Hello guys,
Well i am from Netherland first of all and I got a little problem over here i have a black S2 and was running 2.3.5 official firmware I9100XWKJ3 (netherland) downloaded from sammobile and flashed with Odin rooted with CF kernel, and my phone was working great! But now that 4.0.3 came out i downloaded it pda name
I9100XWLP7 also from sammobile and flashed with odin and using cf kernel again for the root. But now i noticed i can't call, send a sms or anything with internet all the other stuff do work at least well with wifi on ofcourse. I looked on forums saw some threads and telling to see if they had an imei so i went and look and found a generic imei starting with 0000049............ I have now no idea how i can use my phone again to call and so on. Is there anyone here who can help me? I don't know if it matters wich carrier i got but it is T-mobile.
Sincerely thanks!
Did you make a backup of your EFS folder?

yup but still that gives me the same generic imei and when i try to put an apn it wont appear on list and when i do find carrier he fins tmobile kpn and vodafone but i cant choose them gives an error
Hi,
Go to APN Settings, in APN type in "internet"
In username, type in "tmobile"
In password, type in "tmobile"
Try these without the inverted commas, I believe these are the APN settings for the Netherlands.

Yea it doesn't say that he doesnt find my sim card so i suppose it's okay and he shows the signal bar but no data
Well its definitely the APN settings then. I have never heard of them never being saved though. Why don't you just try re-flashing the XWLP7 ROM off sammobile.com again?
Don't root it straight after the re-flash, and if it still won't allow you to input APN settings, I suggest you go back to GB Sorry.

Went back to 2.3.5 and it works as normally so now trying 4.0.3 again without root report in a second
Just thinking, root doesn't have anything to do with APN settings, but it is worth trying the XWLP7 ROM without root to see if you can save your APN settings. Before you re-flash the ICS ROM, write down your APN settings to make sure that you enter them correctly this time Makes it easier.

Even with 2.3.5 i dont get anything at apn list but the data works xD
That is very strange. Can you bare with 2.3.5 then? Or try one of the ROM's in the Android Development thread? By the way, most of the ROMs in there are flashed in ClockworkMod Recovery, so you will need to re-root with Chainfire's CF-Root.
If the data doesn't work after flashing one of them, then I'm lost...
Chris.
Well on 4.0.3 without root it doesnt work neither. So now im thinking what if i go to 2.3.5 how can i get the offcial update through kies? maybe if i get it from kieis it does work

Your very welcome. Also, if you are on a stock ROM (your 2.3.5 ROM) and your are connected to Kies and it says you are on the latest version, either:
1. Try uninstalling and reinstalling Kies;
2. The ICS upgrade hasn't been released by T-Mobile NL yet, or in your country, but I believe most European countries have ICS now.
Chris.
P.S. Sorry I couldn't solve your problem, just never heard of APN settings not being saved, or APN settings not being there and your data still working! Confused!

Custom roms don't work for me either. It's just official 2.3.5 that works.
Could it be that cuz of having a generic imei i can not update it through kies?

YES + Rooted firmware + KIES updates genuine software with the correct codes matching .
In my view your require a service centre to sort out your missing IMEI .

I have rooted my phone months ago but this was the first time I flashed a new rom. now the internet does not work at all. Does anyone have any ideas? I already tried to reflash different roms, reset apn settings to default, reset to stock and even went to ATT store and got a new sim card. Its an international edition of the phone that used to work perfectley.
Your new rom probably doesn't have your apn so factory reset wont help. Google for them and enter them manually.
Could also be modem related. I have an i9100T from Telstra Australia. Every time I flash a new rom I reflash a T model modem and all is good again.

