Hi there, I believe i have a GSM/UMTS razr since I live in europe and it works on GSM codec.. but RSD lite says it is a CDMA razr. I bought it from someone via internet and it came in french packaging. How is this possible? CDMA is not in use here and would not work with the GSM network?
Don't worry about that, it says CDMA for my Asia GSM Razr too.
I have been flashing with no issues at all.

It's not a RSD lite problem, but a missconfiguration of motorola drives. Unistall all moto software then reinstall motocast. After reconecting your razr it will be as umts_spyder again. Especially in ap fastboot menu
Had sane issue and no clue cane googlin' it
Thanks

Uninstalling all motorola software will actually remove drivers too. When you reintall motocast 1.29 all the drivers will be back and fixed.

I'm gonna try. SBF's are becoming the old standard however.
Seems like Motorola is starting to favor fastboot files over SBF.

Hi, dayworlker04~
Nice meet you.
I'm korean Razr user. Our build.id is "6.5.1-8_SDS-29_LE-58".
I'm glad to much. Because, our Razr's communication specifications is same.
I want to try a test for your fastboot.
But, we have no repair method from bootloop.
And we also have no SBF.
Is there any way to recover from bootloop?
If there is a way to recover, i have many things for try.
Thanks for your work.
Good Luck!

Thanks man! I have unlock code but I don't know how to find the enter box
Curious.. What benefits are there exactly to "unlocking" your phone? Using it on a different carrier? Can you do that with Verizon's Razr/Maxx?
Are there any idea ?
Put your new sim in (Non Verizon) and it should prompt for an unlock code
-If I change the rom, will it still be locked?
-if I change the kernel, still be locked?
-if I change the modem, still locked?
Thanks ;')
The Verizon Razr has no SIM lock and is therefore unlocked by default.
The new ICS leaks enable global use by default with foreign SIMs, no unlock code required.
Same for D4.
Well dunno about xt910, but my old SE X10 mini was unlocked...and I flashed CM7 on it and it was locked again... (maybe it wa a software unlock?)

So what you mean by Verizon Razr is XT912(CDMA) right or XT910(GSM)? If its unlocked by default, then why is it under Verizon anyway?
What I get here is:
-Cant use CDMA for international
-Flash to ICS is possible, and will unlock for international use
correct me if I'm wrong
Thank You

I live in Europe (only GSM carriers available in my country) and a friend of mine came with an XT912 from Verizon, bought in the US.
Since I can buy it at a bargain price, I am very interested in knowing if it can be unlocked via ICS update.
At the moment when a foreign SIMCARD is inserted the SIM CARD NOT VALID message appears.
Waiting for your reply.
TY,
Tiberiu
The message should say " This SIM card is from an unknown source!" and should be able to be dismissed and everything will work anyway.
There is no true SIM lock that requires a code based on the IMEI like a typical carrier locked GSM phone or previous VZW global capable phones have.
The ICS builds, once officially released, have global services enabled using the same string in the RF_BC_CONFIG_I NV Item that we have been using to enable GSM.
If you have a RAZR on 2.3.6 then you need to apply the NV edit to make it work.
If you flash to the latest leaked ICS build, it should all just work by default.
This only works for non US carriers for international GSM use.
There is still a separate lock on US GSM carriers that we need to find and disable if possible.
Hope this answers your questions.
Thanks man, indeed it says "This SIM card is from an unknown source!"
Hope I will get the phone soon and manage to unlock it successfully
Verizon announced an OTA yesterday that will enable GSM for Razr, Maxx and D4.
It will be unlocked.
Wait a few weeks.
Back with news: got the phone, did a factory data reset (just to check the rumors that some XT912 aren't able to factory reset successfully) and activated the phone via the 4 fingers trick at android screen.
@cellzealot - phone runs on Android 2.3.6, baseband version CDMA_N_04.07.012R LTEDC_U_07.1F.00.
Because I come from the iPhone scene and I'm afraid to screw something by updating to ICS I would like to try first enabling GSM function using RF_BC_CONFIG_I NV Item.
Tried doing a search but didn't find anything helpful so I kindly ask you to give me some hints in applying the patch.
Thanks in advance and kind regards!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1297714&page=3
Look at the bottom of that page for the last 2 posts by jimmydafish.
That explains how to use RadioComm to do the NV edit.
That is the fastest and easiest way to do it if you are willing to use proprietary service ware and have a PC with drivers installed etc.
If you want to use the zip files I made then you need to root the phone and install the Razr Bootstrap recovery and then run the zip file from there.
Thanks a lot, after a couple of failed attempts it worked like a charm!
So, if anyone tries on Win7 64bit - after installing RadioComm 11.12.2 you should install Motocast as well, otherwise drivers won't work.
I have one final question, since I read on other forums that users had no luck enabling GSM with ICS update : NV edit trick works also on ICS or just on GB?
Once again, many thanks!
Im no moto expert. My father has the razer and I want to unlock it for him, root and flash a ROM (JB most likely).
Problem is that he Is on the Cellcom (Carrier) rom now and before flashing I need to be on stock moto ics (also to check OTA).
Where can I find those SBF files of the GSM RAZR ?
Thanks !

I downloaded the current motorola usb drivers from motos website (version 2.5.4).
But when I switch to BP tools on this verizon moto e my pc still asks for "XT1528" software.
Does anyone know where I can get these so I can enable diag?
Thank you!

I have been searching this too, trying to get the GSM bands on my Verizon XT1528. This is first Verizon device and new to the CDMA/GSM and diag unlocking.
I bet you have already looked at:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mm2NKdXdHnc
not specifically for the Moto E but some of the tricks may be applicable. If you find how to get this to work, let us know.
I have a new moto e lying on my table for the last two weeks, I am willing to mess with it if somebody will guide me with the diag unlocking GSM radios in CDMA phone.

But I'm hoping to still get this to work on Sprint. Yes, I know I could buy the sprint version.
Does anyone else know about the xt1528 software to get diag mode working through the bp tools bootloader menu setting?
I have a Droid Razr Max Xt912 it was running official firmware and every thing was running fine , them I flashed C11.
Now the phone runs perfectly fine but the SIM not working.
The phone doesn't recognizes the sim and and shows no connection.
Is there any way to fix it , if not then how can I restore the official firmware.
