Mobile Odin Pro - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How do I flash ROMs meant for CWM with Mobile Odin.
I only want to know how to do this as some ROMs do not have root.
Mobile Odin has the EverRoot option aswell as Inject CWM
I know mobile odin uses .tar or
.tar.md5 files. CWM uses .zip
How can i convert these .zip's to use with mobile odin.
I hear the normal way of converting a .zip to .tar will not work

first of all mobile ODIN need root,
once you rooted what is the big deal to install CWM and flash the CWM meant ROM from there,
Mobile ODIN is mainly meant for flashing stock firmaware, also allow you to auto root it.

AutoRoot is the reason i want it.
The Koud AOSP 4 ROM does not have root.

Something is corrupted or not compatible with your phone. What did you flas? Rom, etc..
If you cant figure it out, just find the stock rom and use odin to flash it back to stock. Then flash the new rom you want to use.

Or
Odin clockworkmod recovery and flash a custom rom.

Odin a stock firmware, ED05 is probably your best bet imo. Let it fully boot once, then odin CWM. there is a great guide by Droidstyle in the General tab that gives you flawless instructions on how to do this.

I dont remember seeing any method for rooting by using odin.
Anyway, get a kernel that works on your phone model specifically. Flash it with odin through download mode. Then use Easy Rooting Toolkit V4 by DooMLoRD to root.
So you have no more details? How are people suppose to help?
I downloaded kies, went through that process then closed kies and used odin, then kernel and uploaded kernel via PDA. And rooted.

---------- Post added at 05:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:48 PM ----------
These are some kernels maybe you should consider http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Epic_4G_Touch/Kernels
This section is mostly for I9100.
But, There is a specific section here for your phone and it might be better for you to check it and find resources that are more related to you http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1281.
Flash one that you feel OK with and we can help you through if you are still having issues.

First what rom u want to go to?
If you are trying to stay on stock gb but u need to unroot then if im not wrong this could b an order. If u want everything stock including recoveries u have some downloadings to do.. download stock gb rom and also the recovery. If the rom is zip flash it via cwm or twrp. If is odin flash it yet though it might trip that counter so you got another thing to download aka counter reset.zip.. flash the stock recovery via odin again so if you want to avoid flashing the counter reset. Zip just wait until rom and recovery is flashed. By you flashing the stock official rom you loose root so yep. Once you flashed the rom and recovery you will have to rename you counter reset file to update.zip since im not sure the recovery can install what ever u want. I guess restart to bootloader and flash the "update.zip" aka file and bye the counter is back to 0...... remember bfore anything DO A NANDROID BACKUP WITH CWM OR TWRP...... IF YOU WANT ALSO DO A SECONDARY APP BACKUP USING TITANIUM BACKUP OR MYBACKUP! ....... Any one wants to add or correct me feel free

No. There is a stock recovery file that you can flash through cwm or twrp. You flash the stock recovery, then flash counter reset before rebooting out of cwm or twrp whichever you're using.

Here is the flushable recovery file that can be flashed through cwm/twrp. I saw that i still had it in my drop box. It's for AT&T. Not sure if that's the right carrier for you.

[Q][I9300][XXELLA]Best way to root?

Hello everyone,
I got my new S3 and would like to root it. I am looking for the easiest way to do so. Currently I would like to stay on stock firmware, but only rooted. There seems to be so many ways to root the I9300, so I am looking for suggestions from user who have rooted already.
My S3 info:
Model number: GT-I9300
Android version: 4.1.2
Baseband version:I9300XXELLA
Build number: JZO54K.I9300XXEMA2
This method seems the easiest: [GT-I930x/T/N][SHV-E210*][SHW-M440S] CF-Auto-Root
Thank you,
CF-Autoroot or CF-Root 6.5 depending if you want to have a custom recovery or not. Follow the guides and make sure to flash the correct file for your device!
PhilZ Or TWRP .

Although I would recommend changing the recovery that comes with the latter anyway as we can't guarantee it's SDS safe, which means may as well do CF_Autoroot.
Then as JJE says, flash Philz or TWRP
I used cf auto root then put cwm recovery on. XXEMC2 also have stock rom at the min

Philz is like CWM but with way more features.
TWRP is a completely different experience but equally as good. Both of these are safe from SDS (See sticky in general for Sudden Death)
CWM is nto SDS safe
Just read thay thread..and I do suffer feom random bouts of the phone restarting itself.but this is an issue I had on stock rom before root
Have noticed since root my clock widget forgets to update so I have to delete it and replace again on hoke screen
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
We're talking about recovery now not rom. If you stick with cwm, when you flash a rom - we cannot tell you you're safe from brick due to sds. Only twrp or philz we can say you're safe. We've advised you. Follow or ignore our advice, its your call but you have been warned.

When you say "with", you don't mean you will try to root with Mobile Odin do you? Mobile Odin only works after root. You will need Desktop Odin to flash CF_AutoRoot

Root and recovery

Hey guys. I just got this phone for my nephew. I want to root it and rom it. Right now it's running gingerbread, which let's face it, is garbage! I am pretty sure towelroot will do the root for me, but I don't see a recovery thread anywhere? Any help here would b great, and much appreciated.
Thanks,
Zound

Please refer to the search function there is a long thread on rooting and flashing roms for the i777

You can use Framaroot with Aragorn exploit to root.
This phone does not have a separate recovery. It's built into the kernel. You must flash a custom kernel containing recovery. If you are 100% certain the phone has gingerbread, then flash the tar version of Siyah 2.6.14 Kernel using (preferably) Mobile Odin pro or Mobile Odin lite (free), or you can flash it with standard Odin3 v1.85.
