Thank you for your input!! I used all my thanks on the desktop today... lol

This might be off based but is there any way to input a more filtered search feature. I hardly ever use a PC anymore and when I try and use the apps search option I get matches for every single device listed. Just a thought.

You mean from the app...I wondered the same thing myself. I find that i have to log on with browser to use an advanced search or forum specific function.

Search on the app is awful.
I try to use thread subscriptions as a way to find things that might interest me again. If I read a random thread in a random forum, I'll never find it again, unless I subscribe to it.

ROM Q&A's are a good idea BUT please don't request it be "sticky". It glutters up the forum, taking up the whole screen and makes members less likely to visual scan the Q&A section so they can be helpful for "non-ROM" questions. Distracting and not necessary.
There is much more to the Q&A section than just ROM questions.

While your input is important to our community, by sticky'ing those rom Q&A we can get the Q&A section orderly and uniform and keep the development relate threads for just that, matching time tested and proven methods incorporated by XDA moderators. Thank you for your input.

I agree, in the screenshot posted (Same thing in the Captivate forum where I used to hang), the entire page is full of stickys for ROM's. IMO that's annoying when forums have so many stickies that only a tiny portion of the screen is dedicated to actual new posts. Most users probably only care about their ROM, and then to them, the other QA stickies are clutter. Just my $.02.

I think you guys are having very important info here, but you are forgetting that using the xda app, this format makes browsing very easy, and if using your pc one can wheel scroll past the stickies. You will notice that 80 percent of posts are done from the app, with a tab for stickies. just my $.02

What I believe would be useful is a single sticky post that links to each individual Q&A thread for the ROMs. This declutters the stickies and allows the individual ROM Q&A threads to flow freely in the forum.

That is true...Tapatalk conveniently puts the stickies into another tab. I don't ever read Q&A, so not a big deal to me, but good counter point I wish they had something similar for the website, where you could "Collapse" the stickies unless a new sticky had been posted within the last 7 days or something.

OCD aside....
There are going to be MANY more ROMs.
Scrolling sucks.
Going to page two to see the first 'real' question sucks.
Yes the app separates stickies, the browser does not.
Make a subforum called ROM Q&A and go back to ironing your sheets.

I still think ole buddy uptop had the best idea....just ONE thread will links to ALL the q&a rom threads that way its not a list of 10-15 stickies till you get the real questions on non rom topics.

Thank you all for the feedback, and it is my understanding that the mods had a quick meeting about restructuring. They have been sticking the Q&A threads made by the devs of the individual roms. This method is a format created by xda moderators to reduce the amount of moderating they have to do. I take no credit for these ideas, I just want the structure here. I feel like my sheets havent been ironed when I come here. jk jk. Thank you to oka1 for his wisdom in this matter!!!

Since this is my thread, I should be here posting comments. Not trying to be rude, but i appears that you are trying to get your count up. Just saying. You kinda came out of nowhere with a troll-like comment. Thank you for your interest in my posting habits. Try looking at my posts and see if you see a general urge to help others.
After reviewing your posts in general, I can see now that you are just the troll, blaming others for trolling. Anyone can see that your posts are general and vague with a hint of smart-assedness.

[Q] ETA on a working CyanogenMod for Atrix?

Any news on the ETA on a working Cyanogen Mod for Atrix? Anyone working on a port? I do like some of the currently available mods. Ninja is pretty awesome. Would like more themes tho. Like the Cyanogen mod look.

First Rule of Cyanogenmod: You don't ask for ETA'S.
There is a group working on an Alpha as far as timelines I guess whenever they get it done.

Sorry, just saw a post that said rule #1 of the CyanogenMod is that "you don't ask for ETAs". Rules 2 and 3 are pretty much the same.
Anyway, good stuff. Continue the good work, guys. I'm a patron. Will start donating soon.

I am a very understanding, calm, level headed person. Lately these forums have been getting on my nerves. We have some great devs who are spending a lot of time making this phone awesome. Be it on PieCrust/CherryPie, Alien, Ninja, Aura, CM7, various mods, kernels, or hacks...
Yet we seem to have had an influx of people lately posting things like:
"OMG Help me how do I root?" In the Dev forum...
"Failed to Boot 0x1000" A new one of these pops up every week in every section...
We have had trolling posts (ROM Kitchen is the newest example).
Posts in which people bicker back and forth for pages on end.
And posts like this one...
There are two CM related threads on the front page of the General forums, and one in the Q&A. The people working on it are not getting paid for it. Its not their job. They have no deadline. It will be done when its done. The Devs working on CM7 have been kind enough to drop us little tid bits of info here and there. Those tid bits can easily be found by reading the first pages of topics in the various Atrix 4G sections looking for CM7 threads.
I'll end my rant there. I know this is "The Internet" and forums bring out the worst in people... This has just been bothering me lately, and I'm glad I got it off my chest.

