Does wiping the battery actually help battery life, because if so, how. I'm getting about 14 hours outta my phone right now.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Did you follow these steps? I am running Bionix 1.7 w/Voodoo and used these steps to recondition my battery. I would say 14 hours is pretty good. These phones are battery whores. What apps are you running? GPS on all day?
Battery Reconditioning:
1. Charge phone completely, leave plugged into power
2. Boot into recovery
3. Wipe battery stats
4. Reboot
5. Remove power cable
6. Drain that sucker all the way
7. Recharge fully
8. Rejoice!
Question about step 3 is that clear cache from the recovery menu, cause I can't find the wipe battery stats option....
I have:
reboot
reinstall packages
clear user data
clear cache
You want to boot into Clockwork Recovery and then look under Advanced.

I can't seem to figure out how to actually get into clockwork recovery without installing a rom or backing up a rom through Rom Manager. Could you please tell me how to get into the CWM Recovery instead of the Vibrant Recovery?
Thanks for the help in advance

With CWM you have the option to boot into recovery. If you get to vibrant recovery then just choose the update package option and that should transfer you to CWR.

thank you, I was now able to get into the advanced tab and see the wipe battery stats.
I thank you so much ur a scholar and a gentleman!
you may can't believe. my battery life is up to 25 hours...i may use less than others. but it is very long anyway..

Do I need a rooted phone to do this?
Yes. You can't install clockwork recovery without root.

Do you mean to choose the "Reinstall Package" option? I don't seem to have a "Update Package" option in recovery.

I have done this about 20 times and I get the same battery life every time 7 hrs max and that's texting and some internet browsing on edge since 3g is week at work. So I don't what I am doing wrong or if I just have a crappy battery but I don't know how you all are getting that kind of results lol. Oh and I got my phone used from a friend so the battery could of been broken in improperly so that could be why it does nothing for me. Any suggestions any one?

I am trying to calibrate my battery, so I fully charged my phone and wiped battery stat (the recovey didn't return "installation complete" when I selected wipe batstat...is this normal?), and turned on to let it drop until it shuts of automatically.
But at about 96%, my phone rebooted automatically while using google voice international call. Do I have to restart the calibration or does it not matter at all?

You actually wiped nothing. CWM doesn't wipe your battery statistics. You need to download Adynalyne's scripts to do it, OR if you're on one of the newer Super Clean ROMS, just open a terminal on your phone and type in:
su
bstats
I believe that's it anyway.
Or flash this the same way you would flash any rom or kernel in cwm.
I am on sc 2.9.1 with voodoo kernel. I will flash that file and see if it worked. Thank you!
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Or you can manually delete the file "batterystats.bin" located in /data/system
Hey guys, I've had this question for some time. If you're gonna flash a Rom over another without wiping, like I'm doing now, Energy Aug 1 over 6th, I have 27% right now, is it safe to flash?

if you mean with 26% battery, then yea it should be ok. i flashed a rom with 12% battery before. and as long as you go from ics to ics rom you will be ok.
(the flashing process is so fast that you dont have to worry about battery too much)

You cannot brick a device if you're flashing ROMs with low battery. Heck, I've done it with 5% battery. Worst case scenario: Battery dies during flash. Phone probably won't boot due to no system (or corrupt system) installation. Solution: Charge it and then flash it again when there is enough battery. That is, if the ROM doesn't flash another radio/hboot.
For RUUs, radios, and hboots that is a COMPLETELY different story. Your battery dies while flashing a RUU, radio, or hboot, and you're probably screwed. (Not always, but a good chance)
yea i forgot to add the RUU part...
you definatly want at least 50% when flashing an RUU so that there is no possible way for a brick during that
Ahh awesome thanks for quick answers guys!!

I'd still flash a rom with full battery
read somewhere if you don't flash with full battery, the ICS set-up during initial boot might screw things up battery wise
I know that my first flash with the energy rom was at 70% battery, and had problems with battery life
flashed the (RUU) and Speed Rom with 100% battery, currently with no problems
EDIT: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25978764&postcount=34
some more info, useful i hope?

When flashing with the RUU you know you are replacing EVERY system file on the phone.. so the ultimate "battery calibration"(since wiping battery stats is a proven myth) is having full battery when replacing system files.
As for the original question, if your battery dies after wiping ALL partitions you can completely wipe your device. When flashing a ruu it is accessing all partitions, but when flashing a normal rom it typically only wipes the system and data partition. As long as you have a recovery partition you can reflash any bad flash. As long as you can access boot loader you should be able to flash any ruu. But anytime you are messing with system files I think it is safe to say you don't want your phone to actually die and kill the process at some incomplete point.
When flashing roms I've never had it use more than 7%, so I'd say starting at 15% or more should be pretty safe.. but flashing at 100% will obviously write any system file that tells the phone what the battery capacity is, so I will always recommend it. If there is such a thing as the system checking battery capacity at all.

i have flashed my panasoni p55 but it does not have battery charged .it is showing no response what should i do now?????
hi everybody.
i'm not new in this forum but i onl now registered so i cant post in the android development section ( or so the site says)
i have a Samsung Galaxy S II ( GT-i9100)
i was using a CM10 based Paranoid android Rom for a long time and it was great.
a few days ago i wanted to use a new ROM - [ROM 4.1.2 - 4.2] JellyBam - 20121115 [AOKP.CM10.PARANOID] [AROMA] [SPACESTYLE]
i did exactly what the instructions said :
Put Rom zip in internal SD
wipe data + cache + Dalvik
install rom - using siyah Kernel 5.0.1
after the install the Rom lodas fine and seems to work great but after the first time i need to restart the phone it get stuck in the boot animation
i tried doing another Cache + Dalvik wipe after the install but it still happens
when i was searching the Rom's Forum , no one seemed to had the same problem, and that is why i am posting this here.
if any one can help i will be grateful.
thanks in advance
shlomo
p.s.
for now i went back to a Nand backup of my old rom...
hi there.
i manged to fix the first problem by flashing the rom with a different kernel - Dorimanx...
but now i have a different problem
everytime that i turn the phone on i get the messege "upgrading android"
and there are times that the phone turnes off for no reason (mainly when i get incoming calls)
and after that when i turn it back on again the battary is almost dead - today it happened when i had 70% and when i turned in back on the battary went down to 4%!!!
what can i do???
1.Wipe data/factory reset
2.Format /system
3.Flash the ROM (choose whatever Kernel in aroma)
4.Wipe cache
5.Wipe dalvik
6.Restart
Try that.
edit: oh and if the battery problem persists, calibrate your battery (there are plently of guides out there i'm sure you can find)
Thankx for the help, ill try that (again). Just a few questions.
Do you recommend a specific kernel (if j usr siyah i seem to get a bootloop)
What guide do you recommend to calibrate the battary, there are allot of them out there that i dont kbow which to use
Thanks again.

u can use Dorimanx v7.22 kernel ma8
also battery callibration apps will not aid u in any way on ur SGS2, since it comes with seperate Fuel gauge chip
u can use the 'Stweaks' app that comes with the Dorimanx kernel and do a 'Reset Fuel gauge chip' in it to have a better reading with ur battery

thanks for the advice about the kernel, ill do that
about the fule guge chip - what exacatly does it mean that the phone have a separate one? and if i do reset it using ths stweaks, than what - is that all it takes to recalibrate the battary?

You can reset the fuel gauge chip, and if it doesnt work you can try the following: charge the battery to 100%, leave it on the charger. Go to recovery, wipe battery stats under advanced. Reboot, unplug from charger.
Hope it helps.
Edit: I think I read somewhere that its recommended to leave the battery to fully discharge after wiping bat stats (let the phone turn itself off) and then recharge again.

Why don't you try Rootbox? Jelly bam is based on it anyway, why not try the rom from the dev instead of a cook

well... tried Rootbox and i gotta say its a nice rom.
bot not more then that... the paranoid android settings are all wonky there and i still get many bootloops - even you can work around them by turning on and off...
going to try P.A.C Rom
any advice would be appreciated
Edit: well, tried P. A. C Rom, worked well to start with. But then again it started a bootloop for no reason... For now went back to a nand backup of jellybam from 16/11 that seems to be the most stable. Why does this keep happening???
Hello xda. Lately I've flashed jellybean update from sammobile. Since the beginning it was pretty unstable and then yesterday out of no where it started charging really slow and at times begins discharging itself too. I've the stock charger and cable. Plus I've flashed cm10 and omega too but no avail. Should I flash it back to ics? I know there's no issue with charger and cable.

Any other solutions? I want to keep This rom (omega 33.2)
I have this problem to.. i want to say after flash omega rom while charging the led is red but is a black-red .. now dont have a higher bringhnes.
I tried all popular kernels. 4-5 h for full batery
Sorry for my en.
How did you install Omega?
Full Wipe?
If you didn't do a full wipe, I would start with a fresh install, with a full wipe, or alternatively, Wipe Delvic Cache, Cache,Format System, Format Preload, and finally Fix Permissions.
Slower charging appears to be coming more of a common problem for people on JB now.
I had notice a decreased charge rate, however after a full wipe, and updating to Syiah 1.8 it appears to have returned back to normal.
I have a frash install (with full whipe ) and i just installed siyah 1.8 but nothing yet..
Format System ? Why?
