[Observation] Dock - Sleep - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I got a dock about 3 days ago (Awesome, by the way. Recommend it!). I'm unlocked and rooted. I've been on two Roms the last couple of days. Virtuous Prime v.21 and the latest AOKP iteration. On both Roms, I've experienced my tablet NOT sleeping when I've folded (closed) the tablet onto my dock and charged it overnight. Here's what I think happens: I believe it sleeps as it should when i initially plug it in and close it, but when i unplug the charger in the morning, the screen comes on and stays on. It never shuts off and sleeps.
Today I went to play on my tablet. The unit was hot and my dock battery was completely drained and tablet battery at 40%.
I'm wondering if any of you are also experiencing this? Also, curious if this is happening on stock? Very weird. Is it a .21 thing or Rom thing or kernel thing? Don't know yet.

read the dev forum posts and comment directly to the one to see if you can get help. i read just the other day that dock/sleep mode has not been configured yet, but it may have changed. i would suggest:
downloading the latest rom (make sure it actually says dock/sleep support)
backup current setup
wipe system/cache/data
install new rom

Thanks. Yes, both Roms I tried purportedly support dock/sleep. Yes, I always perform complete system/cache/dalvik/data wipes. And, yes, I've posted this problem in each Dev thread (no feedback yet).
Dock/sleep does indeed work (both Roms). The problem seems to occur after unplugging my Prime from charging while it's in dock/sleep. It 'wakes' up, turning the screen on, and leaves it on until I open it back up and close it.

AOKP 4.0.4 Build 32!!! Overheating issues??

Yesterday i flashed the aokp build 32 on my i777 and did a full wipe, i also cleaned cache and dalvik. While my apps were syncing from the play store i plugged in the charger and fell asleep, the next morning when i woke up i found out that my device was switched off and it overheated, like it was literally boiling!!! I quickly unplugged it and pulled out the battery, then i put the battery back in and restarted it. Is it cause of the ROM or anything else? It did boot up and is working okay. but i know this is might sound stupid but did the overheating cause any damage to my device? Like any slight internal damage?

Not the roms fault.
As far as damage, no way to tell for sure. If it works it works. The phone has the protection system, that's why it cut off so I'm sure you're probably ok.

If your phone was boiling then you must have left it under blankets or some crap as stated can't be the roms fault and charging it and syncing apps is not gonna make your phone boil.
Mine has done that from time to time. Nothing specific has set it off. It's always been out in the open so no enclosed spaces to blame it on. A reboot has always fixed it.
Sometimes we gotta make sure to plug the phone to right charger when we go to bed!
I had this happen once, for a different reason. I fell asleep with it plugged in and a game running, and sometime in the night it got pushed under my pillow. When I woke up several hours later, the phone was too hot to hold in my hand. I managed to get the battery out, and I let the phone cool off. I put the battery back in and found that the heat had completely drained the battery, so I had to let it charge for a bit before turning it on. When it finally booted up, it was fine. No stability issues, no negative impact on battery life.
I'd say you're probably fine, but the problem you're most likely to have is decreased battery performance. You may have to get a new battery if it's too bad.
well i had never put it under my pillow, it was on my table when i woke up, and yes i am using the right charger and when i booted it up it did have full battery and i used it the entire day, the battery life was still quite the same as it was before. im just trying to find out the reason for overheating

likely something got stuck running in the background that was keeping the CPU at max speed.
I was running checkrom and similar happened. It turns out something made Facebook not stop when I exited it and throughout the day it would get so hot I could feel it through my case.
After that issue I flashed aokp and uv'ed 50 and phone is nice and cool.

I haven't had any problems.
Working great for me! Only issue I have had with this Tom is that Facebook messenger apparently will not run in the background so I don't get notifications when people message me until I open the app.
Finishing a flash while charging then immediately resyncing your play store account gets the device very hot.
No problems here.

No overheating issue here.
Messenger started working fine after reboot. All good now.
I had the same issue...
I had a very similar issue. I am on Build 32 (upgraded earlier in the week from 2 or 3 versions ago). I was working and had my phone in a holster, got a call on both my cell phone and office phone, answered it on my office phone. About an hour later I was doing something, so I pulled my phone out of it's holster and it was sitting on the incoming call screen (from my previous call). It was completely locked up and pretty hot.
I pulled the battery and powered off. When I did finally get it back up, the battery was reading 5%. So what ever was happening, it was using a lot of power and probably would have stopped in about 10 minutes when the battery was completely dead.
This is not a positioning issue, or anything else like that. I have had this phone in the same holster since I got it. And the fact that it was stuck on an incoming call screen from an hour previous means that something was wrong.
I am planning on updating to the new build soon, but I just wanted to mention that this did happen to someone else and it was not "got too hot under a blanket" or something like that.
I doubt that I can provide any useful information to actually help track down the issue. I do not have better battery stats or anything like that installed. And the ICS battery screen just shows a complete drop from 60% to almost 0.
Thanks.
no heat
I'm on build 32 for a few days now and I've not had any heat issues. I do use ES Task killer before I park.

