Back button when surfing internet - Motorola Droid RAZR

I've had my Razr Maxx for 3 weeks now and love it. I'm completely stock and haven't rooted yet. The issue I'm posting about is that when I go to a link from the results page after a Google search, then hit the back button, it returns me to the Google home page, not back to the results. I then have to retype and search again. It does this in all browsers I've tried. Is there a setting I'm overlooking to have it return to the results? Thanks

Mine does this as well periodically, its slightly annoying.

Happens to me also. Power cycle clears it up for awhile
Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2

I've tried after a power cycle, no change. It does it every time, without fail, since day one. I'm trying to train myself to open each link in a new tab, but it is extremely annoying.

Try a simulated battery pull

I just downloaded and tried Opera browser for the first time. The back button took me to the results page, as it should. I'll keep using it for a while and see if it continues.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk

Thanks. Tried the battery pull. The stock browser now works correctly. No such luck with Dolphin.

Some people have reported good results after turning off instant results from within google. In other words in the web sites settings.

Hi, rooted, Maxx, Eclipse ROM.
This happens sometime to me, too. I long press when it does, and open new tab (if I'm in Dolphin, or browser).
Drives me nuts too when it does!

How is Opera these days? I tried it a couple years ago and found the Android version a huge disappointment compared to Opera on an old WinMo phone I used to have.

I hadn't tried Opera since early on with my DX. I've been using it since yesterday afternoon and, so far, I'm happy with it. And the back button is working correctly, although the first press zooms out, then goes back on the second press. I haven't checked the settings yet to see if you can change that or not. It's fast and smooth and it seems stable, so I'll likely stay with it.

opera MOBILE, not "mini" is the best Android browser by far IMO, dolphin second place.

I searched and all i got was MC2, has anyone gotton the third iteration to run on the x2? All that happens on mine is that it downloads between 50-100mb of the "extra data" over wifi, then the game restarts itself.
I have d/l it. Did u actually d/l off market than started the app d/l for mc3.
I Have mc3 and mc2 as of yesterday.
Try a different wifi If it is not downloading all the way.

well thanks for the replies guys, would I be able to dl on 2.3.4 back up with TiBu, then flash 2.3.5 and restore?

This is response to kranium.. I just download the data off of market militia. Org. Works just fine
Sent from my MB870 using XDA
you can try contacting the games developers, they are solid with their responses
that's usually the best way to solve an issue with an app is by contacting the dev
sorry, no other suggestions, downloaded just peachy for me not long ago, game play is super sweet once you get the hang of it, don't give up, if you have to, get close to a tower and download over 3g with good connection, just make sure you plug your phone in (would also recommend doing it outside with battery cover off phone to dissipate heat quicker from 3g radio, tho with an, alright signal it shouldn't get to hot but for 800mb data it's gonna take a while and pull a, lot of battery juice lol)
Finally got this downloaded today.... it looks amazing but the screen is kinda dark. Can't wait to get bored now...

And I'm disappointed again. This game is trash. Retarded load times and utterly unresponsive .. save ur money!!!!

Browser and other stuff not smooth

I have to say that I love this phone, but the browser is almost unusable because it is so laggy. I've noticed that this phone needs hardware acceleration really bad...
The home screen isn't the smoothest either.
Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me?
And pinch to zoom in the browser is a joke. Its laggier than a single core phone.

Have you tried restarting your phone, freeing up some RAM, or deleting some apps that may be giving the phone lag?
Sent from my DROID RAZR
yea probably some other app trashed your phone. sometimes the only way to get the performance back is to hard reset the phone. gosh Android is starting to feel a lot like windows...
You might also have to factory reset to fix the problem. Are up to date on your firmware?
Sent from my DROID RAZR
Yeah. Even when I played with the maxx at the store it just isn't smooth. I had a gs2, then an iphone, and now this. I just think I'm so used to the iphone smoothness that I just have to get back to the Android feel of things. And no I'm not an apple fan boy, the only reason i got the iphone was because sprint didnt have 4g in my area and i just wanted to try it. Now that i finally got a good service, i had to go back to the good os.
I've noticed even scrolling in apps, that the phone isn't very smooth for a dual core. I kind of expected more.
Does anyone know if ICS and hardware acceleration will fix this? Or maybe the soak test update coming whenever it comes?
I have no such problems. All my apps open almost instantly, and I don't get any lag when I scroll. I don't know what to tell you guys. Restarting your phones, update your firmware, kill some processes, and say 3 hail Marys.

iPhone is very very smooth - almost as fast as amiga was. maybe you were spoiled by iPhone? i still think it's weird that all these years later with a thousand times the processing power there's still nothing as smooth scrolling as the amiga from 25 years ago.

