[Q] Launcher for Tablets - Sony Tablet S

I know there are several Launchers that work on Tabs
But I hate those who change the tablet look to phone look,
Most of them are in portrait mode and and thats not the way a tablet should be.
I have the Sony tablet and I don't like the app menu because its to white
and I dont have root access (Not Anymore) after I bricked it xD I had to send it back for repair
and now I have a kernel that is not possible to root (for now),
and I cant replace my launcher from a other tablet which requires root access to change the permissions,
Someone got an idea?.
EDIT > I got root access now, 'Im Glad'
I managed to add the basic Honeycomb launcher from Asus Transformer : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566834http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566834
but are there any better available?
because this one is made for 3.1 version

I just installed Go Launcher HD, very basic but very fast and clean

I use GO Launcher which is a much better homescreen and launcher.

[Q] original homescreen Tap N Tap

I have rooted and updated my G-tab to 2.3 Of course this wiped out the original Tap n Tap interface. I understand that everyone thinks the original tap n tap interface was garbage and the G-tab was locked out of being the free device that all android machines should be. However, in the few hours I had that interface, I was impressed by the homescreen having clock, weather and news blurbs all on the home screen. I have tried since then to essentially perform the same thing with other apps but I'm just not getting it. Can someone tell me how to get a similar or better homescreen set up?
Thanks in advance for any tips... I am willing to pay/donate for something similar (or even use the original on top of this ROM). I am using Beautiful Corners. I also have ADW Launcher.
There are plenty of weather, news and clock widgets available for free in the marketplace. Lots of live wallpapers as well.
TapnTap home screen is nice...but unfortunately too slow.
To have it in your current rom copy launcher.apk and home.apk (or something similar) to system/apps
I only tested it ony Calkulin & Clemsyn rom, so I guess it could work also on Brilliant Corners.

Thanks for your input...but
You can't be serious?! Do you really think someone competent enough to root and flash their tablet without bricking it would be incompetent enough to not know that there are "thousands of apps" out there?
I know they are there - but I can't find the ones that will sit next to each other on the homescreen and do what the original homescreen under Tap n Tap did. If i am being totally ignorant of something easy - then mea culpa... but I haven't seen any screenshots of anybody's homescreen doing this either.... only the Tap n Tap...
How about this one:

Launcher Replacement

Are you tired/bored of your traditional Honeycomb Launcher? Are you in need of using folders?
Then you should try GO Launcher HD for Pad.

Yes, nice launcher indeed, I'm using it for a couple of days.
Just having some problems with widget loading (palmary weather and widgetsoid), but not exclusive of this launcher, had the same problem with ADW EX.
looking good, will try it.
Thanx for the tip
i'm using the honeycomb standard launcher (taken from asus transformer dump) and it works really well!!

As soon as i get home i will post it...
as promised here attached is the stock launcher taken from asus transformer rom, i think it is a 3.1 launcher because it doesn't have widget resize option, if i find a 3.2 working stock launcher i will post it..
NOTE: this is only for rooted devices, you can't install it, but you have to copy it in the /system/app folder, then press the home button, if it doesn't ask you to choose between sony and stock launcher try rebooting your device, make sure to have a backup rom (see condi tool) before, there should not be any problem you know...
I can't seem to install it.... I put it in system/app... Rebooted and it still doesn't show up...

Gotta change permissions
Sent from my Sony Tablet S using xda premium
I haven't changed any permission, i've used file manager hd to copy the file to the folder..maybe it does it in automatic?
I recommend that you use root explorer instead.
When it comes to permissions, he means that YOU have to set the correct permissions when you have moved/copied the file.
The correct permission is 644 (rw-r--r--) (r=4 w=2 x=1)
yup
I have Go Launcher on both my phone and tablet and absolutely love it.
thanks...
Has anybody tried some launchers designed specifically for ICS yet?
I'm running Apex Launcher (free) now and it works really well with the ICS update. Keeps the same slick look and feel, but takes away that "Favorites" button I never use, no small icons up top, and no more of that choppy fast scrolling feature that Sony built into their launcher. Some nice customization options too.
Can get it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anddoes.launcher&hl=en
I'll probably install Trebuchet (CM9 launcher) and see how it works later tonight.
nice