I have tried using AOKP builds right from the first one. Every one of them had this exact issue happened to me. The phone will simply overheat and the battery will be completely drained in a matter of few hours. I always do full wipe before trying this ROM. Never had this issue with other ROMs. I love the interface and features offered by AOKP builds, however, frustrated with what it has done to my phone...

[Q] prime is not charging?

I have not been able to use my Transformer Prime for a few months now (I'm in the military) and obviously the battery died. The problem is, I cant get it to turn on at all now. The power cable connectors look fine, and it always worked before this. Does anyone have any advice? My Prime is rooted and running Virtuous Rom.
I would assume something wrong with the power supply or port inside the device. I have a prime that I am parting out if you need any parts. The only thing that is unusable is the system board on mine (due to a bad flash).
Best of luck figuring it out!
Well neither the tablet nor the dock are charging. Would that indicate a bad power cord more than anything else?

Normally I think it has to get up to I think a 5% charge before it will turn on but not sure if this is what you are describing or if you have let it stay plugged in for some time and it is not charging. That would seem like a hardware issue then.

Yes, I would think so! It's a known issue. If the dock charged and not the tablet that would be anothet thing. Do you get a light in either when plugged?

Yes, I was going to ask if you saw the little red/green glow coming from teh tablet On button (VERY small hole, easier to see in dark) or the mor obvious LED next to the charging port on the dock.
I checked and nope there's no light on the tablet or keyboard. Ill swing by best buy tonight and get a new cord. Thanks for the help!

Phone turned off by itself

I plugged my phone in the car charger earlier and noted I had 49% battery left. I drove an hour and when I took the phone off the charger it was turned off. I'm not rooted or anything. This is my first Android phone. Would Android be considered less stable than ios?(which is what I've used for years)

That same problems happens to me when i unplug it or even just wake it up from sleep. It doesnt do it too often like it did when i first got it but im sure it will be fixed with a software update. All you gotta do is restart the phone hold down the power and down button ( on the volume rocker)
Just happened again. Plugged in car charger and it powered down. WTF is this?

I think the problem may be with the app HD Widgets. I installed it last night and the problem started today. According to one review I read, it was causing some guy to have random reboots. The developer responded that it is a bug in Android OS, BUT they released a fix in today's update anyway. Hopefully it is fixed now.

I've had it happen twice to me. I got the feeling it was a software conflict type issue.

I think it is hd widget too. I had that on my nexus 7 and it randomly shut off. I deleted it and it hasn't happened again.

I won't pretend to know what the actual problem is but I'm assuming it's software related, but this thing does strange things when connected to a car charger.
Same thing happened to me twice while it was sitting in my pocket.
Pulled it out and it was off. It would not turn back on unless I held the down volume button and power button. My phone is completely stock and I do not have HD widgets.
Twice for me. I'm rooted and unlocked.

I'm on The Base .7.1 and i've had my phone reboot on it's own a few times (on .5 and .7 it did this as well). it doesn't seem to matter what I'm doing...i can be taking a phone call or answering a text, it can be sitting in my pocket or playing chess.
the only thing that is constant is that AFTER the reboot, some application or other has updated itself via Google Play. perhaps there is some conflict occurring when application updates are presented to the Google Play app? could just be coincidence, but it has self-rebooted many times now and every time it comes back up there is a newly applied update to some installed application.
Had a Samsung Captivate that did that, called "sleep death" and was frequent. ATT swapped it out saying there was a bad batch and it never happened again.
My LGOG did it once the other night; well it did a full reboot by itself. If it becomes an issue I'll take it up w/ ATT again.
Had it happen twice in the past 2 days just in my pocket. Starting to get a bit frustrated with this phone.
Had this happen to me at least twice. Funny thing is the phone died in the same general geographic area each time.
Both times I had over 65 or 75% battery left and I was driving a few hundred miles across areas with bad cell reception. on the way back from my trip I actually chanced to look at the phone because I half expected it to be off due to having experienced the unintended power down before. Phone was NOT plugged into a charger. In the past, driving through these areas would put certain phones into power saving mode where cell function shuts down or phone. I think it's related to driving without reception or just no reception.
Normally I can leave this phone sitting and it stays on and wakes up without a fight.
Called AT&T, they are trying to run me through the whole hard reset/phone swap process.
Wanting something a bit stronger, I got LG's number. They said I was the first person to report the issue.
Both companies suggested turning the device off and charging to 100%, although they were both general suggestions (still, I hadn't tried that). The LG tech actually suggested that I take the battery out and... Well I didn't let that go any further.
LG said I could send my device to them instead of AT&T, if I wanted. They don't presend phones so you'll be SOL for "5-7 days" but I feel better that they would actually look at it instead of just throwing it in a "refurb" pile when the screen turns on.
Anyway, call them! Press 1 for English, 1 for Mobiles, I got an answer in 3 seconds. At least help put this on their radar. 800-793-8896.

