Something like this?

There is stuff like this around XDA.
If this is your first ROM, I would suggest building Cyanogenmod or AOSP to learn about the Android build tree first. You learn a lot more that way.

i want to port an android 2.3+ rom to a device that has only seen froyo. In order todo this tho, ive been told i need to either port a gingerbread radio img, create a kernel that runs on froyo and boots gingerbread, and some other shenanigans.
Can anyone point me to a source to help me out here or give me advice on such a project?

might get something cooked due to my impatience for this. read a lot of guides and such. what's good to use as a base? there's so many HTC devices to start with. any references, tips, tools would also be greatly appreciated
forget it. the guide i was using required a cm9 or aosp ics base which we don't have yet
Ive been digging how the Android OS works and I was thinking why is it that AOSP roms need a different kernel than you would use on a Sense ROM why cant you boot up Sense with a kernel from AOSP if at the end they are both the linux kernel ?
sorry if its a noob question I allready used google and couldnt find any concrete answers thanks in advance to anyone that wants to help me understand this
hello developers..have anyone been working on porting miui on our mini pros based upon stock gingerbread...
if non of us are working on it,,,i'd like to start porting it but being noob on creating roms i'd love your help to tutorials and resources..
i'd do testing if anyone is working on it.
Another useless thread... This isn't QnA, you aren't offering anything development-wise, and you can't see that there has been a port of the rom from ICS sources...

Hello guys, i've been trying to learn a lot of things on Android, and now my next step is to learn how to cook a rom, my idea is to port Miui, on the latest v5 version to an 4.4.4 CM11 Android, i wish to have help about this things, and the more i learn i may be able to provide help and works for other Atrix users.
I know this is a hard request, but i've really wanted to have a 4.4 Miui since i'm still stuck using the 4.2 and no newer kernel was released
