Thinking about getting this - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

How would you guys describe the screen and the battery life
Also is cm9 or miui in the works?
How is the headphone jacks, on my vivid it constantly disconnects with almost every movement
Thanks

Also how is the speed of the phone to say the iPhone, is it instant or does it have that normal 5 second android lag
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using XDA

Every single question you just asked is readily available in the forums via a few second search. CM9 is reported as coming. There is a forum for that too... You need to learn to search.
I'd advise you to go with the Note. So far, the best phone I've owned. On a typical day I get around 5h 20min screen on time and about 21-22h unplugged time. Totally stock, quadrant of 3400-3850 and smooth as butter. I will leave stock and start ROMing when The Collective finishes their ICS rom(s) . Phone's gonna get so much better still with the huge dev community that it's attracted and with ICS available.
I've been in love with this phone's screen. No worries there, it looks stellar. S-pen is crazy useful as well. I didn't see myself using it, honestly, before I got the Note- that has changed as I use it daily, multiple times. Great feature.
Highly recommended.

Sorry and thanks
Yeah I was looking to make a switch from the vivid, was looking at the gs2, the note and even the iPhone
Anyway any issues with the headphone jack?
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using XDA

I'm a workout-a-holic. Use headphone jack and blue tooth headphones several times per day. Never had a single hiccup with either. Flawless so far.
Oh. And you won't believe how good GPS is on this sucker. The GLONASS and US GPS connection is stellar. Best gps I've used on an mobile device. That includes when compared to the Galaxy Nexus, iphone4s, Droid Razr, SGS2 (many variants).

personal opinion (dont take it seriously)
i came from GS2 T989 and after using this phone i was VERY disappointed with speeds and lags.
touch screen is slow, less responsive. animations are laggy and NOT smooth.
battery life and camera are great (better than gs2)
thats my personal thought. im waiting for htc one X, ill switch.
(this is my 4th day using I717)

You better check that HTC One X battery life. $100 says your *****ing about it a week after ownership. Teenie battery on the One X and given HTCs reputation, 16gb non expandable storage on the ATT variant, that phone is set up for a disappointing daily use phone.
If that's your 4th day using the note I'd recommend getting a replacement from a different retailer. Go on YouTube. Hundreds of videos of the ATT note. No lag present. You didn't soecify if you were stock, or ROM'd and what ROM.

What exactly is that supposed to mean? As someone coming from another Android device I would expect some more specifics other than to across the board generalize about the OS. When does this lag occur and are you sure it happens on all devices? I haevn't had any experience like that on my N1 or my Infuse and I don't expect it on the Note when I buy it this week.

This guy was trolling the vivid forums spewing the same stuff.

S3 (vs One X): what's your experience so far?

Hello guys. I'm trying to upgrade from a Samsung Galaxy S2 to either a Samsung Galaxy S3 or to the HTC One X.
I love my S2, the only think I do not like that much, besides samsung delaying rom releases a little too much for my taste, is that battery does not lasts a full day with moderate to heavy use, it lasts about 6/8 hours, and that it gets really hot.
Both phones have been out for a while already, so on your most objetive opinion, what are the cons you wish you would have known about the S3, and what is your experience regarding battery life under moderate to heavy use, and hotness of the phone?
Do you see any other advantage of one over the other? Do you whish to have bought the other?
I know there are hundred of reviews, but i'm asking for real experience here.
Thanks.
The HTC One X is obsolete in my opinion for 3 reasons:
1. No Micro-SD card slot
2. Non-removable battery
3. Terrible battery life
For those three reasons I don't think the phone is even worth considering over the Galaxy S3. if it had a removable battery and a Micro-SD card slot I would have gotten it over the S3 though.

Source? The battery life on the One X is absolutely amazing. It has better battery life than the Galaxy S3 by far due to the screen.
Engadget says:
Even with LTE enabled, battery life is noticeably better on AT&T's One X than on the foreign version. This was a sticking point in our original review, so we're extremely pleased with the improvement. We recorded eight hours and 55 minutes in our video loop rundown test with the screen set to 50 percent brightness -- most folks will have little trouble getting a full day's use from the 1,800mAh cell. Call quality was decent, but LTE performance exceeded our expectations with peak speeds of 35.7Mbps down and 23.5Mbps up (!) -- the fastest results we've ever recorded on an LTE device.

