ok, this a little weird...
i was using my phone today until the battery died. i put it on the charger (amber light appeared indicating charging). when i tried to turn my phone on, all i got was the initial HTC splash screen and then a blank screen. i tried multiple times, but i haven't been able to turn it on and have no idea wtf is wrong.
phone is rooted and running Revolution HD 1.1. i've never had problems before until today.
any suggestions or how i can fix this?

Unplug your phone and pull your battery.
Then plug it back in and let it charge until you see the green "fully charged' light.
Unplug it and try to turn it on.
Post back and let us know if anything's changed.
thanks i'm actually in the middle of trying that now. will update once fully charged.
Did you install a custom recovery, and if so what version? Xboarder fixed charging in 5.2.0 but not newer versions that I'm aware of. If that is the case then you will need to charge the battery enough to start the phone.

worse comes to worse, you can try this,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1336005
thanks to everyone who replied. quick update and additional details...
- i'm running ClockWorkMod Recovery 5.0.2.0
when i plugged in the usb cable to charge, the phone initially had a blinking amber light for a couple seconds and then switches to a solid amber light.
i left it like this while i slept only to wake up to a phone with no charge light at all. if it was charging, it would've either stayed solid amber light or solid green (indicating full charge).
so what other options do i have...?
it's gonna b a boring train commute to work this morning...
ClockWorkMod Recovery 5.0.2.0 is the bugged recovery , you prob have a old version this happened to me as well , i needed a replacement from t-mobile .
Try This : Here
or
1) Install Android-SDK
2) Navigate to c:\program-files(x86)\android\android-sdk\platform-tools
3) adb reboot bootloader
If it boot's into bootloader PM me & i'll give you furthur instruction
thanks for the suggestion Revolution, but i got it working...dunno how...maybe it was just dumb luck/chance.
when i got to work, i decided to try charging the phone again before heading over to the t-mobile store. connected to charger and showed solid amber light (no blinking light this time). after about 15 min on the charger, i was able to turn it on and had it boot into the home screen.
status shows that the battery is now charging. the Battery Calibration app initially showed 2%, but has slowly crept up to 5%.
btw - your sig shows "Project Nocturnal" for the Amaze 4G...where can i find more info about that rom? i googled and found it for the sidekick, but nothing else...

Glad it's working now.
It's not released and it's based on old firmware that had CIQ , i'll be working on a new version , for now try QuikSense : Here or BeastMod : Here and i'm glad your phone's working now .

waiting for xboarder to upload fixed camera and live wallpaper for QuikSense and Beastmod 2.0, but i'll be looking out for your rom in the future as well.
Kinda having the same problem...
I'm a noob...but, my phone did the same thing...after letting it charge all night, this is what I get:
Blank screen, the bottom icons light up and the computer can see the two "drives" of the phone but they are empty. I never see any flash screen or anything, but it does vibrate a couple times. Oh, and the battery light is solid green.
Any help ????
I sometimes have had the same problem but I noticed the phone is in clockmod and u have to use a flashlight to see the screen because it is all dark which would normally make u think the phone is off

Hello my desire x suddenly have stopped turning on, when on charger only red light comes on but thats all, i cannot get it to bootloader mode, there seems to be no life in it. Any suggestions ?
My red light does come on while charging, its the charging indicator lamp.
Sometimes I have to press quite hard to switch on.

Try a different charger/cable
Are you using the original cable? Most HTC phones will do that if the battery is completely dead, you have to let it charge with a charger that is the same or higher amperage than the one it came with. Once the light stops blinking, you should be good to turn it on.
When you say ended up dying, are you meaning it died once, or it died, you turned it back on to try and read a text or get a number till it died again, etc.
I'm asking for a valid reason not just picking on you. But Yeap make sure you're using the OEM stock HTC charger or another charger.
If that doesn't work try the computer. Whatever you do don't keep trying to turn it on until it actually starts charging.

I had this issue when I was softbricked. I hit the volume up button and it stayed on constant and charged so I could get to bootloader

i must have a pissed phone or no friends then lol
For me its the same, the color doesnt change while charging after gettin a notification.
You could try this app: "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ledblinker&feature=more_from_developer#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEwMiwiY29tLmxlZGJsaW5rZXIiXQ.." I'm not sure if it helps but you can give it a try
thanks
Good to know its not just my phone going loopy on its own
Thanks for the google play link
Offtopic: If your led blinks green-orange when you charge it may be a sign of battery overheat...it happened to me - your phone stops charging until it cools down
It just stays orange unroll carved but doesnot blink when I get a message
