Hi all. I love the rom, Only one problem , It doesn't play all video codes like stock Samsung does. Like mkv and divx etc. Any work around to make those work again on an akop build? Thanks

If you made a nandroid backup with CWM.
download titanium backup.
Open TB.
Grant superuser permission.
Go to backup/restore.
Press menu button.
Go to extract from nandroid backup.
Find the stock roms video player.
Extract it and install.
If you have TB pro freeze resurrection video player.
If not backup then uninstall it.

i had the exact same problem. I tried to manage with the old video player's apk, but android refused to install. If you want, try mx video player from Google play. You won't absolutely miss the stock one.
And has all the codecs you want.

I am having 1080p xvid avi video. Earlier on stock it was playing great under hardware acceleration. Now on mx player this video is not playing in hw acceleration at all and on sw decoder some frames are skipped its not butter smooth as earlier. Is anybody able to solve this?

I put Videoplayer.apk from WXLP7 into the /system/apps and gave it permissions and still it wont show up in apps. :S maybe cuz WXLP7 is 4.0.3 and AOKP is 4.0.4?
If you can't get it to work or too tired of trying different workarounds and settings.. then just try other players until you find one that works.
I'll suggest: RockPlayer, VPlayer, yxplayer, Best VPlayer Pro, MoboPlayer - to start with

Here is a flash player i modded so we can stream videos from hulu on our 3vo.
This is for the people that don't pay for Hulu plus or wanna watch a flick that the Hulu plus app on the market says website viewing only (or somethin like that)
Instructions:
Download the modded flash player 11 from below.
Open titanium backup.
Highlight your flash player apk, click clear data first, then click uninstall.
***If you dont clear data from your existing flash player before you uninstall it this hack will not work******
Install the modded flash player you downloaded.
Either use the hulu app i provided or
Make sure the ua string is set to desktop on your browser and Go to hulu.com and enjoy!!!!!
(if it dont work on the first try just reboot and it should be good to go)
** the Hulu app I provide is not the Hulu plus app from the market....it is a custom app that streams directly from the Hulu website....I got it from the warm 2.2 ROM for the og evo...thanks to my man myn****
Flash player Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?7wep6t75udf4692
Hulu app Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?rbnsg5m4w2bgwm9
**This hack also works on my Galaxy tab 10.1 so feel free to try it on other android devices**
Thanks for the workaround.
Just so you know the Hulu app is available for the EVO 3D so there is no real need to go through all of this.

I thought the app is for hulu+ users only.
Comcastrated
Thanks, what's up bro?

That app on the market is for Hulu plus..not the one I provided.....the one i provided is a custom Hulu app from warm 2.2 on the og EVO..........also Hulu plus on the market is bull**** unless you pay for it and still a lot of videos can be seen by website only....

I assume that since I can't find a .apk file in either zip, that I need to flash this in recovery? I'm still a bit noob-ish.
Awesome worked for me thanks bro!!

No luck with hulu. I open it and nothing but a white screen. It's a real small download..is that right?
Edit: never mind I got it working...thanks

I followed the directions exactly on my MeanROM ICS Evo 3D, and now in both my 'Internet' app and the 'Hulu' app any flash on any web page including Hulu gives me the blue question mark box (missing plugin, I think is what that means).
Anybody know how I can get this to work, please??
Thanks a ton.
Very cool ... Thanks!
I've seen this elsewhere in the "android software & development" forum under "apps" ...re-post ?

I don't know about cameras in other roms but if you have a lot of HD videos, the camera will try to load them and cause a FC.
How i fixed this was to create a .nomedia file (you can google how to create one) in my video folder and use MOBO player (free from the market) as the video player. That way my camera is always sure to work no problems. Hope this helps.

Hi every one,
I wanted to know how i can disable/uninstall Atrix CM7.2 Stable Built in Video Player. The built in video player sucks big time and every time i click on youtube video its launches automatically and wont even play the video and close it self down. i have tried freezing gallery app to check but its not it so let me know if any one know which apk or app to uninstall/freeze will stop that little bugger to messing with me
Try cleaning up the video app settings. This could help you by enabling the choose app screen next time you open a video file.

There is no video app in my app drawer. and i have checked all apps using titanium and other app freezing applications.
Doesn't youtube videos use flash or the built in youtube app? Could it be that the current version of flash you have installed is what's causing the problem? Try downgrading or upgrading perhaps?
If you're having problems playing video files (.avi, .mkv, etc.) try using MX Player from playstore.
i have all those apps but thing is built in app wont let them play the content, it comes first auto and wont even play a dam thing
Google flash player APK 10.3. I don't have any YouTube problems (yet).

In the default video player when ever i play the video ( in vertical holding)in generally the video should align to the middle but mostly of the time(8 out of 10 times) it is aligning to the top .
I started observing this after the recent official update ,is there any solution for this ?, Does any one of you have the same issue ?
Try clearing the application data of the video player or download a better video player: MX Player.

MX Player is the best use it
Using an alternative video player isn't solving the issue though is it? MX Player solves the problem but doesn't look as polished as the stock player.
I've had the same problem as the OP since flashing different ROMs, it certainly wasn't a problem before. There is also the same problem with YouTube in portrait mode.
Have tried clearing data and factory reset but to no avail.
It is frustrating to say the least...

I also had the same problem. And I belIeve the camera app also had the same problem...I did fix the problem....flash the fastest Rom again and problem solved.
Have tried the latest stock ROM this morning and issue still present. It is however only present on AVI files, not mp4.

i love style of stock player but mxplayer is more powerfull
So this issue is in YouTube app, Camera app, Video Player app ... i guess it's related to root access ...

Any solution apart from installing a different ROM? Youtube gives me this problem. Quite annoying.
I recently broke my phone and had it repaired, now I can not play any videos using stock app, including videos record using my phone. Also you tube videos will play for a second then pixelate and say unable to play video. I've tried playing you tube from the browser, but still nothing. Now I can play my videos I record using v player, but I would like the others to work. Please help

Please tell us your current rom version ....and kernel please ...
It's nearly impossible to trouble shoot this problem without more information.
In addition ...are you rooted, if so have you fixed permissions for your apps, and is your YouTube apk the latest version ..
These problems can be troublesome, and I'm sorry for all of the questions, but it helps rule out the obvious problems first ...g
I'm not rooted, using stock ROM 4.0.4 ICS, kernel 3.0.8. Yes latest you tube apk
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda app-developers app
Try reverting your YouTube apk to the previous version in the play store ....by uninstalling the update ....
Then don't allow automatic updates ..
Also ...go into your player apk, and YouTube apk under the applications menu and wipe the cache and data for both apps ....then reboot to test ....g
