Get storage analyzer. It's a free app that will tell you where all of your storage is being used.
Trust me...it will be your best friend.
You can choose between viewing files in the internal storage, the external, or the whole device. In your case, make sure your internal storage isn't full...and check for appears that was left behind even though you uninstalled the app for it.
Also, I'd check to make sure that your internal storage, is in fact full, and that it's not just your 2GB space alloyed for apps.

move to sd card
this app works great:
ZDbox (All-In-One toolbox)
ZDworks Co.,Ltd.
from the google play store.
Allows you to move many apps at once. It scans your phone at well tell you what all apps you can move your sd card, then lets you select and move them.

I hate game loft games. They leave all of the post-downloaded data behind after an uninstall.

Ok let me be clear there is a app to move gameloft data to external.sd for devices with built in sdcard and external sd to you move over to external

Store apps on USB storage

I apologise if this a nooby question but I've searched and can't find anything. Is it possible to store the apps on the 16gb usb storage instead of device storage. I don't have a memory card cos i think the 16gb will be ample big enough.
Cheers

What do you mean? All your apps go on a different partition which is 2gb in size. I hope you are not talking about using apps2sd...

Oh rite thanks for clearing it up. Just on my old phone (n97) the device storage was different to the usb storage. If i use up more of the device will the phone run slower? Sorry for the questions just want to try and get the best out of the phone, thanks : )

well, the addiional 11GB of the internal memory is also mounted as "sdcard" (while the actual SD card looks like a standar folder on this partition called "external_sd"), but you won't be able to use it for applications via apps2sd... at least my stock rom doesn't allow this, that works only with the actual SD card.
Either way, the primary 2GB offers plenty of room except if you want to install the whole android market on it.
When I tried to install NavFree I got an error Not enough space.

Storing music...internal vs extrernal?

Hey guys. I can't remember exactly what I did but it seems like everything's saved on my SD card and almost nothing is in my internal storage. I have 10.67 out of 10.69 gigs free of internal storage while I only have .96 gigs of 7.40 gigs of my SD card left. 3 gigs are from music. Now my question is would it be smart to move my music to the internal storage or would it be smarter to move other things from the SD card to internal because as I said I basically have nothing on the internal mem

Bump...anyone?
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
It really doesn't matter. Some music apps only scan internal, so guess that's an argument for going with that option. Just know that a wipe rom will wipe your music. I'd get a 32gb external
Yea true. Hmm I just cannot recall what I had on my internal storage which is now on my SD card. Wish I knew what was taking up all of the space under root explorer I can see everything on the SD card I just don't know what I do and don't need on there and what is taking up all the space while my internal storage still has virtually no room being taken up. Also anyone running cm7 is the default under cyanogenmod settings>application is the box unchecked or checked for use internal storage? Mine is unchecked

Running ICScrewD ROM
Settings>Applications> Manage Applications> the On SD Card tab at the top, will move capable apps to the sd card.

Thanks for the reply guys but Im not trying to move my apps to the sd card . Im trying to make the data that the apps download go to the sd card

I don't think you can. The internal storage is mounted to /mnt/sdcard, and apps seem to always put their downloaded data on /mnt/sdcard. Only tip I can give is to move all your music, pics and videos to the external card to make room for the app data.
Or, move game data to the external sd card when you're not using it, then move it back when you want to play that game.

Hey guys I figured out that cyanogen has that option to use internal or external sd for data storage. Is there a stock rom that offers it?
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk
No, at least not on any stock based android I've seen. Cyanogenmod was designed to be installed onto the ext sd card. The 'option' it gives is to use the internal, not the other way around. Technical difference, but nonetheless.
I've never seen a stock based 'prom' (that's for you gary) for any phone that had android installed onto the ext sd card.

Using the actual sd card for gameloft games

It's there a way to get the gameloft games to use an actual sd cards instead of the internal memory for the additional data? I'm running out of space too quickly. Thanks.

Look for App2SD in the Market. This should have been in Themes and Apps, BTW.
That's not what I mean. Games and apps look to the internal memory, which is labeled sdcard. Our sd card seems to be labeled external sdcard. If an app needs to install extra data, I want to know if there is way to get it to install to the external sdcard?

Im wondering the same thing. The only way I've been able to solve it is to flash cyanogen mod and it has an option there. I moved my modern combat 3 data to the external sd after i checked use external and it worked And it kept my saved data

Thanks I might look into that. This is the first Android phone I haven't needed to root or install another ROM on it.

There is a couple workarounds for this situation. Easiest and best way I like to go at it is just download "gl to sd" from the market. Pretty simple directions, basically it allows you to dl your app then for all gameloft games like 9MM, MW3 etc..and even some other huge extra data games it lets you move the huge extra data download to your external sd card and play the games as normal. It You wont notice any difference in speed, graphics, etc... I've saved myself about 8-9gigs so far easily on internal sd. If your a heavy game player or even occosional but dont want to bother copying files back and forth etc.. Make sure you go with a 32gig ext sd card. My 16gig started filling up very quickly once I found this program .
Any questions with the app let me know, the instructions are a little vague, but if you read reviews ppl explain in detail in case any of it confuses you, but its really pretty easy.
Have fun!
I believe tibu has a batch operation that'll move to sd. Not sure if it move to internal or external tho.
Thanks this sounds promising.

Storage Question

Seems that I have no room left on my phone storage & tons of space left on my SD card. How can I get my phone to put everything on the card, by default??
Would this work: if I hook my phone up to my PC, then just took all the folders on my phone storage, and moved them to the Card. Would my apps & stuff still work or would doing that not be good??

I don't think just copying the apps will allow them to work. You can use Application Manager to move some apps to the sd card.
I went thru all my apps & moved whichever ones I was able to move. But I did that a long time ago. So I still have no room on my phone storage.

Move photos, downloads and any music on your phone to your SD card too. Then in your camera app go to settings and change the SD card as default.
Download the free version of SD Maid and use it to clean up old thumbnails and program files still on your phone from before you moved them.
I once deleted 2gb of photo gallery thumbnails from my phone with this app. You can also see which files are the largest on your phone and SD card to see if you can move or delete anything.
I have this app on my phone, tab, and my kids tabs to keep up with their memory and storage usage.

Thanks, I'm also running out of space, I'll give this a shot.
Tonight I was gonna try to just backup all my.stuff and then start over. I use GO launcher and I saw that I have GO backup on my phone, so I was gonna try to.use that. I started the app & it said my SD card is corrupted or damaged. I included a screenshot of what it said:
So would this be the reason why everything is on my internal storage instead of my card? Or is that message just something I.should ignore??

If you have a card reader unmount your SD card, take it out and try reading it on a computer. If you can read it I would copy everything off and put in a temporary folder on your desktop. Then format the card with the computer and put it back in the phone, format it using the phone and try your back-up again.
If it works put the card back in your computer and copy your files back. Be sure to unmount the card each time. Mine went corrupt once because I didn't.
How do I make the SD card, the default storage for everything? Or is that not possible...
