For a dedicated industrial app, which will be the only app the user should be using on this tablet (Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1", Android 3.2, rooted) I want to simplify the System Bar. All we need is the back and home buttons, along with maybe the battery and signal-strength indicators. We do not need (or want) the little up-arrow and its tray of apps, or the clock or notification bar or anything else.
How can I achieve this? The System Bar doesn't seem to have an API, unlike the Action Bar, which has its own class in Honeycomb. If I wanted to write my own minimalist System Bar what's the existing one called so I can delete it?
Thanks in advance!

I'm running CM7 on my original Droid. I'm using the phone strictly as a VOIP Phone and the cellular connection is deactivated. I've used Ninjamorph to black out the cell phone signal bars, but now there is a big space between my wifi icon and the battery icon (where the cell signal bars used to be). So is there a way that I can swap the positions of the cell phone bars and the wifi icon? Or maybe just a way to remove the cell phone bars from the notification bar?
I would love to be able to rearrange the icons on the status bar and on the notification bar!

So I've experienced an empty space to the left of my notification bar and was wondering if this would be able to fix it/get it back to its original state? Here is the brief on when this occurred:
I had recently updated my sensation to ics. Everything was fine but today after an application update to Google+ and lookout security, there was a space occurring to the left of my notification bar where the notifications for some of my other apps would usually occur so it looked like there was an empty space to the left before my first app notification (all my app notifications shifted over to the right by one space you can say).
I have included photos of before and after.
You would have to edit the layout xmls of the systemui.apk to tell it not to draw those icons
So basically I follow the tutorial linked above with the section "Switching the icons around with the notification icons (optional)"? Or is there another way to do it? Also, do I need root access to continue with that tutorial?

I dont think you need root access unles you try to adb push the file back onto the device and you cant du to root permissions. But you could always slip the .apk into a flashable zip and go from there.
How 2 arrange statusbar icons and change colour of statusbar icons on android 4.0 ics
Hey guys
I m having samsung galaxy s duos gt-s7562 and i m on cosmic rom but having stock status bar...
can any one plz help me and tell me "How to rearrange status bar icons and change colour of status bar icons on android 4.0.4 ICS".....?
I need to get rid of the system bar on Android 4.1 tablets since the tablets will be in a commercial/retail environment and be used for business. My app will be the only app used on the tablet and it needs as much screen real estate as possible for what we're trying to do. I have searched already and I see that there are ways to do it on a rooted tablet, however since this will be in a business and deployed to several hundred or thousand businesses, I cannot have all the tablets rooted for legal and security issues. (Would I really have issues legally though if I were to root them?)
I know that you can dim the status bar and make the buttons dots but that really isn't optimal.
If there is no way to get rid of it, is it possible to change the status bar icons and functionality? I ask this because our app has a status bar on top and we could possibly move it to the bottom and change the icons and functionality of the status bar to match the app's status bar so no screen real estate is lost.
I have read that 4.2 adds some fullscreen functionality for apps. Is this true? Can the status bar be hidden in 4.2 as opposed to 4.1?
You could get rid of statusbar
Add this attribute to activity declaration in manifest
android:theme="@android:style/Theme.NoTitleBar.Fullscreen"

That just gets rid of the title bar for the app and the notification bar at the top. That does not get rid of the navigation bar at the bottom. I would like the navigation(system) bar to be gone.

I know but for un rooted dev this is the only thing that can be done
To completely remove statusbar del the Systemui.apk from system/app
To remove navigation bar at the bottom give me details of your dev and attach Systemui.apk and framework-res.apk they can be found in system/app and system/framework
But this can't be done without root

Re: Getting rid of Status Bar on 4.1
Here's what I would do:
- Setup another Launcher (like Apex) to where 1) only one page, one icon (your app), and lock the homescreen from any changes, 2) make sure that when you press Menu, it performs a different action than giving you an option to access Settings, and 3) disabling the Status Bar in 'General'.
- Change the attribute in the Manifest file like sak-venom1997 suggested.
I'm pretty sure that doing this would give the user no option to change anything. Pretty sure.
Hi,
I was wondering if it's possible to modify the layout of every app that are using the official Android Holo theme to move the action bar that is located on the top of the screen to the bottom near the navigation bar. I think of this as a possible mod that could be flashed, but really I don't know if it is possible. I would find this more comfortable since our phones tend to size up and thereby, reaching the opposite corner of the screen with one hand makes me stretch it numerous times a day that I'm afraid of the possible evolution of mankind's hands(or maybe just one)
Thank you
No the positions of that is declared in each app. Doesn't matter what theme they use as that is all holo is. Just some images and color settings.

Hello.
I've searched through the internet, yet I couldn't find the solution. Is there any way of making notification bar (prefferably stock one) slightly bigger, that it will show 2 rows of icons? I got plenty of apps which shows icons in this bar and I like to keep track on all of them.
If u know any app or a way to modify stock notification bar (which I like) please tell me
Hi,
I'm using a Samsung Homesync. I'm rooted. In this device, the TouchWiz is implemented such that there's no classical tablet UI, but rather a different one. Other Launchers like Nova also work perfectly fine, however, the notification/status bar is implemented differently. You can see the notifications on the top right corner where there's just a number which counts them.
If I launch Nova, since there's no status bar and no special corner as implemented in the stock launcher, there's no notification window.
How can I make this device display the classical tablet or phone status bar, with running application icons, time, notifications, etc. that I can pull up or down to see details?
I tried replacing framework.* files from a Galaxy Tab3 ROM but system never boots if I do so. I also tried just replacing the SystemUI. With modified framework, system doesn't boot. With SystemUI change, it just crashes.
PS. Both roms Android 4.2.2, but different processors. There's no other TW ROM that matches this hardware. Only the Nexus 10 is matching but it's not Touchwiz. I have root but I can't change kernel since it's bootloader locked.

Try a third party statusbar called Super Status Bar. Install like a normal app.
It is not just statusbar strip. It is actual pull down statusbar.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.firezenk.ssb
This supports notifications, toggles etc. (must be installed in internal memory, not on SD Card)
Root access is not required, no custom kernel business.
Shows Date, time, weather, notifications (but does not have swipe to remove), allows shortcut to recent apps.....
Install it to see magical features.
I used it in a ported ROM for my device where I had to freeze stock statusbar because for Force Close.
Press Thanks if helped.
Thanks. However this doesn't take the reserve it's own and take space from Nova but rather part of the launcher goes under it and becomes not visible.
