[Q] Stuck in a bootloop with Siyan 3.0.1 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay guys and guyettes, I flashed the Siyah 3.0.1 kernel to my lovely S2 but my battery died overnight and now the darned thing won't boot. Due to an issue with the kernel, it automatically tries to boot when the phone is plugged in to charge, but not having enough power to boot up the thing dies and tries again. Continuously. It won't go to recovery mode and if I try to launch download mode it tells me it can't because of the low battery and then starts bootlooping again. Please please help, I've been without my phone for a day and I'm away from home with limited internet access so I REALLY NEED IT D:

pull out the battery keep sometime out, and put back and leave it for 1-2 hours for charging....then boot and restore your previouse kernel

I've tried leaving the battery out overnight, but whenever I put it in and try to charge it just does the same thing. Automatically tries to turn on, doesn't have enough power to power on, shuts down, and tries again :-/

You need a new charger battery or find some way of charging your battery outside of the phone.

Did you use SetCPU or Voltage Settings app to tweak with the frequencies/voltages? Theres a high chance that the Siyah you flashed doesn't support the frequency you have on your device. Id tell you to go into that app and restore defaults.
I was on NEAK before and flashed Siyah on top of it and it constantly kept rebooting and then i realized that if you get constant reboots, they mention to play with the voltage settings.
Try it out, maybe lower it from 1200Hz to 1000Hz being the max.
Let me know if it helps!

Happened to me once when I let battery run down too much. I left it charging in bootloop for a while, then unplugged charger, boot the phone, and replugged charger.

Well that was the issue of the kernel but it was solved later. For ur problem try to charge ur battery using master charger. Also try to go to recovery mode while charging and charge for a while and reboot ur phone.

I've left it "charging" in bootloop overnight but it still won't turn on enough to set it charging properly :-( it also won't enter recovery mode so I can't leave it charging at that. My housemate back home has an S2 so it looks like I'm stuck without a phone until I can get back and borrow his phone to charge my own :-/

Hmmm. This is a long shot, but try this: plug the phone in. Then, while it is booting and the phone is still plugged in, take the battery out. (this used to work with my old Motorola Milestone - it would stay on even when the battery was out)
If it stays on, put the battery back in and hope for the best. Otherwise, you'll need to either acquire an external battery charger, or wait til you can borrow your buddy's phone to charge your battery.

Plese change such headings.....
A request to the members to change such headings...which directly give a bad impression of a product wich is an outcome of very hardwork of some dedicated devs....this may be only your case with Siyah kernel which might be a result of your earlier config, whereas thousands of users are using the same flowlessly....
thank you

[Q] HELP!!!!!!!

My Aria was running CM 6.1.1 fine 'till all of a sudden it won't charge.....
Only when it's connected to a charger I'm able to turn it on and it goes straight to Recovery mode. After turning it off and on couple of times i manage to get it work but when i disconnect the charger it turns back off.
What should I do? I don't know what can be the problem. I tried to flash new ROM, including my backups but it didn't help.
Thank you!
did you run your battery completely down to 0%? clockwork has a known bug where if you plug the phone in while its turned off, it will load into a faulty version of clockwork.
i'd recommend leaving the phone plugged in, let clockwork show up, hit reboot now, and just leave it plugged in to see if it maintains a charge.
Hey,
Ive tried it. it won't charge and even if it does, the battery lasts for an hour or so ...
So the problem is with my battery?

[Q] S2 won't boot after battery depletion

Hi,
Few days ago I forgot to reload the battery. Now that I try to bootup the gt-9100 it only shows battery logo with loading sign. It won't react to any button presses, so i can't get to download mode or to recovery mode.
I flashed CyanogenMod 9 Nightly a week ago. It worked like charm until now.
Does some one here have any kind of suggestions I could try?
Thanks..
How can you be sure that the battery has enough energy to boot the phone as you can still see that it is charging? Eventually the battery should be reported as fully charged.
when it depleted i connected it to charger and left it there to a whole night.
it should have enough charge.
just tested some some key combinations and i got good results. when i push vol down + home + power before i put battery back to the phone, i get to the odin mode.
now i have to find usb cable somewhere.
I got it flash new rom to it. First time the problem still persisted.
After trying some new button combinations and after flashing cmw i got it boot up.
Few seconds after fully booted, it powered off and i got same battery logo that does nothing. I'm starting to wonder that the problem is somewhere in the battery or the battery charger system.
Yes, might be a problem of the battery or the charger. If possible you should first try this battery in another phone and/or another battery in your phone.
If you have the possibility to charge the battery outside the phone that too would we worth to try.
For me it looks like your battery is empty but I might be wrong.
Flashed it again with a samsung stock rom. Now its staying alive.
Now it notifies me every few minutes that "Charging paused. Voltage too high.".
The phone is not currently connected to charger.
My guess is that the battery has gone bad. Unfortunately i don't have any other batteries or phones that i could test.
I think i have to go and buy a new battery.

Actually, this sounds like the port may be bad. You could try cleaning it... But you'll probably have to replace it.

[Q] "Soft-Brick" when battery removed?

