[Q] Help w Nook Auto Rooting System for Mac Please - Barnes & Noble Nook Tablet

Hi guys,
I will have you know I have done hours of work and scowering for answers... I am so close to having this done it is driving me bonkers... and right when I think I finally have it... another hiccup, with no luck finding anything.
I am using this procedure: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1383480
Initially, I had everything as it should be, and then, terminal would said that the sudo command did not exist. I realized I did not have the nook connected and in the right spot... trying to download the app and then clicking on package installer and having it connected. So... I tried that and I got parse error no matter which way I did. So I did a hard reset and wiped it clean to start over. Everything goes beautifully but now
"Click on the Package Installer, and then a prompt will pop up asking if you want change the settings to allow 3rd party apps.
*DO NOT ENABLE 3RD PARTY IF YOU WISH TO ACCESS ADB*
I am working on a way to have it enabled by default."
That prompt does not appear.... no prompt pops up asking me to change the settings to allow 3rd party, and then it takes me to screen asking me to install go launcher... no "press them both and accept the prompt."
I'm finally at a loss. Please help meh...!

Device administrator mode problem

Hi, i gave device administrator right to this app.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1213606
"This app works using the "Device administrator" mode, this means it works only on Android 2.2 and higher.
Also if you want to uninstall it you first have to disable the device admin mode, this can be done in the Android settings or in the app settings. If you don't disable device admin mode the uninstall will fail!"
That's exactly right, i wasn't able to uninstall it, but after i disabled the right inside the app, i was able to uninstall it. Now here comes my problem, for some reason the application is still active, asking for a password after i unlock my phone. The thing is, it's not accepting my password. (Before the uninstall part, it accepted my password). My question is, is there any way to "take back" the right from the app? Right now, i can't do anything with my phone.
Iam pretty much doomed. Reflashed my phone, wiped data/cache/darvik formated data/cache/system, installed LeoMar75 v2.5, but after the reboot, it's still asking for password. Anyone can help me?
maybe there is a cache/permission located on the sd? remove the sd and reboot the phone? thats really all i can think of that stayed the same...

[Q] Nooted Nook Color Lost Market Account

* Nooted with: ManualNooter 4.6.16
I have re-nooted my Nook Color several times now, it had been getting stuck in the re-boot cycle and then I found the conflict with the Adobe software, and those fixes worked great. I had been able to add a bunch of android apps, change the wallpaper, put on widgets and was thrilled with how it all was working even after many re-boots, but then all of a sudden, I went to the Market and it says "You must add an account to the device to continue. Do you want to add one now?" I press yes, and it just goes back to the home screen. I thought it may be permissions, so I went to ROM Manager, and it says: "You must root your phone for ROM Manager to function. Superuser was not found at "/system/bin/su or /system/xbin/su. Use Google Search on your computer to find instructions to root your phone" I click ok, then click to fix permissions and is says "an error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands" I thought I'd check to see of Nook Color Tools would help, but it has disappeared from my apps list. Now most of the widgets can't load, but the apps are working including the internet. I have no idea what happened. I'm hoping I don't need to re-noot it all again. Please help me. [email protected]