USB CB Wake Lock

I keep finding this going on. A few times now I've noticed my phone discharging fast. I check with Better Battery Stats and find that that I've had "USB CB Wake Lock" going on for hours. I'm not sure but I think it starts while being charged during the night. A reboot shuts it off.
I'm not sure how to catch a log cat of this. Could I start the log when I notice it or would it need to be on when it starts? Or maybe someone out there already knows what's going on with it?
I googled it and found someone who said they needed to replace their USB port. I kinda wonder if I might have an issue with mine. I use it on my car dock almost every time I drive. The cable on my dock is fairly hard to plug in. It doesn't just line up correctly and I have to jiggle it around a little to plug it in. The reason I got this dock is because I can mount my big phone with an Otterbox case on it.
The thing is the wake lock seems to start up while it's on the stock phone charger rather than the car dock.
Maybe it's software related. I use Tweaked VZW Remix I had the PB&J Kernel til yesterday afternoon when I switched back to stock. But this morning I found the wake lock with the stock kernel.
I'd just start up a logcat but if I have to leave it on overnight it'll wind up being huge. I don't know what to do here. Anybody got any ideas?

Saw your post on tweaked thread... Been a while, but I think couple of things to try are... turn phone on before unplugging, try cleaning usb port with toothbrush and/or compressed air (pull battery before doing this). Last resort, replace usb... think it is only around $20? There are videos on how to do this. Not that hard if you're technically inclined at all.
Ok I tried cleaning out the USB port. We'll see. I do have a problem with metal shavings at work and once in a while I find that I've left the USB flap on my Otterbox open. I guess I need to be more careful. I hope that takes care of it. It seems to me like if it was a hardware thing rebooting wouldn't necessarily fix it. But I guess it could.

Well so far so good. Thanks man.
Here's what I have this morning. I found some info that said this happens while charging. That's about how long it was on the charger last night. I guess as long as it's charging while this wakelock is activated it's ok. The reason I've been concerned is I found this reading 1 day & 19 hours once. Maybe it's not a big deal. I'm gonna keep an eye on it. My phone doesn't seem to be discharging fast today.
Sent from my SCH-I605 with Tweaked VZW Remix using Tapatalk 4
Ok it's pretty obvious this wakelock is what it does while charging. This morning it added 7 hours to the 7 from yesterday and it shows 14 now. I guess the time it showed all those hours it hadn't been rebooted for a week. There must be another reason for the occasional fast discharge. I guess I need to keep watching this. It's probably about bad signals. It's a good thing we have Better Battery Stats. It's definitely worthwhile.

Battery 0% won't boot after charge ???

This is the 3rd time this has happened to me. If the tablet shuts itself off because of battery is 0% then it will get stuck @ Samsung screen on boot (after charging). I had to factory reset it the first time, the 2nd time got away with clearing the cache. This time looks like its another factory reset. Anyone else having/had this issue? This is a stock device with no mods at all. Any help would be appreciated.
Any reason you are running it down to 0% or is that part of the problem?

As a general rule, Lithium Ion batteries dont like to be completely discharged. I would.put it on the charger and just leave it there for a bit and it should be ok.
That aside, you can adjust some settings so that it doesn't run dead. Set your Wi-Fi not to stay connected when its off. Another very useful app is Greenify. I took it one step further and installed the app called Automate. Then I created a flow that turns off wifi and BY, and then triggers Greenify's hibernate mode, and then it turns the screen off. I put a shortcut to this flow on my home screen so I can trigger it when I'm not going to use the tablet for a while. Usually my tablet will loose 5% max over 24 hours of non-use.

I agree but at this point I am just trying to get my device to boot with out factory reset.
AQF5 build came out today for Korea, trying that now. The way they are increasing the build numbers, hopefully they are actually fixing something. Interestingly this had a modem file too though the SM-T820 is wifi only.
http://updato.com/firmware-archive-s...3AFA163EE8F90B
No dice still with AQF5 KOO firmware today, I officially give up. Likely a hw issue , only reason they have not addressed it across 6 firmware updates. Too bad since the tablet is very decent otherwise. Unlikely this will ever get fixed at this point since this is not a Note 7 type headline grabber. Time to find an used S2 to replace the one I sold or wait on something else.My S3 is going back tomorrow.
Yeah I had to factor reset it again to get it to boot. Its a nice device other than that.