READ BEFORE POSTING: Android Development Section

!Please read this before posting in the Rezound development section!
I know this has been stated a thousand times before, but the mass number of posts in in the development section that are not development is getting out of hand.
THE DEVELOPMENT SECTION IS FOR DEVELOPMENT ONLY. If you are posting something that others may use regarding development such as a new ROM, kernel, guide, mod, recovery, or tool, it will be posted there. If in doubt, just post in the general section. Our moderator will move the post if it should be in the development section. Please do not post questions/concerns in the Android Development section.
THE Q&A SECTION IS FOR YOUR QUESTIONS REGARDING DEVELOPMENT. If you are going to post a question about development, it goes in the Q&A section. If you have a question about accessories or themes/apps, post your question there if you like. If you have a question regarding a particular part of development such as a current ROM or kernel, you can post in that particular thread to see if you can get some help. So if you are using Ziggy's kernel, you could ask a question in that thread. DO NOT POST A NEW THREAD FOR A QUESTION IN THE DEVELOPMENT SECTION.
THE GENERAL SECTION IS FOR EVERYTHING THAT DOES NOT FIT INTO THE OTHER CATEGORIES. If you have anything else that you would like to talk about that is not a question, accessory, theme/app, or method of development, you will want to post it in General. If you post a question in General (even though it should go in the new Q&A Section), you probably won't get yelled at. You will, though, if you post in the Development Section when you should not.
Please try to keep the development section clear and clean for the developers who will be giving us amazing ROMs and kernels to play with on our newly rooted/unlocked phones. This will make it much easier for us to find them in the future.
The funny thing is that this thread should actually go in development... And be stickied
I was going to post something similar, but it looks as though I don't need to

Ha, I know it should. But that would be kind of hypocritical. If a mod wants to, they can move it. As long as people read it and don't post in the dev section, I'll be happy
I feel like xda sub forums are lacking in some extra boards. Questions and guides need to be added to all the sub forums.

Yes, some extra boards would be nice. This will have to do for now, though.
I quit posting in peoples threads and just report all of them. I am sick of telling people so I just click report every time. No one will learn man. This thread will be burried too. I PM'ed the MODS to get a possible warning thread before allowing to post in Development. Haven't heard anything back.

Do you know how much more there would be to moderate if they gave EVERY device extra subforums? I think they tend to do a pretty good job of adding a q&a(or whatever is needed) section when it becomes necessary due to a device becoming more popular. I'm betting the rezound will be getting one now that its unlocked and development has taken off.

As is stated, do not post your questions in development forum. Before you start a new thread ask yourself this: "is what I'm posting a rom or a kernel?" or "is this a guide for development?"
If it is none of those, then post it in another forum.
Thanks..

Yes we need a Q/A thread like the Evo 3D has. Then people can ask questions about development and devs can share knowledge. It would be a really good thing to have. Sorta surprised that this forum lacks a Q/A sub forum.

Thats great for PC users but the majority of the repeat posts in my opinion are from us phone users...the app search feature is virtually useless and would be great if that could be addressed. This topic has been brought up several times all of which I've posted the same comment. Here is a screen shoot of my using the app search feature...its hard to read but my search is "how to root galaxy note" and these are the results I got...not exactly user friendly for noobs, unless I'm missing something, oh...and my search came up with some 400 results

Ok, I'll play the Devils advocate.
If one chooses to reply to a repeated thread, then whose time is wasted? I mean, I have seen any number of responses pop up to a thread that has been already posted, which mean there are a lot of people willing to respond. And if that is the fact, then whose time is wasted.
Also, if one feels that a thread is taking up valuable space, then doesn't that person have the right to just skip over it? I mean, how much time does it take to really read a question. And if that person responds, then it is of their own choice, therefore their own fault for the wasted time.
Just sayin'

searching using tapatalk is horrid
plus people think if you search for something voila magic the first thing that pops of is your answer, false
you still have to read to all the search replies
i mean with short topic no problem
but with dev topics, with hundreds of replies, its a lot reading
for example, you might want to know about a sms problem about not receiving, you do a search and find a large number of replies talking about SMS, but not about your problem, when somebody could of just not been an asshat for a second, and quickly answered your question
a community should be here to help others, if youre annoyed that someone asks a repeat question, just skip over it,no harm done. let somebody answer it if they can
people be just so pressed to call someone a noob

If people get a little arse itchy, they're not obligated to answer, simply don't respond to a post. Irritation from duplicate posts sounds like a personal issue to me. Most of these people are probably the same PC Snobs. See a duplicate post dont answer it and move on, simple as that. I find myself asking the same questions from time to time, it's not being lazy, it's working smarter and not harder. I'm sure there are those who don't mind answering.
What's annoying to me is people constantly telling people to go search. Do you want to help, yes or no!?

Skip the thread if it bothers you. This forum is far too large for the search feature to actually be helpful.
ALOT of people have and use the xda app or tapatalk (I personally haven't used the website in quite some time)....the search function in said apps just plain blows. So, please don't be so quick to jump someone's ass because this is most likely the problem. Stickies aren't nearly as abundant for the common questions like back in the evo days.

