I pieced together a way to get notifications to be shown in succession. This is an initial version and it seems pretty stable as I have used it throughout the day.
The way it works is by cycling through the current notifications that in the system and flashing the trackball according to how each notification specifies their behavior.
If you see some odd behavior with Handcent it is expected as the default flashing rate has a light off period of 0, so you can change it to custom with a light off rate of 2000 to match that of GMail notifications. (as I have)
Special thanks to ChainsDD for some help today with general Android knowledge and I hope you all enjoy this. Please leave some comments and I will do my best to fix bugs and make improvements (Computer Science student at UCSD)
Root is required...
** Please read **
This enhancement should work on CM-5.0.5 as I have built the jar against his source. I don't guarantee it will work for the others.
Also, I cannot guarantee support for Desire roms. I know nothing about how the Desire is supposed to handle notifications. If HTC didn't try to do something fancy (read: stupid) with the notification code, then this will work as advertised. I have no plans to use or test this on a Desire ROM myself.
Like any other development project on this forum I will not be held responsible if this breaks your phone in any way. It only updates the services.jar from /system/framework so you should at worst only see boot loops.
If you are having issues:
- Please drop me a log in pastebin.
Changelog:
v0.5:
- Updated to use the new breathing light code. (Sorry for the long wait)
v0.4:
- Fixed to use the eclair branch code instead of donut
- Options for flashing while screen on, at all work now (eclair options)
- Fixed the sleeping issue. Should now work with the screen off.
v0.3:
- Hopefully a fix for the issue of the notifications not staying awake.
- More debugging output so people can get me some logs.
v0.2:
- Fix for multiple notifications of the same color.
v0.1:
- Initial version with succession
Donation:
Please donate if you like my work. It helps keep me motivated and working hard on Android.
Downloads:
- Attached at the bottom.
- servicesv05.zip provided by me.
- others provided by RixKliq (post #225 but attached here)
How to install:
1) Nandroid
2) Rename download from servicesv05.zip to services.jar
3) Connect phone to computer.
4) adb remount
5) adb push services.jar /system/framework
6) adb reboot
Glad you made it! Get cyanogen to put it into his mod .

Do you think this will rock out with the Desire Rom... I am about to push it over but I just need to understand the differences between this and chain.. I gather no color distribution in notifications.. I have seen that Chain Version did not prosper on this Rom.. I keep forgetting this is from something that comes out in two months.. Lol..
Thanks..
Appears to work pretty well... any chance of speeding up the flashing? So far is working well with 3 notifications. Waiting for twitter to update and see how 3 looks. though I think it will take too long to see more then two as it flashes slowly.
question
so i pushed it to the system and i see nothing and how can i change it from 0 to 2000 ?
nice work mate- you should speak to lilH3rmit. he has an alpha version of Trackballcolornotify2 that allows different colours to be shown for different apps (stock and non-stock)... his has an altered framework.jar....
if you 2 got together the end result would an all in one app
cool work, but can you post a version with white text?
works 'thanks'

do you want white everything? or just the stuff in the statusbar? i can change colour of clear button and provider as well.
***edit*** here is one with white status bar stuff. just change the .zip to .jar as above- untested BTW but mine worked, and it was only slightly different. shouldnt affect the hacks done here...
Can anyone post screens?

just a word- am using this with Trackballcolornotify2 and it works awesomely!!!! thanks so much for this one.

it's in alpha testing phase at the moment. Watch this space i reckon for something that could be awesome. He wants to make it so it will support EVERY single app so you can choose ANY colour you want for the trackball.
Ok thanx, that would definitely be great in combination with successive notifications !
Loving my N1 more and more thanx to you guys, keep up the good work =)
Did someone test i on Desire?
thanks! trying....

