Hi all i have a galaxy s2 with new ics open UK and rooted.
Everything works great... Internet apps play store etc
Problem is when trying to upload photos to Facebook the status bar fills to 101% then stops for a while then shows the cannot upload message. I then tried to use speedy uploader mad it won't even log in.
The funny thing is the moment i use wi fi the problem goes away and photos upload fine as well as speedy uploader logging in and uploading photos. Logged in to Facebook in speedy uploader then switched off wifi to try an upload and again the status bar filled to 100% then showed unknown error.
When using mobile data i have made sure it is a strong connection hsdpa and everything else works. Normally i can fix anything technological but this has me stumped. Any ideas please? If there is any more info that i can provide let me know.
Thanks
Update
I have tried the same scenario on another S2 on same network running stock o2 ICS rom and the photo uploads fine to my facebook account... This narrows the problem down to a glitch in my phone.
Attached are images showing what happens.
I have tried all the usual routes - uninstall - clear data - reinstall - unintall - hit hard and shout Also reset my network settings for o2 (seen something about proxy problems elsewhere) but nothing seems to solve this. Facebook app works fine for news feed and profiles but only on data network does it have this problem. Any app trying to upload a photo to facebook is filling the status bar showing it is uploaded and then producing an error. Not a connection issue for definite.
Getting frustrated at this and close to doing a full wipe and reset tonight as I don't have patience for annoying things like this. Please someone have had the same problem and/or know of a solution to save me missing a few hours sleep !

Okay, my phone is on the 2.3.4 OTA update it is also rooted and unlocked ... have recently wiped it clean to try to track down the issue ...
since updating it ... now when i go to the marketplace it will 'hang' and not download anything for a bit ... the H+ icon on the top is in black letters ... after a while the icon will update and show the H+ in blue and the arrows start to light up and the download will finally start ...
if i connect it to wifi it works just fine
i notice if i let the phone sleep for a legnth of time it will do this over again, but if i keep it 'awake' it continues to work as normal...
is there a setting someplace that i am overlooking that allows you to suspend cellular data while sleeping ?
It seems similar to what a lot of us OTA-ers are experiencing. Definitely wondering about this as well.

ok so it is not just me .... searched on the forum for a bit and did not find a post about it.
Is it only when you go to the Market?
Are you using the new Market app? (New Market app can cause data to drop).
More info please.
when i first applied the OTA it had the old market but was doing this ... (i did a reset because of it and the fingerprint scanner not working) ... after the reset the first time i went to the market it downloaded the new version and worked for a bit ... but now it is back to making the H+ turn black which i am guessing is showing that there is no data ??? because nothing else will work for a bit after that happens ...
oh, and the fingerprint scanner still doesn't work but thats another issue i need to figure out.
Make sure that your phone is logged into Google Talk by following these steps:
Go to your phone’s app launcher, and press the Talk app
If you’re already logged into Talk, press Menu, and then touch Sign out
Launch Talk again to sign in
Check the markets support page, its under known issues, had the same problem and it worked for me
Hey people need your help in regards to an internet/phone issue which has me stumped.
Ive recently flashed a couple of ROMs just to see what they were like and since then have had issues in regards to not being able to connect to the web...well not being able to 99% of the time.
(This is where i need a Jedi MAster)
Ive flashed about 30 ROMs onto my SII with no problems as of today!
Ok first, the two ROMS i flashed were Rarity and then Turkbeyv's, did full factory reset on both, wiped all data from cache and Dalvik and then formatted memory card just to be sure.
I then went back to Criskelo's v30 then updated to v31 as it was uploaded and i thought this may rectify the problems ive been having.
Disc: THIS IS BY NO MEANS ME BLAMING THE MENTIONED ROMS FOR THE ISSUES IM HAVING,ALL OF WHICH I THOUGHT WERE OUTSTANDING,i just cant help but be a Flashing addict lol
PLEASE REFER TO INCLUDED PIC:
A - cant seem to clear this battery image,informing of full charge,battery percentages always stay high on top right indicator then suddenly drops to low percentage.
B - Am showing HSDPA but unable to connect to the web using default browser, firefox although can conect using Dophin HD, first time i managed a connection via Dolphin which again is probably once in 10 times of trying, when i managed a connection it was pittifully slow,worse than EDGE (yes im that old).
I knew i had a problem with the connection when tryin to log into my google account,using the other mentioned ROMs, it just wont let me, unless im using WIFI.
All web based apps from Facebook, Google and the Market simply wont connect to the server,as for all other connected apps the ou come is the same...
C - The other issue i have is apps appearing and then disapearing or saying uninstalled.