The Apex Launcher looks nice, but I don't see anything that GO Launcher does not do. I especially love all of the widgets that are available for GO.
Don't know anything about Trebuchet.
launcher
Try ADW launcher. It has tons of customizations
Really cool
Same here, ADW Launcher is much better than GO Launcher. I especially like it because we can hide the top bar alltogether.
Go launcher is great on my tablet but why can't I theme it like I can on my phone?

because the DEV has not released it's theme factory may be.
It's still in beta..
GO Launcher HD is still to early to put on our tablet imo, no themes and some GO widgets arent workin properly. Don't get me wrong, its a great work in progress, but its still in progress non the less.
Installed GO Launcher EX when I bought the STS and havent found anything better yet.
I'm sure if they keep up the good work on GO-HD it'll be awesome in a few months.

[Q] "Favorites" app

Hey all,
I have recently installed ADW Launcher EX in order to set my tablet up using the Hubs philosophy. Looks great so far, but the one thing I did like was the favorites shortcut in the status bar on the stock sony launcher. I would like to add it somewhere, but it won't let me add it, probably because it is some kind of hidden system app.
Does anyone know how to add these hidden system apps to homescreens or wherever without need root access or a custom rom?

Without some serious dev work, it looks to me like this is not possible. It seems to be a part of the stock launcher from what I can tell. You might be able to write a non-launchable app that just launches the Favourites, but that would only work if they had any public Intents built-in.
Not too sure, since I'm at work and can't check right now, but thats just my thoughts.
Thanks,
I had thought as much. I actually don't mind the sony stock launcher, just wish I could create shortcuts that can jump to certain screens like in ADW launcher. I'm sure if I rooted, I could find some way to access that applications independently, but I don't really want to go that route with my tablet. My phone was enough lol

Tablet Mode and Go Launcher HD

I know there are a few of you that like Go Launcher.
I was just wondering if any of you using the tablet mod have tried the tablet version (which I believe is Go Launcher HD)?
Or is that not really an option because of how that mod was created?

[Q] android dash cam - crane cvr / Softwiner cvr

Hi, i just bought a Chinese dash cam/rear view mirror on amazon, i think its made by phisung
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00P7G994A?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00
it works well, but the android system is quite dated (4.0.4), and some of the setting are missing or dont work such as brightness adjustment.
so far i've rooted it using kingo and installed titanium and root explorer, and backed up the existing partitions using adb, but what i'm quite keen to do is modify the main launcher screen. at present i cant change the 7 apps on the main windows phone style launcher screen and I want to replace them with alternatives or replace the launcher.
I've sideloaded nova and a couple of other launchers, but whilst I can load them from the app draw, there is no option to set a new default launcher, and the home button always loads the pre-installed launcher, which is some chinese launcher listed as DX_launcher02 in the app draw and daxun.launcher.activity in system/ app folder, I've tried apps like launcher switcher, which have no effect on the default as the options is greyed out.
I've also tried freezing the built in launcher with Titanium, thinking it might then default to nova, but the home button( both hardware and soft buttons) then just loads a blank screen, so I used the recent app menu to go back to titanium and unfreeze the stock launcher.
I'm suspecting there might be a more complicated way to change the launcher, either by editing apk properties and changing the default app to point the shortcuts/tiles to new apps, or by setting a new default launcher, so if anyone can help, it would be much appreciated?
My friend bought exact same model.
He has problem with auto shutdown. Navigating or not - recording or not - there will be pop up that countdowns 10sec auto shutdown.
To abort shutdown - touch the screen. And of course - touching the screen doesn't help.
Have you found any solution for this?
5" Mirror DashCam
Hi I do not know too much about this Android device, but I bought one (Crane_cvr) frm Tingway and it was full of Chinese software. Trying to delete it was not successful and loading Google Play was impossible. The sellers sent me an "new" h200-2.img file which I installed with Phoenixsuite. However, my functionality of the GPS disappeared. I have even connected another working GPS, to no prevail. Since it seems you have lot more knowledge, do you have an idea how I can get the GPS working? I have now been trying for 2 months. GPS Toolbox / Test / etc .. do not pick up any satellites, but it seems the GPS is detected.
Thanks in advance