And AnandTech goes even further. Stating that One X gets a whopping 9.65 hours on 3G browsing , 5.5 hours on LTE and 10.35 on WiFi.
Finally, our cellular talk time charts put the AT&T One X in the upper half of our results. Overall the AT&T One X appears to do very well across the board, but it's very strong in the 3G/LTE tests.

Edit: By comparison: The Galaxy S3 gets 8.3 hours on 3G (Versus 9.65 on the One X) and a mere 7.6 hours on WiFi, almost 3 HOURS less than the One X USA.

Agreed, from someone who has both.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda premium
I have had 2 of both, the one x has awesome battery life as many others have said. the camera on both of my one x's were way better than my first s3 but the s3 i just traded my one x for now is very good and on level with my one x. Anyone having camera issues (mainly bluring whenever its not super bright) i would say try an exchange if you can, I ran almost every rom on both s3's and that wasn't it 1st s3 was definitely a hardware issue.
One X:
Screen Looks nicer (only slightly)
Better Battery
Build Quality
S3:
More Development
SD card slot
Removable battery
more ram
More accessories (with all the carriers in the us and international versions being the same an android device is finally getting tons of options for cases/ etc)
Google Wallet, yes you have to hack it on but it works and with the new update its actually useful as you can use any cards.
Just my opinions, both are great phones but If you are big into flashing go s3.
I've said this in each of these threads thus far and ill say it again... As far as hardware the only thing the sgsiii has over one x is ram. Other then that the one x is a smidge ahead in everything else. Obviously the soc is the same so that a non issue. However development on the sgsiii is staggering at this point. Crushing the one x in that regard. We were one of the first with OFFICIAL cm10 preview builds and one of the first with OFFICIAL cm10 nightly support, the one x has neither AFAIK. Unofficial builds yes, official nope(correct me if I'm wrong there). Development was the sole reason I jumped ship from the one x to the sgsiii. And I definitely think I made the right move in that regard. Get the sgsiii, you won't be disappointed. Or get the one x, it's a kick ass phone. But I think you may get sgsiii envy. Of course everyone here will favor the sgsiii, and I noticed you made the same thread over in HTC land, there everyone will tell you the one x is better. So... These threads won't help much Imo.

You clearly have no idea what "In my opinion" means.
The majority of people close to me who recently upgraded chose the One X over the S3. Pretty much all of them complain about the battery life constantly. Also, while I was taking a train back home with a friend, we spent the entire ride watching videos on Netflix. His battery was nearly 35% more depleted than mine was. If it matters we watched different shows but for the same amount of time.

I have a hard time believing you have a bunch of friends who bought the One X on contract and then ALL switched to the S3 at full price just because of the battery. Also that comparison with your friend is useless. Were you guys both on 100% when you started watching the video? I highly doubt you made a note of how much his battery was at before you watched the video.
And yes, we do have an idea of what "in my opinion" means. It means you have zero facts, source and are being biased.
The One X has an infinitely superior camera in my opinion. I hate the camera on the galaxy. I'm also a big dropbox user so the ext sd isn't as huge a deal for me either. I'd have stayed One X if they had proper multitasking. It was awful on the HOX. Awful. I can't stress that enough. Awful.

2.2 made improvements in this. I keep coming back to the HOX because even with less RAM on a stock based ROM it feels smoother, especially in the MMS app with ~5000 texts. As a test, I did an SMS Backup and Restore backup, wiped both databases clean and cleared data on the MMS apk, then restored the same backup to both. (I also did a full wipe later as well) and the HOX doesn't stutter on the least while the GS3 does, especially when trying to back out of a conversation with over 200 messages. The only way the GS3 is as good is running an AOSP based ROM. Odd I know, but it is empirical evidence based on my usage.

Why do you like your amaze? Or dislike it?

Just wanted to hear some thoughts from the rest of the community.
I personally love my amaze compared to other phones especially the iPhone cuz whenever an iPhone user sees the amaze, well yeah they are _______ by the screen. Also cuz I love the specs and design. Also really am a fan of the community here.
Sent from my HTC Ruby using xda premium
The amaze is mostly a great phone. I enjoy having it a lot, however there is a lot of things about owning the amaze that drive me crazy.
1.small battery and crappy batt life.
2. accessories are a disappointing, for example
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/313doyLhjzL._SL500_AA300_.jpg
Why is this not a dock ? it's an ugly dongle for the phone. It may be a fully functional piece of hardware but dammit does it have to be so ugly and a pita to work with. Just how much desktop space does htc want us to waste with this contraption. The actual desktop dock does nothing but charge the phone ARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGG.
3. this is not directly related to the phone it self, but development on the amaze seems really difficult. As I am not a dev I don't ***** or wine at the dev's for this or that feature but the custom kernel's all seem to have one or more issues with wifi, bluetooth, gps, data or something else weird , this is not a complaint just an observation.
One the + side it's been the quickest snappiest phone I have ever used, games are nice and smooth for the most part witch is pretty amazing since the phone is over a year old.
anyway that's my take on the amaze. I wish like hell I could afford a Galaxy note.

