Will relocking automatically factory reset to stock? - HTC Rezound

I may be misunderstanding but does the oem lock command bring it to stock gingerbread?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk

From my understanding it wipes data and locks bootloader. Does not restore you to stock Gb unless you flash the Ruu.

Relocking will cause the bootloader to only load signed HTC/Verizon system files. IIRC, when I relocked mine I could not get past a security warning in HBOOT until I restored a genuine HTC ROM.

Correct on the point that it takes flashing RUU to get back to GB. The oemlock doesn't wipe anything though. Using the unlock token does indeed wipe the device though.

If I was to go back to stock By relocking and flashin ruu..what about phones that have different kernels and firmware patch..will the ruu restore/write over it?
Edit: I never flashed the Ics leak

The RUU will replace the kernel. If you flashed the new leak, you can't go back to the old firmware because of the newer HBOOT. if you just did the patch, it will take it off.

I do believe Scrosler has them on his site. If not, there should be a post in the development section with a link in it. It may be a couple pages in though.

Bottom link is to the last gingerbread update RUU from January. Thanks to Con247 for putting it on devhost.

Download the ruu. Put it on the root of your sd card. Reboot into bootloader. Done.
If you were wanting to make it ready for warranty exchange, you may want to change the glaring S-Off flag back to S-On too.
Some say they get by with S-Off, some would rather not risk the rare possibility of a VZW rep or HTC actually saying your warranty is void due to tampering.

Basically, minus step two. Note that the S-off procedure toggles your bootloader to Locked too.
You should also flash a JuopunutBear hboot after S-off instead of running HTCDev Unlock again to gain your Fastboot commands functionality. Plus PH98IMG files will work on a Locked stock bootloader anyway.
*If* you unlock, then you will be flagged as "Unlocked" in the bootloader, and flagged "Relocked" after locking it back up. Both indicate tampering; warranty becomes a concern.
Only way to show the stock "Locked" flag again is to cycle back through all those steps to process the bootloader flag back inside S-off's magic.
Just sayin', no good reason to Unlock after S-off. But nobody has ever been charged for Unlocked bootloaders by Verizon or HTC either.

Excellent, thank you very much. Not new to flashing ROM's or anything, but with the (former) lack of S-off/the issues of going back with the updated firmware/hboot just had me concerned. Will give it a try later tonight or tomorrow and post back how it goes. Thanks again.

you have to run the same RUU twice in hboot so it can do its complete install.
He wants to get to stock so he won't be using a leaked RUU and so he will not have to run it twice.
What I'm thinkin is, if you made a backup of the stock rom before you flashed your first Rezound rom, you can just do a Restore.

That would only work if your s-off. The boot.IMG wouldn't be backed up if you weren't s_off when you made the backup.

Looking to go back to 100% stock

I have started searching and am having a hard time finding exactly what I need. Anyway, I haven't used my Rezound since I got my S3 so I am not really up to speed on where the Rezound is in terms of OTA updates and whatnot. Right now my Rezound is S-Off on a engineering hboot (I believe) and rooted, but it was stock otherwise (up until I stopped using it).
I would like to get it back to 100% stock (other than S-Off, I will leave that as is for now). What is the easiest way to get there? I am assuming flashing an RUU of the latest stock build? If so, what is the latest stock build that I would get if I re-activated the phone and updated it (meaning I don't want any leaks or anything).
Also, it has been so long since I did any flashing on the phone, but what is the easiest way to flash a RUU (since I have never done that). And can I just flash the latest RUU without flashing anything else first?
Thanks, and sorry for all of the noob questions.

Find the lastest RUU. I know its on android police. Place the file on the root of your SD card, check md5, rename to ph98img.zip, boot into bootloader and let it do its thing. You should be up to date.

Thanks! Yea, I just found it on android police. I am assuming it won't wipe the SD card or anything right? Since I am S-OFF I don't have to worry about re-locking correct?
Also, will that RUU get it back to the point where someone could get the OTA's and everything as if it was 100% stock with S-ON?