someone tried it on MCR 1.7?
if not i will do it this afternoon
how hard is this on the battery - do you have to wake up the CPU every time you change the color?
Anyone had any luck with this theme on the Legend with CM7?
[THEME] MattedBlues - CM7 Final/6/SalvageMod & Sense
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768848
It looks awesome...
did you try it? Do a nandroid backup download and try it - then tell us how it went..
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA Premium App
It looks very goooood. I want it on my Legend!!!!
But i use Blayo´s Rom and dont want to change to cyanogen...
I flashed the Mattedblues theme made for the EVO (I think, found it in this thread) on my HTC Legend last night, and it basically almost works.
It looks amazing, and as far as I'm able to tell, there are no visual problems with the skin itself.
Thing is, if I try to turn off WiFi, I'm thrown back to the boot animation. It then boots up normally, with the WiFi still on.
I don't know if this is caused by settings on my phone, or by the skin being incompatible with the Legend. I tried to flash the version of the theme made for the G2 just now, but the same problem occurred.
Thanks Eirki, I posted your feedback here in case someone can advise:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13111708#post13111708
Good idea, thanks. I would love to have this work for the Legend, it's by far the most polished CM7 theme I've seen.
Just tried installing for cm7.
Besides the wifi, I also found the keybord having grafic error ect. Gallery also broken.
awesome skin, if it worked proparly.
Hope here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044880
I now have MattedBlues working on my Legend. I used the method this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841720 (Method 1). It was actually fairly straightforward.
Using that method, I merged the theme-files from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=959065 with the files from the offical CM7.0.3 zip file. Just make sure you download the theme which is compatible with current version of CM.

Do you mean sharing the modified theme-files, or sharing a screenshot? As I have said in this thread, I don't feel comfortable with anyone distributing other versions of the theme without the creator's explicit permission.
But it really isn't difficult merging the files yourself. You should try it. =)

Maybe you can post a description of your achievement in the official theme thread, along with asking the creator for permission to post the theme for others? I personally think the creator will be happy his/her theme has reached another device??!!
It's all about sharing. Otherwise places like XDA wouldn't really be what it is today..

I really didn't do anything in particular with phone.apk. Is the theme-porter method not working for you? If it's a problem with the dialer, I might not notice, as I'm using Go Dialer.
@C_Man: Good point. I posted a question here. I fairy new to both Android OS and XDA, and I don't much of the etiquette yet. Figured I'd tread carefully.

Yeah i guess you also converted with hdpi to mdpi with theme-porter. If you do that everything works except the dialer.
The creator - jabbawalkee - said that, as long as I give proper credit, I'm free to distribute it.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1699092/MattedBlues_for_HTC_Legend_CM7.0.3.rar
Here are the files that I've used. Apart from the dialer, some notification icons and the font being a little small, it's working like a charm.
If someone has an easier way of sharing files, that won't eat my monthly dropbox bandwith, please let me know =)
Also, I see people talking about a "thank you" button, but I can't seem to find it. Any hints?
I wrote a short howto and put it in the rar, but I recommend you check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841720 anyway. Good luck with the theme, remember to do a nandroid backup before you try anything.
The 'Thanks' button is near the Quote/MultiQuote/QuickReply buttons on the bottom right of each post. I can see 3 people have thanked you for your above post and file share
You mention: "some notification icons and the font being a little small," ...are you able to notify us:
- which notification icons?
- where is the font small?
This will allow us to report any other wierd behaviour.
1] Is this for 7.0.3 and above only or 7.x ?
2] Do we need S-OFF?
3] Do we need [MOD] full r/w access via overlay filesystem (any ROM) for this to work?
Thanks once again!
Notification icons:
The roaming icon (looks like the regular signal strength icon, only with an R on it) does not appear to be themed. Instead it's the standard green.
Also, for some reason, when wifi is turned off, the signal strength icon is gray not blue.
I don't use 3G or edge, so I don't know how those icons look.
The battery percentages icon is very difficult to read. This is easily bypassed by checking "Battery Percentage" in CM settings -> Interface -> Status bar tweaks. It's a shame though, the special made percentage icon is a lot fancier.
Font size:
This is most noticeable in the Launcher Pro Plus widgets, especially the Friends widget and the Pulse news reader app. It's definitely readable, but still a minor nuisance.
If this is a deal breaker to you, there's always the option of not installing the font or installing a different one. (If anyone knows a font that looks good on the Legend, let me know.)
1: CM-version: I have only tested these specific files on CM7.0.3. I made them by combining the MattedBlues files for 7.0.3 with files from the CM7.0.3 zip file. For all I know, they may work on other versions as well. If not, the MB files for other versions can easily be converted to Legend-compatibility.
2: Mine is S-ON, so I wouldn't think you need S-OFF (I don't really know what S-OFF entails, I'm somewhat of a newbie.)
3: Now, I have no idea what that is. I sure never did that with my phone. Looks like a way to write files to /system without booting into recovery. I just boot into recovery =)
Thanks for the above!
I look forward to trying it out!

