Carbon Fiber Battery Cover - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I'm looking for a Carbon Fiber battery cover for the I717. I see them on ebay for the N7000, but not the AT&T Note. Has anyone found one for the AT&T version yet? Its my understanding that the international cover won't work on the AT&T version.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Battery-Bac...947568?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item4ab5a323f0
I know Ghost Armor has carbon fiber vinyl, but in the past I've been less than thrilled with the look. Any of the ones I've seen have looked like just what they were, cheap prints and the pictures on their site doesn't do any justice to it.

So, anyone know how I can give the battery cover that carbon fiber look?

That would look so hot on a white note

Or a Note with a Sweet Armor bumper, which is kinda the way I'm thinking of heading...

yes the n7000 wont fit the i717 case directly.... if i remeber correctly, some of the tabs on the n7000 were a bit larger, and one tab was in a differnet position...
BUT with some minor modification with my handy nail clippers, i was able to make the OEM white n7000 cover fit the i717 flawlessly.... fitment is perfect.....just a few tabs to slightly trim...took me 2 minutes
if you know how to cut your nails, you can make it work

Be advised however, if you planned on using NFC, the international versions battery door does NOT include the NFC antenna.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA

What about buying a spare i717 door and doing some surgery, and transplanting the NFC bits to a CF door?
I ordered a CF door. Where can I source a cheap i717 with the NFC bits? I'm about to do some science.

^ yes, the lack of NFC antenna on the N7000 cover is definitely 1 thing to keep in mind....
but its not something that I have use for at the moment so it will do for now

I think you can get a 717 battery cover in white for 24.99 on ebay. Or you can use the cover from Samsung that is called the flip case. Must be OEM to include the NFC stuff. Mostly $20-30.

ordered.... expeditated shipping. Ill let you guys know how it is once i get it put on and set right

Yeah, mine is SUPPOSED to be here friday. Fat chance. I'm still waiting on the mirror screen protectors I ordered.
Oh well, it's not like I'm wanting for things to do, just having that awesome honeymoon phase with a new phone.

Please post up when you guys get them.
Good point on NFC, but I don't have any use for it now, and likely won't in the near to distant future. I could easily see myself moving on to the Note 2 without ever using it.
I did vaguely recall something about trimming tabs, but A) I worry about the back cover not fitting as well anymore and B) I am worried about the tabs needed to be trimmed not being self evident. So, if anyone gets the N7000 covers and trims them, pics sure would be appreciated.

Here's some pics of an n7000 cover on my i717....like I said, it fits perfect with some minor trimming of a couple tabs...the tabs that need to be trimmed are very evident when compared with the i717 cover
Fits just as snug, if not more, than the original i717 cover
Been using it for the past 3 weeks without issue....
Sorry for crappy iPhone pics

What tabs do u need to trim?
Sent from the TermiNOTEr! ;-)

It's not on my phone. It's in the box of "things to find a use for later," and will eventually moved to the "trash," when I try to make it fit and end up putting a large gouge in it.
A whole ton of the tabs do not line up, some I trimmed and they worked, about half of one side needed to be removed as a whole.
Either I got a knock-off, a bad example, or my standards of secure fit are too high.

That "carbon fiber" back cover looks like its just a vinyl sticker applied to a stock battery cover. Have you tried heating it up with a blow dryer and peeling it off?
Form the picture, it looks identical to the ghost armor/bodyguardz CF vinyl wraps I've purchased in the past...most vendors use 3M DI-NOC (or a variation) material for their carbon fiber wraps - plenty of texture and holds up pretty well.

It's better than vinyl stickers, but just barely. It's not what I was hoping for. Oh well.

Wonder if the one from amazon I ordered is any different

Thanks for the pictures. In that second one, which is the OE cover, which the carbon fiber? And, is it me, or does your camera lens look off kilter in the last picture?
If you wanted to get rid of that "carbon fiber" cover rather than trash it, I'd be happy to take it off your hands. Please PM me if interested.

