greetings.
i have made RBW - a theme for all of the go products.
a person with your tab left me a message saying my newest widget theme version does not work on his/her tab. have no idea what rom, etc. this is new to me, but am wondering if tablets will not be able to use my theme.
my favor - if you use go products (really GO Widgets), can you just see if my theme installs? (i do not own a tablet - though i sure want to!)

My ? is were do i get some decent themes for it ive looked @ the theme section but when i but them on my sd card and load c work mod it hangs for ages is there any tips u great people can give me and any advice what to put on my beast.
android version 2.2
kernel version-2.6.32.9-dj_steve-BFS-BFQ-oc-vol
build number 12821
Can anybody help me with this
I use adw launcher and it has many themes in the market! Hope this helps also zedge has good wallpapers for the streak its a nice app
Me too have not seen any direct ready_to_install themes.
You have to go through the Launchers.
ADW
Go
Pro LauncherYou install either of these and you can download themes for these from the market.
But, I think you need to buy them, to be able to theme and all other stuff (thats bit advanced, like settings, etc.)
Cheers,
Sony.
have a look at the Screenshot thread (in theme and apps section)
and there people have written what they used/have_done to get the "theme".
It needs work to be done. not easy-peasy though.
But, the results are awesome!
What's the best launcher for an Android 2.2 tablet?
And is it possible to get Honeycomb features?
- like the better gmail app
- and the better keyboard.
Many thanks
You could check out this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1046302 or search for one on the market. It's all based on preference. Also, the answer to your question is NO. A launcher CANNOT add features* to your device. It can add the looks of a new OS (not counted as feature here) but it won't add the features you're asking for (like getting a new gmail app. If you want a better keyboard, then why not get one from the market?). In order to get the features you want, you have to change your rom (Whether custom or official) to a Honeycomb rom if there is any available for your device.
Has anyone come across any good themes for MIUI? I am loving this ROM but would love to change it up some.
Miui v4 is a great one, if you like the Miui stock look but want something a little sharper/more modern.
Probably my favorite is the theme "Metro." It's worth checking out.
Where do I get new themes?

This one was awesome when I was on MIUI:
http://blackandroidtheme.blogspot.com/p/miui.html
I'm currently rocking NeonGT. Here's a link to the series, they have a few different colors and they're all very well done. Also, I plan on making a theme of my own pretty soon that you might be interested in when the time comes.
Do a search for MIUI.us on Google. Under development in the forums you will find themes. Also I just found Micentral(click on themedex) has all the good themes with links to original post.
If you open up the "Themes" app, you can click "Resource Detail".
You can view all of themes available. Some may show in Chinese on there, but when you install it it is all in English.
Oh and also:
I prefer mixing and matching parts of themes.
Just go to whatever theme you want (has to be downloaded already).
And un-check whatever you don't want to apply.
I prefer the Black Ice lock screen, so I would go to Black Ice, scroll down, and un-check everything but that.
Hey,
I was wondering if it was possible to install stock ICS on the Galaxy S 3, while keeping new useful Samsung's functionalities (S-Beam, All Share Play, Smart Stay, Direct Call, Smart Alert, Tap to Top, Popup Play, S-Voice, …).
Actually, I would like to feel I'm on ICS on my GS3, and not on a Gingerbread-styled TouchWiz. I know I could install a third party launcher, but it customizes only the launcher, and not the status bar or the Settings for example.
Thanks !
CM-Zoom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1698273 is probably the closest ROM out there atm, its Samsung ROM with a bunch of Cyanogen stuff included.
I dont know of any AOSP-based ROMs that can run the Samsung app suite yet.

Most Samsung features depend on the TW framework. So few things will probably never work on AOSP based roms. However, for a lot of the features you named, there are alternatives. For instance, pop up play isn't a Samsung specific feature. But overall, what you're asking for will not work. Maybe in time, but I wouldn't get your hopes up...
Mmmh...
Unfortunately, I am not so surprised by your answers
And what about theming ? Is it possible to create a theme like this one and install it on the original Samsung ROM ?

Why don't you use that theme?

It's written "The Theme is just for deodexed Rom's and is tested on Omega V3-V5!". Is the stock Samsung ROM deodexed ? Even if I am a developer, I dont know much about Android development
If it turns out to be deodexed, I could adapt his project to my needs (as said before, I don't know too much but it's a good way to learn !)
Oh, and forgot something in my initial post :
What bothers me in TouchWiz is replaced apps like Calendar and Contacts. This cannot be solved by theming. Is it possible to install these separately ?
I know I am a little picky and want the best of the two worlds, but isn't that the strength of Android ?