Don't worry, this isn't a theme-related issue.
In 'pure Android', when you are online AND have the ability to connect to Google servers, the bars are green. When you don't have access to Google servers, the bars go grey. So the behaviour you see is normal [just replacing blue for green of course].
Question regarding the Apps folder in the *.rar file in post #16 above...
Can we simply delete the APK and ODEX files for the applications we don't want to install with the ROM or is completely the wrong and unstable way of doing it?
Hi,
I did a little experiment with the V4 lockscreen and modified it a bit.
Like changing the clock and modifying the messages (miss call, new message notifications etc.
Thought i would share it with you people. So here i have uploaded it for you people.
Do let me know if you like it and if you want any changes in color/notification messages stuff like that...
I have attached a few screen shots and the lock screen file.
Thanks...

Good work !!!
Nice work!
Hello, everyone!
I´m new here, but using the forum quite a while. Since a few days i´m the prowd owner of a Razr Maxx.
First of all, the device is amazing, i need a phone for the work and not to play and >5" Display. A phone with a good battery-life and thats exactly what you get here.
So i´m using the spyder version but i´m in the EU so i need the GSM-Patch. First of all i´m using CM 11/M12. It´s very good and stable. I´m also using the One+ Launcher, which i like because i´m using as 2nd phone an iPhone.
But a few things i´m missing and maybe you can help me out with this things.
1.) Alternative to CM11:
CM 11 is good, but i also tried LiquidSmooth Rom 3.2. But after installing the GSM-Patch, the Rom was not stable. With CM11 no Problem with the GSM Patch. I also tried the 3.1 Version of LS but also no luck. I also tried DirtyUnicorn, which looked good and with a lot of features and included GSM support, but was also not stable. Same with Paranoid. Do you have a alternative Rom with GSM Support or Patch support for the XT912 Verizon Maxx that you can reccomend me?
2.) Statusbar:
In the statusbar is to much going on for me. After some time i get so much symbols for every update etc. also the one+ laucher is every time with his icon in the statusbar. Is there a statusbar where i can hide all this things and only can see important icons like calls/messages?
But i also missing something in the statusbar, the provider name. On an old phone i have the provider name in the middle of the statusbar, but now i find no option to enable it. Is this still possible? I used the phono-app which shows the logo, but thats not exactly what i want. But better than nothing.
3.) Lockscreen
I want a simple Lockscreen and i like the iPhone Lockscreen a lot, besides the missing widgets. Can you recommend a lockscreen like the iphone lockscreen with widget support?
4.)Dialer
Three things i dont like in the actual dialer. First when i open the dialer app, the first screen is favorite contacts, but i want as first screen the numpad.
Second, i also like the gui from the iphone, you have contacts only one click away from the numpad, now you have to know the name and type it on the numpad or open the contacts. Is there a better solution?
And at last, the dialed numbers are not in the "memory", when i put in the first digits from a called number in the history nothing happens. On my old phone (HTC) , it gives you matching called numbers when you click the first digits on the numpad. Is that possible?
So thats a big list, first i hope you understand it and second i hope you can help me with it
Thanks a lot!