Pros: I really like the way the phone looks and the phone's specs as well. By today's standards the phone is still pretty good spec-wise even for a phone that has been out since last year october.
Cons: I agree with you on number 1. The battery life isn't as great as it should be but faux's kernels help a lot. As for what you stated in number 3 you can thank HTC for all of those issues. With them not providing full kernel source code it makes it difficult to build kernels with everything working properly.
Battery: +1
Specs: +1 :good: :good:
HTC:
Design, look and feel: :good: :good: :good:
I came from an iPhone 4 which I regretted for 1 year and 11 months of my two year committment. I jumped the ATT/iPhone ship, bought 2 used Amazes in perfect condition off ebay for my wife and myself and have never looked back.
I find HTC's software developers and customer service to be incredibly frustrating. I emailed them urging a release of the kernel source so the development community could continue to work on HTC's mistakes and further increase my battery life (clearly confrontational). In response they told me to turn off GPS, wifi,, bluetooth, syncing and data, uninstall all 3rd party apps and to not use the phone and in return I would get exceptional battery life. Listen up HTC... for that I will never buy another HTC phone..., so when you guys wonder why the company is going broke due to a massive loss of market share, look in a mirror! Your best source of sales should be repeat buyers!
That said, while battery life was frustrating for the first few months I owned it, thanks to the Devs on XDA (I'm currently running SpeedRom 7.5 and Faux Kernel v18) I rarely worry anymore with fairly heavy daily use.
I find the Amaze's screen, it's looks and its feel to be really appealing, so from the design standpoint I give HTC props (but not enough to overcome its customer service)!
I've played with the Evo 4g LTE as well as the SGS3 and loved them. My friend with the Evo says his battery has always been great, never going below 50% in a day, but he's on Sprint in Los Angeles and only has 3g, so we'll see what he says when they turn on LTE! LOL The SGS3 is a really great phone and in a perfect world where I had no money worries I'd probably own one for a while. Thus, I consider both phones to be superior to the Amaze, but not significantly so.
To sum it up, for me the stock Amaze was a horrible battery draining device that was almost useless, but with a good Rom and Kernel, the phone is just below the top tier of todays best phones, even 11 months after coming out.
I like my Amaze because its MY PHONE....and there is nothing that i dont like about my amaze!! This phone is unbrickable and invincible...ive dropped it like 69 million times it aint got no major scratches yet and runs like a champion!!
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda app-developers app
Yea all the kernels thats been made really really really saves battery life like super tremendously. AGREE 100% on the HTC thing deveoz said also.
It is really surprising that the Amaze still has top of the line specs even though its already more than a year old.
I love my Amaze, HTC tends to do a great job with the hardware, unfortunately they lack on the software development. My thoughts go back to the days of my tytn ii, great specs, crappy software support, they refused to implement hardware acceleration for the gpu making it awful for video playback. Even though I prefer HTC hardware my next phone will be the next Samsung G# or a nexus device.

