Hi there, I planning to buy a wifi-only 7" tablet, but the tablet support some external 3G/EVDO modem to connect to the internet. So, is there -by any chances- a way to make a call or send a sms via external modem?
I've seen this possible on "ipod to iphone conversion" with custom dialer and sms app...
App
I do not know ur tablet model do i do not know connections ect...
But if you look around there are some apps that let you send SMS's on your tablet that then sends it through the phone via the app on both devices
Look at TexTab, is is in google play/market, i have not tested it so i cannot guarantee it works/safe
Also you need to check then android market works with your tablet, the app is around £2 in UK
Most tablets cannot call or text by them self, only with a android phone

Not true. I have the Galxy S Player 4.0 and I have a messaging app called Heywire(which is in the market), and they give you a free phone number for messaging only.
I said most...whatsapp and other popular apps require a phone number

And Google Voice works just fine. That's all I ever used even on my Optimus phone.

That's true. Whatsapp for android needs a real mobile number, so it doesn't work on the Player. However, Whatsapp works in iPod touch (¬¬).
Flash Meticulus' rom R5 and you are able to use whatsapp.
If whtsapp cant confirm your mobile number, just ask for a callback to your phone number

I really really want to have Whatsapp on my Samsung Galaxy player 4.0 because on my smartphones in the past I have always had it and I have family all over the world.
Long story short, I made an account on 4shared, downloaded Whatsapp, and now it tells me that I cannot use it since I don't have a phone number.
How on earth do you ask for a callback? Is it just impossible to have Whatsapp on a phoneless smartphone (it's like an iTouch).
I emailed Whatsapp as well but they're having technical problems with their technical support (not sure I understand that).
Any advice?

Basically you need to have a hacked framework and give your Galaxy Player a faked device ID (IMEI no.). Then Whatsapp will think that it is a phone and let you get through the installation. The usual SMS verification will still fail because Galaxy Player is not really a phone. However, after the SMS failure, Whatsapp will offer you the callback option.
There are a number of custom ROMs for 5.0 have the hack but I am not sure about 4.0.
Klin's Klassic has a version with the deviceid hack but it's not the latest version... It's included in R3 but removed in all later versions

Hey Guys,
is there any way to run Whatsapp on my Galaxy S2 and iPhone4s at the same time?! Means i have a MultiSimCard, same number on both phones, i don't use both phones at the same time. If i use the Galaxy the iPhone is in Flightmode and reverse..
So any ideas how to do this? ATM everytime i switch the phone, i have to reinstall Whatsapp (Android) or reactivate (on iPhone).
Is there a cfg where the IMEI is in or how they knew everytime that it's another phone? cause the number is the same.
Thanks and regards
Hey there,
I know this thread is a little older, but i am having the same problem:
i got 2 android mobile devices (xperia p, xperia pro) and i would like them both run whatsapp.
is there a way to get this done?
my status:
xperia p with sim card, xperia pro (i got it 2day!) still without sim card. i connected xpro to my wifi, installed whatsapp and registered it, the activation code sms coming to my xperia p. i entered the code at the xperia pro interface. whatsapp disabled on xperia p and enabled on xperia pro...
my suggestion (pls correct me if i am false):
up until this very moment i have been thinking, that whatsapp uses simcard number and device ID to authenticate and log in at whatsapp servers. due to the fact that i can send messages over whatsapp without using the simcard over wifi from my xperia pro, wouldnt it be possible (somehow) that i pretended at the xperia pro that it was my "xperia p" so i could have it running simultaneously getting all messages copied to two phones?!
if this suggestion of solving the problem is wrong, pls correct me. any solution is welcome!
THANKS FOR HELP! :fingers-crossed:

Whatsapp uses your MAC adress. Untill you're unble to change that to the same on the two devices Whatsapp will not work on both of your devices on the same account. I myself am currently looking at ways to do that, I'll keep you all updated.

You need to have the mac address and the verification code of the first phone.
Then you have to spoof the macaddress on the second phone/tablet.
Install whatsapp on the second phone/tablet.
When asking for the verification code, use the one of the first phone.

Is this gonna work for you ?

Hi
I want to register my whatsapp to an international number, so what u need to do is take any new SIM card and mail me the number then I will register the number with whatsapp and you will receive a pin code through sms to activate whatsapp on the sim number u have given me , just tell me that number and I will activate my whatsapp , you and me should be online at same time so u can also tell me when will u be online
I can pay for This service plus the charge of a new SIM card
Please fell free to contact me if u have any questions
It can be any country SIM card
I want this ASAP thank you.

