{Q} Trackpad seems not showing mouse pointer - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

I was wondering if anyone else's mouse pointer stopped working. Track pad still works just fine. I use it to scroll up and down pages, but the mouse pointer never shows up. Did I acidently turn off a setting? If so, does anyone know how to get it working again. I have tried putting the tablet in it's dock about 15 times, but it's still a nogo. Thanks in advance.

I found the answer myself by playing with almost every setting and button lol. Apperently the button on top of the #3 turns off the trackpad. I learn something new everyday. Mods, you can close this thread.

[Q] Directional Keys on USB Keyboard

I have asked this question over on Archosfans.com too but have not received an answer. I have an archos 101 and use an apple keyboard. Ever since 2.2 the directional keys are not working right. If I push down it goes right and if I push up it goes left. And the right and left keys are also backwards. I am just trying to figure out if this is everyone elses experience.
Now the silly part is that if I turn the screen to vertical then it is right. I am trying to figure out if reinstalling the aos will help resolve this issue.
Is this unique?
this happens on my 70 with my bluetooth keyboard
even under 2.1, the direction keys were off. they seemed to be oriented then to the archos name. When tablet was horizontal, regular it worked, when it was upside down (better viewing angle for some things) they were backward. maybe the switch is set based on vertical now.
I have noticed that some web pages work better in portrait, too. My gmail through web wont scroll in landscape, fine in portrait. Cool that google docs works in browser, though.
use a mifi !

[Q]Anyone got intermittent problems getting the dock/keyboard working

My dock (I'm from the UK so dock and tablet come together as one package) only seems to fully work about 25% of the time. Most of the time when I connect it I don't get a mouse pointer and I can't use it to type :-( The tablet recognises the dock being connected as in the notification area it says "You can now use the keyboard to type" and the tablet charges from the dock. However, only the top row of the keys do anything - so I can lock it, mute the sound, turn off wifi etc fine, but none of the other keys work. The other 25% of the time when I connect it the mouse pointer instantly appears and I can type fine. The bar always goes to the lock position, so I'm assuming I am connecting it correctly.
Apart from this the tablet works fine - no dust or dead pixels, good wifi, minimal light bleed, so I'd rather not return it and get another one with other issues. maybe a loose connection on the dock?
Anyone else with the same issue, or who can help?
I had some problems with the dock functioning, but it seems to have gone away after plugging/unplugging a few times. Now it seems fine.
I am also from the UK and have the same problem I have tried to remove the dock a few times and sometimes it works. It never worked first time. The table is perfect with Bluetooth and GPS working. My main problem is that it takes ages to boot up compared to my 101, about 4 times as long. I will wait a couple of weeks see if an update sorted it then return the thing back to Comet.
No problems here. Did you guys get the firmware update? I am using MobileDock version TF201-DOCK-0206, that got pushed to me the first time I docked my TFP.

Yes I have the same version TF201-DOCK-0206 thanks for the reply
I'm from Austria, but got the package with tab and dock too, i think thats regular in EU. I have no problems with my dock. Maybe you've pressed the "disable mousepointer" button? it's next to the bluetooth button on the dock

Thanks, Hadn't noticed that button. If the dock isn't working (which is about 75% of the time) and you press that button to disable the mouse pointer and then press it again to reenable it, the mouse pointer will work for a short time, but the keyboard still won't work in this scenario. If you leave the mouse pointer to disappear you can't get it back again until you press that button twice again.
So its still not working properly but there can't be much wrong with it if you can press a button to get the pointer on again. Maybe it will be fixed by the ics update on thursday?
Mine has a little issue where after not using it all night the dock will not funtion. There is no mouse pointer at all. Once I pull it off the dock and put it back on it works just fine the rest of the day. Anyone else have this issue?
Got it working again by rebooting and then re-docking a couple of times (typing from it now). Been working for 30 mins - scared to leave to go into sleep mode in case it fails again ;-)
Closing and opening the hinge seems to help, but probably best wait for todays update before worrying too much!
Got this from ASUS support today;
Could you please await the firmware update that is due to be released this comming thursday?
If the firmware update has failed, please back up all your data and try the recovery back to factory settings as per instructions below:
1. Press and hold the power button and choose <Ok> to shut down.
2. Remove any SD cards from the Eee Pad.
3. Press and hold the <Volume Down> button, then press and hold the <Power> button. Keep pressing them both until you see white writing on the screen. You may then release them.
4. Wait five seconds until you see an icon in the middle of the screen labeled "Data Wipe".
5. Use the <Volume down> button to highlight "Data Wipe"
4. Press the <Volume up> button to execute the process.
6. After the "Wipe Data" process finished, it will automatically reboot and start normally.
Didn't do a wipe, but I'm still seeing this occasionally after updating to ICS 9.4.2.7. Open/Close seems to persuade it to work.
Select Asus keyboard as input and the keyboard will work. EOT
Changing the keyboard setting doesn't always work. Sometimes the special/shifted keys get mapped wrong too. It's all related, but some point in the process seems unreliable.
Mine does the same thing. I have to reboot the tablet while off the dock and then plug it in at times for it to work.
Same here. Bought from PC World in UK.
Is this a software issue? If not, I'll get it swapped.
I have the same problem with the dock, i tried everything. Hardreset , factory reset, reboots with and without dock on prime but nothing changed at all, the dock is working about 10% of the time and that is completely random.
There doesnt't seem to be a loose contact between dock and prime, because I tried to move around the dock and the prime in every direction while they were connected and the keyboard was working at that time without problems and without losing connection or an error message.
As soon as I'm working with the dock for a few minutes or when the Prime (while connected to the dock) is turned back on from sleep mode, either the dock's keyboard or the touchpad or sometimes both stop working.
I'm using the DE version of Android 3.2.1 as firmware,

