I tried to freeze the Voice Commands app, but the double tap feature still works. How do i remove this feature?
Thanks in advanced.

I have uninstalled Voice Commands and have no longer problems with this..
Used Super Manager for this.

Hello guys! I'm currently using Handcent but I just don't like how the default Messaging app is always on. Is it possible to remove the default since I have Handcent or it is needed for Handcent to work? Handcent is not a standalone messaging app?
If your talking about the notification on the status bar, you can turn the stock messaging app's notifications off by pressing menu in the app>settings>scroll down to notification settings and uncheck the first option.
If you want to uninstall the stock completely, you would have to do it through titanium backup.
Hope that helps!

Uhm, I'm not bothered by the double notifications but the stock messaging app. Without that, would I still be able to use the sms feature only using Handcent? Or is it dependent on the stock?
Why not make a nandroid and play with it? You can remove it with root explorer but the best way to do it would be to use adb commands while booted into recovery. More than likely, if you remove it with an app like root explorer or titanium, the app will be running at the time of removal and screw things up.
If you remove the app and something is screwed up, just restore the nandroid.
I'd be interested to know if things still work properly as i use handcent too.

Oh, good idea! I'll try it but can you teach me how to use adb to remove it? I have adb working, I just need the commands xD
Oh ok, that makes htc sense.
The best and easiest way to do that from your phone would be to download titanium backup off the market, which can uninstall stock apps like the messenger.
Just tried it, still recieving texts from handcent only, but you might still want to do a nand just in case.

I'm not a power adb user myself but a quick google search will tell you what you need to know. Here's a page I found - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=706074
Go into a command prompt and enter:
cd (tools directory of sdk)
adb remount
adb shell rm (folder that app is in)/(app name)
exit

Did any one know how to disable double tap home button ???
You will find all instructions and files you need in this thread => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1227479
I think they're asking about the voice command activation. Currently you can only do this if you have root access. After you get root, you'll have to download an app freezer like Titanium Backup Pro in order to freeze voice command.

Well, not really.
In fact you can just freeze the app and the double tap won't work anymore, but it won't fix the lag that we have with the home button (it doesn't react immediatly because it wait for an eventual double tap). You can fix this lag by following the indication in the thread I pointed to, it will fix the lag by removing completely the double tap feature.
Tanks. XD

whenever the keyboard is open i get a keyboard notification in statusbar which is to select input method i have already done so but still getting it annoying much running stock LF2 and not rooted using swiftkey3
That notification is to change keyboard.
You cannot get rid of it without rooting. The only ROM I even know of which can disable it is CM9...

Actually, i got rid of it! but with a "side-effect"
you go to applications menu
and you Disable applications that listen to you (like google voice search)
and then it dissapears
but the problem is, if you use voice assistants this gets in your way

He just said disable voice search. Find voice search under settings>apps and disable it. It will just come back if you ever install another keyboard, and you can't use voice.

If you mean voice command have already disabled it and there isn't any option to turn voice search on or off.

Is there a way to remove the voicemail tab from the stock messaging app? I inadvertently hit it sometimes and the messaging app force closes. I use Google Voice for voicemail, so I'd like to remove this tab completely. Thanks!
nvm
Not without flashing some type of mod or custom rom. Or don't use the stock messaging app and you won't see it. I use ninja sms so I don't see it.

I'm not sure what i did because it was over a year ago, but I was able to use voice to text from clicking the speaker button in my keyboard. On any app anytime without Wi-Fi and with data off. Does anyone know where I got that ability? Gtalk enabler? Offline vtt? Idk I'm sure it was a zip or apk but I can't remember what. Google search had no results. I was using task650 4.1.2 unicorn JB rom

Look under the Language & Input settings in System settings: you have to enable Google Voice typing, then it will work.
Lol. I just noticed it was preinstalled just didn't know how to activate it. Thanks
