i need help modding framework-res.apk from miui ics. i looked at a lot of the tuts and they didnt help me. can i have help or can someone do it for me?

just recompile it with those xmls from apktool without it bootlooping. or getting the on screen buttons is another way of saying it

edit: please help me:
here is the framework-res.apk file which i want to change. i tried with apk manager but not working in my phone may be im doing something wrong while compiling it.
so my req is pls decompile it and place the attached style.xml (overwrite it)into res/value/ folder and compile it and give it back to me.
i done everything but compiled file not working for me i am doing something wrong while compiling. so plz help!

first decompile the apk and then u will find this folder

edit : agree with shocklads..u can find smali files with deodexed rom only.btw please ask question in FAQ section

I have been trying to edit the framework-res.apk for Cyanogenmod 10 for days now and come across countless problems. All I am trying to do is edit the ui so I may have the on screen buttons but every time time I decompile the apk it just wont recompile. No matter what app I decompile I just cant get it to recompile no matter what, even with no changes. So if someone who actually knows what they're doing can please offer some assistance so I may learn or even edit it for me that would be greatly appreciated.
The location of the change needing to be made is res/values/bools.xml line 57 needs to be set true

Idk if this worked. I got an error when compiling but I think it still did it correctly. Rename to Framework-res.apk.
(I think you might need to use twframework-res.apk as a dependency.)
Couldn't get it to work. Thanks for the help though. I think it might just be jellybean apks that aren't able to edited yet.

Prddog1 helped me out on this, I was using an outdated apktool. Pm him. He can send you the latest build.

a have a little problem with apkmanager tool i cant decompile any apk from my costum deodexed rom xxlsj 4.1.2
as i see This is a common problem with many people here and no body put a solution yet
so i wonder if anyone know about it let us get it

As far as I know you need a modified version of Apktool to get it work. Checkout RootzWiki, there is a nice guide out there.

using the latest version of APK Multi-Tool and everything works like it should
decompiled a lot of lsj apps with it without any problem
maybe you should try it as i also think its one of the most handy tools arround :good:
i got problem with decompiling systemui.apk with tickle my android

when i tried to decompile android.policy.jar , it works. but not with systemui.apk