I got the amaze mid summer. It, the galaxy sii, and the blazewere the only phones that had the right features and price at the time.
The blaze felt too much like my iphone 3gs and had a mediocre camera so I passed. The galaxy sii felt too blocky iand plasticy in my hand and had a lower resolution display than the amaze so i went with the amaze. I'm of mixed feelings on the amaze. It takes great pictures, has a camera button, has a good form factor, has micro sd, has a good slcd screen (no pentile please) and has a removable battery. However the rom development is mediocre and it still has middling battery life for me even with the faux kernel and speed rom 7.5.
The battery life is a big deal to me. If the form factor were better I would buy a mungen battery for it but the amaze is already bulky.
I am waiting to see if the next google phone has a micro sd slot or if htc will release an amaze successor that fixes its issues. Otherwise, I'll stay with the amaze for now. 90% there is better than most phones
Sent from my HTC Ruby using xda app-developers app
I have not found anything I "don't" like about it.
Other than the HORRIBLE battery life *new battery will probably fix my issues*
other than that it's just the "useless" NFC due to no GW support =/
For the people with bad battery, try the anker battery. Since I bought mine the phone has been much better.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
The amaze is okay but I'm stuck with this phone to the battery is horrible the only time I get good battery life is if I have 4g off during my work day. HTC sense is garbage. And I hate how HTC made this phone with the capacitive touch screen light bleed into the screen and the only way to get rid of it is if u root. Really HTC -__-? I can't wait to get another phone lol never again HTC I'm going back to Sammy. I wanted to try out htc cuz I heard they were nice I picked up my amaze in Feb and I got the wrong phone unfortunately lol
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
I recently got my Amaze off ebay for a good price into mint condition I'm coming from my Mytouch 4G I just wanted a bigger phone the Mytouch was feeling to small for me.
PROS
I love HTC build quality even from the N1 the polished aluminum and smooth finish is real classy lol. The phone works great and feels awesome.
The screen is pretty good as well much better resolution over my previous phones.
CONS
Battery life is terrible even before I rooted it and thru on a romper.
Camera is good but pics look a little muddy sometimes.
I wish HTC would've officially updated this still great phone with Sense 4.0
I overall love the phone ill stick to this until HTC releases a phone that will keep me satisfied for another year or two.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda app-developers app
Also for the people who think that the battery is terrible, try out using Speedrom 7.5/7.6, it has the best battery life on the phone with this rom. Believe me it really does...
I bought a Galaxy S III and returned it because I prefer the Amaze. HTC sense is really good and I can tether with the phone very easy. All I had to do is change the APN. I think the HTC build quality is great so my next phone will be from them.
i love the amaze because its the only device with a 100% Stable Speed Rom :3
Design Camera Buttons and weight
I love the overall design, the removable battery etc but most certainly my favorite aspect is the camera buttons.
Yeah speed rom and energy rom make this phone awesome

To be honest with you, have yet to find anything about this phone I don't like. The screen is amazing, the snapdragon S4 pro is incredibly fast. Not to mention the fact that the DNA has by far the best battery life for any android phone I have ever had (went from the Aris >> Incredible >> Droid Charge >> rezound >> DNA). I can go to work for 8 hours and come home with >70% of my battery still left with moderate usage. A few friends who also have the phone report the same thing.
IMO you really can not go wrong with this phone.
I have a Galaxy Note 2 and a DNA and I much prefer my DNA as my "daily driver". My only gripe with the phone are kernel the wakelock issues, but that problem is easily addressed by flashing LKs kernel.
I would also add that the phone was a bit too thin for my tastes. Possibly because I have smaller hands. A Diztronic case solved that issue and I think the phone has a perfect feel to it now.
The DNA is nearly perfect, and using ViperROM makes it even better. The only reason that I would give a recommendation to a different device is for expandable memory. If you often find yourself in situations where you don't have 4g or decent WiFi, then you will want your media on your device, and 11GB goes quick.

The standby time for this phone is incredible. I can go on a 7 hour shift with only using about 2% of the battery.
This phone is also sooooo smooth. Waaay faster than my moms, sisters, or brother in laws galaxy III's.
i just lol'd
The reason I ask is because I'm going to be upgrading to either the S3 or DNA from an Incredible 2. The S3 is $100 cheaper, and I stopped and wondered if there was anything the DNA had that made it worth the extra price other than the screen. My Incredible 2 is the only smartphone I've owned so far, and I immediately stopped liking Sense and went the custom ROM route with CM7 and MIUI. I returned to stock once and the phone felt laggy, and the bloatware didn't help. I know its unfair to compare the DNA to an older device with and older version of Sense, but it kind of made me want to step away from HTC. Plus, I'm a bit mad at HTC promising an update but never delivering.
I plan on going stock this time, and based on what you guys are saying its still very nice and smooth? Worth the double price? It is a two year commitment so I'm being cautious.
What are your other choices?
it's still ur choice. but why not just go and try the phone first? hold it touch it feel it.

I'm curious as to where you are seeing this price difference. At Verizon they're both 199 and at amazon they're both 149 for an upgrade.

DNA is the best phone I have owned. Came from EVO 4G lte, great phone but DNA beats it. Running Nova launcher and is crazy fast! Truly love the phone. Played with a buddies SGiii, no comparison, DNA smokes it. My opinion of course.

So basically, are there any other features that makes this phone stand out from others besides the screen ?