Having finally managing a connection using Dolphin HD i noticed an icon had been placed on my homescreen?
also having problems with contacts, ive been using AContacts from the market and when i use the default contact app, they both force close stating "android.process.acore" error, any ideas?
SOooo these are my issues people, thanks in advance for any help given, please note that im not a coder but can follow step by step instructions if given.
I hope to hear from you all shortly
Alex
Hi Friends,
Few days a go as I was watching youtube videos for around 45 minutes continuously through the youtube app. The streaming suddenly paused and never continued from that point. I tried other videos but it kept on buffering (the circle kept on spining and nothing happened, as noticed on the leds of wifi router it seemed youtube app is not using the net but when i search for more videos the thumbnail do showup normally).
To over come this issue i tried reflashing. This happened when i was on the new HyperDroid_v4.0 with Pongster's MattedBlack v4.0 Surgeons which is amazing for battery saving.
I then tried reflashing HyperDroid_v4.0 again after formatting /cache /system /data /sdcard /emmc which wiped everything, but still no avail.
Then i again tried reflashing DarkyROM2 XXKH3 BASE (2.3.4) formatting everything but still no luck at all.
I even tried these flashing after Factory data reset selecting Format USB storage as well .
When i do the flashing everything else seems to be working fine as usual except the youtube playback and android market doesn't download, like i said for the youtube app, everything like searching the apps, browsing through apps details works fine except it doesn't download at all. It shows as if it's downloading but it stays as is forever.
Very sorry if same question was posted before this as i couldn't find like it.
I have been trying to fix this for 2 days in a row but still no luck.
Has anyone come across this same issue.
Please help.
Thank you very much in advance..
Update:The problem was finally solved after again formatting /cache /system /data /sdcard /emmc and flashed stock ROM though Odin and then I installed DarkyROM tool and then flashed DarkyROM2_KI3_Base ROM.
I will soon jump to HyperDroid_v4.0 with Pongster's MattedBlack v4.0 Surgeons again as it has superb battery life.
I will be updating you guys if the same problem persist.
Thank you all
Hello everyone!
Although I am not using GS2 (I have a Galaxy Note), I chose to post here because I didn't want to create a new post and I believe this is not a device-specific issue (see below for why).
I have the exact same problem as OP (as far as I can see). When I got my note less than a week ago, everything was working great. Then, last Friday I noticed that I cannot download anything from the market. After choosing to download something (both paid or free), after clicking "accept & download" at the permission screen, the screen goes back to app screen and market shows the app as "downloading..." with working, yet empty, progress bar. Everything else using the internet works fine - browsing from different browsers, notifications, email etc. I even tried installing an alternative market app, and it would download/install apps no problem. Also, downloading straight .apk files works as well. Later that evening I also noticed youtube app doesn't work - just the "loading" circle keeps running, until it times out. Browsing/searching market/youtube works without a problem. I am using the stock ROM and it isn't even rooted. Later, following some suggestions from google searches on the problem, it turns out that downloads work when I disable network and let it use mobile internet. I also later found out that it works on other wifi networks, just not my home wifi (which used to work perfectly, with no configuration changes to the router).
Next day I also found out that my girlfriend's android (LG Optimus Me P350) has the same exact problem, therefor it is not a phone model specific problem.
Here is what I tried so far:
Factory reset - left me with no apps and no way to re-download them. The market download did work ONCE after the reset, but that was to download the update to the market itself, nothing else;
Clearing Download Manager data - worked for ONE download. At first it worked for one download every time, meaning, after clearing download manager data, I was able to download one app, after that it would go back to the problem. I could then clear data again, and it would again download one app. After about 5 apps downloaded this way, this solution won't work at all anymore;
Force closing/clearing data of market, gmail, talk (in combination with above step) - didn't work;
Signing out/in to gmail and/or talk - didn't work;
Changing google account in market - didn't work;
Stopping/starting download countless times - didn't work;
Switching wifi on/off - only starts downloading briefly when phone switches to 3G while wifi is off. As soon as it gets wifi connection back, the download stalls at the position it was until I switch wifi off again (so it can continue to use 3G);
Switching phone to airplane mode, off/on, then disabling airplane mode - didn't work;
Changing phone's DNS records with an app to OpenDNS - didn't work;
Updating router firmware - didn't work;
Resetting router firmware - didn't work;
Setting port triggering on router for port 5228 - didn't work;
Port forwarding to Note IP for same port - didn't work;
Disabling router firewall - didn't work;
My router is Linksys E1000.
