Thanks to all the guys posting in this forum.
I finally managed to:
- unlock bootloader with the hardware trick (without loosing DRM?)
- upgrade from stock FW 335 to 368
- unroot device
so far i can help anyone having troubles with it
now i need to:
- install CM7.1 using rom manager, but the question is:
which is the Clockworkmod Recovery for the SK17? (it's not listed in the RM options).
Thanks for answering

people are reporting that menu LEDs are very bright. do you know if theres a way to reduce brightness or disable the light completely?
for what i know this the vol down at boot should trigger the Clockworkmod Recovery, but as I cannot install it it's obvious that we cannot see it...
inside update-cm-7.1.0-XperiaMiniPro-SK17i-signed.zip there is a boot.img but don't know how to handle it... :-/
is it that the file that should be flashed using fastboot?

yes, boot.img via fastboot.
the instructions are on the official CM thread. here's the post for Mini Pro. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16822404&postcount=4
so i must:
1: estract boot.img from update-cm-7.1.0-XperiaMiniPro-SK17i-signed.zip
2: flash via fastboot
3: put update-cm-7.1.0-XperiaMiniPro-SK17i-signed.zip on the sd card
4: trigger the recovery mode via vol down on boot
5: flash CM7.1?
right?

there are some issues. LEDs under menu keys are super bright, and some people are reporting vibration and keyboard layout issues. keyboard layout can be solved (theres a thread for it) and vibration could be due to not wiping data before applying CM. keyboard layout could be due it as well.
so basically, LEDs is the only known issue right now.

i have an unlock-able boot loader but have rooted.

now im stuck in a boot loop, i'm guesing it's because i'm on a stock ics rom.
my hardware is xperia s, rogers is my carrier, i'm rooted running ics.
is my fear of having to reinstall true? or is there another way to fix this?
thanks

Pvy.
Adb = fastboot=anytime..but Fastboot method? U cld try but I prefer reinstalling a fresh ftf..in dis way u won't have even da slightest possibility of error occlusion as ur SEUS didn't work either so I prefer, reflash. U can try by goin to fastboot mode and push ur system.sin file through adb..see If it works

If you re-flash then you will loose your root access but you can always gain it back. You just need to download the kernel (ICS/GB have different kernel) then flash it through fastboot. Though, if you want to keep ur stock kernel a.k.a ICS/GB kernel then u can do it too. Just let us know which one you want to do and we can guide u through :highfive:

this so sucks, i flashed gb instead of ics (i was on ics), so alot of force closes.:silly:
so i immediately flashed ics wiping the phone. now i have no root and the 3 step root is not working.
i guess i need to start all over right, go back to gb and then to ics?
i think i will now try another rom like XcreaM or maybe muiu..

U dont need to go over GB to get ICS!! u can just flash ICS and root it . Am using 6.1.A.2.45 Generic NL stock firmware with custom KA v6 kernel and both of them are working pretty nicely without any hitch so far. Anywayz, heres what you do if you have an unlocked bootloader. Dial *#*#7378423#*#* to check your Bootloader status
Flash Firmware:
#Download stock ICS Firmware from here as an ftf.zip file. (I recommend 6.1.A.2.45 Generic NL)
#Downlaod and install latest Flashtool, unzip the ftf file and save the ftf file over at the 'firmware' folder in Flashtool.
#Connect your phone via usb to pc and let flashtool recongnize it
#Click the Thunder button in flashtool and choose Flashmode.
#Choose the ftf file. Dont click or touch anything else. Hit OK
#The flashtool will ask you to disconnect your phone.
#Disconnect your phone from usb. Turn it off.
#Hold down Power+Volume Down and connect the phone via usb to the pc. Green led (flashmode) will light up.
#Flashtool will automatically start flashing the new firmware.
#After finished flashing the firmware. Take it off from the usb and Reboot.
#Let our phone boot then go to Settings>Developer Options>tick right USB debugging (MUST)
Click to collapse
U'll need the below fastboot binaries and ANY ONE kernel to root your ICS (Any one)
#Fastboot Binaries (MUST)
#Xperia SSpeed v6 1.89GHz (KERNEL) (Highly Recommended if u want overclocked CPU, am using it and its clear and totally bug free)
or
#Advanced Kernel Build 14 (KERNEL)
Click to collapse
HOW TO ROOT:
1st Step:
#Download 7zip
#Right click on the ftf file which you have just flashed.
#Choose 7zip > Open archive
#Select just the kernel.sin file
#Click extract and save the file anywhere in desktop.
#Unzip the kernel folder (xsspeed or advanced kernel) that you have downloaded. Copy the kernel.elf file.
#Unzip and open the FASTBOOT BINARY folder. Go to 'fastboot' folder and paste the kernel.elf file
#Turn of your phone.
#Press Power Button+Volume UP Key and connect your phone via usb to your pc. BLUE led will light up (fastboot mode)
#The fastboot folder opened. Click 'SHIFT+RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON'
#Choose 'OPEN COMMAND WINDOW HERE' and you will get windows command prompt.
#Type the following command to check if device is connected.
Code:
fastboot devices
#Now flash the kernel
Code:
fastboot flash boot kernel.elf
#Now reboot from fastboot mode
Code:
fastboot reboot
Click to collapse
After the reboot, your phone will be rooted and will use custom kernel :highfive:
GETTING BACK TO STOCK KERNEL WITH ROOT ACCESS:
#Open Flashtool
#Turn off your phone and get into fastboot mode (Power+Volume UP then connect the phone via usb to pc. Blue led will turn on)
#Click the Thunder button and choose FASTBOOT
#Click 'Select Kernel To Flash'
#Choose the kernel.sin file that you have extracted earlier from the ftf file and saved earlier in your desktop.
#Reboot.