1) I am xt910 user so I cant help you in this case. Maybe @sherri or @Ohmster could give you a clue?
2) in LS 3.2 10/13 go to Settings->LiquidSmooth->Status Bar->Advanced. Here you can enable 1) "notification count" to prevent long lined-up of similar notification, 2) MIUI provider label (to show provider name on the most left of status bar)
3) the built-in lock screen is enough for me anyways. If you want iphone-looks-like so bad maybe you should try using Launcher that provide iphone theme for lockscreen (just find it at playstore i.e Go Launcher)
4) We are on the same boat here. Keep me posted if you luckily found it first

I bring to you another installment from my full oZoP project.
This one is usually kept for exclusive use control by my oZoP ConTroL app, but with the many requests and lingering release of the full oZoP I felt i could try and pump some juice back into this great device by showing the power and capabilities of this beast!!
Code:
native call recording with toggle
choose half-screen or full-screen caller id
custom background
choose image from gallery
any color solid
any color 2 stage gradient colors
call details text any color
incall button text text any color
incall dialpad numbers any color
incall dialpad letters any color
access to hidden service menus and settings
Screenshots
Screen Recording
instructions:
1. make a full backup if your current rom just to be safe
2. download the file
3. flash in TWRP
4. reboot and open the new oZoP Mods InCallUI app in your app drawer
5. show everyone and brag to them how you can do this and they can't!! HaHaHa
Deodexed rom is needed.
All other files are included.
NOTE: THIS IS ONLY TESTED AND INTENDED FOR THE LG V20! For now at least. Once I get feedback from others that could change.
I WOULD NOT SUGGEST TRYING IT unless you are at the very least LG and I suspect the only viable applicants would be the G5 and v10 running Android 7.
No G6 and no other devices should even attempt to flash unless you know how to recover yourself.
(some features may not work properly because they are dependent on root and busybox installed)
I am not responsible for your mistakes or errors!!
Report bug properly to get my support
Of course there are many way to properly report bugs and ALL of these ways have one thing in common, THEY ALL REQUIRE VERY DETAILED NOTES of the issue!
I'm not going to go deep into how detailed you could get because lets face it, most people that report improperly are the ones who don't read and probably are going to read this! HaHaHa...
To get support from me I only ask for some simple things
1. What device, and rom you are running
2. What is the issue (no boot, fc everywhere, fc only certain app etc...)
3. Which option did you select
4. Did you get the install log
5. Did you use the restore.zip option to get back running
6. Do other choices share the same effect
That looks like a lot, but it really is the minimum amount of info need to troubleshoot!
Provide me that and I'll do my best to fix things and make this fun for everyone.
If you post things like
"Doesn't work", "bootloop" or anyone other similar post that have no value and help development is no way, actually these kinds of post only put development behind and slow progress die the fact that anyone who cam help has to waste their time reading it!
If these kind of post ever come up, its best to ignore the lazy person and not clog the thread with flaming replies as that too slows development!
Anyway, I don't expect there to be many if any bugs! Been tested by myself and confirmed with users of this device!

2) Do i need the signature disabled ( patched services) mod from urs to be installed ?

NO, this is not a patch method zip!
This will completely replace your existing InCallUI with ths custom one.
The only way to revert back would be manually copy the files from you system before flashing,
pull the files from the rom zip of which your are running
or restore thhe Nandroid i suggest as step 1 of the instructions.
I have tested this many time and have had some test result feedback confirming the flash went fine.
I don't see any reason to go back to stock, unless of course you like the hideous stock look with the tiny color ID and stick figure drawing for unknow callers! Hahaha.
Just flash it, you'll be pleased with what you cam do! Just check the screenies and video.
As far as Google dialer goes, I've not used it and am not familiar with it or what ot does to yoir system.
Does it effect both the main and incall dialers or just the main dialer you call out with?
Left is main dialer amd right is incall dialer.

And what am I missing ? I have a back up. I flashed your zip . The app is on my phone and I've set it up like I want . Should the native phone app even be on my phone after flashing the zip? Or do I just open the native dialer app? When I open it it hasn't changed. Do i need to uninstall any applied themes ? Or anything else?
Thanks again for your help! And for this mod!

