"Download the kernel ftf file from here and move it to Flashtool\firmwares so that Flashtool can pick it up"
got this from naa kernel thread

I have moved that zip file to firmwares folder but it is not picking it
The ok button is not visible also

Are you kidding me seriusly?? You should Extract the .zip file to get the kernel tft file, then place the kernel tft file into firmware folder. Thats it buddy!
Download this and install, to extract the .zip file : Winrar
Right Click the .zip file and click "extract here" you'll get the kernel file.

Iam not kidding
After extracting I got a folder meta-inf,kernal.sin and loader.sin
Which all should I move to firmwares folder

Here is a link off google for a free .rar extractor which will give you the .ftf from inside of it that you put in the extractor.
I got the file to open myself when I used this yesterday.
Download it and try it.
Tell me if you need help with the extractor itself.
Thanks gonna try it

If u downloaded the software, open it and press the open archive button get pick the file to be unpacked. Press extract and once its extracted take the computers mouse and drag the file to the open flashtools firmware folder which should be the now a .ftf file.
Then use flashtool.
Tell me if u still need help

So did u try my instructions? I also would delete the other files in the firmware folder besides the one u are flashing.
If this doesnt help, google other .rar file openers and stuff near that line and that could help too. There is a ton on that stuff.

The flashtool does not flash any RAR files, only FTF files. What RAR file did you download exactly? You might be dealing with 2 different problems.

let me be of some assistance tou you all. it seems a few of you are still learning.
1. since you have already downloaded the winrar program... you dont need to do this step
2. rather than open winrar or the archive tool which you have downloaded... right click on the file till you see extract files or extract here...
3. drag the files that were extracted and put them in the firmware folder inside flashtool..
4 open flashtool program
5. at the top left you will see a few tabs... choose the one that says advanced
6. scroll to the bottom where it says bundle creation.... when the next window pops up... select the files that you set in the firmware folder...
7. they will show up in the box on the left..
8. highlight them all by pressin ctrl+a and then drag them all into box on the right
9. the three empty slots on top need to be filled in. type something.. in all three
10. select ok and wait for it to run and finish
11. from here you can click on flash, choose your firmware the one that you named.. click ok... plug in device when prompted...wait till finished.... enjoy a beer or your woman.... most likely a beer.. lol
good luck

Wow really??? Anyway he was never clear about the RAR file he downloaded in the first place. For all we know he got a zipped/RAR file that's for XRECOVERY which would explain why it wouldn't work. He already mentioned that he extracted the file to the firmware directory of the flashtool and it didn't work that's why I asked what RAR file he downloaded cause it's most likely not the correct file.

Yes really but I didn't take it personally, merely surprised with your opening statement.
Since almost all stock 2.1 firmware and baseband updates you can find in this forum are zipped FTF files, the OP most likely grabbed something else that's why I asked what RAR file he downloaded.

good to go.. maybe i should have read more clearly..
then again im sure i read it well. ive just been up all night working on multiple phones and havent slept yet.
i either use winrar or winzip. so depending on... then again if the OP is using a mac, its being uncompressed when they download and that will throw alot of people for a loop. anyways. im off to bed now.
Ok guys lets clear up a bit so i extracted the original stock 2.1 rom and when i do bundle creation it shows me the folders i extracted but when i select it it takes me further into the files for example the folder name is blablabla i select it and it shows me the content inside that so i see other files and i keep clicking and clicking anyways thanks to all for replying and people lets all not make this a flame thread thanks

Agreed but I never intended on flaming anybody. Other folks in this forum have tendencies to jump the gun and be on flame on mode ala Human Torch .
Anyway can you post a link to the RAR file you are downloading so I can see exactly what you are working with?
Sure on my way home i was trying to flash stock. 435 rom lol from bin4ry's thread about the flashtool lol

You flash the .tar via PDA. Don't open the .tar file.

i wouldnt expect it to be zip.tar more likely tar.zip if so
you can extract the zip file, input any passwords and it should leave you with a .tar file.
you then flash the .tar file using odin on the pda option, without changing any other options. It includes the files you talked about before but as an all in one package. So only the one file is required.
I think the problem is that your file is not from here so I really cannot say what the problem is. I don't use zip format and none of the firmware archives are password protected, just the kernel archives.

Why are some roms not showing up in recovery?

Hello,
I just rooted my phone today and flashed TurkbeyRom as my first rom and it is working fine.
I downloaded a couple of other roms from Omega ICS v3.2 thread but these don't show up in recovery to flash?
I have just cam from a rooted desire....maybe i am missing something here?
Appreciate any help.
hi. i could be wrong here but a think u need to extract the downloaded file first to then make it a zip file. download unzip or unrar from android market, then unzip the omega 3.2 to the same directory, then when u go to flash omega you should see it. hope that helps you.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
unrar is the best one to use. a think its because its a .rar file you download and it needs to be .zip. this method worked for me. any more questions just ask and ill try help you

[Q] zFile?

hey guys, i'm following this guide. http://www.techcredo.com/android/how-to-root-the-samsung-galaxy-s2-tutorial
When it says download the respective CF-root file, mine is KJ1, it should be a .tar file after extraction. All i get from the file after using winrar to extract is a file called "zfile". and it's not even a .tar file, just a .file file. Can anyone help me or attach the 4.4/5.0 KJ1 .tar file or send me the .tar file through my email or something? thanks alot
Flash the file that contained the zfile.

4.0.2.A.0.42 global

i want this firmware for root my phone. already download from many link but why can't extract the file .tft???? pls help...
Do you use flashtool ftf file?
You are supposed to extract the zip file that the ftf comes in (if it does come in a zip file,) and not the actual ftf! Download Flashtool and simply move the ftf file to c:/Flashtool/firmware and then flash it using Flashtool.
