If you need a new screen, Samsung will replace it for 197$, which is currently cheaper than all of the digitizers out at the moment, mine was 2 weeks from my hands back to my hands

Saw a couple on ebay for 284.00 each. Prior to that, ebay again for the n7000 for 250.00. Otherwise, yes, send to Samdung for 197.00 and tehy fo the work too!

I saw the replacement glass on ebay for other models too but nothing for the SGH-I717 if any one gets a line on one please post it. I cant see spending about 200 to replace the whole thing from sasung and I cant see spending 200 deductable that att insurance has. if i knew the insurance deductable was 1/3 the cost of a new phone from att never opted for it.

I bought a white note...a day later I went to Att and bought a specks case per the sales Rep. They only had this and a flip case. Ok so I bought it because I'm moving to another state for work and wanted a case for the move. I bought the case on sat afternoon Sunday evening I was going to put my 32 g card in and I notice my phone is stained black. Wtf. The case bled into my back cover. I'm soo pissed. Plus the case is all scratched up and it hasnt been 24hrs yet. Now I'm trapped in a small town with no Att center around until i get to my new home. Don't buy this over price case....

Maybe they'll let you swap the back with a returned/defective white Note that they might have in the back in which they haven't sent back to the service center yet. Assuming they have any, of course.

btw just a tip, a alcohol prep helped get the paint transfer off on my white note, but i had ghost armor over mine. i would imagine it would work just as well on a row back
That's pretty bad after only one day. A lot of cases give me the same feeling. Some of the slim fit cases have a lot of dyes and are hard, rough plastic inside. You need a case from your case now.
Thanks guys for letting me vent. I honestly know its not then end of the world and there's an easy fix its just we pay so much money to these companies and then great people like the xda members makes them better and find work around to make them even better. Why aren't these companies doing that? We should get what we pay for. Ok I'm done venting ill just return it and get a new back.

They tried to sell me one of those when I got my note. I told them I would get a case later.
I have the same case.... I've had it for the past three months.... It has protected my phone past my expectations.... I removed my case and my phone has no scratches whatsoever.... I would rather scratch up my case than my 500 phone.... And believe me, case doesn't look pretty....

Is there any way to replace only the too glass? Or does the entire LCD/digitizer need to be replaced?

broke mine too just filed my claim with asurion and found out the deductible is up to 150 but its a lot better then another 600
Cheapest oem replacement kit I found was for $170 on eBay... I have insurance through radioshack that's only a $100 deductible so it looks like I'll be going that route. Thanks for the info guys.

Just wanted to know how much I can sell it for to get closer to the cost of getting the note II. How much would you guys sell it for. Its just the glass cracked everything else still works. Plus you can barely tell that its cracked besides the left side.

Screen repair is about $200 plus the hassle. So a note in good condition is about $300, I would pay $50 for it.

It's arm and a leg trying to replace just the glass and you risk damaging it even worse if you try it yourself with no experience. Not sure what a repair store would charge. But the assembly like stated above, is around $200. You can pick up a decent Note now for $200-250. I'd either keep it, or expect some extremely low offers. A cracked screen is a cracked screen regardless of how minute it may be.
Much to my surprise some kid offered me 185 fir my broken note so I just picked up the note 2 this morning! !!

I don't think insurance covers broken glass. I asked the guy at the AT&T repair center if insurance would have paid for my cracked glass and he said, "no".

that's why I didn't get the insurance, the only reason I'd get it is to get it replaced for free if I dropped it or somehow broke the screen...

Man that sucks. I have two notes. One is mine that I always use and its got a dead pixel. The other one has a cracked screen. Its barely cracked but still. I want to ditch them both and get a galaxy nexus or a note with no issues! Haha

Yea they are still selling for $200 fully operable with a cracked screen. Also samsung will replace it for the same price.

