Hey guys, Ever since I flashed the latest RC for CM I have been having a horrible issue with my phone rebooting randomly, almost every 5-10 minutes. At first, I thought it had something to do with the sd card (like maybe a script on it was causing the issue) so I reformatted it, but to no avail. Even when I try kanged versions of CM, I have the issue.
I'm at my wits end, this has never happened before and I waited almost a week to finally seek some help, I am just not sure what to do! I am going to go back to Baft2 for a little (the first official version of CM available for the Atrix's and hopefully that solves the issue. If not, I'm going to test the gorrila glass out by stabbing the shiz out of my phone (just kidding, but you can sense my frustration).
Try putting the phone in Airplane mode. Do the random reboots go away?
Reboot into recovery and clear cache and dalvik-cache, then reboot the phone. Better?

lol as soon as I put it into airplane mode it rebooted hahahaha. we will see, I'll get back to you
I've had this issue before, it seems to be related to the radio.
After it boots up, try making a call (dial 611). If its going to reboot, it will get hung up on the call (won't complete, can't hang up either). And switching to Airplane mode won't complete, will eventual end up causing a reboot.
If I boot up in Airplane mode, the phone will be stable. And even turning WIFI, the phone will be stable. Its only when I turn on the radio that it can lead to random crashes.
I usually "resolve" the problem by doing a combination of clearing the caches (cache and dalvik-cache), and/or reflashing the radio.

Well when it booted up after clearing both caches it's been fine, but it's only been 5 minutes. I was able to call 611 and stayed on the line a bit until i hung up, I didn't even think it was a radio issue... I can't remember the last time I flashed a new one. I'll try that if the problem persists
is it wifi and/or bluetooth related? are you able to toggle wifi and bluetooth on? or does it reboot when you try?

wifi and bluetooth are fine, it really is just a random thing. So far, after turning it into airplane mode then clearing both caches, it hasn't rebooted, but it's only been 10 minutes so we will see what happens. another poster said it could be radio related, and I can't remember when I flashed a radio to this phone...months...before CM was a stable option, so I might do that as well.
What radio version are you currently running?

N_01.77.30p. Pretty sure that is the radio. Like I said, Haven't flashed one in a while but I think that is the radio haha
What radio is the newest? Phone just rebooted again so I figured I'd flash the newest one. I know the one that ends in p is for GB...I can't find the threads for the other ones, just the single posts from the wiki. Thanks for all of your guys's input by the way!
Try 36P or 37P. I've had good luck with both, most say 37P is faster for GPS and WIFI. Downloadable from the Atrix Radios thread:

For the 2nd time w/ axura i have lost data connection. I flashed this rom on friday and lost my connection on saturday, reflashed saturday then lost again on today. I've reflashed for the last time. I tried turning on/off airplane mode, changing network modes, rebooting. Nothing seems to work except reflashing. I really hate this because I love this rom, but if happens again I'm going to have to try a different another rom. Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening? Has anyone else had this problem?
yes this has happen to me twice as well. Do you happen to have the wifi calling app installed?
I don't think so. Is that something that I would have to add. I didn't add anything extra or change the kernel. Are you only getting a day out of it before you lose the data? I can connect to wifi when I want.
Here is what happen to me. I was using Eugene's unofficial Odin froyo and everything was well except for the browser was laggy all the time. I decided to flash master's rom because it supported wifi calling and at home with wifi everything worked well, but when i left my house yesterday for work I could not get data or voice. The bars and the 3g icon were there but did not work. I flashed the rom again on the way to work and everything was good. Today we left to do some stuff and the same thing happen, I tried to go to into flight mode but it would not go back normal. In addition I installed the wifi calling app that lets you make calls over wifi and there is an option for preffered connection method, I had it set to wifi only instead of wifi and 3g. I changed that option and from there everything was working as it should. I also noticed that its set to Gsm instead of auto Gsm/wcdma and it wont let me change it. I don't know if that has to do with anything. So I am back at home right now and i don't get any service so i cant test to see if it has anything to do with wifi to 3g transfer.
I am really bummed because i like this rom alot, it has all the bells and whistles and its great on battery.
If this continues I think I am gonna odin back to stock then start over. It might also have something to do with my titanium back up.
Maybe it's a Georgia thing. lol. When I lose it the task bar only shows the bars, nothing else ( no 3g or edge). I'm with you though this is a great rom. If it happens again I may go back to stock and wait for the official froyo. Not really sure what else to do.
Is it okay to install the JI2 or JI6 modems on a Froyo ROM? If so, you could give it a try. Fortunately, people have created flashable .zip's for both.
This happened to me also. I lost my data and voice connection. Checked and saw that airplane mode was on and no matter how much I unchecked it, it still stayed on airplane mode. I reboot my phone, and reboot and reboot the **** out of it and now its been working just fine for more than a day now.
I don't know if it is ok to install those on a rom. My knowledge on that kind of stuff is very limited to say the least. This is my first rom. If anyone knows about this, your help would be greatly appreciated.

