[Q] - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Hello
I am dumbing stupid T mobile half G network in Lexington,KY
But I am torn apart between the original att Galaxy s2 i777 OR the skyrocket
Now I know somewhat the exynos cpu in i777 is a fantastic cpu so it might be a plus for i777...But for future LTE (I doubt it would be so near in my city) i727 is a future proof !!
Also concerned about some who say bad battery life with skyrocket because of no LTE on/off ability ...
Please you're opinion...I have no LTE in my city and it might not be the case in the very near future...
Galaxy S2 or Skyrockey ? which is better ? speed of phone ? speed of 4G ? camera ? general feel ?
Thanks

Please, PLEASE, use the forum search. SO MANY i777 vs. Skyrocket threads...
Look: http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php?searchid=11626028

Not to mention you didn't even title this thread, moron. Please stick with T-Mobile just so we don't have to see any more of your posts in here.

Rooting Galaxy S2?

Hi,
Ive owned a Galaxy S since launch and am pretty good with roms, firmwares, rooting, kernels etc.
But recently received my Galaxy S2. How does one go about rooting this phone? Any current methods... had a quick look on these forums, but not much available yet...
Can someone point me to the right direction?
Thanks in advance.

LOL we do indeed exist. It's not a lie (There's Chainfire too who rooted it, so you might have seen his stuff) The SGS II forum seems quite nice just now - not much needing done other than the odd thread move. You'll probably see me around a bit (if I get a GS2)

That sounds like a challenge =D I will try and make a couple of stickies in the next few days once we get some hard facts about the devices... Then a big announcement of "don't ask questions answered in the sticky".
Then people will ignore it

[Q] Samsung Android Upgrades

Looking to get a tablet and know I don't want an ipad, but do want a similar size screen. I'm leaning toward the Galaxy Tab 10.1. I currently have a Samsung Epic and have not been at all happy with the frequency of Android updates (we *just* got gingerbread OTA). Is it the same with the Galaxy Tab, or are the Epic upgrades slow because of the carrier (Sprint)? Sorry if this is a duplicate thread. I did a quick search but didn't find anything.
Samsung is rather slow. Asus was much faster in the past.
The Galaxy Tab will get ICS Update in Q1 2012, whatever that means Could be january, could be march. The good thing is, at least you're not carrierdepending (at least if you buy the WIFI version. but I think the 3G version isn't different).
The ipad and Galaxy Tab 10.1 do not have similar screen sizes. If that is what you want I suggest the Galaxy Tab 8.9 or 7.7

This is XDA, a forum for custom ROM devs and users. Nobody here (except some of the new folk who are afraid to root) cares how fast Samsung pushes updates.
Except this is the Q&A thread so the OP has a valid post IMHO.

Good of you to answer it then.
Here's an answer: Your question is subjective; some folks think that 6 months is fine, others think that we should have gotten it on the day it was announced. Here on XDA the vast majority of people will be running it long before the carrier releases it. Of course, there will be a few people here that will say "I don't want to root, when will the official update come?" and the rest of us will think "why are you here?"

Anyone has the HTC One X?

Hi,
I´ve been toying with the idea of getting the One X and I´m wondering if anyone here has it. I´ve had the GS1 and presently I have the GS2. I watch A LOT of video with it, so the display and multimedia capabilities are a huge deal for me. The GS2 does stellar on both. It plays any formart/codec you may throw at it natively (no need for special players) and there is no need to go on about its´ the mind blowing gorgeous super amoled screen.
Other than these 2 major concerns I´m wondering if you can really notice the benefits of the quad core processor on day to day activities. I´ve watched several benchmarks where the GS2 was not far behind.
So far i dont see why we need a quad core phone~ most apps even cant fully use the dual core phone~~
doesnt matter

Why isn´t this the relevant forum? I know many many people who own several high end smartphones and latest addition is not necessarily the main one. There may also be people here who bought the ONE X and decided to go back to the GS2.
I really don´t understand why people need to pollute threads with pointless comments that have nothing to do with what is being discussed.

i agree. A forum entited Samsung Galaxy SII Question and Answers is quite clearly the correct section to post a thread about the HTC One X
Its obvious, cant see why anyone would think otherwise

What is obvious is that you have a hard time interpreting what you read. Don´t have anything to say...don´t say say it.