Yes , running the RUU will not effect s-off status nor your bootloader locked status.
not to hijack the thread....but I have a question that relates to getting back to stock. I am running business sense, with the OTA. I would like to get the other global OTA.. I am s on. How do I go about doing that?
flash stock recovery
relock
run which RUU? the newest one is a PH file on android police
unlock
flash amon ra
flash new rom
does that sound right?
the part that I am questioning is the fact the global RUU is a PH file. But it says I have to be completly back to stock and locked.
any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

I did s-off procedure a few months ago. it took several hours and kept failing. I used a large insulated paperclip with the insulating material removed from each end for good electrical contact.
What I had been doing wrong was not keeping the wire nice and straight in the hole. when the wire is not straight, it will not make good electrical contact with whatever is directly beneath the hole.
I just thought I'd share this tip in case it helps others.
regards,
Howard
p.s. There is no need to install the jbear modified hboot if you are uncomfortably with it. Installing the modified hboot is optional at the end of the s-off procedure. You will still have benefits of s-off with a htcdev unlocked bootloader while using a stock unlocked hboot. For example one can flash kernels via fastboot flash command with a stock hboot. s-off and jbear modified hboot are two separate modifications to the phone.

actually, on a stock, locked HBoot, you CAN'T use any fastboot commands. That's why it's highly recommended to install the JBear HBoot, plus it gives you an easy option to do it and it does it without the user having to do anything

This is the process I've used from what I've read here many times.
Place the PH98 file of the RUU on your ext SD card.
Relocking the bootloader always has started the flash process for me but if it doesn't.
Pull the battery.
Boot into bootloader.
Let the RUU flash.
Let the phone boot but don't set anything up.
Shut down the phone and pull the battery.
Reboot into bootloader again.
Flash the RUU a second time.
Boot the phone.
Delete the PH98 file off your ext SD card.
Power down and pull the battery.
Boot back into the bootloader and do a factory reset.
Reboot again and enjoy.

Flash the GB RUU and it will update to ICS after the install. If you flashed the ICS leaks then you need to S off so that you can get back to GB. Getting S off is very easy. I would recommend it so you can flash all the new roms.

You have boot 2.11 so you need to get the 2.01 ruu. And yes it will return it too 100 percent stock including the recovery. You want to keep kt that way until after you update with the ota.

What happens when you check for a new update? Does it sit there for a couple seconds and then just disappear and not say anything? Or does it at least tell you that "there is no update available"? I had this same issue on the GB update: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1469246
basically what I had to do what activate my SIM on another rezound and then put it back into my original and it started pulling the updates.

Random reboots after Hboot update

I recently got S-off and decided to update my Hboot and Radio since I was on GB firmware and wanted to be on ICS firmware. I was on Neo's Rage 1.5 Rom when I flashed the new hboot in fastboot and still had a Locked bootloader at this point.
My steps:
* I updated the Hboot to 2.27.0000 and the Radio to 2.22.10.0801r/2.22.10.0803rm from this page I used the 8-12 ICS zip
*After this I formatted the SD card
*then flashed this RUU stock ICS rom.
*I then unlocked the bootloader and then reflashed AmonRa 3.15.
Also, when I would boot into my previous bootloader there was no haptic feedback while holding down vol down + power. Now after the new hboot there is a short haptic vibration before it boots while holding down vol down + power. This normal?
I have tried a couple Sense roms and AOSP rom and each one now has random reboots. Not too often, but usually when I am in the middle of doing something important. Any ideas? Should I switch to a previous Hboot or Radio? It's not that bad of a problem, just wondering if anyone has encountered this. Thanks!
When you did the the RUU flash, did you also do a factory reset after? This COULD cause an issue if not, although I doubt. Extract the stock recovery out of your RUU, fastboot flash it, factory reset then reflash amonra along with rom after a good clean wipe.

I did do a factory reset after the RUU. I will try the method you mentioned. Is that the boot.img from the RUU? Thanks man!
If all else fails, try flashing to the full .12 RUU...at least get everything back to full stock to eliminate any variables.

To flash the full .12 RUU would I need to relock the bootloader prior to flashing? Thanks for your response!

Just a quick mention; why did you unlock the bootloader when you could have just flashed an unlocked hboot like vinylfreaks? Patched the same way JB hboots are.

Don't worry about ti. we all forgot things sometimes. Like earlier today, I forgot to add in the GPU oc option into funky kernel. So you guys get 2 sets of updates instead of just one.
Anyways pertaining to the issue at hand. Yeah a factory reset before you reflash the rom helps. You could potentially be having residual connectivity issues left over from the flash to the new radios. Which causes a kernel panic, then BOOM reboot.

I flashed this RUU and have had no reboots for an hour or so. Looks like that may have done the trick. Thank you guys for the quick responses!