Nope! ASUS keyboard is already selected - I've tried every combination of keyboard it makes no difference to the functionality of the dock. full keyboard only works 10% of the time, mouse pointer only works about 25% of the time, the top row of keys works 75% of the time, and dock charges the tablet 75% of the time.
On the odd occasion when all the keys do work, they only work for up to 30mins or so, or until it sleeps :-(
A user on transformerprimeforums.com as tried a different a second tablet with his dock - and it worked fine. Which assumes his tablet is the issue? Which is a bit weird as I would have assumed an issue with the dock. Anyway, mine is going back (both tablet and dock as it's one package in the UK) and I'm going to try a second one. Any issues with the second one and I'll give up and get a refund :-(
Problem persists for me on TF201-DOCK-0206 .
Although sometimes irratic and difficult to replicate, I've found a way that normally works.
When booted undocked, then docked after lock screen displayed, MobileDock works.
When booted docked, MobileDock still charges, but isn't fully functional.
I've installed all firmware updates so far. No change.
I also have the same problems with my TF201-DOCK-0206 as mentioned in this thread. Was hoping for the last update to solve it, but it didn't.
What I found out is when the keyboard works, keep the Caps Lock light burning if you don't use the keyboard.
I'm not sure if it is a soft or hard issue, but I don't think it has something to do with bad connections/connectors. More like a component goes into sleep mode and won't wake up the normal way.

[Q] Anyone ever get ghost hits on the screen?

***Nevermind This post. I figured out why this is happening. It was becuase 'use vertical swip to change to symbols' was ticked and apparently just a micron swipe is trigging this on my phone, i type too fast for this option, Turning it off has seemed to fix my problem.****
This is a wierd topic i'm sure, I'm wondering if anyone else ever gets ghost hits on their screen when typing with the on screen keyboard.
I use the regular built in keyboard, no custom rom, no root, nothing, and it seems like 1 out of every 3 or 4 messages i'm typing my keyboard will randomly switch to the symbols, its annoying as hell and I cant figure it out.
You might think "He's probably hitting the key while typing" but its in the lower left corner, and sometimes it will happen when my left hand isn't even typing, i'll be going to hit the I key with my right thumb and BAM i'm in symbols now... I dont know if its exactly the same key every time I cant seem to quite reproduce the problem, it just randomly happens and its irritating.
I'm wondering if there could be some kind of link to the screen protector causing this or not? It's a clearvue screen protector.. I've also noticed when playing around with the screen, that sometimes I can get my fingre sooo close that it actually detects a response, and my finger hasn't even touched the screen yet! IS there some sensitivity thing i can adjust or something? cuz i dont know whats up with this wierdness...
Anyone else?

Need help with remote key emulation (Cool Reader/Muku Shuttr)

I use Cool Reader every day on my Nexus 7 to read while at work. I like to recline back in my chair and read but then have to constantly lean forward to touch the screen and turn the page.
Then I heard about Muku Shuttr on Kickstarter and figured I might be able to use it as a remote control page turning device. It pairs with the tablet using Bluetooth and it's single button emulates a VOLUME + button press.
Despite setting the VOL+ to the NEXT PAGE action in Cool Reader's options, it doesn't work. Cool Reader is sensing the input somehow, because when I press the button it immediately switches to a black screen with DOCUMENT LOADING displayed and then returns back to the page I was on. If I press it 2 or 3 times, it will freeze on the DOCUMENT LOADING screen requiring an app restart.
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions of how I can get this to work?
If no one has any ideas, can anyone at least point me at a better place to ask?
No one?????????
Problem solved. Developer of Shuttr suggested I switch the device into iOS mode, which works perfectly!

Playing games via mouse over USB?

Well, the touchscreen on my Lifepad S9314 is coming to an end. Via YATT (yet another touch tester app) i recognize there a a lot of spots where my 1-tap gesture/point will trigger 2-3 "ghost" taps on the same horizontal but on the other side of the screen. (which causes a multi-touch-gesture being recognized, which causes most inputs not doing what i intend to do. (Typing, Games).
Well i already ordered a new Lifepad (which is coming soon) but in the meantime i'm stuck with this one. Most of the time i have no problems, but sometimes the "ghost"-taps keep coming every time - very annoying. Anyway I just thought "why not plug a USB mouse in and play via mouse?" and it worked. (via package/stock USB-OTG-Cable).
I tried it out and it worked. Now i have a small mouse cursor on my tablet and can play around with a mouse. I can play games, but one point is still "missing":
how can i "emulate" a 2-finger tap (so a gesture where i touch the screen in 2 places, like for a blocking-sequence in a game)? Because every mouse button i press (left middle or right results in a single tap. I "could" just touch the screen with 2 fingers at events when needed, but as my mouse has more than 1 button, isn't there something like a "makro" wich for example tells the tablet, that right click results in that 2-finger-gesture? Or else like using mouse wheel for progressive/repetitive/fast/action tapping?