I agree. Dual core is perfectly fine. I´m enticed by the screen size and the fact that it is supposed to be REALLY good. For this price range I could also go with the Skyrocket HD (slightly smaller screen BUT super amoled...dual core and expandable memory via micro sd card).

i read perfectly well, you it seems do not. At what point in your post are you asking a question or needing an answer about the Samsung Galaxy S II?
When they create a thread called "General Comparisons" I´ll post there. I´ve explained once that what I´m looking for it´s the opinion of GS2 users...which logically I should get HERE.
even though this forum is for the s2, its ok to have posts like this so we s2 users could discuss about a phone newer than ours
ive been edging about this phone since its a quad and a better screen, but the idea of no micro sd slot, fixed battery and 8mp camera isnt a winner for me, i need room for my CWM recoveries and a spare battery to use while the other is charging, i wouldnt care if the S2 had a better Ppi pixel density but 217 is too low for me in browsing.
its currently not worth upgrading, i dont think a quad will improve the experience on android yet

Again, I´m not interested in the general opinion, I´m interested in the opinion of GS users who moved to or from the One X.

Does the Galaxy Nexus now have the edge over the S2????

I am not asking this question based purely on the specs but more based on the specs and the world these phones live in. What i mean is, both are proven, good, reliable Android phones. But consider the price you would pay for an unlocked contract free handset on Ebay or somewhere. Availability off latest software and updates etc.
I was looking on Ebay UK and seems you could get a good example of either phone for around £250. Now i hate bloatware so rooting on the S2 is essential to remove any crap useless programmes.. stock market prices app as standard...!! do they think we are all rich stock market traders!!!
Galaxy Nexus is pretty much bloatware free and i actually now run the F1 Galaxy Nexus ROM on my S2 and i prefer it 5000% over any version of GB or ICS.
So seeing now that JellyBean 4.1 is available for Nexus phones and may/may not ever appear on the S2 and if it does it could take a while. Google Nexus phones seem to be getting their Google updates pretty much straight away, take these things into account....
Does anyone think the Nexus might currently have gained an edge over the S2, maybe even the S3 and the best Samsung Android phone currently available?

really... is that the intelligent replies that are going to be posted??? how disappointing...
well your worthless replies can be ignored seeing as you obviously couldn't be bothered to back up your answer with a few reasons why.
Worthless questions are doomed to get worthless answers. Specially when they are made in the wrong forum.
I think this beats both the Nexus & the S2.
(as the poster above me said, you deserve nonsensical answers because threads like this are stupid. They don't belong here. This isn't Sammobile or GSMArena).

S2 General Forum and you say that is the wrong one... a forum for 'general' discussion about the S2 phone. i think asking a question like i have counts as general and i am an S2 owner so i am asking from the point of view of an S2 owner.
So which would be the correct forum oh mighty forum god????
I didn't know you had a learning disability, my apologies.
On top of the general forum you will find a sticky reading:
***QUESTIONS BELONG IN Q&A!***
But hey dude, keep fighting the good fight and ignoring guidelines and rules, after all the whole world is here to serve you!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111
Okay I will tell you what I think about. My suggestion is, that more and more people want the newest Google experience. So they want the Galaxy Nexus. It´s a good device, but it has not the power off the Galaxy S 3. But you must ask, is it be needed? I think not! You can have a good OS without much power. Look at windows phone single processor and 512 MB of RAM and not so bad performance in many cases.
Some little points are very imported you may miss. The GN has no FM-Radio, "only" a 5 MP Camera and no SD Slot. So everybody can choose what is imported for yourself.
One point I miss... Do we need a update each time?

This isn't going anywhere we need to go.

new s3 user...

hello all,
i'm a new samsung user, just came over from "iphone hell"!!! i just wanted to know which are the better pages to read to understand how to root, and which roms are lighter, faster and provide better battery life?
btw, although i like all the information i see on this site, i HATE the idiotic image verification prompts, as most of the time you can't read what the letters are yourself!!!

Read the Sticky collections & FAQ in the Q&A section, that will give you anything you should know before rooting. After that try out different roms, no one can answer you what is the best one (and btw it is not allowed to ask).
Man you should have bought the s4 cause it was just released a few days ago

Some people say that s4 isnt as strong as it seems to be...I mean s3 still kicks ass and s4 may be out of his budget