Now your phone is rooted yet back to stock kernel
have fun :highfive: :highfive:
thanks for the guide.
now i'm back to ics and running Xcream (cool), with cwm & root. But without an unlocked boot-loader no extra tweaks for me. damn you rogers for locking my boot-loader.
so maybe you can help with a question. i have made a few themes for my older phones xperia x10, xperia play, htc raider, htc evo 3d. and really want to do the same for my xperia s.
now i have been reading and have the latest apk tool with the updates of apk tool jar and the aapt.exe.
i still can't recompile systemui.apk. and from what i'm reading you can't touch the framework res. now i'm use to using adb to push all my files to my phone.
so as the thread title said i was trying to change the font. and this caused a bootloop.
do you know of a guide or list of things we can tweak?
thanks

Can you look into this boot.img? After editing it with kitchen to support init.d scripts, ecc. I get a new JB boot.img that have 4.4mb, is this normal?
If yes, it can be used with 1.24 hboot, right?

Hmm... What did you modify? Im sure you removed something to make it that small And I think you should have modified it using ubuntu (well thats the only way that I know to be able to modify a kernel and I don't use kitchen that much too ) correct me if Im wrong hehe maybe it should work though That would be awesome hurrah for not wating for the OTA LOL
4.4mb is not small... the actual size of JB boot.img is 4423 KB (4.31MB).

But I didn't edit manually nothing so far. Kitchen extracted automatically kernel & ramdisk to add init.d support and than it repacked it but the final kernel is only 4.4mb.

It's the correct size of jb kernel. Just the recovery generate bigger with the backup. But it's need to be less then 4mb for 1.24 hboot. But if you really want to try the jb rom, there is a way. You forgot that we have two boot partiton.
1. Install the jb rom with recovery and do a factory reset.
2. Reboot too bootloader
3. Flash jb kernel to recovery partition: fastboot flash recovery boot.img
4. Reboot to recovery will boot to the jb rom.

recovery image is bigger than boot partition, so no
@atis112,
The thing you mentioned, nice trick. I'm thinking of testing JB using that method. Seems safe enough to me.
So is there a JB ROM or backup which i can flash??? What i see is this:
1. Flash your modified recovery,
2. Restore the JB NAND backup from someone.
3. Install the kernel to recovery partition, reboot to recovery from fastboot and just wait.
Is that right???

Just a bit correction: Use one of your ics recoverys! (You have the old partition table) And i think better if we made an installable zip from jb rom. And so:
Flash jb rom from your recovery
Wipe data and cache
Reboot to bootloader
Flash kernel to recovery partition
Reboot to recovery from bootloader
Enjoy the official jb rom
I think it's the only safe way to use JB without OTA update. You can reflash a recovery and go back to ics when you want.

7. install zip trought menu "install zip from sdcard"
8. busybox is included in zip and will be automatically installed
9. su binary is included but is compatible only with Superuser.apk!!! If you want to install SuperSu.apk you need to change su binary because curent su binary is compatible only with Superuser.apk !!!
10. install Superuser.apk from Playstore
11. you are done, reboot again your phone
Do not use flashtool for rooting! Do not use bin4ry for rooting! Do not install another busybox. I tested everything only by using methods from this OP, all other untested methods will be ignored and I will ignore you (and maybe stop all developments related to Xperia Go if you iratate me by your negative comments) if you not folowing current OP and if you report here bad things about boot image after not folowing me here! Our boot image is tested only on STOCK ROM AND NOT ON TWEAKED ROMS!!! DO NOT REPORT HERE ANYTHING IF YOU USE MODIFIED STOCK ROM!!!

Hi.
You need to unlock the bootloader before you use flashtool.
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
Read it carefully and follow the instructions. This will help you to unlock the bootloader.
After that you can use the flashtool, use fastboot mode then.
i just flashed boot.img but when i downloaded superuser and supersu it said that su binary is not found...so how is this boot.img prerooted?
Hi guys,I made a working recovery for Xperia sp and have tested by China users. Now I share you a English version of recovery
[How to use]
Unlock your bootloader
reboot your phone into fastboot mode
flash the kernel with fastboot.

So just a heads up here, i managed to test the CWM, it works! Just that i think people might find it hard to go into recovery mode. Have your phone TURNED OFF. HOLD VOLUME UP + POWER BUTTON at the same time. Once a blue flash and the first vibration occurs, you can now immediately release the POWER BUTTON. But keep holding onto the VOLUME UP BUTTON. Once the Boot logo shows up followed by the 2nd vibration, you can now immediately release the VOLUME UP BUTTON. You'll go into CWM Mode
Ok, just a little report. I just had 2 FCs now after installing it yesterday. Not a big issue to me. I'm guessing i should just fix permissions.

Ofcourse u need root acces.. And for now root is available only for Unlocked Bootloader..
Here it is
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2272741
Do at your own risk... But if u unlock ur bootloader means u will lost ur DRM key with Bravia Engine 2...
The SU binary and busybox seems to be installed incorrectly. There is no request for superuser access and many scripts have problems finding busybox. I have to flash a superuser zip and install busybox manually.
Thank you so much for this CWM! But i've few questions!!
I'm first gonna flash Extended Stock Kernel,Then my phone is rooted!!
Inorder to get CWM, i flash this kernel, does that mean, i will lose the essentials of the extended stock kernel (root+features)??

Just flash this kernel and there will be root and cwm. No need to flash other kernel. Only unlocked bootloader need.
After flashing install Superuser or SuperSU from market and update su binary.

cool Thanks! will give it a try
I re-flashed the stock kernel via flashtool and the .ftf, but now my phone refuses to charge turned off...is there any way to fix this?
Use the power off button at the back to make sure its turned off. Then try flashing again and rebooting...