Have the exact same issue... Coby Kyros 7033 with no Google Play... Installed the latest and greatest download of Google Play successfully, but it just opens and then closes immediately.
What's the easiest way to get Google Play on a Coby Kyros 7033?
Google Play onto Kyros 7033
I purchased one of these tablets to play around with, and cannot install Google Play onto it either.
It will load, then it closes instantly!!
Any suggestions would be more than welcome!!
If I have posted this in the wrong area, please forgive me!!
Thank you!!
Google Play, Coby Kyros 7033 - No Root Needed
You can actually get the Android Market (precursor to the more current Play Store) on this device fairly quickly and without root. I just did this process on a friend's tablet today. He purchased it for his son for Christmas on Cyber-Monday.
The main problem, I think, is that many people are trying to install the latest Google Play APK file and it's just not supported on this device. You can get around this by installing the older Android Market.
Okay, before we begin... I'm going to assume you have everything stock and are using the stock browser for downloading the files attached to this message.
Additionally, I'm going to assume you have already created a Google GMail account and know your username and password. (You will need this to access the store later during setup, so if you don't have one yet... head over to Google and set one up.)
Finally, I'm going to assume you've first read this ENTIRE post before attempting anything.
DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible if this results in a bricked device. It shouldn't, however, because we are not modifying any essential items and we are not ROOT'ing the device. This is perfectly above-board.
---- START ----
1.) Download the files attached to this message and save them on your tablet. NOTE: This installs an older version of the Android Market, not the current Google Play store... but it still works.
Be aware, that the selection of apps is limited, but you can still work with it. For example, it does not have the original Angry Birds app. That's available in GetJar or Amazon Appstore however.
2.) Open the App list (by tapping the box made of little squares, mine was in the upper right hand corner of the tablet)
3.) Open ES File Explorer (or whatever you are using for a file manager)
4.) Open the folder where the .apk files are... if you are using the stock browser, the files will be in the "downloads" folder
5.) Run them in the following (very specific) order
**** IMPORTANT NOTE: Once you install the last file (com.android.vending) and click "Done", it will automatically launch the Market setup. DO NOT CONTINUE THE SETUP at this point!!! It will mess up the whole process. ****
a.) OneTimeInitializer.apk --> Click Done
b.) SetupWizard.apk --> Click Done
c.) GoogleServicesFramework-signed.apk --> Click Done
d.) com.android.vending.3.3.12.apk --> Click Done
**** Again, at this point... the Market setup will begin. Do not enter anything ****
6.) Press and hold the Power button to turn the tablet off. Yes, I know you just interrupted the setup process... but this step is needed so that all the apk's you just installed have been processed properly BEFORE running the setup sequence.
7.) Once you are sure it's completely off... Turn it back on
9.) After the initial Coby Kyros screen, you will see a menu with two options BEFORE it lands at the desktop...
*** Check the "Use this as default" box on the very bottom (it's very small).
*** Then select the option on top ("Launcher"). You do NOT want to run the "Setup Wizard".
10.) Make sure you are connected to an active Wi-Fi connection (open your browser and navigate to this forum to ensure it's working)
11.) Open the Apps list (by tapping the box made of little squares, again mine was in the upper right hand corner of the tablet)
12.) Tap on the "Android Market" icon in this list. It will be the default, ugly android APK icon.
13.) Select the option that you already have a GMail account
14.) Enter your GMail username and password... and continue
15.) In a few seconds, you should be able to access the Market.
If you want to redeem Google Play gift cards with this version of the Market/Play store... go here (http://play.google.com/redeem)
-------- END ---------
I hope this works for you as quickly as it worked for us. It only took about 15 minutes and my friend was able to purchase Minecraft Pocket Edition for his son to play on this device. We ran the game and verified it was working smoothly.
Cheers!!!
Followed every step... gets to where I can sign in or create a new google account. Log in with my current google account... get the status bar that says: Your Phone needs to communicate with Google Servers to set up your account... may take 5 min....
Fails every time... "Cannot establish a reliable data connection to the server" And it's not because I'm not on the internet, cause I'm sitting at usatoday.com to verify internet connectivity in the browser.

I don't have this tablet in front of me... I just helped my friend set it up.
That being said, this is a common problem for Android phones.
Here are a few things to try...
1. Try going to YouTube through the app and login with your gmail account.
2. Go to GMail app and add your account
3. Sign into Gmail account with your username and password
4. Go back through the login process
Alternately,
1. Go to settings, applications, manage applications, tap Google apps
2. Tap clear data, then okay
3. Try again.

Thank you, it worked, but... now that it is registered, instead of opening normaly, it says "loading", and then never gets out of that interface! Also, it always shows me a message saying "Unfortunately, android system has stopped".

Wow, that will take a little research. My first thought is to do a factory reset and start over.
I'll see what I can dig up.

