On certain roms my keyboard seems to stop working with certain letters. This happens no matter what keyboard I use and what rom type I use. ICS, AOSP GB, Sense. It all does it. I have to reboot but it'll come back with a different letter or number. Anyone else experience this or have a fix?
Same thing here. I figured it was because I'm running a prettybold miui..nothing out there really worth trying so I haven't bothered. It happens when I text, random keys just stop working...I usually just the word wrong so I can choose it from the suggestion box..but its it's annoying

Hope it's not your screen doing it.. Have you tried a stock rom just to make sure it wasn't custom rom related.
yep. any rom. stock ruu or anything. it only happens when typing. the spot on the screen will work anywhere else. and the spot that doesnt work changes often

I've been having some keyboard issues for a while now and it's really starting to bug me. I'm currently on BAMF 2.1, but I've used various iterations of BAMF and I was even experiencing the same problem on CM7. Whenever I install a new ROM I do a complete wipe 3x and lately I haven't even been restoring data on my apps.
When typing, certain letters just don't work. It's really odd. I can sit there and tap tap tap away, and it may take like 6 taps to get a letter to work. At first I thought it was my screen, but I experience NO issues with the screen anywhere else but typing. The fact that what letters don't work often change (both in landscape AND portrait) also makes me think that it's not the screen.
I'm currently using Smart Keyboard Pro with a DX skin (had a DX before this and loved the keyboard), but I've even switched to the market version of the GB keyboard and experienced the same problem.
Edit: I forgot to mention that it doesn't always happen. I could go half a day with no issues, but then it pops up and it's pretty persistent.
Does anyone have any ideas? It's really starting to become a problem.
I have experienced maybe something similar. Since I flashed gingerbread ( my keyboard sometimes locks up. There's usually a delay of 3 seconds before it picks up. I'm using swift but it has happened on swype and the stock keyboard.
Happens to me, exact same problem but it also happened on my inc so I'm not too worried lol it IS annoying but doesn't last for an extended amount of time

I am running bionix nextgen v2, and It was working fine for the first few weeks and now I seem to be getting a problem where I cannot type anything, switching back and forth between the two keyboards does not help. The only thing that temporarily fixes the problem is restarting my phone. I can touch the letters and it will act like im typing it, even giving me word choices, but the word will not show up even if i use voice to text it will not show the words. Does anybody have a permanent fix for this or has had this problem before?

Try going into Settings>Applications>Application Management, click on "all" find your keyboards in there and clear data for each one, restart and see if that works.
I have tried what you said but the problem still occurs after some time after restart, also I have tried new keyboards but it seems that the words will not show up anywhere when I type them even for searching the web. And I know the keys are working because it still pops up as if I had pressed a letter
save everything and go to CWM and do a factory reset
I am having this issue... I can be typing along in swiftkey, thumb keyboard or the built in key board and after awhile the process of keying just goes crazy. I will hit a particular key like say n and all of a sudden 5 or 6 other random letters will show up. Or some spaces or some punctation marks or numbers. And once that starts it is hard to stop it. Every word I try to write just shows up as all kinds of crazy letters.
Anybody else experience this?
Not on my flyer, but my N1 will sometimes freak out and misregister key presses. Turning the screen off and back on seems to fix it though.

I use swiftkey and have never seen this problem. Have you tried the stock keyboard? does the problem occur there?
Problem can occur with stock keyboard or swiftkey. I am having a dog of a time typing this. It seems to be a function of typing for a long time.
I know this thread is old, but i am having the exact same problem and i dont know what its causing it. Do you think it might be the touchscreen itself? Or maybe the keyboard app? A custom rom would solve the problem? Is it a faulty device, or a characteristic of all the devices and there is nothing to be done about it?

since i tried the 2.3.5 androidmeda(i think it started there) i have a problem answering my phone.
when someone call me i can slide it right in order to answer, the phone stop the ringtone like i answered but i cant hear anything hile the other side think someone answered him as he doesn't hear the tome anymore.
i tried to go back to KG5 but i cant get rid of it.
it got better as i changed the modem(used to be on KI4) to KE4 and KG5(the rom im with right now but its not good.i can answer but it takes 5-10 seconds before i see the call screen and able to talk properly.
tryied androidmeda,cognition,batista,xpower(the used to be),villain and so. none helped so i guess its not ROM related exactly.
Maybe some data was changed (such as the opening after trying androidmeda-the white turning cube and the android character insted of the samsung s 2 pic).
i tried various MODEMS in order to solve it but no progress yet.
anyone familiar with this problem?anyway to solve it?
Sounds like a hardware problem more than a rom problem. You have tried all them custom roms do its quite odd. Id say trying to go back to a full stock rom if you haddent already and maybe test out other voice features on the phone like voice record and the google voice search thing.

I have a problem with Rooms 4.0.3 the problem is the lack of a menu, when you close the phone it will not go into sleep mode
it's always open.

Every time someone writes room instead of ROM, several kittens die.
He probably needs to have a search for "keystr".
That's Swype problem, have to edit every single time to make it ROM, now it understands and gives me ROM option but always writes room.
If I could I would delete the room lol
