[Q] Nokia Lumia Screen failure? - Nokia Lumia 800

I keep getting this screen block issues, it happens very often, and it ignores any of my action, even on the start menu, and to fix this I must press 'lock/unlock' button, when it's blocked, if I keep pushing the lock button to shut down the phone, as you can see in the video is still doesn't respond, the only thing that make it work is to lock/unlock it.
The phone is taken from TIM, and doesn't have the last firmware update, because they didn't approved this, have anyone got this screen issue?
Also to mention, I am open to everything at the moment, I saw a reset menu in the About section from Settings, but never used it, also what's the 'hard reset' stuff? Should I try them or wait for the firmware update? Please excuse the video quality.

update firmware manually with wpupdate.exe

I want to help but unfortunately my country do not allow their people to get access to u2b.......could u upload a image.......?

[Q] Phone Does Not Vibrate/Freezes with long End Press.

Hi,
I've been installing and testing various ROMs for my T-Mobile Leo (HD2) before and never had any problems until now. Problem is, after the last flash, I noticed the phone doesn't vibrate any more, I've checked all the settings and even turned vibrate on/off, nothing helps. Also, if I long press the end key to shutdown the phone, it freezes, I then have to press end to lock, wait about 30 seconds then unlock to be able to use again. Important to note, when the phone freezes, only the touch screen freezes, the buttons continue to work, and I can even call the last party or answer/end calls.
I flashed some older firmwares that I used to use that used to work, but these problems still persist.
Is there any way I can diagnose the phone hardware completely? Any program or tool? I live in Guyana, South America so taking it to a repair centre is not an option, basically, I have to fix it myself.
Did I post this in the wrong thread/forum? Why and I not getting any help?
I'm still having this problem and need help! Somebody... any suggestions???

Mate, honestly, I never notice that it would vibrate on long pressing
As long as your phone is working, then you shouldnt worry about it.
Or else, you can try to restore to original stock rom and see if this is due to hardware problem or software problem
I don't mean that it vibrates on long press. I said that it has stopped vibrating AT ALL!
In addition to that, the phone freezes alot, especially when I long press the end key. It is behaving like a hardware problem, that's why I'm asking about diagnostics for the HD2.
I dont think its anything to do with the rom. I had the same problem with mine, what happens is the flash lens gets pushed inside and stops the vibrator from rotating. Just check the lens if u see it pressed, its an easy fix if u know how to take the phone apart. For instruction check out youtube. I hope this helps.

You should probably read back my post... I said the phone stop vibrating... not that it stop vibrating on long end press... It also freezes when I long end press... Hence, the reason I asked for any diagnostics for the HD2 as I suspect it may be hardware related...

This actually seems to be the problem, I will open the phone and check... Thank you so much for your suggestion, I followed this suggestion, and now the touch screen is not working... but the phone is vibrating again. Any ideas what I will have to change now?

Home button and Voice talk

Hello guys,
I am having this issue with my device - sometimes when I press the home button the Voice talk / command powered by Vlingo starts. I always press the button just once (I understand that it should happen when one double-presses the home button) and it is very annoying :-(
Note, that I have Settings/Motion/Double tap turned off as well. Is there any way to fix this or do you have any idea what may be wrong??
Thanks in advance!

while in the motion settings, you can see the tutorial clip and that double tap has nothing to do with the home button, but with double tapping the top side of the device to start voice control instead of saying "hi galaxy". so even with that switched off, your device will react to hitting the home button twice and does not really help diagnose the initial problem.
either you have a slight hardware defect in the home button, a software issue (or maybe user error). since hardware would be more severe, let's see the software side first. what exact rom do you have? device rooted or not? anything that could mess with voice input (connected bluetooth hands free, market vlingo or other tts or stt software installed...)?
also, just to exclude user error, let another person try.
P.S. are there special circumstances when this happens? like only from deep sleep, only when charging, with a connected headset, running certain apps or whatever?

Hello, thanks for your reply. I am running the device with an unmodified SW i.e. stock rom (having a branded phone from orange slovakia), no rooted just some apps installed from the android market. It is XXKE4/XWKE7, running android 2.3.3. I dont use bluetooth or handset nor dock or anything like that.
The issue seems to be completely random to me, while I usually notice it during browsing web with opera, but it happens with more apps. I don't know what is tts or stt sw, nor market vlingo. If you would like to know some more details please let me know what would be relevant for you.
I already thought about the hw issue, but I am not sure if they would accept the warranty claim as it is quite random. I thought there would be some way to completely disable voice talk as I dont expect to use it anytime in the future anyway...
As of the user error, it happens both to me as well as to my gf while using the phone for common internet use.

