you can backup/restore both stock/ custom roms, the default will restore the whole backup replcaing the existing one, you can make advanced restore to restore specific backup.
well i restore many times if iam not happy wiv the custum rom so yes u can restore back but hav a proper backup and don wipe the whole phone as the backup goes off sometimes.

Yea you can restore your stock rom any time with Cwm recovery. As long as you have cwm recovery in your new custom rom you can acess your backups. So be sure you flash cwm recovery on your custom rom btw most of rom's come with cwm so you don't have to worry if not you can flash cwm recovery from odin too. Just search on google about cwm touch
Hope it helped you.
Thanks me i my words are helpfull.
Thanks You All cuz im not happy with this rom i wanted to go back..thanks again

As far as my expereriance, after restoring a ROM form your backup it is always a good idea to wipe Cache and dalvik cache befor rebooting. (not the factory reset..that will wipe your applications this you do before restoring only)
how will you restore to stock via CWM if CWM is via a rooted kernel .
It will be a non stock kernel .

I think here everybody meant by "Stock" is the first ROM which was there in the phone..no matter its rooted with a custom kernel.....

But its not original and voids warranty if restored was my point .
Far easier to grab a download of the original rom .
OP did say stock rom and not custom rom so the answer is as always not via CWM its no longer a stock rom once rooted .

no need to worry its not a big problem, the reason you lost your CWM is because the kernal which comes with ligtening rom doesnt hav CWM. you can install a kernal with CWM like speedmod's kernal

Ur file system is ext4 now and stock Roms require rfs file system ...
Just flash a stock rom first, then restore your backup
P.S. confirm that the stock rom or custom rom based on stock u flash has rfs file system
Edit: or try to do a "wipe cache partition " if this doesn't work follow the above steps
well i guess that can be the problem. xperiatized is based on ext4 partirion system. and i've tried wiping cache but didn't worked.
i guess i have to flash rom through odin then :-(

But why do u want stock rom again? ?
Have u heard of an awesome rom called CM7 ?
yes man....one can't be so silly not knowing about cm ;-)
and does it mean that i will not be able to restore my stock rom again as almost all roms are based on ext4 partition?
You got the wrong file format, reflash stock via odin then try restore. Wipe cache after that
if I help please hit thanks

Lol I was just recommending cm7 ....dude u flash a stock rom via Odin first then root your phone again ( yes root access will get wiped by flashing stock rom) then install cwm and restore your backup ( if it has some important data it doesn't make sense to take all this trouble otherwise )

after restoring your backup, restore BOOT from a cm7 rom
I'm having the same problem, if i do a factory reset from Clockwork recovery,it will give me stock rom? I don't really want to use my pc when i'm going to turn back to stock because of possible usb/connection problems..
Try using stocklite, its DDKQ8. I like that rom a lot. Good battery life, speed and no bugs as far as i know.
If you don't want to flash it with odin try flashing Stocklite v6 and then restoring the backup

well after you flash a custom rom you can ALWAYS flash a stock rom over it with ODIN .......and you can also flash the stock recovery so when u take it for repairs those guys wont know if u had rooted or flashed a custom rom
note: the stock recovery is for GT S5830 ONLY not its variants like i, m , t , b

Yup perfect...... He can also install CWM and take backup of Stock and flash custom.... If he don't want to use odin!
In case of repairs, he can restore that backup an flash stock recovery zip...

Odin is easier and faster. But an easier way if u don't have a PC available .!

I may be wrong on that point, but I think reverting to stock using Cwm is not exactly the same as with odin. Doesn't odin also flash the original recovery, instead of cwm? In that case, if you have to flash back to stock in order to send your device for repair, maybe the safer would be to flash with Odin.

It installs the same firmware, as the cwm backup is of the same firmware . Just the diff is that the backup is rooted .

Ok. So, do you agree with this summary?
* to revert simply to the rooted stock rom, use Cwm.
* if you have to send your phone to repair and don't want to void your warranty, flash the original "not rooted" firmware with Odin.

#1 not so correct......when u flash a custom rom like cm7 ur phones file system becomes ext4 wheras stock roms require rfs file system so you CANNOT restore your stock rom backup over a custom rom with cwm .......unless your custom rom has rfs file system(which custom roms normally dont have)..

Hello everyone, greeting from Turkey!
First of all im a newbie for android rooting and romming etc. I ve always used stock roms since ive got this phone. Now Im running a I9100 (int.) with stock Turkish 4.1.2 (XXLS8) on it and i ve rooted it via superuser.zip with my stock recovery.
What i want to do is to install CWM and want to flash a RELIABLE and Long Battery life rom. Are there anyways for me to install a CWM without using odin (via stock recovery). And can you please suggest me a good rom for daily usage. (i want to use vanilla android btw [just like nexus]).
Thank you for your helps.
I don't know much about roms/kernels for the international version, but you will need to flash a stock kernel with cwm and then just choose a rom from your development thread and follow the instructions, don't forget making backups and reading a lot, you can start from flashing cyanogenmod.

As i said i dont know about international version kernels, but it should have a tag like "stock kernel" or something like that if its for stock, just install it and you will have cwm, if its not stock it wont be installed anyway.
