So I have ICS installed (released a couple days ago) but the bloatware and touchwiz make it hard to use without frustrations. I've been using checkrom before this. Is there or will there be a clean ICS release soon? How long does it take for pro devs to build one? Thanks

There's quite a few if u look in the android dev section.

I can't seem to find anything based on the latest official rom released on March the 13th... Aren't the others based on unstable/beta ICS roms?
Might take a bit longer than three whole days for Devs to build a rom might even wait for a better release .

Best thing I did was to just Root from Stock ICS ver.LPQ, remove bloatware with Titanium and then installed Apex Launcher form the Android Market....er I mean Google Play Shop.
Looks good enough to me.
Hi guys,
sorry if some might already answered this question, but i was unlucky with my search and im n00b to the Android system ( been use IOS for years)
my question is, what is the different for me with a SGS3? is it just a updated Android release?
currently im running with the XXALF2 version now and with that i can use all the SGS3 function, but what about IMM76I, does it have same function (smart call, smart stay and smart alert?) and what is the different ?
thanks in advance.
IMM76I is AOKP rom more custom rom and XXALF2 is orginal Samsung rom full whit blotware. But you haw XXALF2 custom made roms like Omega , Wanam and other.

Hmm people are loving empty spaces rather than bloatwares sorry softwares . And how misleading it would be introduce those words to new users ?
《tapatalked from galaxy s3》
thanks for the quick reply.
so with the AOKP i dont have the same function as the samsung custom rom, if i decide to flash IMM76I ?
when you say bloatware you mean software reporting status to samsung ?

Aosp roms will miss ssome features of Samsung rom . Like you won't have smart stay, pop up play, etc etc. Aosp is meant for pure Google experience like galaxy nexus. Yeah people call additional software's from Samsung as bloatwares

Thanks mate. I'm better understand it now, what about kernels, does it have anything to do with these release?

it depends on the kernel, some kernels only support samsung roms and some kernels support both samsung and aosp.
as of now it is safe to use aosp roms with thier own kernels, in a few days of time custom kernels like siyah will support both aosp and samsung roms.

Siya already does.
OP,
I would suggest staying with the samsung based roms for now. You're new to samsung android. Get used to the features and how you can use your phone.
I always used AOSP Roms (Android open source project) to replace my HTC roms but I knew what functionality I was missing.
I too am new to Samsung and finding lots of cool features that are samsung only.
There is no way I will be going to AOSP yet. And this is from someone who developed AOSP for HTC devices, so obviously I am a big fan of AOSP.
Im just saying, theres a lot of benefit from samsung roms so work out what they are before trying aosp then you will see what (if anything) is missing for you.

yeah it does, but not recommended for new users with aosp as of now. would suggest the OP with stock roms for some months atleast..
alright, i agree - the features in the stock rom are awesome and i wont miss that by any chance, the problem with me is that im love to custom everything instead of standard and sometimes it have its backfire effect
the Omega seems to still have all the feature and i would maybe stick to that one for now.
about the AOSP, do you believe there will come a release that support all the currently feature SGS3 have in the future ?
cheers and thanks

Try Resurrection remix 2.6.1. Based on ICS and stable as a rock. I'm pretty new myself and been using it for a while.Easy to install and no issues whatsoever. :good:
First of all, are you sure you have an i9100 and not an i9100G, a skyrocket (AT&T or Rogers), a Galaxy S2 LTE HD, etc?
If you do have an i9100, this is the forum for you. If not, try and find your right forum...
I'd look in the SGS2 android dev forums and not the Original Android Dev forums. Alot of cooks have ROMs with SGS3-like themes... And there's possibly a touchwiz5 mod in the themes section. I know the ripple lockscreen was ported too...
To be honest, alot of ROMs exist but it's a question of taste... I know Resurrection remix is a popular one. Alot of people switched to Cyanogenmod when ICS hit though, as ICS wasn't up to par for Samsung's implementation...
Your best bet is to flash a custom kernel with CWM recovery in Odin (Alot of guides to do this) like CF-Root and then grab ROMs and flash them through CWM. If you want a kernel that's able to dual boot, you can use DreamKernel, Siyah, etc. That way you can get one ROM going and test a second ROM as a secondary. Dual booting can be achieved because we have a 500MB partition on our phones that isn't used for anything... Fun, is it not?
And The other rom is pfittech ics rom and is also stable and he is working on stable jb rom as among other devs

I'd go with rootbox. Just because the dev updates more frequently does not mean it's a better rom. The ones who don't update frequently just mean they don't have bugs to fix...

Hi for all... thats basically my question, what mod do you recommend? I thinked CM but it's currently oj nightlyes builds and has a lot of entendible bugs.. f4k mod didn't lime me, i hear omega.. but what is the more "stable", "quicker," mod possible? My idea is install a good mod and install tons of apps and games with no problems.. thanks in advance and please sory my english i'm argentinian.. .
Omega 100% stable and the developer indie doesn't stop. Always updated to the latest firmware. Also a lot of theme support on the thread. Check out motomoto theme its a beauty.

Sure? Because I Think what android eclair, froyo, ics, ebean all of them are ROMS And things such cyanogen, criskelo ,darkys etc are MODS for the android ROMS!... and im NOT asking for the BEST "rom".. simply i am asking for suggestions .. i readed so much stu**d questions here and i think mine is not so bad... thanks for read anyway

eclair, froyo, ics, etc are versions.
cm, darky, criskelo, omega are all roms that are modded. mods on the other hand are specific changes that do not include the whole rom with it. it depends on having a rom as a base to install onto.
stuff like removing charging notifications or add camera functionality are mods. the ability to add any app to multi Window is a mod, but cm, darky, omega etc are ROMs. they're completely independant and does not require a flashing of another rom as a base.
and yes, you are asking for what the best rom is. the fact is, you'll have to just try different roms and see which one suites your need. check the all in one sticky thread for a link to another thread that categorizes roms based on what concept of android they're going for (stock, aosp, aokp, sense, etc etc).
all of these roms are very well documented and they explain what their rom was built for.

I think u post on the wrong section, sir.
If you post on the Q&A, or the thread of the ROM instead, you will get answer faster.

Those need TW framework which is found on sammy rom's only. So, not possible to have them in any other rom

+1 to leeo
1) wrong section (as already been mentioned)
2) most samsung apps are heavily dependant on the touchwiz framework. This is the reason you don't see any of these samsung apps in other custom roms like MIUI or any AOSP/AOKP rom.
If there are apps that are portable to other roms, then they have already been ported by other users, just google search and if you can't find the apps already ported to other roms, then you don't even need to bother trying as they are too much dependant on the samsung framework ^^
p.s. if its ported from tw to tw roms then it doesn't count as the framework the apps rely on is present in both
As per advice by all other member, it is not possible to implement Samsung app on an aosp or cm based rom like miui.
But you can still use the current support rom by miui team for note ii n7100 that based on sammy rom 4.1.2 like aminalmo miui port rom for at&t
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2071480
it has most of sammy 4.1.2 feature and based on miui. It still unofficial for n7105 so there might be bugs.
just make sure you don't flash the n7100 and hope someone will port the latest n7100 miui official rom to n7105.
Thanks everyone for you your responses.
Even though MIUI don't have any official support or development on this device, since its not International version.
Cheers