Did u ever get it to fit? Still waiting for mine to come in

[Q] Mesh case for AT&T?! (updated: post #23)

I know the AT&T version of the SII is the closest to the european model. The only case I find attractive is the genuine mesh case:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGOGthJy_ZE
Any idea if this case would fit the AT&T model?
Thanks!
The International version specs : 125.3 x 66.1 x 8.49 mm
AT&T version : 126 x 66 x 9 mm.
You really don;t need a case for this device. Its so slim and the back cover is readily available if one screws it up. Mine separated from removing it to switch out batteries. Then again I don;t use screen protectors either. I like hoe slick it is and the glass is really hard to mess up.

don't do it
The problem is that case leaves the corners exposed...I bought one for my international i9100
I bought the following...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Genuine-Galaxy-S2-i9100-SII-Mesh-Hard-Case-NEW-/180723707360?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item2a13f8ede0
I dropped the phone on the floor. It hit the corner and CRACK no more display. Beautiful case though...
The Official Mesh case is the only case I want to get for this device and I don't know if they will make an AT&T compatible one... It would be very nice if they did.
just chiming in..
got the black mesh case for my AT&T model.. doesn't fit..
so close but no cigar. It really is a nice case though!
Mesh case that fits i777
I have all of the following mesh cases.
These do NOT fit the Samsung Galaxy S2 i777 (AT&T):
http://www.ebay.com/itm/190577180423
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0056G07Z6
This one kind of fits:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/180715368559
The fit isn't exactly perfect, but it's good enough. The texture is really nice - slightly tacky. The nice thing about this case is that the corners cover a little more of the phone than the other ones do, which should protect it a little better that the other ones. Just make a hole for the second microphone near the top, and you're good to go.
EDIT: The above case develops a crack with a few days within a few days of use. I cannot recommend it.
This case does fit perfectly:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/320701889899
but, the top and bottom of the phone are fully exposed, and there is really no protection for the front. If you want a case to prevent scratches to the back of your phone, then this will work. If you want a case to protect your phone when you drop it, this won't protect your phone in the most vulnerable places for damage - the corners.

Looks the same as the eBay ones. But you say it does fit? As in the entire rim of the phone is in the case without one side being favored?

I don't understand how one mesh case can be a different size from another. I have the international version and it fits perfectly. It doesnt set in the case without a tiny bit of force, it snaps in and is a perfect fit.

I don't think they are differnet but the dimensions of the att version and the international version are slightly different. Also.. Im not the only one who is not seeing a perfect fit. Even the distributer that I bought it from confirmed it doesn't fit right.

Yes, entire rim fits in and stays in almost perfectly. It's made for the international version, so the fit isn't exactly perfect. For the price it will work until a perfect one comes out. I'm a perfectionist. Most people would probably think that this thing fits just just fine.
I haven't dropped it yet, though, so I don't know how well the case will stay on the when dropped. But it is a very good fit.

The two mesh cases that don't have a metal name plate on them are slightly different. Look under the speaker hole, and notice that one has mesh holes all the way across, and the other one doesn't. You want the one that doesn't have holes all the way across the bottom row of mesh holes below the speaker hole.

because mine doesn't have the name plate, but has mesh holes all along the bottom and definitely does not fit correctly!!

See post #7 above, the last link. You bought the one that doesn't fit. The other one with no mesh holes across the bottom of the speaker hole does fit. Look carefully, and you'll see the difference. I just ordered another one off of ebay last night for $2.50.

Aluminum Battery Cover.

Just ran across these on Ebay. not sure if they would fit out models or not but the black and silver ones look pretty slick.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Aluminum-Me...140?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27bf5c59f4
and they kinda looked raised like the 2000mah battery covers do. (judging from the looks of the camera hole)
might order one after my Taurus bumper comes in.
anyone already tried one??
Hmm... the black and silver look pretty nice - but I'd expect the price to be a bit less for random parts coming out of Hong Kong. At least the shipping is free though.
Maybe I'll try one.
Well, according to this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1313054
They may not fit anyway... good thing I didn't buy yet.
Is it physicaly bigger or is it just that the tabs dont line up?

Seller said that if it didnt fit or i didnt like it i could return it within 7 days. so i ordered a black one. figure if it works that it will look good with the Taurus bumper i ordered.
over in the i9100 forum for the 2000mah battery+cover they show that the korean version fits but a few of the tabs that secure the side have to be dremel-ed off. im hopeinh since this is coming from korea also thats all ill have to do.
I'll keep you guys informed.
Hopefully they fit, if not they need something like this for our phones. Looks so sick!

Confirming this DOES NOT FIT the ATT model. I bought this when I had brought my white SGS II International model back from Thailand, and had used it a couple days on that. they do look nice. But then when I switched to the AT&T model I sold the cover with it. Wish they'd fit the ATT model. The only thing that really concerned me was if the NFC would work through the back, but we likely won't have to worry about that since nobody seems to have any motivation to enable the NFC on our phones, hehe.
still hve not recieved mine. acording to the shipping info it is listed to be delivered on the 7th.
as soon as i get it i will let you guys know.
I am curious as well, I really like the look of these metal battery covers.
Ok. Just got mine out of the mail box. I appears to be a thin peice of aluminum adhered to a thin plastic back cover. But i can Confirm that...
It DOES fit the AT&T GSII..
snaps right on no problems. and looks awesome with my black Taurus Bumper
i'll snap some pics later tonight if i can.