ok, that gave us something to work with. for future reference, when asking a question like this, it might speed up the process by giving as much information in the initial post as possible and let me explain why:
the fact that you use your unrooted stock rom tells me, that it is not a common and maybe reported bug that comes with a custom rom, and with an unrooted device, it is rather unlikely, that you screwed up a system component like this.
bluetooth, docks and handfrees could influence the voice input and its triggering by having their own triggers, but that is not the case.
if it happens to other people with your phone as well, it excludes your personal behaviour, tremors or whatever (no offense, you never know, just to cover everything, some people are shaky).
if it happened only in a special state, like only while sleeping for a minute or while charging, it would ensure, that it has something to do with deep sleep.
about the other things: with tts i was referring to text to speech, the engine that reads out display content, like incoming calls, text messages or navigation instructions, stt refers to speech to text, like voice input, saying hi galaxy, telling where to navigate or dictating notes...
vlingo is the engine that is used for voice talk and voice command and there is also a 3rd version, that can be downloaded on the android market, coming with yet other features and having them all present and maybe screwed up settings might have influenced anything there, however, this doesn't seem to be the case either.
so this leaves few options for how to proceed. in your place i would start off with reading this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1097153
it deals with home button issues and a theory on how the home button sometimes might react as much as 15-30 minutes later than initially pressed, which might coincide with an actual press and being registered as a double press (although that's a stretch at best).
and when it comes to a next step, if you made sure, that does not apply to you, i would be uncertain, which way to go. a factory reset might help, but if, after hours of setting the device up again, you realize there has not been any change, it was nothing but work. then there are 2 things left:
either flash a newer rom using odin and any rom from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 (full guide and download links included)
OR decide to send it in for warranty first and see what's what.
flashing a rom might solve your problems but influence your warranty state, if not done correctly and cautiously, which would make sending it in risky.
sending it in first and not getting that bug recognized or repaired for free would mean you might end up with weeks without your phone and/or a huge bill and the same issue as before.
i guess i would get a usb jig, read up on flashing, try several stock roms, not root the device and see if the bug is gone, if not, flash back to stock, make sure the flashing is not traceable and then try a local store or your carrier for a hardware replacement or repair.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Problem

Hi
I have an unlocked samsung galaxy s4 gt-i19505
Recently after i updated to 4.4.2 kitkat i started having problems. After the phone is not being used for a while, when i press the unlock button the unlock screen appears but the circle with the lock inside it is missing and the phone appears to loose touch i can't unlock the phone or pull down the notification panel. When i press the lock button again the screen goes black and the phone just freezes completely. It doesn't react to the unlock button any more or to the home screen button. I have to take out the battery and then everything is normal again until the phone is left unused for a while again.
I tried reinstalling the firmware again but it didn't help. I didn't factory reset the phone as I don't want to be setting it up again as it takes me a while. Does anyone have similar problems knows how to fix it ?
Thanks.

It sucks to reset, but you gotta do what you gotta do. That is often the first step of troubleshooting as it eliminates lots of other possibilities all at once. Especially if you updated to 4.3 to 4.4.2 without wiping. I know Samsung says it's cool and give OTA updates and all that, but I've worked on dozens and dozens of Samsung devices and they always seem to run best if you factory reset after updating (or downgrading). There are tons of apps that can back up your call logs, texts, apps, contacts, etc that you can use to restore afterwards. Then you just gotta log back into your accounts and set up your home screen. It's annoying, but will probably be quicker than trying to troubleshoot one little thing after another. Just the nature of the beast with stuff like this. It's not Samsung's fault per se, just how software is. It seems to run differently on different phones without much rhyme or reason.

Urgent Help!!

Guys! I need help please! I have an Lg Optimus F3, and today early in the morning i downloaded some random game to play, don't remember the name, but it kinda froze my phone, so i hit the home key, and then all these messages popped up saying, "This application has stopped working" for every single app.
Then, my phone turned off, and now every time i try to turn it on it takes like 30 minutes to show the LG logo, then after another 15 or so eventually loads the actual boat up menu, and after about another 5 loads the home screen.
Settings are also being stupid. I try to go into Security and they force close. And the home screen won't load.
I've only had it since like september, so it's too early for a new phone.
I did a factory reset when it wouldn't turn on, so now it's in stock, just like when i first got it. But it still won't work.
Anyone have any suggestions please? I just want it to boot up fast, and start working like normal again.

You will have to flash a kdz (stock firmware) file via LG Flash tool (R&D Test Tool). You will find the needed informations HERE.
Also, if you aren't sure what the name of it is, you should be able to go to the Play Store via any browser and log in and look at your apps. You should be able to tell from there. This might not help you get your phone running again, but if you let others know you had trouble with it, it might be helpful to others.

Thanks for the help guys. Didn't work thought. I just contacted LG, and they told me to send in the phone, and they should be able to fix it. Thank you though.
What didn't work?

Google Assistant Won't Do Anything While Device is locked... (Galaxy Note 8)

Alright, so at first, google was working fine. while the phone was locked, screen off and it was in my pocket, I could say "Hey google, start a timer for 5 minutes" and it would confirm and start the timer.
Then I updated... and for a while it was saying "Sorry, I can't do that while the device is locked, go ahead and unlock the device". I followed about a dozen suggestions online and one of the suggestions (I'm still not sure which one) worked.
BUT: There's now this problem of: if the screen is off and I say "hey google, start a timer for 5 minutes": The screen will turn on and show the pattern unlock screen (as if it wants me to put in the pattern). If I leave it alone, the screen eventually turns off and google finally responds with "ok, starting the timer"... but then it never actually starts the timer until I pull the device out and unlock it.
Another strange thing is that it won't use the google assistant voice I selected (I selected a natural-sounding male voice but it still uses this robotic-sounding female voice).
I've been through countless forum posts, suggested fixes, have tried everything from restarting to the phone to clearing cache, uninstalling/reinstalling google assistant, changing security settings and even went as far as to factory reset the entire phone... nothing has worked so far. The problem I think is that all of those are solutions to problems that are SIMILAR to, but not exactly like, this. I'm wondering if anyone else has run into this specific problem and if you have: were you able to fix it? How?
It's just really annoying :/ This used to work so well. I used
PHP:
it for EVERYTHING. Now it doesn't really work at all unless I have my phone out and unlocked
Darn, it IS actually still telling me "actually, I can't do that while the device is locked. To keep going, go ahead and unlock the device". SO yeah... still just doesn't do anything at all if the device is locked. Only way I can get it to work is to uninstall all updates... but then it it reinstall those updates whenever I tell google play to update all. If I want to avoid that I guess I just have to go install updates individually/manually?... :/ This stinks. Just want my google assistant back to how it was working before (aka actually working - while the device is locked).
