[Q] How to setup Call Forwarding on your Thunderbolt? - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

UPDATE:
I figured it out:
I have to enter *72 and the number to forward THEN press "Send"..
My bad.. Mod, you can delete this thread if you want to..
I have HTC Thunderbolt with Verizon and I do have a "Call Forwarding" feature on my phone. According to Verizon, all I need to do is the steps listed below to complete the Call Forwarding.
However, when I dialed *72, the message stated that "...this feature cannot be updated"
Anyone experiences the same error or have insight on how to do call forwarding? I am wondering if this is a setting in Android or something.
To Activate:
Press *72.
Enter the phone number where you want calls to be forwarded. (e.g. *72-908-123-4567).
Press SEND and wait for confirmation. You should hear a confirmation tone or a message.
Press END.
To Deactivate:
Press *73.
Press SEND and wait for confirmation. You should hear a confirmation tone or a message.
Press END.

Problems with Nimbizz and Google Voice for free calls

Greetings, I am a newbie who recently got the X10 mini which I love, but I have had days of troubles trying to get Nimbizz and Google Voice configured to make free calls. An awesome developer named "fishsticksfromguam" made this program called "Advanced GV Caller" which I purchased, and could not get to work. I followed all of his helpful instructions, but it still will not work properly. Is anyone else having these problems or can anyone give advice?
The errors I get are:
With A.GV Dialer: it says GV is calling my phone and either the phone call just doesn't go through, or it says that my GV number is not set for callbacks. Since GV does not have a callback number, I don't get it.
Nimbizz: either goes black and freezes and I have to restart my phone, or it says, Nimbizz is not responding, force quit?
Then when I sign back in, it shows that my Skype account under Nimbizz is offline, whereas just a minute before it was online and I was able to make calls.
Also, when Skype is working, I can call out, but I cannot get any incoming calls.
Or it says, Activity Phone (in process.com.android.phone) is not responding, force close.
My Gizmo5 account is set up properly and my Google Voice phone number has been verified by the developer himself. I sincerely recommend fishsticksfromguam's programs as he goes out of his way to help.
Below are the instructions that I have followed:
1. Login in Gizmo5 and under the "FORWARDING" tab, select the option
"Forward All Calls", and enter your gtalk email address, hit save and log out.
2. On my Desktop computer, I start the official Google Talk client.
3. Login to Google Voice and under Settings menu, I added a new Phone
with my Gizmo5 telephone number and I selected "GIZMO" as the phone
type.
4. Google will now attempt to call your Gizmo5 number to verify it.
Since you've forwarded ALL Gizmo5 calls to your gTalk, it will come in
on your Google Talk Client where you can now answer the call and verify it!
*** YOU HAVE NOW VERIFIED YOUR GIZMO5 NUMBER ***
5. Install Nimbuzz (or Fring) on your Android phone, and ensure your
Google Talk is set up properly to receive voice calls.
6. Install Google Voice Call Advanced, enter your Google Voice
Username & Password, and for the Callback number, enter your full
Gizmo5 callback number (ie. 17475551212), and select "GIZMO5" as the
phone type. Select "Use GV for all calls". Hit Apply.
*** You should now be able to make FREE phone calls using your Android Phone ***
The problem is, I can't! Any advice please?
BOUNTY OF AT LEAST $20 through Paypal if you can get this working properly!

Call Forwarding [solved]

I am not seeing the obvious. How do I call forward with my ERIS? I do not see it as an option under settings.....
Answer
Can't you just dial *72, then the forwarding number, and press send? (*73 send to undo that.)
See http://support.vzw.com/clc/features/...orwarding.html

Thanks! I thought this phone would be like my TP2 where you could go to the phone settings and do it on the phone.

Atrix Call Reject option?