JI2 and JI6 are 2.2 capable.
http://www.teamwhiskey.com/home/downloads
Check the download section. Also I can't confirm but from what I remember the JI2 + JI6 both have the bug where switching radio modes (edge / 3g) will force you to do the flight mode reset.
I also had this issue because it always happens when I stream music while driving.
About not being able to get out of airplane mode. I don't know if it was just because I was tired, but every time I used the reboot feature instead of powering down, it would never get out of airplane mode. So, when I looked carefully, reboot, airplane mode, and another option was greyed out while power down wasn't. I found it strange, but whatever. I fully powered down and then turned it on. Airplane was now off.
I was on Axura 2.0.4 and because of this issue, I switched back to Obsidian. It could possibly be the modem, but at the time I didn't check it. Just report it to Master and hopefully the bug can be found.
Is it just me or you guys have the same issue? So I am on EB01 Modem, EB01 Super Clean Rom, non voodoo. If you wake up your phone and try to access internet, like launching browser or pandora, you get disconnected from 3G for several seconds, which gives error, that connection is lost. But after having phone in awake state for several minutes, the problem disappears until next sleep.
Is that what that means. You get 3g icon with a letter d underneath it means disconnect? Or? Standby?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Immediately after I wake up my phone, when app tries to reach Internet, I get 3G D first, then 3G icon disappears completely. App that tried to get data errors out, saying No coverage or no data. After ~30 seconds 3G icon appears again with arrows blinking and everything works fine. And data works fine until you put your phone to sleep. Then it happens again.
D = Dormant.
good day.

I have the same type of thing happen when i try to tether my ps3. created a couple threads and searched around but could never find any answers. Even making the phone stay awake doesnt fix it.

check you task killers and other battery optimization apps. I had Juice Defender on and it did the same thing. Uninstalled it, back to normal.
I don't have anything installed. It is like that even on clean system, after wipe. I tried the same on Rubix ROM, which I very like, and it has the same behavior. I suspect its a new modem or kernel, because changing ROM doesn't fix the issue. I going to try to flash DL09 modem for now to see if it will fix the issue.
After flashing DL09 modem issue solved! (NO ITS NOT)
For those who looking for old modems:
DJ05 modem
DL09 modem
Edit: Well... actually the issue is not solved with DL09. This morning it crashed my modem and issue is still unsolved. I flashed DJ05 modem right now. Let's see if that will help.
Edit2: No, DJ05 did not solved the issue either. So it is not Modem's fault. Any suggestions?
I let it sleep for 5 minutes, woke it up and it lost 3g connection again. So it shows 3G icon, but really it doesn't have connection. Then after ~15 seconds 3G Icon disappears like someone turned off 3G Data. After another 15-30 seconds, 3G works again, Icon appears ok, everything works. I don't know what to do.
This sucks....
Having same issue and if I download anything have to leave my screen on to finish it or I loose connection....
Well, I used ODIN to reflash to stock DI01 package. Kernel, Modem, Rom all matching and factory. I cleaned everything, did factory reset, re-programmed the phone using options 1 and 2. Then I got the Verizon update EA28 and installed it too. It installed successfully. I lost root. And guess what? That DID NOT fixed the issue. 3G connection is still shuts off for 30 seconds when I try to access Internet after I wake up the phone.
Well, I went to Verizon and they offered me a replacement. I agreed.
Any ideas why this is happening? I noticed this started to happen when I flashed EB01 modem. But I am not sure if modem is the one to blame. One of the Kernels I flashed at some point maybe? I flashed jt's Adrenalyne's kernels. Reason why I am asking is I don't want to repeat the same story with new replacement phone. Not that I am complaining here I just want to understand what caused the issue and the reason why this issue persists after I flashed phone back to stock?
Hi all,
is there anyone else who experiences this?
=> my mobile data more often than not refuses to work, unless I reboot the phone. After rebooting it will work. Since I normally turn off mobile data unless I need it, this forces me to reboot the phone +- every time I need mobile data.
Does anyone have the faintest idea how I can troubleshoot this? What to look for in logcat/dmesg?
Thanks

