How does the situation with porting of HTC Sense to Galaxy Ace look like at the moment?
I can see that the phone is gaining popularity and hope that there soon will be someting like Sense interface for it. My wife wanted a phone with Sense interface but I said it is better to but Galaxy Ace than Wildfire and I promised that I will upload a custom rom with HTC Sense so now I am waiting for one. Hope to get one soon. Is there any rome that may be similar to HTC Sense?

The Samsung Galaxy Ace has almost the same hardware as the HTC Salsa (MSM7227T, Adreno 205, 512MB RAM and ROM). Has anyone tried porting the Salsa ROM to the Galaxy Ace?

To my knowledge, the Galaxy Ace has 512MB of RAM too, but only ~300MB usable. I assume that the Salsa will have less than 512MB of usable RAM too, since some RAM has to be allocated to the kernel/display driver etc.
Adreno 200 and 205 seem rather similar by name (the number increases by 5). Are these two GPUs radically different?
If they are, why not the Wildfire S? MSM7227 (non-Turbo), Adreno 200 GPU.
X8 already ported salsa's sense
There are only a handful of devs that work on SGA and I doubt very much that porting the Sense UI is at the top of their list of things to do. One of the first things I found out upon joining XDA...

If I have time in the following week I think I will try copying the whole Wildfire S/Salsa ROM to the Galaxy Ace and see how far it boots. Not likely to work (at all), but worth a shot.

Its not work in this way
Even porting stock rom is much difficult task
Even devs that tried to port not succesfully ported. They phased bugs like 3g not work,camera and fm not work and in some cases calling not works
But give it try if want but dont brick your phone
If you want sense sooooo much get cm7 then get the ntsense theme then get LP sense launcher then widgetlocker

LG Optimus One has HVGA resolution but Galaxy Y is QVGA
The Camera is only 2 MP while u got Optimus One with 3.15 MP....

Goodness of having that phone is:

also galaxy Y doest not have adreno gpu.......
but its ok to buy this phone because of its low cost
as its way better than any other phones available in the market as of now
And the,small 1200 mah battery will last u only a day or less...
in place of Galaxy Y i will advices Dell XCD 35 ..only 8.3k
The andreno 200 gpu of our o1 is missing in galaxy y ..
its resolution is 240*320 while o1 has 320*480,.
.The galaxy y has 133ppi (pixels per inch)while our lovable o1 has 180 ppi,
our o1 has a powerful 1500mah battery against 1200mah battery in gy..
Definitely cheap but I wouldn't go for it cos optimistic I available at some places for 9k..
However the most attractive feature of galaxy y is official 2.3.5,832mhz process with FLASH SUPPORT!

I agree, this is like a smaller Galaxy S rather than an upgraded Ace. Same CPU clock speed, same amount of RAM, same camera res, but with considerably worse TFT screen rather than the Super Amoled, not to mention pretty much the same res as before. GS is bigger too. It'd probably come out about the same price as the Ace last year, £200+, but you never know, prices of such smartphones may drop in price.
I do believe they are only releasing this phone as part of marketing. Most of teh market only know that this is an upgrade of the Ace, and not pretty much exactly th same as the Galaxy S, which very few people buy nowadays because Samsung simply don't market a 2 year old device.

Again, which is what the GS has, whether it'd be produced by Qualcomm or Samsung themselves, we do not know, but most likely Qualcomm.
Also, if it has similar specs to the GS, don't expect an ICS upgrade either.
yup and ace plus won't have much of dev support soon where S has lods of support from various points..

To be fair unless you move to hdmi why upgrade. Galaxy s, defy, zte blade2 and many others have better screens and are in the same price range. My defy cost me £100 witch is far less than an ace. And its got twice the power, maybe not on paper. But try a arm7 device and you'll see. Can't wait for a galaxy s2 tomorrow, dual core goodness!

The Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus has what you want ?

Sony ST21i reportedly rocks Android 4.0.3 ICS and is powered by a Qualcomm MSM7227 chipset with a single-core Snapdragon CPU clocked at 800 MHz and an Adreno 200 GPU - just like the one found in the Xperia X10 mini, X8, Galaxy Ace and others.
The Sony ST21i display is a 3.2-incher LCD of HVGA (320 x 480) resolution, but lacks the BRAVIA engine. A 3 MP camera that does VGA video recording is supposed to sit on the back of the compact droid.
There's no info on the pricing and availability of the smartphone just yet.

here galaxy w is selling like hot cake. when i'm at the shop earlier when picking my phone, got 3 separate customers asking for it :/
but its just popular among masses, not the geek. regular customer wont even know and dont care what the hell is gingerbread, ics, kernel etc. they just buy what is popular, what is showed by newspaper everyday. thats why galaxy w and y is doing well here

They say that hardware isn't enough for tw. That is just excuse not real fact.
Why tw is more demanding then AOKP or MIUI4 when it has less features.
I think that they don't care. That is a real reason.

definitely S3 will get some hardware and all dev support but really not needed for a mobile phone to sport 2GB RAM and a quadcore cpu..
just bombarding news and leaks in market is there strategy to make it look best..
i only picked samsung for sake of android as it have flooded market with many devices and got stupid ace.. at same price or even less i could have got a live , defy and much better one

I don't because Samsung developers blow it.
Hardware is excellent but in a year you may end up in situation having a hardware that can run newer updates but you wont get official support by Samsung.

But if the galaxy mini 2, receive jelly bean and in theory has the same processor, you can not take the drivers and other functional components to make jelly for the ace??

Why is it bad news for ace users? Nobody expected ace to get official jb, it didn't even get ics!
can't think of JB but atleast samsung should provide ICS Lite for Samsung Galaxy ACE........with some improved modification with battery life and kernel.

no they dont, they do care. ace got gb leak months before official. (and yes, in case u didnt know, ace first came default running froyo).
and they gives countless of gb stock upgrade. 2.3.3, 2.3.4, 2.3.5, 2.3.6, 2.3.7. but no ics since ace's hardware aren't good enought and thats understandable since no other armv6 devices got official ics.
also because of the lack of hardware, dev aren't really interested in ace.
be grateful that u got official cm7, official lewa, unofficial ics and jb now.
when i first got ace last year we waited three months to get first custom rom, and that too is just based on stock with mostly only ui/theme change with no much perfomance difference than stock rom.
and no custom kernel except for ketuts, with no oc at that time.

And if sammy hated ace then latest stock wouldn't be that better...it is better to have optimized os rather than buggy os...ics on sgs2 has been so awful that so many people complain.. Only thing that ics upgrade could be beneficial to me was chrome and and and it is never gonna be until i upgrade my phone

Unless google does something i may switch platform even if i love it...
if windows can port directx to wp8 then it will be blast for them..
the big Google themself don't want to cope up with condition on OS unless then get positive number of activations..