Same here, flashed granted root and configured to my liking but dialer hasn't changed.
Edit : seems to work only when placing a call

That's no fun lol
So only the in call is being changed atm and not the dialer.
Just flashed it on WETA 5.0.7 which is the newest one as of right meow. Phone booted up properly and nothing seems wrong. Call UI shows up properly.
Only thing I had an issue with was the phone stopped charging even though it was plugged in and the fast charging notification was even showing up but my battery icon was actually going down. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and got the charger sound but the battery icon was still discharging. I navigated to the battery menu under Android settings>General and after it loaded that menu it went from discharging to charging. Kinda weird.
Just thought I would share for anyone else who experiences this.
Haven't experimented to much with this just yet and I realize its just the 1st version but I'm gonna be honest, I'm not a big fan of the icons. It would be great if I could have the stock icons for the buttons and numbers.
The full screen caller ID is fantastic ? great work on that. However I'm finding it very difficult to read based on the caller ID picture since you can only set one color for the text and buttons, it can be very hard to read or see the buttons. Maybe some font ehancements would help fix or alleviate the issue. Something like borders or drop shadows or something better that I'm not aware of?? The half screen option could actually benefit from this as well for the name and number field as it still can blend in depending on picture.
***I just realized that to activate the half screen caller ID option you just have to leave the full screen option unchecked lol. I thought it wasn't included yet or something and noticed that after reading about the half screen option in the OP :silly:? ***
One little note on the half screen option is the "Hold call" icon overlaps with the call timer.
Just trying to to give some feedback on it and thanks again for porting it out from your mod so we can try it early ? Kudos!

Note: working very good on my T-Mobile v20
@stangdriver44
Works great in H990DS Indian Variant. With Latest April security patch. But i have one small request. If u see the cropping of the contact photo reducing the quality. Is there any chance to make the cropping like this ? While choosing photos for contact ?

I am asking about that Potrait crop. This mod made by me for Sony Xperia Z2/Z3 and other sony devices ages ago. Now i stopped all things due to family.. Any hope.. ?

Thank for the feedback, I added to the OP confirmed devices. I may start thread in the G5 sections as well. But need to know if it worrk for other G5 roms or just Fulmics.
Are the stock basedrom like fulmics somewhat compatible or is Fulmics based off different FW?

Hahaha!!! Come on guys... I thought the title of the thread "InCallUI" would be enough to understand that it is the dialer UI for when you're "In a Call"
if that wasn't enough I did list the features, one of which state "native call recording". I've only seen the call recording option available once you're "In a Call"
I guess Android is a little confusing to understand that they even have 2 separate dialers (which I did describe above including screenshots). In fact our android system has nearly 10 apk's, several framework jar files and other support xml files. So it is confusing.... I guess...
Anyways, This mod is usually exclusive to my full oZoP project and it will be included in the project along with the main dialer and many many other mods!!

I have not had or had report of the charging issue you report. This mod really should have any effect on that or any app associated with that portion of the phones activities?
As you a;ready noticed, this is v1 and it will be improved on.
That being said, the stock icons created problems being a single solid flat color and visibility in many screens. These one may not be the best style for everyone, but they are more visible in more situations and that is better for more people.
I also am working on getting color controls for the icons (as shown with the Button color WIP option, it works, but only for the redial call icon that shows when the call ends.
If I can't figure the coloring option I will either restore the stock icons or have a flashable zip to replace them actually, I've attached a zip to put stock back(I do not use these and can not support any color issues you may get as a result)

I'm not sure what issue you're talking about here?
As far as this mod goes, there are no major issues, some very minor theme style preferences maybe, but no issues here.
The link takes me to my XDA signature image, you want to know something about that?
In the future if you want better support, I suggest giving as much detail, including screenshots detailed noted for what you did, what you had going prior and the results after the flash. Logs from logcat as good, but don't always help (especially for user error, haha)
I also suggest reading the OP and viewing any previews that may be included. I actually updated the OP preview section with notes of what is in the screenshot.

That is a great looking feature, but at this time the control app is set as is. There is a lot that goes into these things and I am not at a time in which I can spend working on this kind of thing.
Not to say it won't eventually happen, maybe down the road after oZoP has been officially released and several updates have gone by, maybe.
I do thank you for the suggestion and am always open to, not promising, to any suggestions or request you all have!!
Thank you all