Need some opinions on s3 vs note 2

OK. So I have the chance to get the note 2 at the discount upgrade price (currently $199 on amazon) I currently have the s3 and I like it. My friend got a note 2 and I didn't get to play with it much aside from holding it for a minute. So I want to ask the folks who have made the same switch If you would do it again or if its not worth it. Just to get a few things out of the way. I have huge hands so that's not an issue. I also like to flash ROMs and have root, how is the devolpment compared to the s3? Thanks for any responses.

I came from the SGSIII and I can tell you that the NoteII is better in every single way. I love the size and the s-pen. Needless to say I absolutely love this phone. Best phone I've ever had and the best Verizon currently has to offer. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask. I've used both extensively. NoteII on a TW custom rom FTW!

That's what I like to hear. On average what kind of battery life are you getting? Currently I get about 12 hours with about 4hours screen on time. That's with 3g lte and WiFi mixed. Mostly browsing the web or on tapa talk. Thanks again

I came from a gnex, so i probably wont be much help but im gonna post anyways. This phone is amazing! Love the screen size, battery life is incredible i use all day on 4g and i cant kill this thing, customizing this thing is great, touchwiz is fun to fool around with not quite sold on it yet but with all the different launchers out there you cant go wrong. The spen is alot of fun to ive never owened a phone with a stylus before so i like it alot. Overall this phone is a beast i would recommend it to anyone....

I just thought of another question. How is the screen sensitivity? Is it the same as others? Better? Worse?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
I came from the s3 and thought it was the best phone I've ever had. I was wrong, the n2 is hand down amazing. The battery life is almost double the s3. I can easily go two days with medium to light use. I would go with the n2 just for that. You won't be sorry.

I think the screen is a little more sensitive. Also I usually get around 7 to 7.5 hours screen time

Battery life is awesome. Haven't completely drained it yet and I'm a heavy user. Screen sensitivity is perfect. I seriously haven't a complaint yet. The only issue I have is the Verizon branding on the home button. Battery, reception, call quality are fantastic. Actually the visibility in sunlight isn't too great but that is seriously the only thing I can think of.
I got the S3 on release day and then the Note II. I think the Note II blows it out of the water in almost every single way. The only place that the S3 was better at was the audio. The music out of the 3.5 mm headphone jack is not as punchy and seems to have a tighter range in general on the Note 2 compared to the S3, in my opinion. It's a minor disappointment that is by no means a deal breaker though, I listen to music on it all the time and you can tweak the equalizer to compensate somewhat.

I had the Galaxy Nexus for like ten days. I couldn't stand the battery life and the bad reception. Honestly, that phone was a big turn off for me when it came to Samsung. It was one of the reasons why I went back to my iPhone 4S.
Now the Note is a beast. It's perfect in every way except for the branding and the flimsyness of the back cover. I have a Seidio Surface case so I don't even notice the back cover anymore.

I went to the N2 because the radio/reception on the S3 was abysmal. Most people in 4g areas had no problem with it, but there are a huge number of complaints by people like myself that had terrible reception in fringe 4g and even solid 3g areas. I was leary about buying the N2 just because of my previous samsung experience. The S3 was litterally great for everything I did, except using it as a phone. In the end I am glad I bought a N2. This thing is deffenitely far superior to the S3. The size does not matter to me at all, you get used to it fast. The reception is easily twice as good. I can now get 4g at my desk at work where I used to get no signal at all on the S3. I love the stylus and started sketching again simply because of the ability. It truly is the best device I have ever had.

yea, there are a number of things wrong in the comparison.
quad core vs dual care to begin with.
then, it states for camera settings:
Has manual iso Yes vs No This allows to manually set the ISO level.
Has manual white balance Yes vs No This allows to manually set the white balance.
Both these statements are wrong. I own both phones and BOTH allow manual ISO and WB settings

Still have my S3. Awesome phone but doesn't hold a candle to the Note 2. Battery easily lasts a full day with heavy use, probably 2+ days with lighter use. 6-7 hours screen on time is typical. The screen is obviously bigger on the Note, but it's also way brighter. No issues seeing the screen even in full daylight. This phone is a beast.
Also check out flygrip.com. The single most valuable accessory I've bought for this phone. I can comfortably and conveniently touch every corner of the screen with one hand, without having to balance the phone, maneuver around, or even really "hold" the phone for that matter. It just hangs from your finger tips. The flygrip also doubles as a kick stand, which I use all the time in landscape if I'm watching videos and reverse portrait if it's sitting on my desk-firmly propped up and I can use my S Pen with it.