Hi mate,
first of all to be sure make a full wipe before flashing rom (again):
Go to CWM:
1) wipe data, factory reset
2) wipe cache partition
3) mount & storage > format
a) cache
b) system
c) data
4) advanced > wipe
a) dalvik cache
b) battery stats
Then flash rom and reboot.
If then doesn't connect by itself that isn't a fold from flash.
CHEERS ;-)

Google "APN settings >your_carrier_name<" and you'll most likely be fine. If you already have an APN be sure to enable it by clicking the circle next so it greens out ( may be confusing for people with only one APN )
tried changing the apn manually
I tried changing the APN settings manually but still no success. I will try re flashing now but I suspect the issue is somewhere else.
Try setting the network or what ever it is from GSM to GSM/WCDMA.
But you can make calls and send sms, right?

When making a new APN you should input APN name, proxy, port, and server fields really carefully, check once again if it's correct. If you can make calls , send sms , and use Wi-Fi then i seriously doubt it's a ROM problem
Search market for Tweakker as sets up APN just connect WIFI to get set up.

So I know you said you already re-entered your APN settings; what did you enter?
Are you using the "wap.cingular" APN, or the "phone" APN? If you're using the "phone" APN, what data plan are you on? If you are using the "phone" APN, and you are NOT on an unlimited "4G" plan, then you won't get data, and should use the "wap.cingular" APN.
I have tried literally ever apn setting i have found on this site, on other sites and the default ones.

Ok - are you sure you have an I9100, and not an I9100T or G or some other variant? You may have flashed a ROM intended for an I9100 when you don't actually have that model... If you have an I9100T, you may need to just flash a modem appropriate to that model. Unfortunately, I don't know where to get them.
Hey guys, I'm in desperate need of some assistance here.
I have an international Galaxy S3 i9300, rooted and with CWM.
I flashed Criskelos XXDLH8 ROM yesterday, and I followed the instructions to the dot.
The flash seemed to be problem free.
However, once the phone booted and i was on the new ROM, i tried to make a call, but I kept getting an error message saying "not registered on network".
I instantly freaked out, and wiped my phone+cache, and flashed stock Samsung ICS (XAALE8) via Odin.
The phone booted normally into the stock ICS. But instead of seeing signal bars on the status bar, all I can see now is just a circle with a line through it . :crying:
I did some research on the net, and didn't really find anything to help me, which is why I'm here, seeking ANY help from you guys.
I'm freaked out guys! Any assistance would be SO appreciated! thank you!

look up apn for your area.

My sim card works on my spare phone, so thats not the problem.. do u think it might be an issue with my sim card slot?
I mean, i didnt physically drop the phone or anything, this issue seems to have originated after flashing that custom ROM...

Are you sure the firmware is suitable for your model for your phone's factory? There are at least three regions of producing Galaxy S3 International version. Some final product made in Vietnam and Korea has a lot of problems and need to be changed to the board made in China due to software problem. You should try using the "Firmware Upgrade And Initialization" in the "Tools" in the Samsung KIES 2.5 because it will download the latest official firmware according to your model and serial number and it will wipe your phone at the same time.

It sounds very much like a locked phone that was unlocked in a suboptimal way
Unless you have the original EFS (on which you might try to do a cleaner unlock) you will be "condemned" to always need a patched modem.
The short story is that network locking is done in a protected/checksumed database in the EFS partition and some older unlocks were not even attempting to keep the database "clean" - they were forcing a flag there but since there was some other check at a later time you need a special "patch" in the GSM modem code - that is located in a different partition and might be a little different from one country/carrier to another. Unfortunately the modem is (usually) updated with major ROM updates, so you have now lost that patch - but you can take a look below for a fix:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1918601
The bottom line is that (unless you restore original EFS and do a very clean unlock) you will always have to re-apply the modem after you program a new full ROM!
THE PROBLEM
I have a problem with my phone where I can't receive or send text messages or phone calls however i still have signal and can use mobile data. The problem occured from a rom flash coming from Kalgecin's CM10 builds to Chameleon 1.2.
ATTEMPTS AT SOLVING
I have tried taking the phone back to stock ICS rom and re rooting but still have the same problem.
I have also contacted my provider's, T-Mobile, they have told me that everything is fine with my settings.
I have used my sim in another phone and my sim works
I have used a friends sim in my phone and it experiences the same problem.

I have yet to try flashing the stock T-Mobile firmware through Odin. I have also read that similar problems have occured with people whose CSC code has changed, could this be possible?

