Its probably going to be close to twice as fast (granted you root/unlock bootloader and install a custom rom and all that jazz).
If you are buying it outright, sure, go for it. But if you are going to renew your contract to get the phone, I'd say don't get it. Don't want to get locked in for 18 months (?) while watching more powerful, better phones coming out, i.e. SGSIII, iPhone5, possibly Atrix III......
Edit: If you are going to keep it stock, don't get it.

Atrix is much better than galaxy s. It is worth it.

Definitely an upgrade from galaxy s. Only caution is miui is not fully operational yet, still needs drivers and a few tweaks.

If you are looking for a nice polished ROM, install Neutrino. That rom is a BEAST! and has great battery life!

[Q] Galaxy Nexus....get it or wait for ICS on the MoPho

Just wondering should I get the Galaxy Nexus which is really nice especially running ICS but I really love my MoPho ...what do you guys think? Should I wait for ICS on my MoPho or get the GN ?
Phone looks awesome but it wont drop until november. And its probably a vzw exclusive for the time being. They didnt comment much on carriers at the release.

There is no freaking way in hell I would do business with Verizon ever again, so that's an easy choice for me.

This. And as far as trying to build out the brand, it was a poor move to put this into the hands of Verizon the same day the Razr was announced. It sucks because of the fact that data is moving into the cloud, access $80 per 5 piece. I'll never go back to Verizon and the MoPho is a device I can stick with for awhile because the communications and GPS functioning on the device is great.

No right or wrong answer. If you want to go with Verizon in a month or 2, certainly they will make it easy to do so.

Ummm, probably because he wants some opinions and thoughts to help with his decision!!
im hearing a lot of speculation of sprint getting it mid q1 next year (just in time to announce their first LTE sites) at which point i will be selling my gf's soul to get one
(dont worry she doesnt actually have a soul.. )
I love everything about the Galaxy Nexus and am really tempted to upgrade. But two things threw me off:
- exclusive to Verizon. What the heck. What happened to the promise to be open and not stick to one carrier? That was just last year when they released the Nexus S!
- Likely to be CDMA only. As a student from Hong Kong that goes back every half year, I need my GSM connectivity on my Photon.
Now that Google bought Motorola, I have high hopes that they will bring ICS to Photon.

the international version is gsm and carrier unlocked, just the same as the previous nexus. if you are on tmo or att that version will work fine
verizon exclusive is only until sprint gets lte set up. sprint just bought a CRAPLOAD of iphones and is subsidzing them at a horrible cost to themselves. once they have the capital and lte networks up i expect to see a sprint version
*cries* Yeah and I wish they hadn't done so now they are so cash strapped it'll be a while before we see improvements around here? :/

It will most likely come to the photon one way or another so I'm going to patiently wait. By the time there will be any talk of ICS on our photons we'll be dabbling in sweet sweet CM7.

I was asking everyone for their opinions just to get some idea of what I should do...I would wait for sprint to get the device because I used to work for Verizon and they are full of **** over there but I am not sure about the devices as a whole...things have been moving really slow over here and I give much thanks and props to the guys that have been developing over here but I am used to flashing at will without all of the problems with 4g wifi etc...I get bored easily so I am already looking for my next device but when I can flash at will it keeps my current device fresh and new for me and I don't get bored with it as fast....if I can get ICS in the next couple of Weeks thru a leak our something I will be good until upgrade time I guess
Motorola is probably working on it but a release of ics won't be until march April maybe.. It won't come overnight but in time...

Though ICS is looking dam good on Galaxy Nexus keep in mind that Samsung is not good with updates. So,if there is any bug in initial release only God can help you.
For example Samsung Infuse released with froyo and Samsung almost forgot about this phone.

[Q] To get the SGSII?

So what is everyone's thoughts on the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II? I currently have a Moto Atrix 1 and unfortunately just cracked my screen so I am looking to get an upgrade.
I was originally hoping to get the Galaxy Nexus but it looks like, at least from the rumors, that an LTE version won't be available for a very long time.
How does the Galaxy S II compare to the Atrix 2 and some of the other phones that AT&T has?
Thanks.
There is already a few threads like it but I won't flame ya. I have owned the Atrix 1 and 2. By far the S2 is the best smart phone I have owned! It puts the other ones to shame..

best phone i've ever had.
It's a terrible phone. It killed my brother and is the leading cause of indigestion in men 18 years and older.
Also, this phone has a unique feature where upon you enter your email address, the phone links directly to your soul, so that you can never replace it with another one for fear of death. DON'T GET IT! LISTEN TO ME! IT WON'T BE LONG BEFORE THE MODS COME TO SHUT THE WHISTLEBLOWER UP! RUN!

thankz so much! I am saved!!
As an advanced phone, the I777 and its international brother, the I9100, are some of the most likely phones on the market to become self-aware and launch a nuclear attack on mankind.
After that, only John Connor will be able to save us.
If you get the I727 (Skyrocket), the machines will have no chance. They will run out of battery or self destruct long before they become a danger to humanity.

