I have asked this same question in the dev section ...im waiting for an answer ....will inform you
you know you are rooted when you use XDA more than FB
Do you tried to install from Google PLay?
Install QuickPic, download Titanium Backup
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup
Press menu > Filters > type QuickPic > Apply > Backup/Restore > long click at QuickPic > Convert to system app > reboot
If you want to delete stock gallery app then find it in titanium backup and simply remove it, or do it with root explorer.
I'd say that it would be easiest with Titanium Backup, the instructions that Brajano95 gave should be accurate, you dont have to reboot though.
If you're gonna do it manually you will have to change the permission using eg. root explorer. Tap Mount R/W -> tap and hold -> permission -> rw-r--r--

Solution
Guys I know the solution. Just open the apk with winrar or 7zip. Then open lib/armeabi. Copy the file inside to system/lib. Dont forget to add quickpic apk to system/app and set the permission rw-r--r--
Dont forget to hit the thanks button. Thank you.

My camera app hasnt worked since 1.5.3 and it really bothers me that i keep getting a FC. I even did a factory reset with no luck so if anyone can send me the file that would be terrific!
you can always just extract it from one of DJ Steves .zips , thats what I did when I noticed mine was missing all of a sudden
Heres you go, place in system/app and set permission the same as other apps in /system
dont forget to my thanks button.

You have first remove old one and the install the app you have downloaded. Use titanium backup to remove old.

So in order to uninstall it with T.B. you have to hit backup and restore and scroll down to the camera app and uninstall? i did that and i uploaded the new .apk to my sd card and it wont let me uninstall from there. I tried moving it to system/app but it says "You cannot paste here because the file system is read-only" so i go to change the permissions of the .apk but the permissions wont save...
deleted my camera app a few days ago
in root explorer, go to root folder(back until you cant go back anymore),
press mount r/w, which mounts the system read/write,
then move the apk to system/app and set permissions the same as other apps in system/app
I set mine to read write execute for everyone
should be good to go after install if not reboot to be sure
also test cam and videocam and take a photo and video to test
let us know if this works

quite simple actually. glad I could help.
cheers.
Help please. I've been searching for days for the default font folder of the Galaxy S III at the internal sd card. Unfortunately I can't seem to find it. Is it really hidden by any chance? Same with the default folder for the S III Wallpapers ?
My phone is not rooted, everything is stock. I've heard of font changer but it requires root. Searching for a nonroot solution if it is possible.
Thank you for your patience and tolerance.
Fonts are in /system/fonts but you will not be able to acces to this folder without root
For wallpaper, there is no folder: there are in one of the apk from samsung which should be in /system/app but no access to this folder without root

Or you can use ES Explorer w/ root access, then go to /system/app/. Select 'secwallpaperchooser.apk' and extract all the files wherever you like using ESExplorer menu on the right (let's say SD card). You will find all the .jpg in Storage/ExtSdCard/res/drawable-xddpi folder.
Hope it'll help

First of all, to put it in /system/app, you're going to need to be rooted.
I use ES File Explorer, but you can use whatever you want. In any case, I'll write instructions for ES.
1. Go to ES's settings and then root settings and check "root explorer", "up to root", and "mount file system".
2. Navigate to your app wherever you saved it and long click > copy.
3. Navigate to /system/app and paste
4. Long click on the app you just pasted and go to properties
5. Click on the "change" button next to permissions
6. Set User: Read Write, Group: Read, Other: Read
7. Reboot your phone and hope for the best!
Note: The app still might not work as a system app.

Can you explain that? I attached the Permissions and Owner, but doesn't appear.
In root explorer find apk you want to move and long press then copy.
Navigate to system>apps and mount as r/w
Then if replacing existing application rename this to app.bak otherwise just paste the app
Change apps permissions to read:everyone write:user only execute no one then tap save. Then reboot your phone and everything should be good
Otherwise in titanium backup (a must have for custom rom users) long press on the app and tap convert to system app
I have htc explorer and i installed cm9 in it. I want to add facebook in rom. Tell me how can i add apps which are built in with rom.

paste the the facebook.apk in system/app/here and change the permission to rw-r-r
Make sure you are ROOTED.
For convenience I recommend install an app named ROOT EXPLORER.
*After installing, Download the Latest Facebook.apk extension file.
*Go to ROOT directory > then SYSTEM > then APP
*Paste your Facebook.apk file there.
*Long press on that Facebook.apk file and choose PERMISSIONS
*And Check as shown in figure.
Done

You are just modifying the current ROM, Not making the ROM.
If you over right with other ROM while flashing you will loose all the modified data.(like making a Facebook as an System App)
After completion I suggest take a backup of your device.
Edit: If you are getting error, then Move that Facebook file to your Memory Card. After that uninstall Facebook, make sure that FACEBOOK FILE IS NOT ANYWHERE IN YOUR DEVICE EXCEPT YOUR MEMORY CARD. If you find there exist any then Delete that.
Now you are clean, Move that FACEBOOK file from MEMORY CARD to SYSTEM>APP and move there.
After file gets moved, just click on it and choose INSTALL.
Done