You mentioned it was a metal cover over the plastic backing, does this make the phone thicker in any way? Is there now a ridge where the battery cover meets the plastic on the phone?
Looks good though!

Cases - Do we know for sure if International version will work?

I am on the prowl for a case for my upcoming Samsung Note. I am having difficulty finding (of course) any cases that are made specifically for the AT&T Version.
Do we have any confirmation that the International Version and the AT&T LTE Version are in anyway different? Mic Placement, Etc?
What are all of you buying for a case?

From what I understand, device dimensions are the same, but no one has yet been able to say whether or not MIC placement is identical.
From the pics i have seen the Mic looks like it is in the same place but not sure about the 3 mm jack

I emailed SGP and one other case manufacturer to see if they are the exact same.
The microphone thing worries me
Edit: just compared two back shot pictures of the note. One international and one AT&T. The 3.5mm jack is in the same position.
i ordered an aluminum bumper from ebay. it should be here soon. ill update everyone when i get my note!
for aluminum bumpers, i dont see a problem with mic placement. or the 3mm jack. you can just mod them easily.
anyway, speck a couple of cases out. i have used the candyshells on my iphone for about 2 years now and have dropped it about a billion times. the phone is in good condition still so they work good!

As far as we have been told, the International and 4G LTE versions are identical in shape. The internals and weight are different, but cosmetically, they are almost identical. The only noticeable difference is the home button. The international version has a physical click home button but the AT&T version has a capacitance home button. This does not effect the cases shape. You can see images of the case we will have in stock (later this week) here:
Amazon ASIN: B0075WQ118 (introductory sale price of $4.95)
You should expect to see other colors (White, Clear, Blue, Red, Purple) in this style online in a matter of days. The Gloss and Matte versions will follow later next week. Let me know if you have any questions about this case.

Thanks...I see your case shows the AT&T Version with the capacitive buttons....guess that means your case should fit like a glove. I went ahead and ordered the white one figuring that if I didn't like it...i'd only be out 8 bucks.
On another note...(no pun intended).. I currently have an IPhone 4s and use a Credit card case like the one in the attached images... Since I've been an Iphone user since the very first one, I'm having difficulty finding decent cases for other phones (IE...Note).
Are there any cases like this out there for the Note?
TIA!
What are the holes on the bottom right of the phone? It is located on the backside of the phone directly across the speaker phone. I see some cases for the N7000 having the slots opened for it and some just covers it. Also most pictures of the International Galaxy Note does not have the holes there.. is this ATT only?
Thank you for clarifying that. Makes more sense, now I can shop with ease.
Cimo, thanks for the info. About to order this case right now.
Real quick, I don't suppose if you know if this will work with ProClip's vehicle mount for the note? I know they don't have much room for give so I was planning on going with no case on the phone . . . but I like the looks of this case and the deal is pretty hard to beat.
I just bought this one from Elago.
http://www.amazon.com/elago-Slim-Ca..._1_3?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1328640739&sr=1-3
I always used Elago with my iPhone 4. They're not the best at protection, but they're the thinnest short of a decal skin. For me, that's the most important thing on a big phone.
I bought the white, because I have the white note, but maybe I'll buy another color too later, or return the white. Hope it's not that tight, like the Amazon reviewer implies, but I don't plan on removing it ever.
This one seems to be thin enough too: http://www.amazon.com/elago-Handmad..._1_9?s=wireless&ie=UTF8&qid=1328640739&sr=1-9
I was thinking about getting the SGP because it covers the power and volume buttons.
http://www.amazon.com/SGP-Samsung-G...XD94/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328645558&sr=8-1
They also have a padded thinner case like the one mentioned above but it is quite expensive. I really want to get a aluminum bumper but $50+ seems too much for protection that don't even cover the rear.

SZLF Bumper Case

Has anyone tried one of these SZLF Aluminum Bumper cases for the AT&T Note? It appears this is only for the International version but I am not aware of any differences in the size of the phone so it may work for both. All of the listings I have found for this on eBay only mention i9220 and N7000 though.

Also, if you have tried this, does the case cover the edges of the screen (further protecting a screen protector)? I like the look of this one as well as the Anymode Bumper but the Anymode looks really big.

