Hi!!
Well I have a lot of questions about this 2 apps and SGS2
1.- SGS2 have 16gb of storage (less I think)
If I understand ok, When I use Link2sd; apk, data and other stuff moves to 2nd partition on external SD? or some things are still on the internal memory.
In case of Gameloft gamers or gps apps (for example ndrive), link2sd moves all data too?
Which are the main difference between link2sd and DirectoryBind?, What app do you use?:
Link2sd
DirectoryBind
android native app2sd
cheers.. and Thanks a lot

Hi,
I actually picked the S2 over the Sensation because of the slightly higher specs and the fact that phone has 16gb internal memory. Being new to android (switch from iPhone) I really don't get what device memory is and why it's filling up so fast. I have barely installed 5 tiny apps and already 140Mb out of the 1.97Gb has already been used. I installed loads of apps on my iPhone and I intend to do that same on my new one so could someone please explain this concept of device memory and what exactly is stored in there. Also, if I run out of device memory, how do I free it up or increase the 1.97Gb limit?
2GB /data rest as internal sd card, system partition, cache, etc.
You can move apps to sd card if the data partition is full.

Relax, there's plenty of space. I've more than 80 apps installed, and they uses 664MB, so around 240 apps before memory is filled up... Remember that large games like Gameloft games installs their main data on the 12GB partition. And there is also a possibility to move most of the apps to that area as well, but it is unlikely that you need that.
The 140MB used on your phone probably includes some pre-installed apps.
Phew! That's big relief... Thanks so much. Just one last small doubt, I realized that only some apps are allow to be moved to the SD card while others like facebook have the this option greyed out. Why is this exactly?
some apps have the ability to be moved to sd card while others dont due to the way they are built..
can use device internal memory to store app data?
guys is it possible to use the device internal memory (1.9gb) to store app data in absence of internal and external SD card? my camera/apps don't run in absence of the SD card any way to get around this by using the the device internal memory? ( i have 1.5gb free after installation of all the necessarily apps)
I have quite alot of big games installed on my phone and am already running out of space on the internal storage. Now my question is if there is some method to move certain folders to the extsdcard but making apps believe that they are still on the internal memory. I'm especially interested in moving my ezpdf library as it is several gigabytes big and doesn't really need the faster internal memory.
Help would be very appreciated
Edit:
I found this app:

satisfies all my needs
Is there anyway to move apps from internal memory to SD card? Games like NFS take up a huge amount of storage and I'm running out of space. :silly:

I used to use DirectoryBind on my Xperia ZL while it was on 4.1.2. It needs root and works perfectly. I'm sure it will work on your tablet as well but if you have upgraded to 4.2.2 then you will need another solution.
I just bought my Xperia Tablet Z and went with the 32GB model for exactly this reason. People recommended the 16GB version because you can add an SdCard anyway to compensate but they don't seem aware that games that have a big game data such as NFS, Spiderman, Batman + many others will suck that 16GB dry and cannot be moved easily to the SdCard even though many apps on the Play Store claim they can. Every app I tried was a fail except for DirectoryBind which can be found on XDA by searching a bit.
Good Luck!!
Thanks a lot!!! I used Directory Bind with my S2 - never thought it can be used with Tablet Z!!!

I did see a post on this or other forums about an app that also does move/link app's data (not apps themselves) to sd card but couldnt find it later, also couldnt find it on google play.
Can you guys help ?
I'ts important because even after moving all apps with links2sd on the archos gen8 tablet its enough that some app like facebook gathers 20mb more of data on the internal memory and the tablet becomes so slow that it's unusable. Android version is 2.2.something
Cache is not that problem it doesnt gather that quick and its easy to clean from all apps too.
Hi there! I have an Android based set top box and I'm looking for buying a sdcard so I could bring more space to it. The thing is I don't know which method should I use between apps2sd or external2internal so I have more space to install big games. Actually it has a little more than 5gb of internal memory, which is very poor if I want to install few games, emulators with its rooms etc.
Nobody? Up!
If your android version is grater than 2.1.x you could just go to settings->aplications and move the apps to the sd, if not you can use the apps2sd
It's apples and oranges. a2sd is very limited and only moves a part of the apk but not the other data of the app which takes up more space than the apk typically. External2internal does the whole SD card so you'll have as much storage as your card has space on it.

I was asking this because although I'm on 4.2 there's no a2sd support. Anyway, with apps2sd I was referring to Darktremor's script, which moves data to an external ext3/4 partition in sdcard, versus external2internal thing.
I've installed ext2int but I don't know how to configure it because I can't figure out internal mount point. I think it's using fuse.
