Hi All,
Can anyone provide me update.zip for changing keyboard. I am on MiniCM7 with nAa kernel. I need any keyboard or Sony Ericsson keyboard so that on-screen as well as physical keyboard should work fine. With android keyboard selected...one can not access special characters on physical keyboard with bottom right key named "Sym". Every time one has to change the default input for accessing symbols and special characters with physical keyboard.
There may be some thread regarding this but I am not able to get what to do.
Please help.
Thanks.

Hello,
I don't have access to the appropriate ROM thread. That's why I post here.
I upgraded from V17 to V21 recently and my last little bug that I can't resolve is the keyboard layout.
I also had this problem in V17 but I successfully used "mini Rom Manager" to change the layout.
Now in V21, mini Rom Manager (5.2) says my phone is not recognized.
Phone: U20i (now named mimmi. Reason for not beeing recognized ?)
ROM: GingerDX V.21
Kernel: ZombiePanic 1.63
Thanks for your help.
Tim
you can try KeyboardChanger

Great,
Did not see that app despite numerous searches.
Thanks sttugut for your help and madbulls for his app.

Um, it says to use Default Input, but there is no such input at all in GingerDX v21... How did you managed to do it properly?
The keyboard changer is a nice tool but how does it work my layout xml file is set right but when i change with this app it gives me one of the three specific swedish caracters, and the symbol button doesn't work. How should a keyprint.xml file be to work. I just wounder becuse it doesnt matters what i do it doesn't work. Sorry to hijack the tread but i can't post where i want to post this problem.

You can download the default keyboard in the first page of thread. Look at the extra modules for the line mentioning :"Optional for default keyboard".
Flash the file like if it's a rom (recovery mode) and you'll get the default keyboard (Stock keyboard).

hi there,
i have a big problem. i installed gingerDX v21. all worked fine with that. my only problem is, that i can't find a way to change the keyboard layout from qwerty to qwertz. i tried every possibility. in my keyprint.xml it's right said and also in my settings available to choose but it doesn't work. i tried the keyboard changer program, i tried to edit the .xml by my own and i also replaced the keyboard.xml with one i found here. i don't know what i can do else. any ideas? (it's available to choose german and qwertz in settings but it doesn't work in messages or whatsapp or anything else)
my keyprint.xml looks like:
keyprint name: QWERTZ
-->
<keyprint>
<script name="arabic"
keylayout="arabic"/>
<script name="cyrillic"
keylayout="cyrillic"/>
same with greek and hebrew and the last:
<script name="latin"
keylayout="qwertz"/>
</keyprint>
i solved this problem by using the .apk file. another unsolved question is how to get the german umlaute back? before i could press the butten down right and then o,a,u and got ö,ä,ü. is there any possibility to get this for gingerdx v21?

[SOLVED] SE Xperia X10 mini pro with GingerDX v21b - "Sym" key not working properly
I've looked for a solution o a similar question, but i think there isn't another post about this issue. It's my first post about a problem I can't solve, although I have used this ROM since version v009 (good job, devs!), because I fixed all other problems (e.g. keybord lights and notification leds) thanks to questions sent by others o tips found on forum.
This time, upgrading from a previous version of GingerDX for SE Xperia X10 mini pro (I think v013) to the newest v21b, the "Sym" key (that one on the right) doesn't work properly, but it just do the same action of the blue key on the left, whereas the "Sym" key should show the symbols menu on screen or the alternative characters (holding down the "Sym" key and typing a letter). I don't remember if this problem affected the previous versions, but I'm unable to solve it now. I tried to wipe cache and Davlik cache (in addition to factory reset) before re-flashing the ROM and I tried also to switch between the two keybords (Android and HTC) which are pre-installed, but nothing happens and the behaviour of the phisical keybord is the same, with no change.
Could anybody help me to solve my problem? I like this ROM so much so I don't want to change.
Thanks in advance and thanks a lot to the developers who worked on this ROM
P.S.: Sorry for my bad English.
I usually disable the 'android keyboard' and any other installed keyboards, ensure that 'default input' remains checked. Thats the only way I can find to keep the Sym key working as it should.

You need to download this file from atachments and flash it via CWM or xRecovery.
This is file from 1st post of rom that you are installed.
After you flash this file, you can select default input.

Don't worry, it doesn't affect your data Do a backup for security (it's always a good thing, but it is not necessary)

Hardware Keyboard LayoutsThis thread has as many as possible hardware keyboard layouts guaranteed to work on all Eclair,Froyo,Gingerbread and Ice Cream Sandwich ROMs
Tip : If you experience any kinds of problems,especially qwertz (thanks Resync ) Try disabling Android Keyboard (these zips are meant to work in Suquash Input Method (or Sony Ericsson).Flash the zip from here (only for Gingerbread) http://www.mediafire.com/?en33uttf3kckoys
11/5/12 Update : latin-on-cyrillic added
Keyboards made : French,Arabic (Azerty),Chinese,Greek(latin-on-greek),Japanese(I think),Thai,Brazillian/Portuguese,English Qwerty,Qwerty Norway ,Qwerty Sweden/Finland,Qwertz German,Cyrillic
They are flashable via ClockWorkMod Recovery.Everyone can use them.If you are using this in any ROM/theme pack/language transformation pack or whatever you are free to use them but you only have to do this little thing : refer to this thread!I edited the keyprint.xml and I made the zips.Also,the links are mine.I created a thread on the themes and apps section but not many people saw it.Then I thought that moving them to a new redesigned thread would be better for me to get more Thanks...and for people to see
Please press the "Thanks" button if you like my work.That means that you like it and as many thanks as I get,the more popular I get
ZIPs done!Uploading!
Uploaded!!!!
Trying qwertz one
Sent from my awesome x10 mini pro
(using nAa kernel & MiniCM7 by nAa)
Some may work only with default input
Sent from my U20i using XDA
If the layouts don't work on Android Keyboard for you,set it to Default Input (Sony Ericsson Standard) Then they will surely work

Hello everybody,
I'm sorry to bother you, but I look everywhere and I can't find an answer for my problem.
This morning I updraded my x10 mini pro to gingerdx v21b from gingerdx v17, and it worked very well except for the hard keyboard wich is qwerty and I need an azerty keyboard.
I first try the mini rom manager wich had worked fine for v17 but nothing changed.
Then I found a post in the development forum where I got a azerty.zip file to flash. But it doesn't do anything and I can't ask any question in that forum...
I don't know what to do now in order to have my keyboard in french...
Could anyone help me?
Thanks a lot.
After spending one all day searching everything I could find on the forum and testing everything, I finaly decided to go back to gingerdx v17 which I had backuped...
So I restored my old version with its hardkeyboard working in french and I copied all files in /system/usr/
Then I re-installed v21b and I moved the old /system/usr files in the new one...
It doesn't work... Still don't have a french hard keyboard...
Any idea ? anybody?
I really hope somebody will give me an idea because I'd like to keep this version, it's smooth and fast.
Thanks.

But with v21b it doesn't change anything...
I'm actually on a zombipanic kernel with gingerdx, do you think I can swich to MiniCM ? Do I have to change kernel?
Yeah you need to change kernel, check my signature if you want MiniCM7 (GingerBread 2.3.7).
But if you want MiniCM9 (ICS 4.0.4) check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1636501
I have founded how to do it. Try this TUT (maded by me, please hit thanks button).
