AOKP (4.0.4) Update 4.18.2012 Rom Control problem - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Using [Rom]AOKP (4.0.4) Update 4.18.2012
I keep getting a "Rom Control stopped working" error. I wiped & factory reset, reflashed twice now and still keep getting the message.
It seemed to first occur when I had changed the boot animation option in the settings.
Anyone else seeing this error come up often too?

are you using google services to restore apps? are you restoring apps or system data using Titanium backup? does it happen right after flashing or after you restore apps?

I restored my contacts from google, and turned off the boot animation in rom control.
That's all I did. Then I saw the error and figured to wipe everything and re-flash, upon re-flashing it just started popping up again after turning off boot animation. Not sure if I had restored my contacts before or after.

Whole system going haywire?

I'm running Cyanogenmod 7 build 7/18, and all of the sudden every other app is crashing upon loading. I did a reboot and they continue to crash. What could be the problem?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
This is utterly rediculous, my phone is unusable now!
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
So you should Odin and start clean, make sure to repartition using the pit file. This is part of running a work-in-progress Rom.
I ended up cleaning out the cache partition and it seems to have helped a great deal. I'll make sure to do a clean install later this week with one of the nightly builds, though, thanks for the advice.
If you get more force closes than a chain of Circuit City stores again, try running "fix permissions" from clockwork recovery advanced menu...
Another Fascinating post by my XDA app...

Did you restore apps using Titanium Backup? All of my gapps force closed when I restored them from TiBu.

Oh, yes, I did do that. That might be the problem.

UnNamed to CM7 (just want to make sure I'm good to go)

I'm just getting the hang of flashing ROMs and want to try CM7.
I'm on UnNamed now so I'm assuming all I have to do is:
1. go into CWM and complete a backup (done today)
2. go into CWM and do a wipe/factory reset
3. flash the CM7 and google apps from CWM
4. restore from the backup to get all my apps/settings back
Thanks for the support.
Of you do APPS AND DATA only without touching thru system data then yes.

Not sure what you mean by "apps and data" only. I just clicked backup in CWM and figured this back up everything. Are the steps I listed above incorrect?
When you select 'backup' in CWM it creates an entire copy of your system- your ROM, kernel,
Modem, and your Apps and settings. You got the right idea of how to go from ROM to ROM but if you hit restore in recovery you'll just end up flashing back to CM7. nyamoV2 was referring to titanium backup which is used for backing up Apps and settings. I don't use it but from what I gather you never want to restore system data with it. But can be used to back up Apps. Although upon signing into Google market your Apps start downloading again anyway. Its good to make backups in recovery in case something goes wrong flashing a new ROM or theme or whatever.
Accidentally hit 'thanks' trying to modify my post LOL oops

You gotta get the pro version.. It lets you run a batch of ALL your apps instead of doing it 1 by 1

God I keep hitting the wrong button
Anyway, that's odd. I'm usually running CM7 as my daily driver and never had any data speed issues. Some users have changed their APN's and that seems to help. I did at one point but reverted back. Oh well

I always do a backup with nandroid if I'm looking to save the rom I'm currently running. Then after that I do a wipe/factory reset then also a format /system. Then install the new rom. Always has worked perfectly.
CM7
is this rom better then unnamed of MiUI?

Problem with tbp and restoring apps

I made a backup of my apps on viperrom before switching to an ics rom and when I try to restore these apps it says that it was successfully completed but the apps aren't being restored.
I have tried three times only to get the same result each time. I've cleared the data twice for tbp and tried but that still didn't work. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

Hmmm.... I haven't had any problems restoring apps yet. Are you trying to restore app data as well? Try to just do one at a time and see if that works. But only restore the app, no data. And did you do a full wipe before installing ICS?

Have you check the troubleshooting guide on their website?
We're comin from a pure power source.
Try this if you haven't already. Clear the data on the app. Then open it when it opens if it gives you a warning saying before you make a backup blah, blah, do as it ask and let it download that ver of busy box. Then try to restore your apps to see if will.

I cleared the data but it didn't ask anything about installing busybox. It went straight to the change log

Hit the menu button and it should be a problems button or something that will allow you to download a different ver of busybox. Look for that and let it install then try to restore your apps, hopefully it works

Well, don't do that. As has already been said, only restore system data. I personally would reinstall the apps and then restore the data.
Please realize that CM9 is not Samsung based like Omega V18.

Application Manager crashing everytime.

Hey folks.
My "Application Manager" keeps crashing everytime I open it. No error message, simply closes by itselft after about 5 seconds.
I can't tell what is causing this. I already wiped cache and dalvik, disabled some apps and cleared some space in internal memory. But nothing works.
I've flashed a new kernel (Speedmod) some days ago, but I'm almost sure that I've used application manager after that.
I've been playing with Clean Master and SD Maid, maybe this problem is related to these apps? I don't know.
I would appreciate some help and tips...

Must have another way...
You've obviously installed something recently or the data of something has changed and caused an incompatibility that's causing this.
If you're sure it worked after the kernel, there's not much you can do without a full wipe
Or restore the nandroid you took before flashing the kernel
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
I'm afraid I'll disable each recent installed app until I find the culprit.
Just thinking about a full wipe and I'm already tired. Hehe

Using titanium? Yeah that might work. It could be app data from a system/app though

I got a recent nandroid backup here. There is an option in TB to restore apps from a nandroid backup. I was thinking about restore "Settings" system app. Is that safe to do? The Application Manager is related to settings app, right? I cannot find an app with that name.
Yes it will be the settings app, but its likely its not the settings app causing the problem.
My sound menu used to do the same thing. I did a wipe and restored everything in titanium one by one to find out what caused it. Guess what it was?
That's right "wallpaper settings"...
See what I mean?