Hi, I have been asked to repair a SGS2 for a friend. The problems he described with it are that it would not turn on, enter recovery or download mode...but would display a battery logo with a circle in it for approx 5seconds with USB power attached. He says this all happened after re-flashing using Kies - he is not very phone / IT literate.
Repair Process:
1) After some research, testing and messing about I made a USB jig for it and it booted into download mode, though only with USB power attached. Connected to ODIN and re-flashed the phone with the stock ICS UK rom (IML74K.XWLP7)...Success the phone accepted the flash no problems, but still had the same non-booting / flashing battery logo only with power error, though it would now go into download mode without the jig.
2) Did more research on here...Thanks to all the useful posts!!! And discovered that the error could be caused by the battery being totally dead, and the phone unable to boot-up enough with USB to be able to charge it - great idea Samsung, to charge the battery you must first power up off the dead battery. Not having or being able to access / borrow a SGS2 myself I decided to try to manually charge the battery by making a charging dock for it. Before charge battery had 3.53v and after 30min on-charge had 3.68v, put freshly charged battery into phone...same problem totally dead unless plugged in then flashing battery logo with USB power.
3) Lots of swearing and cursing at phone, then had a few bottles of Pear Cidre. Decided would be good idea to attack phone again! Took fully charged battery from a HTC Wildfire and for want of better description jump started the SGS2. SGS2 in one hand, Wildfire battery in other and soldering iron in mouth i think, a battery booster was born. Connected booster to SGS2 and without USB power connected turned on phone...Success it lived, finished flashing its self and booted up. Removed booster and phone reported the battery had 98% charge.
4) Passed out in bed... awoke this morning to find phone still on and working well, battery had dropped to 82% in 10h. Decided to bite bullet and turned phone off to see if it will turn back on again and...It did. Repeated process six or seven times through morning as well as using for You Tube and Interned to run battery down, still only got it down to 41%. Though would try my SIM card in to test that all works well and after turning phone off, pulling back off and putting SIM card in without removing battery it all worked great...But then turned phone off, removed SIM and accidentally knocked battery out -D'oh, did not think anything of it until i tried to power back on...dead without power and flashing battery logo with USB power, used battery booster again and phone powered on no problems at all and reports battery power without booster of 29%
Does anybody have any idea whats going on? / Why if the battery is removed from the phone it will not power on at all, even with a charged battery?????
Thank you in advance for your input!

[Q] Phone won't boot, can't enter download or recovery

A few days ago my phone got soaked through my pants as I was working in the rain. I came home, dried it out, etc. and tried to turn it on. Wouldn't turn on, so I started charging it. I eventually got it to turn on and it seemed to be working fine except for some reason it said the battery life was at 0 %. Note that it was still working normally otherwise.
I went into recovery, made a backup, and did a factory reset to see if that would fix the problem. It didn't, so I restored the backup. Now the phone won't turn on at all.
When plugged in, it shows the charging battery symbol, and if you hold power to turn the phone on it will sometimes begin to start, but it gets to the boot animation and simply stays there forever (I've left it at the boot animation for several hours to no effect). If I try to boot into recovery it simply does not work; it will either just restart the battery charging animation or boot normally (and then get stuck on the boot animation).
In a last ditch effort, I was going to try to flash a stock ROM from Heimdall. However, I plugged my phone in and tried to enter download mode and was greeted with the error: "LOW BATTERY!! CAN'T DOWNLOAD!!." This was after charging the phone all night. I then proceeded to charge the phone for another hour then try again, to the same error. And now here I am. It seems the problem is that my phone will charge, and the battery will be full but for some reason the phone doesn't recognize that the battery has a charge, so it just thinks it's at 0%. I've tried a different battery and was unsuccessful. Is there any way that I can either force my phone to enter download mode or somehow get it to recognize the charge on the battery? Or is there some other way I could resolve this? Or is my phone simply gone for good?
I am (was) running a rooted I777 with Slim Bean ROM ( I believe v8) 4.2.
Have you tried using a JIG it can be an option
If a JIG doesn't work you can try removing the battery, then plug the phone to the PC and go to download.
But for me the problem is with the battery. If after flashing the ROM you get the same results, don't think it and BUY A NEW BATTERY.
Good luck.

If I'm bad at English is because I'm from Argentina and I'm learning.
I has the same problema, I spend two days searching on the web, but i didnt have any idea.., ,y problem is. when we conect to ANY charger (car/wall/PC-USB..) appears on screen a batery logo, but the batery never charged..., I tried to enter to the CW but, the keys combination doesnt make anything on the phone, and without live on it, I cant access to CW..., I wait for 2 hrs, with these cell phone conected to charger to see if the it gone works...
ANYONE has another idea for how we resolve these issue? My phone has a stable version of CyanogenMod..
same with me but what i did was put a different battery in, let it charge for a bit then put the original one in and it only started charging after i used my car charger as i was driving to work so thats how i fixed mine.

[Q] is it dead?

I usually let my phone all night on the charger and when I wake up check emails, news etc.
So the other day when I waked up, open wifi, check email ... phone started heating up, really heating up, almost too hot to touch and also seemed to drain the battery . So, closed the phone immediately and took the battery off. After that it would start the endless reboot cycle every time I put the battery in and plug in the charger. It won't charge at all even if I tell it to shutdown through fastboot. Bought a battery through ebay which came half charged, managed to flash a stock rom through hboot but nothing changed and the battery is drained now and can't try anything else. Also I have to mention that I couldn't access recovery as it would reboot as soon as I made that choice in the hboot menu. Current status is that as soon as I plug in the charger, red light turns on for one second and than the phone seems to try to boot and well endless cycle of that.
Phone was s-off hboot 1.49 and some recovery which I can't remember.
So... is it dead?
seem like you can boot into bootloader/fastboot. But revovery is a no go? Recovery does off mode charging, so if it's bad you won't charge. That would be a software issue, as for hardware I don't have a clue. If you can power up with cable, then I'd say maybe it's only software. I'd try an ruu, back to stock and see if that fixes.