Your thoughts of this phone

So my upgrade is in a couple weeks. So I'm debating between this phone, Samsung galaxy s3, or the Samsung galaxy note 2. What are your opinions on droid dna

Imo, unless you absolutely need to have a battery that can last a whole weekend get the dna. If you do need that kind of battery life then get the note

This phone is kick ass. Battery life is great. If you're in an area where you're not going to be using the internet for a bit then I would suggest turning your data connection off. You will still be able to get texts but you can't browse. The Note II is too damn big and the S3 has a lot of signal issues from what my friends, who have the device, tell me.
Okay thanks for you opinions. I been stuck with the lg revolution since I got it when it came out. Worst mistake on picking a phone ever

Samsung quality and looks are nowhere near HTC. I had Galaxy SIII (and original Note), DNA is so much classier, looks better, feels better, perfoms better, has bigger screen, but doesn't feel bigger at all. Note 2 is a separate issue. It has some nice features over DNA, but still, it's Samsung, it's cheap. Also, like it was already mentioned, Samsung phones are full of bugs, and there radios are not good. Signal is weaker, problems with Wi-Fi..... And did I mention, that damn sleek cheap plastic! You think I formed an opinion about it yet?

...and they sell more....I don't know y people can't leave Samsung alone.....like it or not, they have gone places HTC has not with all the "build quality" and "good radios" Samsung has made android Wat it is today....its just like how fandroids criticise iPhone yet it sells big tym....XDA membership is around 5million....the other 800million guys out there don't give a duck about better radio, build quality......dude if u can afford to wait, then get the SGS4....like it or not it will be better than any thing HTC can make in a billion ways....build quality is nothing compare to unrivaled app support, timely updates(S2 has jelly bean,HTC one x is yet to),removable battery(helps if u wanna sell in the future or jst use it for long),sdcard , powerful CPU performance. And lots of added functionality......I own the DNA, its good but noting compare to the note 2 in many ways....if only size ain't a problem....for the s3 thats another thing since its almost a gen behind now

I'm really enjoying my DNA. I debated between the note 2 and gs3 but I've heard and read about their fragile screens. I can't have a phone that will break if I drop it. People knock the lack of sd and removable battery. But drop box gives you 25 gigs of space for 2 yrs, and as far as battery I can easily get through the day with moderate use and the brightness on max. After rooting and running this sweet Viper Rom the phone is smoother then a baby's butt.
imo.. but for not being 32gb or having the sd card slot, this is the best phone ever made to date. I manage my company's smartphone contract so I get to play with them all.
amazing build quality looks and feel. top of the line hardware specs..battery life is good... REALLY good/ amazing with the dev kernels available. quality custom Roms.. actually that's insulting.. incredible custom Roms available for this phone.
we're about to go s-off... life is good.

the note 2 is a creature onto itself. if you want an oversized plastic monstrosity that can perform... have at it.
DNA crushes the S3.. easily
and seriously.. if the file is THAT important the DNA has plenty of storage space.. if your music or other forms of entertainment are mission critical to access trapped under a building or in the middle of nowhere then you need to review your priorities in life.
as for the USA comment.. last time I checked the DNA was made exclusively from Verizon which last time I checked was a corporate entity doing business in America... so honestly the rest of the world can go suck it.. USA! USA! Lol
I would hold out for about 6 weeks and get the S4
I really fretted the decision of a new phone as my upgrade was from the Htc thunderbolt. I looked at the S3 it seemed ok but had a cheap plastic feel like I could break it by holding it to tight. Plus I dont care for touch wiz. Moto Razor maxx HD screen still has gray tint to every thing not as bright, dull colors as moto always had. And typical moto style. Thought both phones had good and bad as all do, when I looked the DNA at the big red store it was hands down the fastest phone I had ever picked up. screen colors beautiful felt better to hold than S3 or moto seems I forgot I ever had a TB was worried about no SD card but no problems yet and battery life is so much better than TB with extended battery I am truely a happy DNA owner hope you will be to

The big question is what makes this phone any better then the rest? Well for me its really just a couple things. The first thing is I like Sense. Now people say well whats Sense? They are widgets designed by HTC. Some of them include the Weather Clock Widget that shows animated weather on your home screen when the phones unlocked. HTC includes bookmark, people, weather widgets all designed by HTC. Now you maybe thinking well weatherbug has widgets already (for example). Their widgets are crap in comparison IMO. That said I also like the wireless charging (cost 40 bucks for the charger). I like the LCD display looks fantastic. The phone doesn't feel like a cheap plastic kids toy. And that's all I have to say about that.