This flashing stock, did you do it through CWM or ODIN? If you have not tried ODIN yet I would go that route, could just be you need a stock modem.

i am such a tard.. i havent backed up the efs... i did so now after the mess ... i believe there must be someone with tips and a small hope, btw restoring efs make no difference at all, as dont have correct files.
The EFS is fine if you have IMEI, if you have only flashed each ROM once through ODIN you have hope. Try an ODIN flash again. Can you get to recovery to do full wipe first?
Try EFS Pro Here and download to your PC then run it. You will probably need to use your own wireless to get Busybox (free on Play Store) and run it on your phone - if the phone will not go to wireless, DL the files to your PC then copy BB over to the phone in Windows Explorer and run it on the phone.
Then run EFS Pro on your PC (with phone connected by USB, but it will prompt you) and there are a couple of options there to try to see if you can recover things. (NV Recovery and Repair NV Data) - I think the NV Recovery uses info on the phone (.bak file) while repair tries to rebuild the info.
Good luck. Maybe read through the thread first or contact the thread OP if you have questions about EFS Pro processes...

I don't think this will help with the Serial issue, but maybe for the service all you need is the APN/Service info from Vodaphone? Go to [Settings] [More Settings] [Mobile Networks] and check both Access Point Names and Network Operators.
I flashed a ROM and found I had problems so I went to a Telstra page, entered my phone number and it sent me a text with a security code - when I entered that it sent me an install that connected all my services again. Maybe Voda has similar? Or even just a page with APN info?

guys help me out... i am stucked ... any tips? i am willing to try "almost" everything to make it work.
Beyond what I know so far, sorry. If it was me I'd be making sure I have back-ups of everything I can think of (Data, System, Nandroid, EFS) then I would start from clean phone - wipe everything in recovery, factory reset etc. then load as close as possible to the original Stock for the phone. If that doesn't do it, with official stock and counters etc. I'd go to vendor and ask what gives. I'd start with the service provider and if they can't help, phone vendor, then failing that, Samsung.
Maybe some of the more experienced here can assist otherwise...

With the state of your phone now, if you were to reflash a rom between the two, you would have to flash the odex version because it will have everything stock, while the other deodexed one might have one or two things taken out, I believe.
How on earth do these things happen if you followed the steps, i dont get it

Could be a bug somewhere, development in this device is still very small and new.
@OP, reflash stock as suggested, might be lucky and get your details back.
i just flashed a stock rom, no luck.
still no imei. is there anything else I could do?
Not sure if this is possible but use someones efs img and inject your own imei inside it. i wonder if this would work

I tried doing that on my old device with no luck, but it may work for him.
I had the exact same issue, unfortunately I had no success, I ended up sending my phone back to Telstra and getting a replacement
I have the i9305T from Telstra and I made the mistake of trying to install CF-Root 6.4 for the standard i9300. Once I did that I soft bricked the phone. I have been able to download the Telstra ROM from SamFirmware and install it and be able to get the ROM up and running again. I have lost the ability to connect to the mobile network. I can still use the phone to full capacity and even connect to wifi. I haven't be able to work out a way to repair the mobile network connection.
Can you suggest any ideas?
Guys I have thought about something go into the Hidden Menu *#197328640# Option 5 says EFS sync... Click on this and see what happens, there are also other options all over the place go through the whole menu and see if you can manage to do something and let us know

cool, i'm just waiting to get hold of original Everything Everywhere UK ROM before I do that.
OK, i've triangleaway'd my flash counter.
so now my phone in download mode reads:
Odin mode
Product Name: GT-I9305
Custom Binary Download: No
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Custom
Now, it says samsung official as i used a foreign (to me) firmware from sammobile, i still want to change this to the everything everywhere ROM.
Why does system status still say custom? is it because i still have root? how do i remove it after i install the EE ROM?
The EE rom shouldn't add to the flash counter so i'll be OK to remove root then install it.

Try flashing the rom from this thread, then you can delete the super user apk.