Thanks, but assuming this is a reliable way to get 3g back, how can I find out what the reason is that it gets lost in the first place, and what's wrong with the phone?
I have experienced that too, after flashing new kernel then my mobile data didn't work properly. It kept losing signal, turning on and off airplane mode helped but that wasn't the solution.
Right then I reflashed the old kernel and it went back to normal.
Is it true that any code in kernels affects mobile data performance?
I flashed FK 16.1 on LOL 1.4.2 when it happened.
Regards
This happens in my 2.2 (v10c) also. It does start working if I reboot the phone. Alternatively, if you simply turn the data off for sometime (15-20 min) and then start it again, it starts working.
Maybe its got to do with some kind of lag between pressing the button and the phone actually recieving the data activation signal...or something like that
or the tower is overloaded by many users...
Hi
I've been using Longhorn 2.9.3 from a fresh install and really love the rom.
Everything works great except where lately I've been having issues where the phone just reboots out of the blue.
This has happened on average 10-15 times this past week.
Can anyone help?
Cheers
Nico

try to check which application that causing this.. a fresh install does not happen at all of random reboots.. not even once...
you could try to wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache and lastly wipe data .. do dell factory reset too if case is worsen...

Cheers mate,
I haven't installed any apps since about a week before this started.
Do you know of any apps that may cause this? as removing them one at a time and waiting for it to happen again is going to take ages.
It seems to have gotten better this last week.. only 1 or 2 reboots.
Further Indications......
Hi folks,
I'm having the same issues with Longhorn 2.9.3 Final, but it only seems to randomly reboot when the the phone is left idle and the screen goes off, So my first attempt was to disable the lock screen - no effect, then I tried certain background apps, such as Go Launcher EX, followed now by Facebook, and a local taxi app, nothing as yet.
I have tried wiping various caches, but it made no difference unfortunately.
If anybody know anything relevant to this issue don't hesitate but to share it with us, please.
I really am very fond of this custom ROM, and don't want to abandon it.
Thanks in advance
Ben.

After going through clearing caches, replacing internal and external SD cards, cleaning the back door blah blah blah I found the following.
When I ran the Maps app, it asked if I wanted to use wifi for location to which I responded yes... mistake! If the wifi location option is checked, the phone seems try to use wifi when it is asleep and ends up rebooting.
I found this by turning the wifi off which made the phone sleep without re-booting and then by turning wifi on and disabling wifi location in Maps.
A long, involved process but now my Streak is rock steady and I don't have to think about reverting to a stock ROM... hooray

Stability update...
Uptime 600h
Previously would reboot twice a day or more
Very happy with the ROM now
I am having this problem also
I have a reboot problem as described above. The problem is that when I disable the use wireless networks option it does not disable. That is I leave the screen. Go back to it and it is still checked.
Please Help.
Web....
what kernel and baseband have you using?
Same here...
I 've been faceing the same problem exactly... latest longhorn randomly reboots, usually first the 3 buttons flash a few times before the reboot...
I downloaded and installed the 407 baseband and radio, then longhorn, did all wipe and dell reset, still the same ...
I've read this forum a few times, still though, would anyone be so kind to direct me towards a link here, where I could in fact revert the dell to an official rom version, before trying anything else?
Tnx in advance

I ended up disabling the Wifi location and my Streak works great. I had some app installed that was messing with me disabling/changing the wifi location settings. Sometimes I could not even disable wifi.
I remove a ton of apps. Was able to disable location via wifi and my phone has been working great ever since.
I can confirm that I had a problem with this and disabling it fixed it.
Hello XDA Developers,
I come to you all with a problem. I am having trouble with my GPS; it won't lock. I have tried these things:
Using GPS Status and other GPS fixers
Doing a factory reset using Mr. Cook's ROM Wipe Script
Clearing data and cache of my GPS apps (Waze and Google Maps)
Idk what else to do. Every time I use the GPS apps to pinpoint my location, after a navigation session, it goes back to getting stuck on "waiting for GPS".
Any help is appreciated.

I am currently on an unofficial nightly of CM11 ported by RenderBroken. When I was experiencing those problems, I was on Omni ROM for Android 4.4. I was on ShoStock3 before the Omni ROM, and it was the same problem.
I don't run anything AOSP based so I can't speak about how those might affect GPS, but since you have the problem across various roms, and even on SHOstock3, I wonder if the phone has a problem with the GPS hardware? Have you ever had good GPS at any point with that phone? If so what were you running at the time.
I've had some GPS issues in the past but am not having any issues currently. I've been on SHOstock3 for a long time. My issues were on an earlier version of SHOstock, I don't remember which one exactly. When my GPS would fail to lock, just as you described, a reboot would fix the issue and result in a fast lock, but then the next time I would try to use GPS, I would have to reboot again. It was very annoying. Someone said that to format cache, wipe dalvik cache and fix permissions would fix the problem, so I tried that, and yes I would then get a lock in 5 - 10 seconds and it would stay good for a few weeks until I would have to do it again. I never experimented to see which of those three things helped, or if you had to do all three. That was back around June or July of this year.
As I recall, the next base change on SHOstock completely eliminated the issue.