You can install any replacement app you want. Some of them might rely on a certain framework though (e.g. Cyanogenmod) and might not work. But any replacement app from the Play Store should be fine.

Of course, but what about stock ICS applications I am used to use ? Isn't it possible to "extract" them from original ICS ?
ICS (afaik) requires vendors to include the original framework and theming so that apps don't break on heavily modified phones.
The goo.im stock apps should work, but create a nandroid backup before attempting to flash it through CWM
http://goo.im/gapps
You most likely want the following:
http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
Ok. So ICSwiz + goo.im apps should do the trick.
I won't try it right now due to a busy schedule, but maybe in one week or so.
I will post it there my results, in case anyone is interested.
Thanks for your replies

Download the CM9 Rom and replace the desired apps in /system/app.
Make sure you remove the samsung counterpart, e.g. if you want the original calendar, remove SecCalendar (or something) and calendarprovider, add original calendar and calendarprovider.
Don't be stupid and only replace what you really want!
THIS WILL NOT WORK FOR PHONE, CONTACTS AND DOWNLOAD!
There are many threads where they offer a black google apps pack, search for yourself if interested.
This was built on the stock Verizon wireless 4.1.2, might work for others aswell but untested
YOU MUST BE ROOTED AND HAVE A DEODEXED ROM, you have been warned.
I am not responsible for any damage to your phone, you assume all risk.
I have been a longtime MIUI user, as I enjoy their simple theming techniques....since there is a lack of development of MIUI for our phone, I set out to make the stock rom look as cool as my old phone (never been thrilled by the stock ics text icons in electric blue or any other color, we have these cool arse phones with unappealing graphics....time to change that!). After getting close to 3 days of battery with heavy use (and I mean heavy use, backups, flashing and playing games) and Bluetooth not dropping off in my car while listening to music, I thought it was time to stay stock. (please do understand this is in no way shape an attack at the awesome devs who make roms for us, ad im sure ill eventually start flashing custom roms soon)
lots of the default plain arse black background have been changed to a more appealing dark brown.
Here we go,
What we have here is a BuuF Theme, that still a work in progress.
This theme looks best with the Buuf golauncher or ADW theme and lockscreen theme, however I plan to theme the stock Moto launcher and unlocker.
so far here is whats themed:
contacts
deskclock
geniewidget
gmail
parts of homescreen
messaging
mot camera
moto email
phone
settings
systemUI
framework
apks added and themed:
gallery goolge with 4.2 camera (with working photosphere) <---this will change your device name in build.prop to work properly
miui apps added and themed:
MiFileExplorer
MiNotes
MiuiDeskclock
MiuiMusic
mods included:
1% battery
dsp manager
photosphere
I also have made the corresponding BuuF GoLauncherEX theme and a BuuF GoLocker theme I will be releasing shortly..
the clock in my screenshot is a beautiful widget witht he andromeaBuuF theme applied (I plan to make my own to match this theme in the future)
as this theme is a work in progress, things can and will constantly change...
Please do comment and ask for requests, but please do know I work full time and have a family, so be patient.
credits to: paul Davey - mattahan for the awesome artwork
Bignadad for his jellybean theme I cherry picked the 1% mod from
anybody and everybody who has ever done any work on any phone for us crackflashers to enjoy!
and whoever else I missed.
my credit is only copying and pasting icons where needed, and little reading to modify the build.prop and such
Releases: uploading to my fileserver as it was over this sites allowable file size

BuuF GolanucherEx and BuuF Golocker will be released shortly....they compliment this theme to make a full BuuF experience (or as close as I can)
Forgot to mention also added fonts to match the theme
GOLauncherEX theme released:
search for ByteGOBuuFLaunchX in the golauncher themes gallery (FREE)
GOLocker Theme released:
search for ByteGoBuuFLock in the golocker theme gallery (FREE)
enjoy the missing pieces to the theme above
may take a few moments to show up as I just finished them, and recommended them for the gallery!!!
Awesome theme, my favourite

2. couldn't find any of your work for go launcher ex - went through all the themes/locks last night and there's no sign of bytegobuuf!?
thnx for yor work, there are people who really appreciate it!