I believe this can be achieved with root access. Backup whatsapp with data using titanium backup or something similar. Restore on second phone with data. Use xprivacy to spoof the mac address on the second phone for whatsapp and launch.
I know that when backing up the app with data and then restoring with data you don't have to go through activation again. I just did that when moving from the galaxy s2 to s4.
No i want a diffrent number like from some other country

Hallo,
There is an office request and I know his iPad is incapable of
so I turned to my favorite forum for help
My boss needs a tablet that can control (view - accept - reject) calls and sms from his dual sim phone.
Is there any solution using an android tablet with his (nokia) phone?
Cat it work with a dual-sim android phone + android tablet?
The point is NOT to be distracted from the phone while working,
everything needs to be controlled by the tablet (phone held in pocket)
Thank you very much
it is important for me to find any solution available.
PS. I know there are dual-sim boxes to use with BT on tablet
but they require sim-cloning and turning off the mobile in order to work.
We need a seamless procedure, thus, using the phone as the call router.
no ideas?
The best android-related forum and no one bothered to reply?
nice.
You can check out Tablet Talk.
It's an app on the Play Store.

I found it just with a little Google searching.
Don't curse the forum.

Over the last couple of years I have enquired if its possible to link two Android phones via Bluetooth in order to use one as a `base station` so to speak and the other as a remote with the ability to make/receive calls, and have always been told NO. It has occurred to me that the Galaxy Gear is designed to do just this, so is it possible to extract the files that control telephony on the Gear and modify them to install onto a standard Android phone?
Try using Tablet Talk on the play store.

I have had Tablet Talk since it was first revealed on XDA, unfortunately its not the solution I am looking for as it requires a Bluetooth headset, I want my old Galaxy S2 to operate as a remote phone while my Galaxy S4 is connected to my external antenna (so therefore immobile).
Thanks anyway
Hello guys,
So, i just bought a Samsung Gear S for my HTC One, and yes i know this is not 100% fully working, but i'll get a Samsung Alpha in few months.
Well, i followed your tutoriels and guides, and nothing went as planned.
The most embarassing thing is that i can't acces the Samsung Gear Store : is this a normal thing ? Or did i just mess up somewhere ?
Surprinsingly, S Voice function works 100%. I can't control my music tho. And the phone calls works very fine.
So, do you guys have any idea how i could fix this store issue ? Cause i would like to install something like Opera Mini or some other apps.
Thank you for reading, and sorry for my poor english
You need a Samsung phone that you can pair with the Gear s in order access the Samsung app store to install apps on the watch.
Best to find a friend with a compatible phone , pair it with theirs, then add whatever apps you want.
Or go to an electronics store that has compatible phones on display and pair your watch with one of them if you can.

I have an HTC M8 too and tried the workaround. This caused various issues and a few things didn't work post install of the Gear Mgr. I wanted something better and needed access to the gear store. And the last thing I wanted was be forced to buy and use a Samsung phone.
This isn't for everybody, but here's my fix...
I just bought a cheapo Samsung Gear S compatible phone off eBay and turned it into a notification relay point. You can get one for as little as ~$70:
Plug in it, connect to Wi-Fi, download Gear Mgr, clone the apps/email (from HTC) you want Notifs from, and set it up to remotely send the chosen app's notifications. For your HTC's texts, there are a handful of SMS forwarding apps on Play that work great. One app allows for you to reply with the native mobile # just as if it came from your HTC. Last step, set your watch to be standalone.
Everything works, including S-voice.
Thanks a lot guys ! A friend of mine has à Galaxy Note 2, i think it will be fine !
I'll keep you in touch if anyone wants to know what happened next !

Could you explain this a bit more, please?
I have someone who would love to get the Gear S but is a hard core iPhone user. I guess he could get a cheapo Galaxy phone, connect it to Wifi at home, but I don't understand the clone part, and how the cheapo gets the HTC notifications.
Guessing it may not work at all with an iPhone, but still interested in understanding the process.
Samsung could have really tapped that market by releasing a Gear Manager app on the Apple app store, and advertised a bit more.
No one knows what's on my wrist, but once explained, a lot of people would be potential customers if only the friggin Galaxy phone wasn't a prerequisite.

What you need to do is basically put the same apps on the relay device as your daily driver. Sign in to each app and then go to the Gear Mgr and make sure that app has a check mark.
As far as email. Use the stock Samsung email app and/or GMail . Enter all of your account info and, again, make sure the Gear Mgr is set.
So basically, all your doing is taking a dummy S compatible phone and creating a clone of your phone's app and email configuration.
Not sure if the iStore has an app that will forward your texts...but, hopefully, they should. If not, Google voice is another way to go.
