Hello, newbie here. Is it possible to disable picassa sync with gallery? If so, what system app to delete? This will be really helpful.

cmiiw, picasa option only appear in account setting after you run gallery3D and succesfully sync with your google account (spesifically picasa) for the first time.
seeing your screenshot, you set baackground data/auto sync off, right ? did you ever sync your gallery to picasa, even once, on that rom ?
probably why you didn't have the option in the first place.
even when using stock rom, or CM based rom, i always get that option after gallery3D sync with picasa.
even after disable the picture in gallery still there

it's not.
after disable sync, picasa album will not be shown on gallery3D.
not on my phone

it's a one time solution, and maybe it will work if in the long run if you didn't have auto sync on.
but if it set to auto sync / background data is on, and you didn't actually disable picasa sync, it will just re-sync your picasa web album

Even on stock i not use gallery3d, it lag
I use quickpic on all rom i use...iys fast and better than gallery3d
For the data sync, why do i need auto sync? My fb, email, and other sync app working well without auto sync

gallery3d is okay, not really that slow. but i do agree quickpic is better and faster.
i also remove gallery3d and push quickpic to system

I've added in myy googlemail account the new "contacts birthday calendar", so the dates of my contacts will shown in my calendar. But there is no sync of the birthday calendar on my X10. Only the normal dates and week numbers.
Some ideas to solve the problem?
go to google agenda
https://www.google.com/calendar/renderOnline
Click 'other calendars'
Add
Browse interesting calendars
More
Birthdays of contacts
Sign on
Back to calendar.. you can see you got your contact birthday calendar now
Go to your phone
Calendar/Agenda
More
Calendars/Agendas
It should give you the option to sync it, and make it visible or not
That's the way i did. But in my phone, after sync to the added calendar of my google account, there isn't the "birthday of contacts". Only the ****@googlemail.com and the other added calendars are shown. No birthday of contacts.
on ur pc:
go to google calendar
Calender settings
make sure 'show in list' is checked
and make sure it's in that list at all
if it both is, then im baffled and can't really help.
OR, go to accounts in your phone, and make sure that the calendar does sync (both with your contacts and gmail)
1. The calendar settings

2. the calendar is activate in view mode
3. after sync on my phone, no birthday calendar
Thats mysterious.
Some information 'bout my phone:
- German T-Mobile
- rooted
- Model X10i
- Firmware 2.1 update1
- Baseband-Version 2.1.54
- Kernel-Version 2.6.29 [email protected] #1
- Build 2.1.A.0.435
did you try this?
Contacts --> Accounts --> googlemail account --> check if 'Sync Calendar' is on
(that one bumped me out once..dunno how it got disabled at that time)
Automatic synchronizing of googlemail account is enabled. I added the "birthday of contacts" two weeks ago. Nothing happened on my phone since then.

perhaps manually importing it to your google calendar works. To do so,
on ur pc:
go to calendar (doh)
settings
click on the 'contact birthday calendar'
find the green 'ical' button, this will download a .ics file
go back to the google calendar screen
click 'add calendar' (bottom left)
and click the bottom one 'import calendar'
on ur phone:
sync the calendar: Contacts --> Accounts --> googlemail account --> menu button 'sync now'
(perhaps the names are a bit different, cuz i use the dutch version )
Doesn' work. The calendar exports an empty iCal File.
While importing, a note pops up "Import calendar: Processed zero events."
Seems, google doesn't like me ;-)
that seems rather weird.. perhaps you do not have any friend's birthdays listed..but i guess you have..
sorry, I can't help you further
Anyway, thank you for help. I think I'll look around at the market for a birthday calendar app.
Hmm, found eboBirthday at the market. A really great birthday calendar app. Synchronizes my googlemail contact's birthday with the SE calendar and put in the dates. Great. All what i want.
I got my Galaxy S II today as my first android phone, but I don't have unlimited data.
Is there anyway for me to turn off auto refresh for things like the weather widget, gmail, facebook, ect...or make it so that it only refreshes on wifi? I went into settings and found "auto sync" and "background sync", but i only see "facebook", and "google" :/
I'm on 2gb and don't have any problems running over on data. As long as you aren't streaming a lot you should be fine (unless you are on the 200mb plan). I use weatherbug and set the refresh rate to 1hr. Gmail is still push and it uses minimal data. I have google voice running all the time too.
Just keep an eye on the data for a while until you know how much you actually use. Use 3g watchdog or mydatamanager from the market
Facebook will be right there to disable. Background data being disabled should stop some data use when the phone is asleep. For gmail there is a setting in the gmail app. Most apps that sync will have a setting.
Juice defender has a way to block all data use when the screen is off. Be careful though, most "task killers" cause slower performance and can decrease battery life. In general stay away from anything that auto kills apps.

Okay thanks. (how do I "thank" on this forum?...) But i still can't find how to stop or limit push emails in the gmail app... theres a "turn off notifications" thing, but I'm not sure if it stops the email from downloading too...
If you disable auto sync, everything under your gmail account on the sync settings page will be disabled.
If you just want to stop gmail:
Settings/accounts and sync/manage accounts/sync gmail

Maybe there isn't a setting in the gmail app. If you go to settings, accounts, Google and uncheck gmail I think that will make your gmail manually sync only when you refresh in the app.

no need of setting a separate account, once you install it when mobile tries to sync a notification will appear in status bar for authorization and when you click it; it automatically authorizes and starts syncing, just like message appears for syncing picassa albums in gallery
you can disable syncing in settings > accounts and sync
it is integrated in stock calender, you can see the screen shot
Work if I move to system/app?
Edit: Installed as normal app, work fine. But I can't see, because the color is light grey, maybe because of the theme. It's possible to change it?
And how you create those other groups, seen in your screenshot?
Edit again: changed theme, calendar app keeps grey. Any way to change it?

i think that colour gray is default integration of Sony Calender sunc, can be changed by decompiling apk, can't do that (not a developer) but calender is quite visible, i too tried using different themes it still is having same Gray colour

But at least, link in 2nd post, is simple.
You don't have to messed up your build.prop. So you can keep the identity of your device

New to me V30 and Gmail shows only last 30 days of messages.
Any messages show up only on laptop or desktop. Nothing from March 2019 show on phone.
Have checked Settings, Accounts, Google and Sync -- there is no date limit on any of these settings. Have also checked Settings from Desktop logon to Gmail and there is no apparent location or setting that allows or restricts "days to show" -- or I am not seeing the setting.
Where may I adjust it to unlimited or at least 90 days ?

It's a simple app setting.
Has nothing to do with V30, but the Android Gmail app. Default is 30 days, but you can set for more if you wish. There's also app settings for auto downloading attachments, etc.

In the Gmail app settings, click on your email address. Retention period is customized per account. Some people have more than one Gmail account.
You can also go to gmail.com on your phone web browser if you want to see your computer view.
Have only 1 email account and it is gmail
When I click on Accounts and select my gmail account, a long list of permissions to various parts show up, calendar, sync etc but nothing that has a days to send./sync value
Holding down the area with email does nothing and Sync button by itself has no function other that sync now
Still elusive -- if step by step can be posted, would help a lot.
Also tried on laptop, logged on in normal desktop mode and Settings does not have an area to set anything with value in days -- in fact, it shows All mail in Inbox from years ago to present day