I think that is all I tried. I have been trying to find a solution for the whole weekend, and nothing as far. Searching google makes me believe that many people have had the same problem. I have found many solutions, which don't work, or only work once. This problem is really, really irritating. Also, I have found out that for many people the problem seems to randomly disappear without doing anything after some time (days to months), sometimes coming back and sometimes not. I experienced this myself when after going to sleep, I was able to download one app in the morning with no tried "fixes" at that time. This also makes me believe that there are many "fake" solutions, which did work for some people, but not for others - quite possibly, while these people were "solving" the problem, it actually solved itself, yet because the person did something, he/she believes that was the solution. A notable example of this could be "google account 24-hour reset" where users experiencing the problem are suggested to log out of their google accounts everywhere and not use the account for anything for 24 hours. Seeing as this is possibly a problem somehow connected to another device, not just the phone itself, I did consider flashing DD-WRT on my router, but I wouldn't really want do do that since my router is not that powerful and with all the DD-WRT features my broadband speed gets capped at about 65Mbit/s. Still a lot, but I have a great internet connection and am able to get real speeds of about 90Mbit/s with stock router firmware.
If anyone has any ideas, please share Thank you in advance!
Just a quick reply - I contacted my apartment building network tech, and he said that they didn't do anything regarding the internet that day, but they did however do something to offer TV service to residents (edit: The TV network shares the same hardware as internet's). He said that it shouldn't have changed anything regarding internet, but he would look into it. A few hours later everything is working.
Of course, it could be one of those cases where the problem disappears with no apparent reason, but I guess they did something to fix it. So, if you are experiencing the same problem (market downloads not working and youtube app not playing videos), and you have tried everything else (preferably confirmed the problem persists on someone elses phone), I would suggest you start going up the chain to whoever is managing your network (after yourself). If at all possible, try getting wifi access through someone else who is using the same ISP/network - if the problem persists even when connected to another AP/Router, it's pretty sure the ISP or network is to blame.
Hope this helps someone, since I wasted a few days on this
I have my S3 now for a few days, and noticed that when not on wi-fi, my dropbox does not upload anything.
If I go to the upload screen there are many files and the top one is uploading till it reaches some (i beleive fixed) amount of data. It then stalls for a few seconds and restarts. This then repeats itself all the time!
I have to cancel each upload, to stop it. Reboot does not help.
Anyone else? I will try factory reset to see if it does anything,,,,
I still do have this problem, does anyone else see it? I did a factory reset, flash another firmware (alf2 - official, over OTA) and it still does not work. Everything else works ok.

How can you possibly upload pictures when your phone doesn't have internet connection?
If you're using data/3g go to dropbox settings > upload using > wifi or data plan
I have 3g/data connection, and you can manually push any file to dropbox if you have internet connection, wifi or any other. But it transfers 400k or so I beleive and then stalls, waits a few seconds, and then restarts the upload. If left to itself it would very efficiently use all my data plan, as it does it all the time.
I lost my nervers and asked a friend who has the same sgs 3 with the same firware to try it, and it is not working either. It starts the upload, does a part of the file, stops, and restarst from the beggining. On wifi it works, but I need it exactly for when I am not on wifi. So this is wide spread, but nobody tries to upload something when not in wifi or what?
1) take a picture
2) make sure you are not on wifi, but on 3g/whatever
3) click on the picture in gallery -> upload to dropbox
4) open dropbox and check the uploads "page"where the file is uploading partially in a loop forever
Or am I doing something wrong?
Somethings wrong because I just tried it without issue. Are you sure you have 'Wifi and data plan ticked under dropbox settings and mobile data on
Yes, I checked this, it is selected to upload with wifi and data plan. There is some limit somewhere.... or what... arghh
I tried everything, even changing the network mode to GSM. This made it to transfer 80% of the 2MB file, but it took forever.. then it started again. on WDCMA (3G, H+) it seems it stops when the H+ changes to 3G but it is hard to say. I can download whatever I want, 20mb no problem, but upload seems not to work if the conenction changes all the time. This could be better if the connection quality on the location would be better.... But still, why can I download but not upload. I got a third SGS 3 from a neigbour and it is the same for his, so this is not hardware.
HI to all, I am having a weird issue, I have both devices (listed in my Signature) which happen to give me a No connection - retry error every time I go to check my email, or even if I go to the Inbox folders such as Forums, I am all the time receiving No Connection Retry.
- I have tried clearing cache and data ,restarting, email shows up fine, after a couple of seconds I get the no connection again.
- I also did a full wipe on my tablet and have done everything from scratch practically, a couple of seconds later I receive the no connection error.
- I have also tried a different wi-fi connection, and also tried a 3G connection and the issue still persists.
I am really at a loss with this as it is really annoying; is anyone having similar issues or might suggest another work around for this please?
Thanks for any help.
Same thing happening to me, and lots of other people too it seems. Please update if you find a solution!