You can try going to Google Play from a computer browser and logging in, picking a free app, and try sending it to your tablet from there. It should automatically download and install. That doesn't give you a working market you can browse on your tablet though.
From what I can find, it sounds like the market app version is not correct or is corrupted.
Please verify that you used the one included in my post above.
If so, try the following....
1. Settings -> Applications -> Market -> Force Stop, Clear Cache
2. Restart tablet and try Market
If still not working...
1. Settings -> Applications -> Market -> Force Stop, Clear Cache, Clear Data
2. Restart tablet and try Market... you'll probably have to login again
If still not working, factory reset the tablet and refer back to my original post. Make sure you don't try to login after install until you've reset the tablet. (Follow the steps exactly).
If still doesn't work, I'm stumped and I'm sorry. I hope one of these works.

No problem. I'm glad you got it working finally.
For some reason, the Coby Kyros tablets do not work well with Google Play.
They do work with the old Android Market (the apk for which, if anyone else is reading this thread, is a download in my first post).
Don't worry though, you'll still see all the "compatible" apps.
Between the Android Market and GetJar, you should be able to get most apps.
Best wishes.

Error
not able to install third pack
Re-download the files... Its most likely a corrupted download.
After after that... You are stuck....
You can wipe your device to factory stock and try again before you do anything to the tablet.
Best wishes

I've been scouring the references on this and the only thing I can suggest is trying this (different) framework package (see attachment). It's worked for a few other tablets, but I have no idea if it will work for you.
Beyond that, I'm completely stumped so I truly hope it works. I'm sorry I can't be of much help as I do not have the tablet to try this out (I was just helping a friend with his son's tablet and the original files worked flawlessly for us).
P.S. Did you do a complete factory reset on the device and attempt the process a second time? It may help if something got mis-installed during the original attempt.
From my research you start with a completely powered down tablet...
1. Turn on the tablet by pressing and holding the Power Button, Volume Down (-) and the Back Button
2. After a couple seconds you should see the android logo with instructions on formatting the tablet
(*). If that doesn't work, try pressing and releasing the power button, then pressing and holding the three buttons as soon as you see the Coby logo
Best regards!

Root coby mid 7033
Hi! I've got a challenge for you guys! It happens that I own a coby kyros mid7033-4 and I've tried so hard to root it. I have tried with superoneclick, bin4ry, unlock root (which actually says that supports my tablet but it tells me that it failed to shell root), and android root. This last one, android root, worked, but not properly. Some programs tell me my device is rooted but root check tells: Sorry! This device does not have a proper root access. Help me! I'm trying to root so that I can install google now on ics.

I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe you'll run across a solution. In the meantime, you can install the Amazon Appstore which has most of the same apps as the Google Play market. That was our back-up plan for my friend's tablet. He was insistent on getting Minecraft on it for his son.
Best of luck.

Moto E LTE stuck in "just a sec" screen of "SetupWizardTestActivity"

Moto E LTE stuck in "just a sec" screen of "SetupWizardTestActivity"
Moto E LTE stuck in "just a sec" screen of "SetupWizardTestActivity" :crying:
1) Any suggestion on how to cancel/escape this "first time init" application so that i can reach the settings and give the required permission to this app.
2) If above not possible then any other suggestion to get back phone in working condition without factory reset/wipe from recovery.
*Apps are still working in background , i am getting notification sound and pushbullet notification on desktop
*tried the cache cleaning from recovery. it took quite some time but after reboot also the stuck in same situation
*Completely stock phone. bootloader unlock and root not done. since bootloader unlock wipes the device i do not want to do it at the moment.
*I have installed moto usb drivers and SDK to execute adb but phone is not visible with 'adb devices' command.
* apps are excuting in background since i am getting pushbullet update of phone notifications on desktop browser but the first time setup app has captured the screen and does not alow any other activity from touchscreen.
* for some reason the Paytm app also runs at startup and runs on top of "SetupWizardTestActivity" app but only thing i can do is back soft button till it exits. cant open notification
Context and back story
I triggered the "home button not working, empty notification" of lollipop/marshmallow as detailed in the following post on my Moto E 2015 LTE surnia by trying to manage space by using the migrate data option in storage. it tried to perform migrate in opposite direction i.e. from sdcard to internal and ran out of space mid operation probably.
This issue is also reported here along with adb fix by koush