It'll fit the AT&T/Canadian Note.
I recommend u get the following one. It's well worth the money.

Sweet armor is nice and all, but the fake is 1/4 the price, so it would win my vote. The review showed that the original is better made, but I just don't think it's that much better depending on how biased the review is.
I got the sweet armor (fake version, same as szlf) and ended up not using it. Here's why:
1. Makes phone more slippery and heavy
2. Scratches screen protector when taking on and off (and you must take it off to access battery)
3. Not very ergonomic

They look cool, some people like them, I just don't see the point since I agree with primarily your first point. The other day I was laying in my recliner with my 2 year old beside me and we were looking at a zoo app of animals while holding my phone above us. It slipped and I cracked my poor baby girl in the face with my phone. Since then I keep the silicon jacket on it untill my Seidio comes in the mail.
Can't stand the "SZLF" logo all over it...
Stay away from Aluminum Bumpers
My buddy and I both have Notes. We were just troubleshooting (Like 15 muintes ago) network connectivity problems he has been experiencing here at work the last few days. The connection would drop or stay at 4G, and rarely hit LTE. What we discovered was it was the aluminum bumper he installed around the same time the problems started. It drastically reduce his signal quality. Stay far away from these.
Thanks everyone for all the feedback. Based on the issues with potentially scratching the screen protector putting this bumper on and the poor signal strength I am just going to keep looking for something else. I like the BoxWave TPU case I have now but it does not cover the edge of the screen/SP so every once in awhile I notice it pushing up against the SP causing the SP to move slightly.

I am not sure, but it also looks like the battery cover for the N7000 is different than the one on the I717. Noticed on this SZLF case, the bottom back portion would block the I717 cover.

I don't think that's even a Note in the pictures, no S-Pen

Wow, I didn't even notice that. It looks like it is a Galaxy SII but all over the eBay sale it mentions Note N7000.

Easily removable case for swapping batteries?

One of my favorite features of the Note and S series phones is the removable battery. I'd like to be able to easily swap out the battery while still using some kind of case. I bought a SUPCASE Hybrid on Amazon, but it's so tight and difficult to remove that I'm afraid I'll eventually hurt the phone by taking it off once or twice per day. It's also pushing my screen protector up at the sides because it's so damned tight.
I had one of these cases for the Galaxy Note 2, and it worked very well. It was stretchy enough that I could take it off and put it back on all the time without fearing that I was going to damage the case or phone.
Has anyone found a case like this for the Note 3 that allows easy access to the battery of the phone? I'd pay $100 if I could get one of those Body Glove cases for the Note 3.
I'm considering buying a Seidio Surface because it looks like it might be easy to work with. (Top and bottom seem to slide off rather than needing to be peeled off.)
I have a feeling that I'm not the only one here who's particular about this, so I figured I'd make a post. Any ideas anybody? Thanks in advance.
I find that the samsung protective cover + cases are the best for this.

Searching around on Samsung's online store and it doesn't look like they have them up for the Note 3 yet... shame.
The S-View case is the easiest thing in the world to take off in under a second really, also the other day I put my Caseology case on forgetting to put my battery cover on first and walked around all day like that without any problems lol. But umm yea the S-View if you simply pull on the case it snaps right off the back and it is very thin and light.

Yeah I'm frustratingly, patiently waiting for them to release it. They seem to be taking their time

Tech21 is easy to remove.
I tried Incipio one at AT&T store and the phone removal is a bit hassle.

I went to a local T-Mobile store tonight and they had way more GNote 3 stuff in stock than I expected. They had a "buy two, get one free" sale so I picked up a S-View and two cases for less than $100. I really like how the S-View feels compared to Samsung's previous flip covers, but it disappoints me that the notification LED is still covered up. It didn't occur to me until after I'd walked out that this flip cover will also totally defeat the usefulness of the "Dynamic Notifications" app which I'm currently in love with.

Yup! Tech21 is one of the three cases I got tonight and it's the one I'm most happy with right now. It feels very solid, looks good and is pretty easy to slip off. There's just enough lip to prevent the touchscreen from touching my desk when I place it face down, but not enough to make it difficult to remove. It peels off way easier than the other cases of this type I've tried. :good:
I can tell you from using the flip cover for Note II, any Samsung official flip/s-view case is going to be the easiest option for wapping batteries, I do it every day and can't wait to get one for my Note III
Spiegen Bounce case is super easy to take off yet is still very protective.

I don't think samsung is going to release anything official under $50 until all the half off coupon codes expire. Right now there is one item available to use that code on, the S pen and nothing else.
