Kies.
I've reset, cleared the cache and cancelled any restores but still it happening.
I'm going to downgrade to an older version to see if it resolves this.
I had to do a factory reset in the end and that fixed the problem. Still a bit annoying though as it took me a day to get everything back to how it was and like an idiot I forgot to backup my SMS messages and call history even though I had an app installed that could do it (SMS backup+).
Recommend one from ritesh or something. Works like charm every time I used it so far

Fixed
I wanted to test before posting but I ended up installing 4.1.1 then updating to 4.1.2 without wiping. Very strange.
As an update to this thread the problem came back even after I did a factory reset. I didn't get the unable to download error message but I did keep getting the odd freeze. However after a day of doing it the problem weirdly stopped happening and now 'touch wood' is fine again.
I also wiped cache and reset my phone running stock 4.1.2 on O2. The freezing problem seems to have gone, it's been a couple of days now and no issues. I should say that the only thing I haven't put on yet is Flash, I have a feeling it might be problematic?

SDS SYMPTOMS --------- Solution : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2091045
Ironically I think the reason my phone was freezing the odd time after I factory reset it was because I didn't have flash installed. After I sideloaded it the phone hasn't had any more issues (this could be a coincidence though).
Ive just ran the eMMC checker that nhariamine linked to and it says that my chip is susceptible to sudden death (VTU00M, revision 0xf1) and is an insane chip.
Does Samsung's most recent firmware address this, an if not can I get them to replace my phone even if it doesn't die?
The second day after I did a factory reset my phone froze once too and it hasn't since then(about a week) I'm still afraid of installing flash. I use Dolphin browser and I can set the user agent to iPad which loads HTML5 versions of videos etc, obviously this only works on sites that have this possibility. I guess I'm trying to wean myself of flash for now.

Out of curiosity what does eMMC checker say about your phone when you run it?
That it's an insane chip lol I was basically preparing myself for my phone to die. Since wiping my phone it's only froze once in the last week. I still haven't installed flash.

Same problem here.
Uninstalled flash to see if it helps.
Skickat från min GT-I9300 via Tapatalk 2
I have had this same issue for the past week and have just downloaded the eMMC checker and it seems I too have the phone that is susceptible to SDS.
I have noticed though that the phone only freezes when wifi is switched on though. I dont have any problems with wifi off. I downloaded lagfix from the playstore and ran that and it reduced the freezes from about 20 in a day to 3. I didnt realise wifi was the issue for me at that time though so it could be coincidental.
Updating Roms etc has not worked at all for me. If it keeps up for a few weeks i think i will need to change phones as its way too frustrating for a top tier phone to do this.
Same problem here
I've upgraded OTA few days ago... did a factory rest because the phone was slow... and yesterday the problem appeared out of no where!

Disabling "WiFi Power Save Mode" seems to solve it
1. Open up the Galaxy S3 phone dialer
2. Then dial *#0011#
3. Look for the “ServiceMode” screen and press the left menu button
4. Select “WiFi”
5. You should see that the “WiFi Power Save Mode” button is “ON” – now put it on “OFF”'