Nova launcher workaround if abd not available . 3rd last post at the bottom.
http://forums.androidcentral.com/moto-e-2015/673227-problems-marshmallow-moto-e2-any-help.html
After this the behavior was as specified in above issue posting. home button not working (i could reach home screen by using back key till all open application as closed.), empty notification drawer, not able to reach the quick shortcuts in notification area etc.
So I tried thought some space issue
A) so i installed a few apps and cleared data of chrome, play books etc. to free up 500mb.
still same home button issue
B) then i thought it is some notification permission issue and checked various options in notification option in setting.
still no change
C) then i thought some other permission issue. So in the apps option in setting i reset the apps permission to factory. (dont remember exact menu option but it was in the 3 dots option on top right in apps setting). it gave a warning that all permissions will be reset to factory for apps
after this all apps lost all permissions and everything was asking permission when app was started. e.g. data manager app wanted permission to access data, sms app wanted sms access and so on.
**This will be one main reason for my issue at the end.**
After that I searched the issue and found above link.
so i tried the guest user login and cancel from that and the notification drawer got recovered. it was showing app notifications for whatsapp, SMS etc.
but home soft button was still *not* working
Since i haven't done any bootloader unlock and root operation on this phone i was not confident of the adb command success since it mentioned in one post that it required 'su'
So i tried Nova launcher workaround to invoke 'SetupWizardTestActivity' and it did execute asking me for
Now the initial factory inti app is running and stuck in following loop
language->sim select-> wifi login-> \
/-----------------------------------|
->privacy option->|software update check->-\
|------------------------------------------|
|-> account added -> "just a sec" ---------^
it hangs and crashes at the saving "just a sec" screen and goes back to "Account added" screen
This is due to the permission issue i created in step "C" of permission reset explained above.
This issue is also reported here along with adb fix by koush

Please if someone can help with ideas and suggestions to kill the fitst time installation app. :fingers-crossed:
NOTE. im new to Moto E but have been playing around with my older phones samsung s2, lg g2 and changing roms and trying out various options like CM, AOKP res remix etc.
any ideas on how to unset the flag that causes this first time installation screen to run at bootup
so apparently the bootloader unlock requires us to have a "" toggle set from devleoper option.
but we dont have a phone booting into a state that allows this toggle to be selected then we cant unlock bootloader as well.
fastboot oem unlock XXXX
...
(bootloader) Check 'Allow OEM Unlock' in Developer Options.
FAILED (remote failure)
finished. total time: 0.011s
as explained in http://www.droid-life.com/2014/11/0...nable-oem-unlock-option-in-developer-options/
and http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-9/help/warning-locking-bootloader-disabling-t2951312
So if someone has an idea on how to cancel the flag i somehow enabled by executing 'SetupWizardTestActivity' from nova launcher wizard.
The wizard cant complete because it doesn't have permission and i cant give permission as it is not allowing me to enter into the phone setting.
Did you ever find a way aroudn this issue? I've just run into it too..

Lost the menu option to check software updates after removing Sprint bloatware

Hello, everyone. I removed plenty of bloatware from Sprint using ADB Shell. I checked a post about the LG G8 because of the annoying "Sprint activation" message everytime i restarted the phone. On that post, some users gave useful packages to remove to get rid of the bloatware, among them was the package com.lge.lgdmsclientspr that some user said was the responsible for the activation message. This was true, once I removed it, the message stopped. However, along with that, I lost the option to check software updates in the About Phone menu. Apparently, there's a package with a similar name com.lge.lgdmsclient that's responsible for the software updates. I did some searching and found the apk. I installed it successfully and I got back the option in the About Phone menu, but it doesn't work. When i press it, it tries to load something but nothing more. If I touch it again, a message appears telling me the app stopped working. I uninstalled it again, but I want to know if I can recover the menu option again without having to do a hard reset and having to tolerate the Sprint activation message each time I turn on the phone. Thanks in advance.

As far as I know there's a way to recover uninstalled apps via adb by using another adb command, you can do a Google search for this
For anyone seeing this at a later date, the command to reinstall apps removed with adb is
adb shell cmd package install-existing <package-name>