Its not worth fixing.
Unless I could get a screen cheap but still OEM quality.
For that 200 bucks ....your well on the way too a note 2.
I guess it just comes down to your particular situation.

thats why i never get at&t's insurance. i buy all my phones from Best Buy. for $10 a month they cover anything and everything. if you drop it, break the screen, pee on it, your dog chewed it....dont matter, they send it out for repair and you get another one. before i got the Note i had a Dell Streak that i got from Best Buy. i Broke the screen like 5 times and every time they just gave me another one - no questions asked.:good:

u can get OEM quality but OEM quality isnt cheap because its the LCD and the front glass
So I've had my dna for a week and a half when my screen shattered. Ironically enough the screen protectors I ordered came in 5 minutes later. I've been scavenging the Web but can't find any replacement screens. Does anyone know if they plan to sell them in the future or is there no hope? Also if anyone has/hears of a broken dna with functional screen I'd love to arrange a deal

its only a 100 deductible mine just broke so i have the same issue the phones worth eatting the cost just sucking i got to reunlock and all that **** cause im very happy with mine super fast and and will handle more then 1.8 ghz

I am also curious about this I have a spare DNA with a broken screen...

You do not want to attempt this without an LCD. The digitizer and LCD are fused. Skytrade on Alibaba sells both separately for about $150 total at the time of this post.
If you have only had it for a week and a half can't it be returned or replaced by Verizon? If you bought it there.

he would only be able to return it to verizon if:
1. there was nothing wrong with it and he just changed his mind(within 14 days)
2. it was defective in some way out-of-the-box.
since there's damage to the phone, he wouldn't be able to take it back. it could only be replaced "damaged" through insurance.
Anyone tried this yet? My wife's DNA just broke as well and so far the cheapest place taking them in and repairing it would be $300... anything around 100- 150 and I would be intrigued to do it myself... apparently she is not happy with my old Droid X....go figure ...
Just do insurance replacement for $99. You get brand spanking new phone with 2.04 if lucky maybe 1.15

I actually have a DNA taken apart at home right now and I'm waiting for a screen to come in. There are some companies on eBay that sell them from 130-200. Most of them ship from China so they will take a couple of weeks to get here, but its a lot cheaper then having HTC or Verizon do it. The instructions to take it apart on YouTube are where you'll want to start, and of you need the screen within a reasonable amount of time, then injured gadgets on eBay ships from the USA, but they are like 40 bucks more than the cheapest display. Just search "droid DNA assembly" on eBay and get whichever one you want.

Well I paid 134 for my screen, and haven't even used the phone yet. I got the parts from my step dad because his coworker dropped it and shattered the glass and LCD. He said if I could fix it, its mine, and now I just have to wait for the screen. I'm using my galaxy nexus right now and I love the phone, so I'm alright with waiting for the screen.

Just had mine fixed last week. Screen/LCD/labor was $265 with 99 day warranty. First time the screen touched the LCD and the bottom lights didn't work. Took it back the next day and they fixed it. Bottom lights still aren't right, but the screen touch was fixed. When I took it in originally, they told me they wouldn't do just the digitizer. They had tried before and couldn't get it to sit/seal correctly. Good luck with your replacement screen, and let it's know how it turns out.

I came from the GNEX to. The DNA stock or modified is worlds beyond the Gnex. You are going to love it!
I work for a wirelesszone and you can buy a insurance for a phone at any time 99.99 for the 2 years and 75.00 deductible so for a DNA replacement it would cost only 175 shipped with asurion you can only get it within the first 30 days

Yes, I have found the video on how to take it apart, even so the video I watched did not take the screen out. It seems in my case only the glass in the front of the phone is broken (since all functions on the phone still work and the LCD display looks okay) I have heard the the LCD and the digitizer are somehow heat fused together. Therefore the LCD with digitizer should be the way to go. But I have not pulled the trigger on the e-bay purchase. I'm very interested on how this goes for you.
By the way I can't get an insurance claim or phone the cheapest refurbished Verizon 4G phone would be $350 and they wouldn't even have the DNA as refurbished yet.

I cracked my screen a few weeks ago and I've been looking for a replacement. Nothing on eBay seems to be too decent plus they want 65%+ the cost of a new SGS2 for the screen and digitzer. Do any of you have a phone with a motherboard that gave up the ghost you'd be willing to sell me at a decent price?
I'm trying to hold on to this phone until something much better comes along (it sure as hell isn't the GS4) and I'd appreciate your help in keeping my older device trucking along.

You can get a used screen for 90 or new for 120 On eBay. Buy a screen, unlock it and sell it on eBay for 160+ when you get a new phone

This hasn't been my experience; every place by me (Atlanta) won't touch my screen because it's Samsung and they all hate the way the screen is attached to the digitizer. So I've resigned myself to just dealing with it. It's only noticeable at certain angles, but it runs straight across the screen.