Searching doesn't always cut it. I don't know why people take such offense if something is repeated. 99.9% of the time the one barking at the poster is NOT a MOD. I have searched for information on here and came up empty handed, or it wasn't clear. So that's why its easier to ask!!!!
People need to get over themselves, seriously!!!
I guess it boils down to more than just searching with a button... Search with your reading skills... Read the threads and all the posts if your really interested in success from your given task, i.e. flashing a new ROM, or modding your device. Its not hard to at least read the first 10, and last 10 pages of larger threads. Again if you're truly interested in achieving a result, why wouldn't you want to research all the posts from said thread.

Been there, done that and thread locked.
Im quite sure you will see when ICS is released. Untill then, wait like the rest of us.
No need to make a new thread filled with OT.
Why are some too insistent on having a thread absolutely for rubbish discussions especially when ICS release is imminent? Seriously get a life mate.
I was here
Just i need info, any information, if someone do not like this topic, they don't discuss, i think it's easy to them?!

did you read the previous stickied thread?? ALL THE INFO IS THERE.
And, as the mod said, there's no need to have another thread to repeat the same stuff over and over

Thread reported.
Can I just ask what is wrong with having this thread? It says what it is so people can choose to read it or not. I don't see the harm and I liked the fun banter.
Sent from my brain using my hands
If you aren't interested in it, why not just not read it?
Why must you rain on someone elses parade?
It does you no harm...
There is no 'healthy' reason to 'report' thread...only powertripping mean spiritedness could drive someone to 'report' such a harmless thread...
Here's an idea.... just read things you enjoy so you dont have to spoil everyone else's fun....
well mods will soon lock this, tho i find it a ****ty, mainly coz all other devices have OT thread, and locked sticky thread had name DISCUSSION, not ACCURATE NEWS, or TRUTHFUL FACTS ABOUT ICS
but hey, who am i to judge, if mods cant stand a single thread where people socialize, discuss, let them have all that scattered all over the other threads, and million other threads like this...

I think there's nothing wrong with this kind of topics, i mean come onnnn we must create our own community. There must be a thread to discuss every thing.. Like a chatting thread. The last few days I was checking the ics thread every second, it was fun and exciting!.

Well, the ICS thread would probably still be open if it didnt just turn into people increasing the post count in the thread and turning it into an off-topic thread.
If everyone actually stayed on topic, even with repetitive information (because people are too lazy to read a little/search), it would probably have still stayed open.
This thread is going down the same path because of the whining over the official thread being closed...
Anyways, ICS will be out soon, just hang in there
Closing that thread was a mistake.
I never posted anything there, but was reading it with interest. Even the last 50 pages...
If it was against the forum rules to have it, I'd suggest moving it out to the FLOOD section of the forum, but keep it open.
People here are not news reporters, but every 50 posts there is at least 1 that gave me some info I didn't know... what's the harm in that?
Getting personal is wrong, I get it, the ending part of that thread went wrong... but for the mistake of 2-3 people, you close the thread for everyone? really?

Actually they didn't go personal, it was really a joke - tho obscure one for someone who didn't read all the posts and didn't get some ppls behaviour.
Anyways I'd like to know is folder icon any different on ICS firmware? It's so ugly right now...
This thread is needed, who doesn't need? Go away! Xda is a community forum, right?

Anyway, getting on topic. Have there been any videos of what ICS will look like on the XPS? Anybody have a link for a video?
I want to get a XPS, but waiting to see what ICS looks like first.
Cheers

Good direction comes from posting in the correct section. Questions should be posted in the q&a section, not here.
Oh, and just so you know, these kind of questions will get flamed every time, even in the right section. ROMs are preference oriented. You're always gonna get different responses. My suggestion, take 3-4 hours on a boring rainy day and flash everything. There isn't a whole lot available atm anyway.

If it seems that way, it's because of years and years of senior members telling folks to read the rules and understand the forums. Some just don't have as much patience as others. Golden rule, search and read before posting. Google is your friend.

Like the above poster said, nothing beats experience in helping make a decision. Just like you wouldn't buy a car based solely on what someone said in a forum without a test drive, choosing a ROM is similar. These forums have a ton of great information, and some very knowledgeable people who are generally happy to help. I would read through the ROM threads and look at the feature set that is important to you and then start playing with them in the wild. Right now the only fully developed ROMs for Verizon are Beans and CleanROM which after using both for a few days aren't massively different in terms of core functionality. There are a number of others in development but whatever you choose there will always be a bit of a trade off in features so it will come down to what is key to you. Good luck in your search.

As in life, you have to be thick skinned to survive in forums such as this. Assholes everywhere. You just have to consider the source and move on about your day. It is what it is...

This is too perfect to not be a joke
Thread has been moved.
1) OP, please be sure to post in the correct section. Questions belong in the Q&A section.
2) Everyone else, please just report it and let it drop down. No need to get into it or flame other members on a forum board about a simple question.
3) With all that said, I will be closing this thread. There is no "best" rom. My advice is to read, read, and then read. See which one best suits you and your needs, then flash it and try them out. Opinions will vary, as how certain things will run on certain phones. :highfive:
