[Q] Xperia neo wont turn on - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

So basically I tried to flash Ice Cream Sandwich onto my neo. I cant find the exact thread I used now but I remember flashing the kernel then installing the .zip. Then the phone would either get stuck in a continous boot loop for freeze on the xperia logo.
I then tried different kernels which none worked, then I used a different rom which didnt work and then I managed to install the ftf file for the original rom on my neo which was MT15i_4.0.A.2.368_HK , when I turned my phone on I was asked to update so I did and my phone turned off and it wont turn on at all. It is rooted and I had unlocked the boot loader.
Thanks for the help.

You unlocked your BL via official way, sony's page, right? And then you did OTA update, and because of that now you have brick.
Follow this thread and you will fix your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1126358
Now, about ICS, unless you tell us which zip you flashed we can't help you much.

You never said how you unlocked your BL.
Now after you flashed that fix your phone is being recognized as neo, so I'm not sure what would pc companion do when it see your neo with ICS, as it knows there is no ICS for neo.
Anw, just follow XDA and you will have instructions

My bad people, above patch from emannxperia for Neo will work, but it have some tweeks inside of it. So if you wanna clean build.prop
Flash this zip trough CWM

[NEO] [TUT] Android 2.3.4 - MT15i 4.0.1.A.0.283 Global with Root Guide

Hello All
This is a guide to install the latest version of Android 2.3.4 - MT15i 4.0.1.A.0.283 Global on your NEO and install root access.
Please note it does not install DooMLoRD's kernel, but uses it to root your phone. This is a workaround until the source of 2.3.4 is released and a new kernel based on 2.3.4 can be released. You will also need to have an unlocked bootloader.
1. Backup your data. (Just in case!)
2. Download the FTF file from here:
http://www.multiupload.com/DGV8GLT1TP
(Thanks to sdk16420 for uploading the update files and thomasafca for making the FTF and uploading!)
3. Flash the FTF file with Flashtool. Unselect 'wipe user data' to preserve data and settings. (You can get flashtool from here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000012)
4. Restart your phone and turn off. The first time loading will take a bit of time.
5. Download the boot.img from this thread:
[KERNEL][NEO] DooMKernel [Rel: v08][Dt: 01/Sept/2011][FW:4.0.A.2.368]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1197263
Thanks to DooMLoRD.
7. Save the boot.img in the folder with fastboot binaries (fastboot.exe file and other files)
8. Turn off the phone and start it in fastboot mode.
9. Use this command:
Code:
fastboot boot boot.img
10. This will not install the kernal, but boot the system with this kernal and allow it to autoroot and install SuperUser.
Once this is done, turn your phone off and restart.
You phone will then reset and have root access and 2.3.4!
Enjoy

It was obvious that the latest kernel for 2.3.3 would be used for 2.3.4 as well.
Look at the kernel version numbers for 2.3.3 4.0.A.368 : 2.6.32.9-perf and 4.0.1.A.0.283 : 2.6.32.9-perf.
The conclusion?
I have just finished installing 2.3.4 and DoomKernel v8. Well... it works. So no need to make a new kernel.
What's the point of this?

That you can root your new FW like that too, should you not want custom kernel.
I'm confirm that. Doomlord v8 kernel works well to 2.3.4 firmware
Sent from my MT15i using Tapatalk
I guess I am more cautious. It may be the same, but I'd prefer to wait untill the source code is released. Or is there a way to check if both kernal's are the same?
Same kernel version?
The source is already released...
For 2.3.4? It's released?
This user posted the Doomlord's Kernal does not have WIFI working. I was just going onto the side of caution, so people can have stock ROM that's just rooted, until it has a wider release No bugs then or unforseen issues.
Still not seeing that it is the same kernel...
And Doomkernel does not cause wifi problems, its SE FW that has this problem, it merely shows out more evidently with tweaks and additions in DoomKernel
---------- Post added at 01:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:32 PM ----------
Discard that, despite the same version number... I started to have wifi problem as well. Must be some setting in DoomKernel as to what exactly...
i dont get it anymore, will doomkernel work on 2.3.4 or not? (not only root)
and if you have already doomkernel on 2.3.3 can you still update to 2.3.4?
Yes you can update, and yes the kernel boots, works but without wifi.
DoomLord has done quite some changes to networking in his DoomKernel. I had certain problems with my wireless router in 2.3.3 as well, but now with 2.3.4 wifi just stops working at all.

Tried to get root in your way funkyblue, device boots up the Xperia custom bootimage and shuts down. No root. RootXperia method works for my neo.
interesting. Not sure why. It should work and boot.
That is curious indeed. Must be that my device is somewhat... special or otherwise different.

If you want use "rootxperia" that mean you have bootloader already open, and that mean you have partically already "the magical root"
Why do we need root, a rooted phone one more time!
It sounds funny!
Its a joke.
But the point is..."we dont have prerooted 2.3.4.img yet"..

Is WiFi also not functioning using the ClockWorkMod method?
Everything works superbly well. I used this Global 283 ROM ftf:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KWNWTH47
I cleared Dalvik Cache/Cache/User Data/Battery Stats first (still had CWM from DoomLord V8 on 368), then ftf via Flashtool, then NeoRecovery Image (boot only not flash!), then Rootexperia.zip via temporary CWM.
I then removed some of the naff apps using ES Explorer. Not that this is entirely necessary of course. Just tidier!
Really happy with it. No problems or funnies at all. And I'm a picky SoB...
(The trick I learned from previous phones and my own ROM cooking is to clear everything before flashing. A clean deck, as it were.)

Install oficial ICS first?

Good afternoon, I am new in this theme and would like to ask a couple of things that I have not found an answer here in the forum. I have a Xperia Ray St18a, he came with Android 2.3.3 and I upgrade to 2.3.4 (4.0.2.A.0.62)(via OTA). Now I have the bootloader unlocked, I'm root and I have the CWR installed and I want to install the ROM RayOniumICS.v7 S Revolution, in the post the "Chef" recommended to install the official ICS ROM first but I do not understand how or which ROM install first. I've never flashed any other ROM in this Phone. I hope you understand me (my English sucks) and can help me. Thank you very much.:good:

Try this to get ICS for st18a
Try editing your build.prop file. Look in /system/build.prop.
Open it with RootExplorer and edit
See attached picture, change the numbers that are in the red box (will be different on you build.prop) to this 1252-5344
Save and exit for every file you modded.
Reboot your phone. Turn off and use SEUS.
If this doesn't (with that number) try asking in the general section for the cda number of an st18a user who has got android 4.0.4 update.
If it does work, then now you have ICS official update.
Now you need to flash a kernel that is pre-rooted and has cwm, which you will have to unlock your bootloader to do.
Then you can flash whatever rom you want to.
Cheers,
Evil.
OK, thank you very much for asking in the original post, I will be tuned to the thread, and I'll try later to do what you say. Thanks for your help and answers.

You will loose root but you wont loose your unlocked bootloader. To get root back once you have flashed stock 4.0.4, flash a custom kernel, which should be pre-rooted and have cwm installed. Boot to cwm and flash the custom rom you want.

HELP: Soft (hopefully brick) after trying to install the latest OS.

I would really appreciate assistance.
I followed the steps in http://forum.xda-developers.com/xper...8-pre-t3205929 and my phone will not start.
I don't currently have the ability to try flashing an FTF but I will be attempting to do so once I get home from work - I will try flashing https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347818113.
Prior to having this issue, I had a fully rooted 5.0.2 that was fully functional.
Will I need to first install Kitkat to root my phone or will I be able to flash the FTF and keep the existing root? I could follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/xper...5-0-2-t3094094 instead?
If someone could give me a quick guide as to what I need to do at this point to have fully functional root again, I would really appreciate it.
Unlocked or locked bootloader?
Locked.
I just had exactly the same problem with the same rom - really a waste of time. Ended up downloading through Xperifirm and building both 4.4.4 and 5.1.1 roms myself. Wasted a lots of time restoring lost data also.
You have to go back to Kit Kat, install dual recovery then flash the latest prerooted Lollipop. Just use the more tested roms for C6833 if you can't build one yourself.
---------- Post added at 01:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:05 PM ----------
You can also just flash the stock ftf without having to wipe all the data, in order to back up or recover everything you want.

Can you show the step of solving this problem.
There's already thread with detailed guide for rooting 5.0.2 (in the OP also):forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z-ultra/general/guide-root-z-ultra-stock-lollipop-5-0-2-t3094094.
There's also a better instruction here: techbeasts.com/2015/04/18/root-xperia-z-ultra-c6802-c6833-c6806-14-5-a-0-242-5-0-2-lollipop-firmware/
For rooting 4.4.4, just install the NUT's dualrecovery which will root it, no need for a separate step. For 5.1.1, if you want to build the flashable zip, get the ftf from the androidhost link above, or use Xperifirm.
So here are the steps:
.Download the 4.4.4 ftf (for C6833 will work) and flash it using flashtool.
.Install dualrecovery using the install.bat.
.Get a tested prerooted zip for 5.1.1 and flash in TWRP.
.Or download stock 5.1.1 ftf to build a prerooted flashable zip with PRFCreator then flash in TWRP.
Good luck.
tnthd2 is correct, you have to follow the instructions exactly.
it took me two goes flashing the 5.1.1. prerooted .zip and then the FTF, the first time I got a boot loop.

Need help with a ROM

Hey guys, I have an Xperia Z2 D6503 with Android 5.1.1 FW 23.4.A.1.200 non-rooted with LB
I saw this ROM -----> http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/development/rom-z2-264-stock-rooted-deodexed-t3276227
In the instructions it only says to flash it from recovery and wipe data, and since it's stock based, i was wondering if i needed to root my phone or install a special recovery before flashing this room
Thanks in advance
You don't need to root, but you do need to unlock your boot loader to be able to flash anything that isn't flashed with Sony's own tools and have their signatures.
You migt need to load a different recovery (i.e. twrp or cwm). I can't say for sure.
dont forget to save drm keys first..... I really miss the sony camera, i didnt save the keys and now the camera performance is not as good as before. Tbh u will prefer the stock more.

Last i checked 5.1 was not supported on kingroot, and not many custom roms can be used on locked bootloader. He asked about a new rom.

He asked about a stock rom. He doesn't need to unlock his bootloader. He can simply downgrade and root then install recovery and flash that stock deodexed rom. Only CM and AOSP based roms need unlocked bootloader. All the sony stock based roms can install in a LB..

Hey guys, I have an Xperia Z2 D6503 with Android 5.1.1 FW 23.4.A.1.200 non-rooted with LB
I saw this ROM -----> http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2/development/rom-z2-264-stock-rooted-deodexed-t3276227
In the instructions it only says to flash it from recovery and wipe data, and since it's stock based, i was wondering if i needed to root my phone or install a special recovery before flashing this room
Thanks in advance

My friend. .
Follow this instructions
First download 23.1.A.1.28 ftf and flash it using flashtool. Or download any kitkat ftf and flash it via flashtool. Then root it and install NUT dual recovery. Then move the rom u want to flash to ur phone and enter recovery. Wipe data factory reset and flash rom. Then reboot.. Thats it. U don't need to unlock ur bootloader..
If u don't know how to downgrade u can simply see a YouTube video. There is lot of tutorials available in xda or YouTubes.
U can't root 5.1.1 directly if u are on a LB. So follow my method and enjoy a stock deodexed rom..

@Rajeev
hi bro,
just one question:
i unlocked my BL but i am on stock ROM (and of course i saved my DRM-keys before )
So relocking my device will bring back the bravia engine etc?
Or is a complete reinstall after relocking needed?
thx

Simply restore ur DRM key using TA backup tool. Make sure u don't have a custom kernel installed