Best phone I've owned. Only complaint: screen resolution. But that's not really that much of an issue.
This phone sucks! 4 reasons not to get this phone:
1. Way too smooth, am I the only one that like the occasional lag?
2. Way too many ROMs to choose from, and that's not including all the ROMs form the international I9100 version. Who wants choices anyways?
3. I hate that people on this forum are so helpful. After a soft brick you should have the rights to feel like the world has ended for at least a couple hours right?
4. And finally you should not get this phone because it's going to get Ice Cream in a few weeks.

Questions before purchasing

1. Is the Rezound worth $275 with some minor cosmetic nicks?
2. Is it completely rootable, s-off, unlockable, and SuperCID?
3. Is the development for the device satisfactory?
1. Off contract, probably worth it.
2. Rootable and unlockable. No s-off, yet. S/B coming soon though.
3. Developers have done an excellent job so far. Still waiting for kernel source and an official OTA for ICS.
thanks, man.

I'm a former Motorola fan, and I have to say-definitely. The screen finally doesn't use PenTile. Even the GNexus uses Pentile. It ruins your smartphone screen. Plus this device being HTC, it doesn't have the Motorola charging bug where the screeen jumps around. That bug has been in all Moto phones since the OG Droid-poor shielding or something. It's very snappy and has good dev support as well.

I'm hoping to still get several more months, maybe a year, out of my Vibrant, so that's TBD right now. But if it died on me today I'd pick up a Galaxy Nexus since they're (relatively) cheap without a contract.
S III. Going to get an upgrade on October, so might as well, unless a better phone comes out during then (not planning to get an iPhone any time in the future.)

Same!
My 2 years are officially up in August. I'm hoping there will be some sort of leak for the next Nexus phone because I'm not blown away with the S3. :/
I think I could get another 6-8 months out of my phone but I'd rather upgrade to a phone that actually allows me to get 4G data and fully functional GPS.
Next iPhone
One x
Note 2
Or one of the next Nexus phones.
I'm waiting for the padfone myself.
Already have the GSM Nexus, but I switch off every other day with my Vibe. I just love the Vibe!

So far, I love everything about it. Especially the lack of bugs (and abundance of features) in AOSP based roms and kernels!

I'm curious what it is about the Vibrant that you like over the Nexus that keeps you going back to it? Been looking at the Nexus, but still really satisfied with my Vibrant and don't want to invest in a phone that's not a significant upgrade.
Got a one s. I thought the lack of removable battery and no sd card slot would kill it, but I don't see it bothering me much. Galaxy s 3 would have been my choice but I heard its gonna be watered down anyway.
Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
Sounds like most of you are going for either the Galaxy SIII or the Galaxy Nexus.
My only worry in this regard is the screens.
The screen is what draws you to the device and Super AMOLED HD screens (minus the plus) just don't do it for me.
But yeah my phone is just dying. So glad I didn't keep that Moto Cliq around though... THAT would be a nightmare.
___
So I guess you've decided it for me!
I'm going with Samsung again and getting a Galaxy SIII!
Snapdragon S4 processor is ok,
2GB RAM will put me in a haze,
Let's just hope battery life better than the Vibrant's graze.

[Q] Is the Galaxy Nexus Still Relevant?

So I'm getting ready to upgrade to a Galaxy Nexus for Verizon. Buying from Gazelle, and putting it on V's Prepaid service. I'm right now using a Coolpad Quattro 4G, and am not impressed at all. So my question is, is the GNEX still relevant? By this I mean, am I going to love this phone as much as I hope? I have read some really great things about it, and can't wait to hear what you guys think!
Its a 2011 phone, so probably not.

Depends on what you want. It will definitely work well, while still getting updates from Google, but obviously the specs are not high end. Should be able to find one pretty cheap though

I loved my galaxy nexus when I had it... a year and a half ago. I'm on to the Nexus 4 now, which won't last much longer till the next Nexus.
It's an outdated phone, but still an "upgrade" if you will say, from what you have. If you are thinking of getting one, buy it used on eBay or Swappa to avoid contract issues with Verizon. I was stuck paying early termination fees last year when I left Verizon for T-Mobile.
For the record, I still have my gsm gnex. It runs 4.3 like a champ.