I'm coming from the Captivate, and the only option I'm really missing on the Atrix is the call reject feature. I want to be able to automatically reject calls from certain numbers and unknown numbers, can't find the option there anywhere.
I know I can use the 'silent rington' trick, but that's not idea and doesn't work with unknown numbers.
Any thoughts?
Are you asking to blacklist certain numbers, dismiss a call like with volume down, or have all calls for a period of time go straight to voicemail?
Blacklist numbers, I found an app for it though that I'm gonna try
Reject with Text
I was wondering something similar. With the Captivate and many other phones I had, there was an option to "Reject with Text." This was a nice feature I used every now and then. It seems that it is missing on the Atrix, does anyone know of an app or something that can do something similar?
I would suggest using Google Voice, which is free and open to anyone now.
You give out your GVoice number, and set GVoice to forward to your cell phone. No one ever needs to know your cell number direct, and if you change it..you just change the setting in GVoice.
GVoice allows you to actually block individual numbers--and generate specific responses to them! And you won't pay for the call, which would use cellular airtime if it was just your cell phone blocking it.
When editing a contact ---- under "Additional info" -> "Call handing" you can select "send strait to voicemail" .... however Mr. Number block is great for this by automatically blocking known spam by sending straight to voice mail or my favorite the "answer and hangup" tactic
The best solutions as stating before is Google voice as you can play a "this number is disconnected" or "the number you are calling does not accept unknown/blocked numbers" voice mail greeting.
Contacts > [Select a contact] > Additional Info > "Send straight to voicemail" [Check box]
I downloaded an app that works for me. The Contact thing is fine for numbers that you know, but not for unknown caller numbers.
I've tried Google Voice and wanted to like it, but its not my cup of tea.
It looks like the reject call feature and list is missing on this ROM, but not a big deal since there are apps to handle it.

The reject call feature works perfectly...the reason they don't allow you to just block all unknown calls is because almost nobody would actually need that. What if your mother ends up being rushed to the hospital because of an accident and the police try calling your phone (the number she gives)? Police officers usually leave messages but what if he doesn't want to so he tries calling a few times and thinks your phone is off because it always goes directly to voicemail?
It's not that hard to just hit "Reject" when you get a phone call from an unknown number...

The police would not be calling from an 'Unknown' number, if the police are calling me I'd see a number displayed on the caller ID.
I've NEVER received a call from a number tagged as unknown or blocked that wasn't a telemarketer call.
The 'reject call' feature, as I've seen it implemented on MANY other Android phones in the settings menu, is MISSING on this phone. Its not that it doesn't work, its that it is missing (AFAIK anyway)
I agree that it is missing, I miss it too. I used it all the time for a few numbers that kept calling me and asking for random names. Seriously though the same number would call and each time ask for a different name. All i ever had to do before was enable auto reject and click "add to reject" when that number, or set of numbers called. Now I will have to add it to contacts and then reject it. Not a big deal, and good to know that I have an option.
soo in the end whats the name of the free program that can reject automatically the unknown callers? i need that 2.(the SGS+ had that feature and it was awsome, i really need it)

[Q] Call swapping and in call number dialing

hi,
i'm annoyed with two features that are missing in the native dialer on ICS.
1. While swapping calls it always asks for holding previous call or to end it. I can't simply switch to another call keeping on hold the other one.
2. If we type any number during call in the dialer, it just vanishes after the call ends! Its normally needed when you take down a number from someone to dial later
any workarounds?

No workaround for 1.
But a suggestion for 2.:
When in a phone call, just push the Home button and open a note/text editor app.
Then make your notes for later use.
Continue your phone call ... multi-tasking !

P smart 2019 call clearing problems

Hi there Guy's & Gal's
As the title says I have P smart 2019.
This problem happens on a regular basis but not all the time.
If I call some one OR if someone calls me and at the end of the call either way there should be a "red button" to end the call, sometimes I still have the "green button" when I want to end the call.
So I call John (my friend) for example we say goodbye and we are both about to end the call and I can't press the "red button" because it's not there, John say's "are you still there" and I say yes I'm trying end the call.
Now what I do is call my landline to try and force the end call sequence.
Now here's the thing sometimes when I end the call to John and call my landline, sometimes I get the sign saying "john's call is on hold" sometimes not.
I have been through settings etc. and I can't find the solution, does anybody have any ideas ?