If you look at page load times the Razr will kill iOS devices every time. The scrolling jitters is due to lack of hardware acceleration in rendering- Honeycomb and newer uses OpenGL to deliver a much better experience. Yet another reason I can't wait for ICS...

Can't find a keyboard that keeps up with me and has good auto correct

I type really fast and I can't find a keyboard that keeps up with me. I've tried swift key, as well as 5 other apps. Its weird because swift key keeps up with me on my dads evo 3d. Is this screen just not as responsive or something?
Sent from my DROID RAZR using XDA
I've been using smart keyboard by dexilog since i got my phone. You can try it out if you haven't already. As for the screen, i haven't had any issues typing so far. Besides that you may want to look into the new swiftkey beta thats been out for a while and see if that makes a difference.
Honestly I have noticed the same thing. It seems to hang no matter which keyboard I use. Definitely can't type as quick as I did on my iPhone. Try clearing up RAM. Seems to help out a lot. Background processes can affectively the performance of the aftermarket keyboards.

Affect* Damn autocorrect. Haha.

You can try disabling haptic feedback. It helps quite a bit on keyboards.
Try latest swiftkey... Very very impressed with it.!!

Dumb question, but your phone came with Swype...have you tried it? Once you make friends with that method, it's insanely fast.

Bad home screen redraws?

I'm running .181 rooted, and when I hit the home button, all I get is my wallpaper for 5 seconds, then my beautiful Widgets clock pops up, then after maybe 7 seconds all my apps reappear. For a phone of this magnitude I think this is unacceptable. Can anyone help me figure out what I'm doing wrong?

Perhaps try forcing launcher to stay in memory? Or maybe its related to 2d hw acceleration option?

[INFO] Motorola Droid RAZR, Droid RAZR MAXX ICS Bug Fix To Be Ready in September?

According to the site’s sources, the long-awaited ICS bug fix for the Droid RAZR and Droid RAZR MAXX may not be ready until September. That’s about a month after the original mid-August target, and if you’re counting the days with us, it is currently mid-August
http://easternmorningherald.com/motorola-droid-razr-droid-razr-maxx-ics-bug-fix-to-be-ready-in-september/1214804/
I don't have the problems they indicate. All about an update to improve what is already good.
Counting the days...I could care less!

Very interesting as I have 2 phones that out of the blue can't keep any signal and drop sometimes for an hour and then are fine. I tried a new similar and various other things. Wonder if that will fix issues I am having.
Seems strange we've only seen a handful of leaks.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda premium
i hope they keep to their word ics is really buggy on the razr
I have to turn my phone off and on at least every other day otherwise it will go through a bunch off apps like a slide show. Or if I'm texting it will enter a bunch of random characters on its own. It's like the screen is stuck until I reset it. Sometimes the screen doesn't respond at all.

Look forward it~
no issues on razr maxx, ICS is smooth and fast
Battery Life did take a significant hit and I hope the bug fix does come in september.
Ics typing is a nightmare....inserts spaces randomly.

ICS and My Razr
I have zero problems with Stock Razr Maxx 4.0.4 Rooted + some minor tweaks to the CPU, FS, and dual boot using boot manager.
Days without rebooting, unless I am messing with it in recovery, battery life is strong, and no dropped calls etc....
The only update I really need is something that makes the camera work better, picture quality is awful. Third party cams do not seem to solve the problem. Someone mentioned a thread that modifies JPEG compression, I was going to look for that today.
I haven't had one problem with my phone since the update, did you all backup your data and do a cache/ factory wipe before the updating? That's what I've always done. Even my old iphones had problems if i did a major update without wiping.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using xda app-developers app
Lately I have had signal loss.
Not update related. I moved and am in this dead zone. Walk outside the house and signal is like a rock.
+1 on full wipe.
Though smart actions does an annoying glitch but that is something with the app itself or its interaction with data switching on and off.

I heard that the new update could include a unlockable bootloader for the international razr /maxx so it can be included in the unlock tool.
